Here comes episode 002 of The Techno Files, a podcast showcasing the golden era of underground techno that drove me hard from the late 90s through the mid-2000s. All tracks are remastered hifi encodings from my personal vinyl library. On this one we go a little deeper and darker to ramp things up because episode three is going to get a little nuts. But these more minimal tracks come through so warm and punchy. I'm very happy with the overall sound of these digital transfers. This episode features music from: Olga+Jozef; Steve Stoll; Patrik Skoog; Mike Humphries; Raoul Delgardo; Fanon Flowers & more. Steve Stoll, Fmr. Special Forces Green Beret and Sr. Talent Partner at Twilio, has spent his career connecting with people from all walks of life. Steve shares lessons learned from leading his Special Forces Team through some interesting situations, like being dropped in the middle of Honduras and having to make friends quick. Steve says that it's all about finding one thing to connect on- whether that is music or good whiskey, it just takes one piece of common ground to start a meaningful relationship. After leaving the Service, Steve found that his innate gift to connect with people, allowed him to be effective in business and it was the soft skills that ultimately allowed him to climb the corporate ladder. From Dell to Twilio, Steve has found that clear communication, being open to input and spending the extra time to get to know people, leaves an impression. So much so, that Steve now spends most of his days helping tech executives find the right people. In a world where data and resumes are abundant, Steve says that nothing beats an in person conversation with a potential Teammate. Often it is intuition that helps you make the right call, on a hire. Years of experience making quick decisions on someone's character has led Steve to many hires where senior Leaders were unsure, but ultimately turned out to be beyond successful. It is almost never the lack of technical or hard skills that cause companies to look for new talent, it's because folks didn't play well with others or possess that level of commitment that is hard to teach. It may take time, but Steve believes that folks can work on their soft skills by putting themselves in Team situations that are uncomfortable and require creativity. Steve also shares that his perspective gained, while in the military, allows him to live life with gratitude. Having seen unrest and harsh environments reminds him to live his best life everyday and prioritize the moments in front of him.

P.T.B.S. It's the 90s. Influenced by mainstream Radio Pop as well as a growing SynthPop scene and the emerging, ever present HipHop sound of the era a young, thirteen year old named Ufuk Özbayar, now better known under his MONIKER AFFLICTED, P.T.B.S and OKTAL3., also the half part of Afflicted in Techno Records and his upcoming Label Outworld Records With the decade progressing and electronic music being on the rise towards its first peak it wouldn't take long before the original HipHop head discovered the magic of a straight 4/4 bassdrum and a variety of styles including Trance, House and HardHouse only to progress into serious Hardcore, Acid, Gabber and HardTechno over the years, influenced by acts like Sven Väth, Luke Slater, DJ Rush, Chris Liebling, Depeche Mode and the likes of as well as countless club nights experienced all over Germany and Netherland. Originally from Poland Monya has been based in Berlin for over a decade now. With her uncompromising live sets she built herself a reputation quickly and has been playing since then all over the world. In 2013 she released her first album and in 2014 she started her own label ‘Corresponding Positions’, where she releases her own music but also constantly supports new faces to the scene by putting out their fresh and powerful sounds. For her own productions it’s obvious that her biggest passion is industrial techno, although she never sticks to one particular style, but loves to try out different approaches and experiment with sounds. With her enthusiasm for electronic music she continuously learns and grows every day. Support for her music came from producers like Perc, Bas Mooy, Rebekah, Steve Stoll, Jeroen Search, Mike Parker and many more. Stay tuned! Steve Stoll (USA) - NightVision Techno PODCAST 62 Pt. 2 Bio.: Producing pure, minimalist analogue-minded techno in the vein of early Plastikman and Joey Beltram (even though his career began as a drummer with the industrial label Wax Trax), Steve Stoll has recorded for Nova Mute, Probe, DJax, Delirium, Synewave and his own Proper NYC label. Raised in Brooklyn, Stoll listened to hip-hop and disco as a child, then joined the Army straight out of high-school. He served for five years, including a period in the Gulf War when he plotted bomb runs by satellite. After being released, Stoll shifted around: he played drums for the industrial group Sister Machine Gun, studied jazz and began recording straight-edged techno for Big Apple labels like 212 Productions and Damon Wild's Synewave. Our next episode is yet again a unique, one-off installment showcasing a veteran of the New York techno scene and a man who during the early 90s pioneered and helped push the sound of this city out to the world, STEVE STOLL. This exclusive mix is a brief overview of his label, Proper NYC, in order to commemorate its 20th anniversary. Steve wanted to dedicate this journey to his friend and producer, Vincent Capuano (V1NZ), who is no longer with us, as well as the artwork featured here to Pete Namlook, which was taken from his latest album, Zero Point Crossings, on Fax Records. This a one-of-a-kind contribution, trailing the old-school, the minimal, and the raw, pure techno sound coming out of Proper NYC during the 90s. We are very grateful to be able to showcase this and we thank Steve for taking time out of parenthood and the American Midwest (where he and his family reside currently), to bring us this piece of frozen time. At last, we strongly suggest you check his latest album, Praxis, released this past January on Psychonavigation, which is a superlative ambient composition spanning 16 tracks and dedicated to the work of the following 3 electronic pioneers – Daphne Oram, Delia Derbyshire, and Laurie Spiegel. This is Steve Stoll live (recorded in one take exclusively for Erratic) celebrating 20 Years of Proper NYC. Enjoy! TRACKLIST 01. Steve Stoll - Praxis - Psychonavigation 02. Damon Wild (PL) - NightVision Techno PODCAST 59 Pt. 2 Bio: Damon Wild’s musical career started off as a DJ playing a range of musical styles from Kraftwerk / Cabaret Voltaire / New Order to early acid house on his home town radio WTUL in New Orleans. It was in 1990 when he moved to NYC to become a key player in the underground techno scene. While working at local record stores, Sonic Groove & Vinylmania, Damon released his first EP “Unleash the Groove” on the legendary Strictly Rhythm stamp. After several releases on various labels, Damon built his name as a producer of hard, dark acid and synth-fuelled techno stompers. As Experimental (EX) was being set up as his first record label in 1992, Damon hit it big with the rave anthem “Rave Generator” under the group name Toxic Two. The tune reached the top ten in the UK charts and was his biggest commercial success. Even though Experimental records were relatively short lived, it was crucial in showcasing the talents of artists like Freddie Fresh, Tim Taylor and Woody McBride. It was then that Damon set up his second label, Synewave, and he still continues to run it and record for it successfully. On Synewave, Damon released some of his biggest underground tunes, such as “Bang the Acid” and “Afghan Acid”, both recorded with UK’s Tim Taylor. At the same time he was signing other producers to the label: Woody McBride, Freddy Fresh, Mark Bell (LFO), Joey Beltram, Heiko Laux, Steve Stoll, to name a few. In 1988, Damon released his first full length album “New Electronica” under the alias Morph (produced with Dennis Ferrer). Damon was also heavily producing solid minimal productions such as “Avion” and his Subtractive Synthesis series. After more than 15 years dj’ing and producing in the USA, Damon decided to move to Europe in 2001, where he released his second full album “Color Theory” for the Belgian based Music Man stamp. With some EP’s in between, 2004 witnessed his third full album “Downtown Worlds” on the German Kanzleramt stamp. With releases on all these labels (Code Red, Strictly Rhythm, Buzz, Reload, Music Man, Kanzleramt, Synewave, ?!) Damon Wild keeps crossing the globe for new inspiration. Damon Wild is well known for his experienced dj style ranging from underground acid, classic techno, pumping minimal to the latest in new electronic sounds from around the globe. His top priority is to balance between his likings and that of the crowd to create a special techno experience. Tracklist: 01. Mono-Region - First Contact // Naked Lunch Records 02. who is ricardo ferro? Ricardo is also known as DJ Ferro since his debuts in the world of djing, bringing us back to 1988. Very loyal to the electronic culture club since then, Ferro has become a key name of the Portuguese underground music scene. Born in Lisbon in 24th April 1973, he spent his early days in the well-known region of Algarve, southern Portugal. When he turned 18 years old he moved back to Lisbon on his own, not only because the attraction of the big city life but mainly because of his strong desire of getting to know artists and people involved in the dance scene. He was eager to make a breakthrough as well as establishing his style and own sound to a bulky audience. It was only a matter of time, for those who remember, before his name started circulating around the elite and was being offered to playing in such places like: Locomia, Rocks, ZONA+, Coconuts, Plateau, Alcantara-Mar amongst others. When still working in the record shop Bimotor in charge of the imports, he formed a collective with A.paul and Wogz, two successful Techno Dj's in Portugal, which would lead to the creation of a specific Portuguese techno label - Squeeze Records. Squeeze 001 ( A.paul & Ferro) appeared to be the so much wanted breakthrough, a smash! The right music was released at the right time and obviously the interest of the public kept growing. The next step was a very much awaited and acclaimed Compilation. Outside Portugal boundaries the success was discreet but flourishing. The German distributor Neuton shipped Squeeze around Europe and DJs like Sven Vath, Chris Liebing and Hardfloor charted it. At a certain point, during the 'boom' of dance music in Portugal, X-Club acknowledged his work with a invitation to be one of the X artists, were he finally was able to set up his career. Places like Colombia and Slováquia, playing with DJs like Carl Cox, Jeff Mills, Dave Clarke, Richie Hawtin, The Advent, Mike Dearborn, DJ Rush, Derrick Carter, Dave Angel, Darren Price, Stacey Pullen, DJ Sneak, Green Velvet, Josh Wink, Damon Wild, Steve Stoll, Adam Beyer, Ben Long and many others, are common to him. Today Ricardo Ferro is the Label Manager of FAROL, the label of Media Capital and also the exclusive distributor of Warner Music in Portugal. His love for production is still alive, and he regularly delivers his new material. He also keeps his agenda full with gigs in Portugal and abroad. In less than a decade, Ricardo Ferro managed to impose his fresh sound and smooth style with a clever blend of Techno, Techouse, Hardhouse, Progressive House, House and even Electro, his recent collaboration with Mourah under the project Echosonic is an example of it. Year after year he proves to his faithful audience to be an innovative, versatile and open-minded artist. who is dj ferro? Dj Ferro is the artist name used by Ricardo Ferro since his debuts in the world of djing, bringing us back to 1988. Very loyal to the electronic culture club since then, Dj Ferro has become a key name of the Portuguese underground music scene. Today Ricardo Ferro is the A&R of ZONA MUSICA, a respected Portuguese label and distributor (of such labels as !K7). His love for production is still alive, and he regularly delivers his new material. He also keeps his agenda full with gigs in Portugal and abroad. who is dj ferro? Dj Ferro is the artist name used by Ricardo Ferro since his debuts in the world of djing, bringing us back to 1988. Very loyal to the electronic culture club since then, Dj Ferro has become a key name of the Portuguese underground music scene. Places like Colombia and Slováquia, playing with DJs like Carl Cox, Jeff Mills, Dave Clarke, Richie Hawtin, The Advent, Mike Dearborn, DJ Rush, Derrick Carter, Dave Angel, Darren Price, Stacey Pullen, DJ Sneak, Green Velvet, Josh Wink, Damon Wild, Steve Stoll, Adam Beyer, Ben Long and many others, are common to him. who is dj ferro? Dj Ferro is the artist name used by Ricardo Ferro since his debuts in the world of djing, bringing us back to 1988. Very loyal to the electronic culture club since then, Dj Ferro has become a key name of the Portuguese underground music scene. Places like Colombia and Slováquia, playing with DJs like Carl Cox, Jeff Mills, Dave Clarke, Richie Hawtin, The Advent, Mike Dearborn, DJ Rush, Derrick Carter, Dave Angel, Darren Price, Stacey Pullen, DJ Sneak, Green Velvet, Josh Wink, Damon Wild, Steve Stoll, Adam Beyer, Ben Long and many others, are common to him. who is dj ferro? Dj Ferro is the artist name used by Ricardo Ferro since his debuts in the world of djing, bringing us back to 1988. Very loyal to the electronic culture club since then, Dj Ferro has become a key name of the Portuguese underground music scene.
