Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universes. We've been talking about it for a few weeks now, but Marvel Studios just upped the ante on future projects with their presentation at D23 in Brazil this past weekend. Condense it and discuss, you say? Absolutely! Here...we…go… A brand new trailer was shown and released worldwide for Captain America: Brave New World with a longer look at the character of Isaiah Bradley. Hot off those red Hulk heels, a longer Thunderbolts* trailer was released that really set the tone for the film while still leaving us with questions. Also in trailer news, What If Season 3 got a spotlight this week and the trailer Marvel released declares that this season is the end. The man, the myth, the legend himself, Kevin Feige, also teased attendees (and therefore all of us!) with many other tantalizing nuggets such as: The character of Blade WILL reach the MCU. Queen of our hearts and minds the Scarlet Witch will likely return! Feige said the questions are “when and how” that will happen. Feige “hopes” that Miles Morales will enter the live action MCU sometime after the third animated Spider-Verse movie releases. And finally…FINALLY, the X-Men will, according to Feige, play a major role in the MCU after Secret Wars. It's the age of Dave Filoni as Lucasfilm has brought his Star Wars Rebels co-creator Simon Kinberg on board to develop a new trilogy of films in the galaxy far, far away. The new trilogy will not be a continuation of the nine-film Skywalker Saga, but will feature new characters and new stories - though insiders say this may be up for debate. Regardless, don't count out characters from other corners of the universe showing up. Kinberg's producing credits include Logan, the first two Deadpool movies, acting as a consultant for The Force Awakens, and he's involved in the upcoming adaptation of Stephen King's The Running Man starring Glen Powell. In a wild and unofficial move, Denzel Washington revealed during the Gladiator II press tour that he is being written into a third Black Panther movie that will be directed by Ryan Coogler. Development on a Black Panther 3 film has not been announced by Marvel Studios in any official capacity, but wow what a rumor to start, Denzel! HBO released a sizzle reel for their 2025 shows that will stream on Max, showcasing footage from an astounding number of their shows. Favorites like The White Lotus, The Last of Us, Hacks, and The Gilded Age were highlighted alongside upcoming shows Welcome to Derry, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, and The Chair Company, to name a few. Today, Disney+ also shared a sizzle reel this week featuring, of course, our anticipated Marvel and Star Wars projects, as well as some of their other darlings like The Bear, Goosebumps, The Handmaid's Tale, and more Netflix has released a video confirming that the fifth and final season of Stranger Things will release in 2025 and will be eight episodes long. The video also confirmed the titles of each episode. Macaulay Culkin has joined the Season 2 cast of Prime Video's Fallout in a recurring role, sources tell Deadline. A Mass Effect TV series based on the video game franchise is officially in development at Amazon MGM Studios, Variety has learned. The next book in the Marvel Crime series was announced and will be called Enemy of My Enemy featuring Daredevil and is written by bestselling author Alex Segura. The adult novel will be available July 29, 2025. Warner Brothers has announced that the release date for Bong Joon Ho's Mickey 17 starring Robert Pattinson has shifted release dates from January 31, 2025 to April 18, 2025. Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong'o, and Zendaya have joined the cast of Christopher Nolan's upcoming untitled film. They join Matt Damon and Tom Holland.

Rachel is chatting about her new book, The Starlet Spy,  another installment in Barbour Publishing's Heroines of WWII series. We talk about the inspiration behind the book, what's real and what's not real, and how she created the fascinating heroine. Patrons get to hear what she loves most about fall and what's up for her in the coming months. The Starlet Spy by Rachel Scott McDanielIn 1943, movie producer Henrik Zoltan approaches Amelie Blake under the guise of offering the Hollywood star a leading part in his upcoming film, but he has a more meaningful role in mind. Amelie's homeland of Sweden declared neutrality in the war, but Stockholm has become the “Casablanca of the North.” When top-secret atomic research goes missing in Sweden, the Allied forces scramble to recover the files before they fall into Nazi hands. The United States Office of Strategic Services (OSS) needs someone who's subtle enough to spy on the Swedish elite without triggering suspicion. Who better than the “all beauty, no brains” Scandinavian starlet? Fluent in three languages and possessing a brilliant memory, Amelie loathes being labeled witless but uses the misconception as her disguise. She's tasked with searching for the crucial files, but Finn Ristaffason keeps getting in her way. Is the charming shipping magnate after the missing research? Or does he have other reasons for showing up at her every turn? With the Gestapo on her heels, Amelie must rely on her smarts in addition to her acting skills to survive a world of deadly spies and counterspies. Get your copy of The Starlet Spy. There are whole histories of African American artists wrestling with stereotypical depictions and minstrelsy - and it seemed worthy anyway to me as an artist to consider them as some kind of artwork. American painter and silhouettist Kara Walker rose to international acclaim at the age of 28 as one of the youngest-ever recipients of a MacArthur Genius grant. Appearing in exhibitions, museums, and public collections worldwide, Walker's work wrestles with the ongoing psychological injury caused by the legacy of slavery.  In this episode, Walker shares how she navigates her own inner conflicts, how a curiosity for history led her to the silhouette, and what happens when making use of symbols of Black servitude brings one acclaim.  References: Buster Browns RISD - Rhode Island School of Design My Complement, My Enemy, My Oppressor, My Love University of the Pacific Robert Wilson Einstein on the Beach Stanley Whitney Glen Ligon Kehinde Wiley

This week Craig is joined by Hodey Johns, co-host of the Enemy of My Enemy podcast from the We Are Libertarians Network. They discuss focussing on love that looks like how God loves us, contrasting these with social media discussions that look more like hate. They talk about political statements that assume God hates those on the wrong end of our favorite policies. However, Christians shouldn't even be on the political spectrum. Can the love of Jesus be made visible when we fight online over our political positioning? The Israelites received laws from the very hand of God, but they missed His heart for humanity to follow their consciences in loving their neighbors. Not even Jewish regulations could justify people in the sight of God because love is the fulfillment of the law. Jesus proved this when he righteously ignored the Levitical laws, and the Pharisees proved that one could follow the rules perfectly and still be unrighteous. Unfortunately, we haven't learned this; hate may be more natural to Christians than love. We fail to worship God according to His desires when we fail to love those around us. As Christians, rather than looking for the boundaries we should not step on and assuming that the rest of our conduct is loving, we need to seek the narrow path and aggressively love everyone, including our enemies. After all, this is how Christ first loved us.   For Full Show Notes: https://www.thebadroman.com/show-notes/episode-74   Blog submissions: thebadroman.com/contribute-to-the-blog   Connect with us on social: thebadroman.com/social-links   Want to get more involved? In this episode of We Are Vineyard, we hear a sermon that Rich Nathan preached at Columbus Vineyard the same week that we recorded his podcast episode back in September. It is an introduction to a series called “Good Question”, which explores some common questions people have about faith and Christianity. In this sermon, Rich offers some clues found in scripture, science, nature, and our moral senses that show us it is more likely than not that God exists. Rich Nathan is the founding pastor of Vineyard Columbus. Rich was the first Senior Pastor serving from 1987-2020. Prior to becoming senior pastor, Rich taught business law at The Ohio State University for five years. He is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, and received his Juris Doctorate with honors from The Ohio State University College of Law in 1980. Rich served on the National Board for Vineyard USA for more than two decades. Rich now serves on the Board of Christian relief agency, Convoy of Hope. He is a popular national and international conference speaker. Rich co-authored Both And (IVP Books, 2013) with Insoo Kim as well as Empowered Evangelicals (Ampelon Revised 2009) with Ken Wilson. Rich is also the author of Who is My Enemy? Welcoming People the Church Rejects (Zondervan, 2002). He has written numerous articles on leadership in publications such as Leadership Magazine. On this episode Brian is joined by Floris from South African rock band Atomic Drive.Atomic Drive is an original high-energy, melodic riff rock band from Cape Town, South Africa. Drawing influence from the likes of Audioslave, Guns n Roses and AC DC, the band was formed in 2019 by Floris le Roux (Vocals, Guitar), Steph Nortje (Drums) and Nick Kuiper (Bass, Backing Vocals). Since then, Atomic Drive has released numerous Music and Lyric Videos.Following the release of their debut single "My Beautiful Life" the band received favorable reviews which led to them being booked for shows and festivals across South Africa. Sadly, the outbreak of COVID-19 and implementation of national lockdown hampered all further arrangements for these shows, with dates eventually cancelled shortly thereafter.During lockdown, the band decided to focus on creating more music, resulting in the subsequent release of their second single in April 2020. “Face of My Enemy” was accompanied by a hauntingly artistic lyric video, quickly becoming a favourite, not only for Atomic Drive, but anyone who saw it. This would also turn out to be one of the last releases of the band with vocalist Jesse Jordan who immigrated to the UK with family. In honour of their time together, Atomic Drive had their last live performance with Jesse in October 2020.The year 2021 was set to be a time to regroup for the band that had set out to find a replacement vocalist, auditioning many singers around Cape Town. The uncertainty of shows and future commitments that continued within the industry as a result of COVID-19 and the lack of finding a new vocalist resulted in the band taking time off to reorganize for the remainder of that year.As the industry slowly started to recover in 2022, so did Atomic Drive after deciding to keep their vocals in-house, with Floris taking over as vocalist and Nick on backing vocals. Taking some rehearsal time with this new dynamic, the band fervently enjoyed the three-piece setup and decided to permanently keep the line-up as is.Tune in to hear all about:The latest release "Wires"The formation of Atomic Drive. How the band dealt with show cancellations and a change in lineup following Covid.Floris' musical history.Concert experiences and much much more.Find Atomic Drive here:https://www.facebook.com/atomicdrivesa/https://www.instagram.com/driveatomic/https://open.spotify.com/artist/08dR3D9mPEFjMPvt6l2Pop?si=W3g2tvOLSYiRti8M17WIwAhttps://music.apple.com/us/artist/atomic-drive/1456425367Find CTMU here:https://linktr.ee/ConcertsthatmadeusNewsletter: https://concertsthatmadeus.aweb.page/p/f065707b-2e34-4268-8e73-94f12bd2e938If you would like to support the show you can do so by rating/reviewing us on Itunes and Spotify or by signing up at https://www.patreon.com/ConcertsthatmadeusSave 10% on Band Builder Academy membership by following this link https://bandbuilderacademy.com/Brian_Concerts/join and using promo code "concerts" at signup. The heroic stories of average people during time of war are one of the few things that will choke me up.  Book, movie, verbal--doesn't matter. Tell me all the stories and watch me try not to sob. Lauralee Bliss captured one of the most inspiring stories of WWII in her recent release, Escape from Amsterdam as part of the Heroines of WWII series published by Barbour, and guys... you've got to hear the story behind this book! Note: links may be affiliate links that provide me with a small commission at no extra expense to you. Can Repeating History Ever Be a Good Thing? That's what I have been pondering ever since reading Escape from Amsterdam, and I think the answer is, "Yes!"  Because think about it. The same ugly, ugly things have been happening since the fall of man, but amid all that ugly are the beautiful self-sacrificial stories like the ones Lauralee Bliss shares in this novel. Yes, Hitler's atrocities still affect the world today. And yet, those who opposed his regime and fought for the innocent, those who risked their own lives to save the lives of others... Those stories happen, too.  And if (more like when) the ugly times come again, stories about people like those you meet in this book will remind us that the Lord can use anyone (even me!) to accomplish His purposes. So... repeating the ugliness of history may not be a good thing, no. But that ugliness means that we likely will also repeat some of the beauty of the past as well. And books like Escape from Amsterdam and the real people who inspired it are there to ensure we don't forget that we can make a difference. Escape from Amsterdam by Lauralee Bliss A University Student Smuggles Children Out of Amsterdam Full of intrigue, adventure, and romance, this series celebrates the unsung heroes—the heroines of WWII. Helen Smit believed she was called by God to become a teacher. Little does she know that her care for kids will take a drastic turn for survival when the Germans occupy Amsterdam and Jewish children and parents begin to be deported. Now all she can think of is helping all the kids escape before it's too late. Erik Misman's newfound love for Helen is tested when he joins a plot to help move Jewish children to a safe place in the countryside. If danger can foster a closer bond with Helen and save the lives of the little ones, he will do it all. But a German patrol that stumbles upon the farm where they are hiding with three children and a soldier who takes an unexpected interest in Helen, could well destroy their plans for safety and love. Don't miss these other stories: The Cryptographer's Dilemma by Johnnie Alexander Picture of Hope by Liz Tolsma Saving Mrs. Roosevelt by Candice Sue Patterson Mrs. Witherspoon Goes to War by Mary Davis A Rose for the Resistance by Angela K. You might be tired of hearing about the Supreme Court taking away people's rights - but the process behind how SCOTUS does that is important, as depending on the results of the midterms, we may be seeing this more, and with a much wider scope.    For example, do you know what SCOTUS did about immigration in July? And if your response was “Wait, what?” then this episode is for you. Tune in to hear about that decision (which stemmed from a Texas judicial challenge to the Biden administration), what that means for immigration policy in general, and how you can take action.   What to listen for:  That the Executive Branch (i.e. President) is meant to control immigration policy - and how people who were mad at the Biden administration's shift in policy got back at him by suing and letting a Texas judge curtail their ability to direct their Department of Homeland Security staff How SCOTUS's decision goes against decades of precedent around immigration policy in our country, which balances enforcement with mercy What you can do about this - including learning the history of our immigration policy; voting; telling people about what SCOTUS is doing ahead of the decision in 2023; supporting organizations that do the work at the border to uphold humanitarian efforts.   Related Episodes:  Episode 36: The Enemy of My Enemy is My Friend - about Miller Episode 27: Recognizing the Humanity in Everyone - about Hispanic Heritage Month and immigration

Documentary filmmaker and author Ann Shin joins Yuliana on the podcast this week. Ann's documentary My Enemy, My Brother was shortlisted for a 2016 Academy Award and nominated for an Emmy. Her previous documentary, The Defector: Escape from North Korea, won 7 awards including Best Documentary and Best Documentary Director at the 2014 Canadian Screen Academy Awards, a SXSW Interactive Award, and a Canadian Digi Award. In addition to these accomplishments, her book The Family China won the Anne Green Award and was shortlisted for the Gerald Lampert Poetry Prize. In today's conversation, Ann shares the details of how her mother's accident, coma, brain injury and eventual death have impacted her life. She opens the episode up by talking about her mother's accident that bound her to a 100 day coma and a subsequent brain surgery. She notes that she had to suffer the loss of her mother at the age of nine, despite the fact that she was still alive, and that she didn't process the trauma until her ‘20s and ‘30s.  As a workaholic with children of her own, she attributes her hardworking tendencies to a need for validation and financial security, especially after her mother lost her sense of self to the injury.  Ann and Yuliana go on to talk about Ann's experience ignoring her own emotional needs, how seeing her mother's world shrink to the confines of her home was rather traumatic for her, and how she's now gotten to the point that she longs to live her life for her mother and grandmother.  The pair close out the episode by talking about Ann's debut novel, The Last Exiles, as well as her mother's death in her late ‘70s.   Episode Highlights: Ann's mother's coma and subsequent brain surgery Mourning the loss of her mother Processing the trauma later in her 20s and 30s Ann's experience as a workaholic The desire for validation and security How Ann's mother's world shrunk exponentially Ignoring her own emotional needs Living for her mother and grandmother Her novel, The Last Exiles Her mother's death in her late ‘70s Quotes:  “By the time that she did actually wake up from a coma, we'd gotten used to the notion that our mother had changed. And so it was a really strange experience.” “We had a very comfortable life, up until when my mother had her accident, they had their business.  My father was also a real estate broker, my mother was working as a nurse. We took vacations, and we had a nice home and all that. But then after her accident, everything went downhill, we didn't have the money that we had once had. So as an adult, in my 20s, and into my early 30s, I was always kind of concerned, like, I'd end up on the street.” “The parameters of her life closed into, basically, the four walls of the house that she lived in.” “With my mother, it's complicated because her brain injury so affected her mind and her intellectual capacity, and I think what happened for me internally was I couldn't even acknowledge my own needs as a kid. I didn't feel like, you know, it was anything I wanted to bring up with my mother, so then I couldn't even acknowledge it within myself.” “A lot of what I did in my early 20s, was like, forge an identity for myself in this culture. I'm working, having relationships, and having sex. It was like in the parlance of my peers, which is this North American lifestyle, and it was not something I could share with the rest of my family.” “I feel like a lot of us women, we're standing on the shoulders of other giant women that went before us, and that we feel and benefit from their legacy. So I feel that not only was I wanting to live in some way for my mother, but also for my grandmother on my mother's side.” “In terms of my career, it's so interesting. I, you know, I work mainly with women. The company that I founded is a film company, and it's women led.  It's mainly women and I enjoy working with women of all ages. We've got everyone from the age of like,...

OG guest judge Mary returns to tell us which topic is more thoroughly slandered, and which one will hoist the coveted No Comparison Trophy. This episode's events are “Two Lies and a Truth,” “Word Association,” and “Hey, That's My Enemy.” As usual, incriminating outtakes round out the fun.
