Excerpt from one of the many cases featured in tonight's podcast - “From 2009-2013 I acted as curator for the special project that involved the transfer of 210 surviving files from the MoD's archives into the public domain. The striking images in UFO Drawings from The National Archives were sourced from these and an older collection of UFO files, some dating back to the Second World War, that have been opened to public inspection under the 30 year rule. Some of the most remarkable drawings in the book were produced by schoolchildren. For example one lunchtime in October, 1977, ten Cheshire youngsters, aged seven to 11 years, saw an elliptical UFO hovering in trees beside the playground of Upton Primary School in Macclesfield, before it rose into the sky and vanished.Their teacher, Mrs Hindmarsh, ushered the children inside and asked to draw what they had seen, separating them to ensure that no copying took place. The youngsters used pencils and coloured crayons to produce the images that ended up in a MoD file.Their drawings are so clear and striking that I selected them as one the highlights of the book. In this case their teacher passed the dossier to Cheshire Police and the MoD's UFO desk. In his covering letter the police officer said there was ‘a remarkable similarity in these sketches with regard to the UFO and its location between two trees'.But this was just one example from a series of sightings made from schools during 1977. Another file contains drawings and letters sent to the MoD by youngsters and their teacher from North Wales earlier in the year.Audio & Interview - Deborah HatswellVideo Editing & Images - Mark HatswellYou can help to support BBR by liking, sharing and commenting on the video.CHECK OUT OUR OTHER SOCIAL MEDIA SITES. On this week's edition of ‘All Ball' we reflect on the incredible career of Newcastle Knights legend Andrew Johns. We discuss his remarkable start to his career with the Knights, his leadership and key plays in those premiership winning teams, and how he was able to overcome injury struggles to have success at the representative level. Joey was a player who always gave his team a chance to win due to his incredible defence, passing and kicking game along with his unmatched leadership. He is deserving of his status as the 8th immortal as many look at him as the greatest to ever play Rugby League. In ‘the Match' we pair up two club legends from the Parramatta Eels - Nathan Cayless and Nathan Hindmarsh, both dominant forwards who were great leaders. Cayless captained the Eels to a pair of grand final appearances and was also the captain of the New Zealand squad which won the 2008 World Cup. Hindy also had a very strong representative career as well as a staple of those great Parramatta teams in the 2000's and being one of the few players in the 300-game club. Who is your pick as the better forward? And to round out the show in 'Rapid Fire', we continue our Legend Series and select our favourite retired player from each club. This week we take a look back on some of the best players from the New Zealand Warriors.~ Dan

May & Tim Hindmarsh In a successful marriage, the relationship is often bigger than either person.  “God tells us to love our enemies, but I am not going to marry them.” Although love is elevating, marriage is not ONLY based on love. The gravity with which a relationship orbits is trust. Although I do not always agree with my spouse, do I trust them 100%.  It is getting through the hardships that make or break a relationship. The easy stuff...the fun stuff...the honeymoon stuff does not matter. We are ALL good at supporting our spouse through good times. It becomes more difficult to be supportive when the bad times roll in. WALK AWAY ASKING YOURSELF Was I born at an early age??? (just kidding) How do I model constructive conflict? Where am I looking for happiness? Could it be more freeing to stop looking for happiness and be okay with not being happy all the time? Is happiness always my goal? If so, why?   Well, it finally happened, the COVID-19 vaccines have started to arrive and get administered to health care workers in the United States. The first out of the gate is the Pfizer vaccine which will almost certainly be followed soon by the Moderna vaccine. Both vaccines use a revolutionary new technology for inducing an immune response, messenger RNA (mRNA). As millions of doses start rolling out throughout our hospitals and nursing home care workers we need to reflect on whether the vaccine is effective, safe, and how it should be distributed. My discussion today is with Dr. Tim Hindmarsh who is the co-host of a fellow Doctor Podcast Network show called BS Free MD. Dr. Hindmarsh has extensively studied the vaccine and faces questions every day from his patients about whether or not they should get the vaccine. Is the Vaccine Safe? The preeminent question that everyone asks me in the OR or on social media is whether or not the vaccine is safe. The simple answer is yes. A more nuanced and accurate answer is almost certainly but perhaps time and millions of doses will lead to a more robust feel as to how safe the vaccines really are. Obviously, there is no long term data because there hasn't been enough time passed to gather data. What we know of short term results is that the vaccines seem very safe. The usual vaccine related complications that people really worry about (Guillan Barre, transverse myelitis, etc.) occur within the first six weeks or so of vaccination. Those haven't been seen in the trials so far with tens of thousands of volunteers. But that doesn't answer the broader question of what the potential long term complications of the vaccine might be. I believe by the time the vaccine gets to the public distribution phase we will have a very good idea if there are any side effects that just aren't being picked up right now. Since that is months away we will have more than enough time and doses given to evaluate its long term safety. Does the Vaccine Work? Again, we can answer this questions two different ways. Short answer: yes. Long answer: yes and maybe. The studies clearly show that the vaccines minimize the likelihood of developing severe COVID-19 disease. And functionally, that is all that really matters. Yes, the chance of you getting a severe infection to COVID isn't 50% but it is also much greater than zero if you are older. And even quoting survival numbers is not that helpful if you end up sick and unable to work for months or some complication to the virus which happens even to those who survive. The other question that we don't know is if you can still get infected if you've been vaccinated and transmit the virus to others. The studies weren't designed to find that answer so it will be months before we know the answer. It is possible that the immune response triggered by the vaccine prevents the presentation of symptoms but that you still get infected and spread the virus. A good example of this would be the oral polio vaccine which allows for infection but it prevents the devastating paralysis effects (the US no longer uses the oral vaccine but an inactivated injection now).  Should I Get the Vaccine? Here the answer is it depends. If you're elderly or have any of the now well known co-morbidities (heart disease, diabetes, pulmonary disease) then getting the vaccine should be a no-brainer. Contracting COVID-19 will almost assuredly be a worse chance of survival than any theoretical risk from the vaccine. Also, those working in that population or coming in contact with patients should probably get it too. Having that much exposure just puts you at a risk that probably makes the chance of severe COVID too high when compared to theoretical risks. The tricky answer lies in what to do with a healthy 25 year old. I suspect that by the time that individual has the opportunity to get the vaccine we will have more knowledge of any complications and make a better assessment at that time. For now, just remember that even if you get COVID-19 and survive or have mild symptoms of fatigue and fever it's not any fun. Just as I don't believe the flu will kill me I still don't want to get it because I won't be able to work and I will feel miserable.  Dr. Tim Hindmarsh is a family physician and the co-host of the new podcast, BS Free MD. show notes Episode 109: Today's show BS Free MD: The show with Drs. Australian former professional rugby league player, Nathan Hindmarsh spoke to Martin Devlin about the upcoming NRL season. The NRL has banned fans from the second round of matches and could consider other radical measures as it battles to come to grips with the impact of the coronavirus outbreak on the league.NRL chief executive Todd Greenberg confirmed the spectator ban last night, saying the league would consider a range of options over the weekend - including a complete season shutdown - as the rapidly evolving coronavirus takes hold of world sport.Australian media have also reported that all second round matches could be held at the same venue.Greenberg's comments follow Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison's banning of organised events with an audience of more than 500 people. The first round of NRL matches are expected to go ahead as planned with the Warriors taking on the Newcastle Knights in their season-opener Downunder on Saturday. In a media conference, Greenberg said the NRL would be guided on a way forward by the Australian government."We've listened to the authorities who are in a far better position than we are. If the government gave us advice today to close the stadiums down we would have. The measures they're putting together are precautionary measures," Greenberg said."We're going to do everything we can to protect players from the disease. If that means a club can't play a game in the competition or be stood down for the round we'll do that."Greenberg said the league was expecting the ban to have a significant financial impact on clubs but pledged his support."It's going to have significant financial impacts on all 16 clubs and the game. We're in unprecedented times. If they're in financial difficulty we'll keep them afloat. We'll get through this together."We're going to work through the next week and work out the impact for clubs. These are significants amounts of money for clubs over the course of the year."All 16 clubs are in the same position and listening to the same advice and getting into an alignment for this weekend's games," he said."If something changes we'll pivot and assess it accordingly. The good part about State of Origin is it doesn't start for a couple of months. Hopefully it changes. If we make changes now we might get the benefit of that in a month's time."The decision to ban spectators from attending games could have interesting consequences for the Warriors - with Stephen Kearney's team set to take on the Canberra Raiders at Eden Park next Saturday in the first match of a cross-code 'double header' with the Blues facing the Brumbies immediately after.Sanzaar announced yesterday that this weekend's round f Super Rugby fixtures would go ahead as planned, with only the clash between the Highlanders and Jaguares in Buenos Aires to be played behind closed doors.Rugby bosses were expected to be locked in meetings last night to discuss the impact of Covid-19 on all future Super Rugby matches in New Zealand, following the cancellation or postponement of major events in the country, including Auckland's Pasifika Festival and surfing contest Piha Pro.NZ Rugby chair Brent Impey told BusinessDesk that no domestic games are cancelled at this stage, but said the four heads of the Sanzaar countries would meet "to secure further updates".
