Tonight's episode was recorded by me personally on my recent trip to Key West, Florida. The 2nd leg of the trip was in a propellor plane which are known to be much louder than a traditional jet-engine airplane. I found the loud hum of the cabin interior to be deeply relaxing and would be perfect to use as a sleep ambience for the podcast. The deep and soothing sound of this audio atmosphere is great for those who suffer from tinnitus (ringing of the ears), as well as ADHD and anxiety. We hope this episode brings you fast relief and helps you fall quickly into a deep and restful sleep. If you've enjoyed the episode, please leave a reply down below. Unfortunately, Spotify does not let us reply to your comments, but we do read every single one and appreciate the feedback. Thank you and sleep well!
Propellor heads watch out!!! DeGrom, Strasburg are out ... MLB has created a dumbed down version of pitching ... and the Hall of Famer doesn't hold back.

Just a few years ago, DAC technology existed exclusively on a lab bench. This year the industry raised over $1 billion in VC funding, with over 50 funded startups in existence. While there are still technological hurdles to overcome to bring CDR to scale, funding also needs to be diversified and innovated, something we've discussed before on this show. Tech money continues to pour into CDR. Just this week, two large new funding mechanisms for CDR companies have been announced. Terraset is a new philanthropy that aims to fill CDR's ‘funding gap.' They aim to pool $1 billion by 2030 to fund startups directly. Early announced funders are Tim Ferriss and Segment co-founder Calvin French-Owen. Propellor is a new VC fund that announced its first seed round of $100 million to invest in ocean-based climate tech. We'll discuss both announcements with our regular business panel, Susan Su and Na'im Merchant. As pilots keep up with increasing mapping demand should they choose Propellor or Pix4D and what are the implications of choosing either? With mapping continuing to be a critical drone application in the drone world, what software should drone pilots to ensure accuracy and high precision deliverables? In today's show we discuss and compare in detail, 2 key software in the drone mapping world - the Propellor and Pix4D, and how choosing either can impact precision, accuracy, budget, ease of convenience and a whole lot more. Our question for today, is from Bob, who would like to specifically know if he should opt for Pix4D or Propellor for his photogrammetry requirements. We start off the episode discussing how zoom affects marking your available flight data and driving accuracy in mapping. We then detail the Pix4D mapper's performance on generating topography maps. We also discuss limitations of using cloud software in generating aerial maps and the ways in which pilots can mitigate them. Before delving into a direct comparison of Pix4D and Propellor we also discuss key concepts in mapping such as the use of aeropoints, PPK vs RTK comparison and why pilots need to understand these key aspects to enable them to use software effectively. Lastly, we discuss why Pix4D Mapper can provide you the best maps for your projects including specifics on the tools and how you can work with Pix4D react and manage customer expectation and deliverables. Source video for conversation here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=chYBpaY5tl0 Andreas Xirtus is one of my favorite Youtube Researchers and Content Creators. His areas of interest are far ranging and always very interesting to say the least. With a strong focus on the mysteries of The Old World and the purported to be “Lost” Civilization of Grand Tartaria, he spends a lot of time on questions I often grapple with in my research for the podcast. Andreas’ videos shine through his analysis of things like Popular Culture, particularly visual media like TV, Film, and animation in particular- through a lens of Tartarian Discernment, and frequently have me and many members of his audience scratching our heads and wondering where this affinity for finding and elucidating coded information comes from in a man so relatively young. Recently Andreas re-uploaded an older video of his to a backup youtube channel, and as the notification came through I decided it was a good time to go back and watch this material again, as a review. The video was titled 001 History Revised Xirtus Tartaria Documentary, and I recalled it to have been a nice overview of most of the salient points that constitute the Tartarian Civilization Puzzle. As I sat there enjoying the material all over again, I quickly realized that I wanted to use this video and it’s story as the basis for a conversation with Andreas, where I could ask him to expand on a few of the things in the video itself. What follows will be a recording of this conversation. Andreas and I have been connected online for about a year now, and chat frequently in his Brain Trust of sorts- the Xirtus Tartary Discord server- where much lively debate takes place among it’s hundreds of members daily, but I thought it was high time we had him on here on Baked and Awake for an expansive conversation about all things Tartarian. Maybe I’ll even let Andreas tell us about some other things he finds fascinating- but NOT until we get to the bottom of this Tartary thing first! For those of you for whom this topic is completely new- fear not, because we are about to take you through enough of the high points in the story to either satisfy, or pique your interest to the point that you’ll want to investigate further. If the latter is the case, I humbly suggest that you look into my back catalog for episodes about Grand Tartaria, The Mud Flood, and The General Crisis of the Seventeenth Century, for starters. The Video opens by showing an association between North American Natives (American Indians) and the Southern Confederacy. Next, as a dash of cold water in the face, you ask the viewer to suspend their own beliefs and biases for the duration of the presentation. (I appreciate this) Lies are Obscured truth: Symbols and words that appear to be pejorative or negative but are in fact Positive- Primitive, Primal, Primordial, Prime Meridian, Prime Radical, Prime The Magna Carta (What’s the Columbus Cylinder?)- Signed under duress, therefore an invalid contract. Did History record this story incorrectly? Perhaps even backwards? A nod to Gnostic Occult Practices in the form of a reference to Kaneh Bosom or the Holy Oil Christ would have been Anointed with. The Viking - Scythian Connection- Who taught who what exactly? Was this relationship equitable for both sides? Scott Onstott: Secrets in Plain Sight? Propellor symbol rehabilitation aside for just a moment- can you expand upon the relationship between Propellers and Star Fortifications aka Bastion Forts? Are you indicating here that ancient civilizations had the power of flight? And if so, was this form of air transportation traditional in the sense that an ICE powered a propellor that pulled or pushed a vehicle through the atmosphere? If so- how does that fit with your own separate musings on, as you referred to it- Solid State Flight tech? For the sake of conversation I’ll note here that we could be referring to Balloons, Zeppelins, Blimps, and more unusual storybook vehicles such as flying broomsticks or magic carpets? Is the propeller symbol perhaps a Portal? Origins of Nations Model: The Trapezoid Scheme- What a great mental picture this draws! Let’s talk about how this has played out in history a little. Conformational Bias aka “Trust Me I’m an Engineer” syndrome. Joseph Smith, The Latter Day Saints, and the American West. The Irish Potato Famine- Monocrop disaster or engineered extermination? Who really won The American Civil War? (History is written by the Victors) The 13th Amendment. This is an ALL TIME keynote that got me really fired up, really going off on why you need to adjust to the market- you're only as good as your last at-bat, it doesn't matter what happened 8, 9 , 10 years ago. I also go on to get MASSIVELY fired up around when Facebook bought Instagram, and why I still stand by my statement that it was a super cheap buy. If there's one keynote this month you shouldn't miss- it's this ;) *Originally published to The GaryVee Audio Experience on May 17, 2018
Have you ever been to the DMV or some other official kind of place and seen immigrant parents with little English proficiency helped out with the paperwork by their school aged children Tung Ly was that kid. When he was growing up in Tulsa, there were many occasions where he had to help his parents with basic stuff that many of us would have taken for granted. Nowadays Tung is still playing that role but instead of helping his parents to understand a tax form, or to renew a drivers license, he s helping staff at all levels at the City of New Orleans to understand and to adopt complicated software systems that will hopefully make their jobs easier, and improve services that are provided to the people that need them; it s an incredibly important job these days as the City makes major efforts to modernize the way it does business. Tung stops by to talk about that, and some of the many community service activities he s active in, including work with Propellor, VAYLA, and the Awesome Fund, just to name a few this week on VietNOLA.
Rob and guest Derek Hyde take turns piloting the river boat up the Great Miami River to Dayton, Ohio, home of the prolific, erratic genius Robert Pollard. The cargo is Guided By Voices' 1992 album Propellor, the album which PROPELLED them into great acclaim and a career in the wider spaces. Barry is allowed to look at the scenery but is sent below deck like Lurch in The Addams Family when he makes comparisons with another 1992 musical act. Rob and Derek come ashore, erect their temple, set about adoring St. Robert, and distributing smallpox-infected GBV mix tapes to the gentle natives they find there. Long Live Rockathon! So sayeth we all.

This week: Amanda and Patricia have a .... spirited....discussion with two of BAS's favorite artists (and the greatest oversight in our interview history until now) Stan Shellabarger and Dutes Miller. Go see their show, it's awesome! Next, Brian and Duncan talk to Courtney Fink of Art Publishing Now while at Southern Exposure. Did we really get the "bums rush" from the Propellor fund, oh yes we did! Lifted relevant info: Art Publishing Now is a two-day event dedicated to the investigation and showcasing of art publishing practices in the Bay Area. It includes a day of presentations and critical discussions, an after-party, an art publishers fair, library and archive. Western Exhibitions is pleased to present an exhibition by husband-and-husband artist team Miller & Shellabarger. The show opens on Friday, October 15 with a reception, from 5 to 8pm, which is free and open to the public. This second showing at Western Exhibitions of Miller & Shellabarger's collaborative pursuits will focus on works from several inter-related projects including Volume 6 of their large-scale silhouette artist books, documents from a recent performance involving funeral pyres and intimate, discrete objects that utilize embroidery and carved shells. The silhouette is a key component in several of these new works. Miller & Shellabarger first employed silhouettes in large-scale artist books that contained their individual profiles, each one cut by the other. We will show the most recent book in this series as well as other silhouette-based works that use the silhouette as a starting point, including conjoined beard silhouette collages traced by friends and two embossed lead pieces that feature similar imagery. We will also show larger-than-life, phantasmagorical images, created during their "Summer Studio" artist residency at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago's Sullivan Galleries in 2010 which take advantage of the distortions of the silhouetted figure in light and shadow. Life-size body tracings of each other are realized in large drawings on paper made with gunpowder, and in a small book of photographs of body tracings made with seeds. Additional work will include a twin set of pillowcases, each monogrammed with their initials using hair from their beards as thread, a delicate cameo depicting the two with their beards intertwined carved out of sardonic shell by an Italian master carver, and photographs from a recent performance "Untitled (Pyre)" where they found two naturally fallen trees in the forest, chopped them, and stacked the fireplace-sized pieces into roughly human-size forms, and burned these pyres at dusk. Miller & Shellabarger are a 2009 recipient of the Peter S. Reed Foundation Grant, 2008 recipient of an Artadia Award, and a 2007 recipient of a Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation award. Their work is in the collections of the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art and the National Gallery of Canada in Ontario. In 2010 they showed a major selection of work at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Portland, Maine, participated in the Time-Based Arts (TBA) festival in Portland, Oregon and will have a solo exhibition in 2011 at the Illinois State University Galleries in Normal, Illinois. Their work has been written about in Artforum.com, Art & Auction, Frieze, Artnet, The Art Newspaper, Flash Art, TimeOut Chicago, and the Chicago Sun-Times. Dutes Miller and Stan Shellabarger also maintain separate artistic practices. They live and work in Chicago.
