Send us a text“When I found your words, I devoured them.” – Jeremiah 15:16For 25 years, scholars, theologians, and Catholic minds have been working on the most comprehensive Catholic Study Bible ever produced. Now, it's finally here.In this episode, I sit down with Mark Brumley, President of Ignatius Press, to dive deep into the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible. What makes this Bible different? Why should you add another study Bible to your collection? And how can it transform the way you read, understand, and live out Scripture?Mark pulls back the curtain on the massive effort behind this project, from Scott Hahn's deep theological insights to the thousands of study notes, historical essays, maps, and cross-references designed to bring the Word of God to life. We discuss:✅ Why the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible is a game-changer for Catholic men ✅ How this Bible connects the Old and New Testaments like never before ✅ The hidden biblical foundations of Catholic doctrine that most people miss ✅ How to read Scripture with the mind of the Church (and avoid misinterpretation)If you want to finally understand Scripture at a deeper level, this episode is for you.

Dr. Rydelnik also shares the process that occurs in Luke 4 where the those who heard Jesus moved from 'speaking well of him and being amazed at the gracious words he spoke' in verse 22 to wanting to throw Jesus off a cliff in verse 29.Donate to Moody Radio: http://moodyradio.org/donateto/morningshow/wmbwSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

According to Wiersbe's Study Bible commentary, Jesus's Sermon on the Mount is one of the most misunderstood messages.  One group says it is God's plan of salvation, that if we ever hope to go to heaven we must obey these rules. Another group calls it a charter for world peace and begs the nations of the earth to accept it.  Still, a third group tells us that the Sermon on the Mount does not apply today but will apply at some future time, perhaps during the tribulation or the millennial Kingdom. In a world overflowing with distractions and quick fixes, Stephanie and Ros invite you to explore meaningful Bible study experiences towards awakening fresh delight for God. Ros articulates the value of revisiting familiar Bible passages, emphasizing how repeated exposure refreshes comprehension and facilitates spiritual awakening. Bible study is not merely a checklist, but rather an enriching experience in our spiritual journey. Continuous exploration of Scripture promises fresh insights. Download the FREE recipe for the Rousselle family Moroccan chicken recipe that Ros and Stephanie mention - it is mouth-watering! Here: https://www.gospelspice.com/free  Ros describes her own experience of the “Centering on Christ” Gospel Spice Bible study. It offered her group a delightful setting to discover Christ foreshadowed in the Old Testament, and to worship Him in deeper ways. The study invites you to know Christ at a deeper level through an in-depth exploration of the wilderness Tabernacle erected by Moses. Speaking of being in the wilderness, Stephanie invites us to discover the rich setting of Israel in Jesus' day through the “In the Footsteps of Jesus” Bible study. On her very first visit to the Holy Land, Stephanie had but one goal: to walk where Jesus walked, to see the sights and skylines He saw, to touch the stones He touched, and to experience His words where He initially taught them. Scripture has never been more real and alive to her than since she experienced Jesus in Jerusalem and Galilee. And now, she invites you to do the same! Seeking genuine delight in God is richer and more fulfilling than any worldly substitute. Stephanie draws parallels between savoring the glory of God, and the experience of tasting high-quality vanilla, likening superficial pleasures to settling for imitation vanilla. Ros's anecdote about a mix-up involving vanilla in a traditional South African dessert humorously illustrates the lesson of recognizing true delight once experienced. Stephanie introduces the "French faith" study, where the French word "délice," meaning both "delight" and "delicious," enriches interpretations and brings Scriptures like "taste and see that the Lord is good" to life. French Faith is a three-course meal that aims to serve you as you feed on the word of God to intensify your faith. It's a feast of words for the spiritual senses towards more of God. Discover the symbolism and ultimate fulfillment of the Tabernacle in Christ, and in you as His dwelling place. Experience God's timeline of grace, from Eden past to Heaven future. You will leave this study with a deep understanding of the symbolism of the Tabernacle and its fulfillment in Christ, and a renewed awe and passion for God. More at https://www.gospelspice.com/tabernacle  MORE ABOUT “IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF JESUS” From the comfort of your own home, you will discover the key places of the ministry of Jesus as Stephanie teaches from Scripture and provides an abundance of resources and insights straight from her recent experience. She will share about special moments, like when she experienced a delightful, summer-drenched pine forest scent that might have been a familiar and favorite to Jesus as a child. She will invite you to one of his favorite childhood vistas, or tell you why Galileans were especially impressed with the gleaming white stones of Jerusalem. She will show you what it must have been like to walk on the Emmaus Road with Jesus, and how the Judean wilderness inspired David to write the Psalms that point us to Jesus today. More at https://www.gospelspice.com/footsteps  MORE ABOUT “GOD'S GLORY, OUR DELIGHT” Delighting in the glory of God. Does this concept strike you as reserved for spiritual contemplatives? What if, instead, it proved the highly practical, deeply foundational perspective you need right now?  Why does God's glory even matter in our day and age? How can we learn from Jesus to make His glory our true North and lifelong quest? What keeps us from fully stepping into this God-ordained purpose for our life? How do we kindle delight for God on a daily basis? And, once we have embraced God's glory as our heart's true delight, how can we then come alongside others? Embrace the greatest quest of life today! More at https://www.gospelspice.com/glory    MORE ABOUT “FRENCH FAITH” Delight in Scripture through French eyes! French Faith is a three-course meal that aims to serve you as you feed on the word of God to intensify your faith. It's a feast of words for the spiritual senses towards more of God. Unpack Scripture through the French culture and language with French words that would tell you something maybe unexpected about Christ. Host Doug Stuart delves into the fascinating world of study Bibles with returning guest Preston Sprinkle, a New York Times bestselling author and host of the Theology in the Raw podcast. Join us as we explore the innovative process behind the creation of the "Upside Down Kingdom Bible," a study Bible that merges traditional biblical scholarship with contemporary sociopolitical issues.Preston reveals the evolution of study Bibles, highlighting a shift from detailed footnotes on every verse to extended sidebars focused on fewer passages, a style that's gaining traction among younger generations like millennials and Gen Z. Although he admits a preference for the traditional footnoted approach, Preston recognizes the market trend towards engaging sidebars and essays of over 300,000 words in study notes, covering essential themes such as leadership, power, science, wealth, poverty, sexuality, gender, and grace.Doug and Preston dig into the challenge of translating Hebrew texts while maintaining their literary essence, debating the inclusion of themes like faith, allegiance, and the kingdom of God—crucial for a Bible focused on political insights. The episode also touches on the importance of selecting a diverse group of authors to ensure various viewpoints, which Preston emphasizes as key to the project. The discussion further addresses the misconception that platforming different perspectives equates to endorsement. Instead, it's about fostering dialogue and understanding, particularly in contexts of deconstructed religious beliefs. This approach is exemplified in Preston's thoughtful contributions to the study Bible on themes like sexuality, gender, and grace, all while staying true to biblical integrity.Audio Production by Podsworth Media - https://podsworth.com ★ Support this podcast ★

Since the organization of the Church, leaders have called for world-wide religious liberty and harmony: “We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may” (Articles of Faith 1:11). In this episode, Dr. Joshua M. Sears, associate professor of ancient scripture, details how we might answer the prophetic call to not only love and respect people of different faiths but to also learn from them. He discusses the importance of adapting trustworthy interfaith resources into our spiritual lives. Additionally, he details how to locate and evaluate reliable resources, and describes one ecumenical resource, BibleProject, as an example. Without diluting our doctrinal uniqueness or missionary mandate, we can build strong relationships with our religious neighbors and learn from the truth that is “scattered liberally across the globe” (Elder Christofferson).   Publications: “Learning from People of Other Faiths” (Religious Educator, 24.2, 2023) Covenant of Compassion: Caring for the Marginalized and Disadvantaged in the Old Testament (Religious Studies Center, 2021) “Study Bibles: An Introduction for Latter-day Saints” (Religious Educator, 20.3, 2019) “Deutero-Isaiah in the Book of Mormon” (Y Religion, episode 86, 2023) “Study Bibles for Saints” (Y Religion, episode 35, 2021) BibleProject Videos: https://bibleproject.com/explore/   Click here to learn more about Joshua M. Send us a Text Message.Last week, our Pastor began a new series of sermons taken from the book of Esther. In his introductory sermon, he introduced us to three persons, the first being the emperor of Persia, AHASUERUS. Our Pastor suggested that this man represents each one of us. He also introduced two women, a pair of queens, named VASHTI and Esther. Pastor suggested that VASHTI represents our spirit person when it is dormant; dead in trespass and in sin. AHASUERUS and VASHTI had no relationship; they were dead to one another. This lack of relationship left the Emperor empty and alone. But the day would come when he would meet a Jewish girl named Esther. Last week, Pastor also suggested that Esther represented our regenerated spirit persons. The meaning of this will be seen in the sermon for this morning as he introduces us to this young Jewish girl.Pastor will also introduce us to a fourth person. He, too, will have a crucial role to play. His name is Mordechai and he is the cousin of Esther. He is described as being the son of Jair, of the Hebrew tribe of Benjamin. Finis Dake, in his famous Dake's Study Bible, interprets Esther 2:5–6 as follows:"Mordecai son of Jair, the son of Shimei, the son of Kish, who had been carried into exile from Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, among those taken captive with Jeconiah king of Judah.” This means that Mordecai himself was exiled by Nebuchadnezzar meaning that he was quite aged. We do know this; according to Esther 2:7, he adopted the young girl Esther when she was orphaned at a young age, and brought up as if she were his own daughter. It is on this young girl, Esther, and this elderly man, Mordechai, that Pastor will focus on in this message.Support the Show.
