Jeremy forgot his phone today, and as luck would have it, another poor soul lost theirs in a pretty spectacular fashion. Picture this: you're setting up an ice skating rink and accidentally leave your borrowed phone on the ice. Fast forward, and that phone is now trapped under two inches of ice, frozen solid because it was overlooked before the water froze. And the kicker? They can't melt or crack the ice without ruining the rink, so the phone has to stay there for two whole months. Needless to say, the phone's owner (his daughter) isn't thrilled, but hey, there's probably a shiny new phone in her future!

Indoor ice rinks, crucial for sports and recreation, often face challenges managing humidity, leading to condensation and fog. These issues arise from factors like spectator presence, inadequate ventilation, and temperature variations, impacting playability and revenue. A case study at a NCAA Division 1 rink in Massachusetts highlighted how failing air handlers jeopardized operations just as the hockey season began. Facing potential financial losses exceeding $100,000, a solution was urgently needed.Polygon stepped in with a temporary humidity control system equipped with real-time sensors and automation. This setup swiftly regulated humidity levels, averting game cancellations and ensuring continuous operations. The integration of ExactAire Smart Controllers and IAQ Sensors enabled precise monitoring and proactive management of conditions, crucial for maintaining optimal ice quality and venue profitability.By swiftly addressing the humidity issue and facilitating equipment replacement, Polygon's solution not only ensured uninterrupted events but also minimized financial risks associated with operational disruptions, demonstrating the effectiveness of proactive humidity management in indoor sports facilities.

GDP Script/ Top Stories for Jan 3rd     Publish Date:  Jan 2nd     HENSSLER 15 From the Henssler Financial Studio Welcome to the Gwinnett Daily Post Podcast. Today is Wednesday, January 3rd and Happy 77th Birthday to Led Zeppelin's bassist John Paul Jones. ***01.03.24 – BIRTHDAY – JOHN PAUL JONES*** I'm Bruce Jenkins and here are your top stories presented by Kia Mall of Georgia. Grayson Man Accused of Defrauding Liberty Mutual of more than $9.2 million Pair charged with trafficking 17-year-old, 15-year-old victims License to Chill Snow Island keeps the winter fun going through February Plus, my conversation with Leah McGrath from Ingles Markets on superfoods. All of this and more is coming up on the Gwinnett Daily Post podcast, and if you are looking for community news, we encourage you to listen daily and subscribe! Break 1: MOG   STORY 1: Grayson Man Accused of Defrauding Liberty Mutual of more than $9.2 million Jose Martinez of Grayson, Georgia, has been arrested on charges of insurance fraud for allegedly defrauding Liberty Mutual Insurance Company of over $9 million. Martinez submitted a self-audit form in 2016, containing false information about his company's profits and employee pay. The fraudulent activity aimed to conceal his company's true worker's compensation liabilities, resulting in significantly reduced insurance premiums. Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King emphasized that Martinez's actions defrauded Liberty Mutual of more than $9,250,000 in premiums that should have been paid for coverage liabilities. Martinez was taken into custody on December 5.   STORY 2: Pair charged with trafficking 17-year-old, 15-year-old victims Denorris Hutchinson and Natasha Bridges have been indicted on charges of trafficking persons for sexual servitude in Fulton County, Georgia. The case originated from "Operation Not Forgotten," where a 17-year-old victim was recovered from a hotel in Fulton County. Both defendants are accused of trafficking the underage female. Subsequent investigations led to the identification of a second underage victim, a 15-year-old female, allegedly trafficked by Hutchinson. The Attorney General's Human Trafficking Prosecution Unit presented evidence to a Fulton County Grand Jury, resulting in the indictment of Hutchinson and Bridges. The charges include trafficking of persons for sexual servitude.     STORY 3: License to Chill Snow Island keeps the winter fun going through February License to Chill Snow Island at Margaritaville at Lanier Islands is offering family-friendly winter activities until February. The attraction features snow tubing, ice skating, a snow play area, and amusement rides. Snowball Alley in the resort's wave pool allows kids to make snowmen or engage in snowball fights, while Frosty's Ice Rink provides an ice skating spot. Blizzard Mountain, one of North America's longest snow rides, offers tubing down a 575-foot lane. The carnival area includes a Ferris Wheel, bumper cars, carnival games, a children's roller coaster, and other rides. The Glacier Cafe and Lakeside Lights Spectacular add to the experience. The attraction is open daily through Jan. 3 and on weekends through Feb. 25. The Lakeside Lights Spectacular is open daily through Jan. 3 and on weekends through Jan. 15.   We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. Call 770.874.3200 for more info. We'll be right back Break 2: TOM WAGES – DTL   STORY 4: UGA study: High school counselors lack training in addictive behaviors A study by the University of Georgia reveals that most high school counselors lack formalized training in addressing addictive behaviors such as vaping and internet gaming. Despite being aware of the issues, counselors reported insufficient training, with only 24.4% feeling moderately competent addressing gaming-related issues and 37.1% for vaping-related issues. The study emphasizes the need for comprehensive training programs for school counselors, infused into the curriculum or presented as a mandatory standalone course, to equip them in recognizing and responding to addictive behaviors in students. The prevalence of vaping and gaming addiction underscores the importance of implementing preventative and early intervention measures in schools.   STORY 5: North Georgia Mission Lodge offers place to stay for nonprofit groups wanting to serve in Fannin County Jeff Milway and a group from Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church in Duluth established the North Georgia Mission Lodge in Morganton, aiming to provide a space for volunteer groups to stay and connect with service opportunities in North Georgia. The lodge, housed in a log cabin, can accommodate 16 people and offers a home base for volunteer teams working with local nonprofits. The initiative seeks to facilitate partnerships with charitable organizations in the area, allowing visiting groups to contribute to specific projects and nonprofits to receive assistance from volunteers. The North Georgia Mission Lodge aims to create positive experiences for volunteers while building connections with local communities.   We'll be back in a moment.   Break 3:  ESOG - INGLES 1 – JACKSON EMC   STORY 6: LEAH MCGRATH And now here is my conversation with Leah McGrath from Ingles Markets on superfoods.   STORY 7: LEAH MCGRATH ***LEAH MCGRATH INERVIEW***   We'll have final thoughts after this.   Break 4: Henssler 60   Signoff – Thanks again for hanging out with us on today's Gwinnett Daily Post podcast.
