ESB has opened its new High-Powered Charging Hub in Carrickmines Park benefiting all electric vehicle (EV) drivers. The new hub in Dublin 18 has four 200kW high-power chargers which can charge eight EVs simultaneously, providing 100km of charge in as little as six minutes. The installation was in collaboration with IPUT Real Estate Dublin, owner of Carrickmines Park. Situated in the retail park just off the M50, these chargers ensure effortless access for all visitors, while eliminating concerns faced when searching for charging stations. A key retail and food destination, with six million visitors per year this new charging hub in Carrickmines Park marks a significant step towards a greener and more convenient future for all. Equipped with high power charging technology, drivers can quickly power up their electric vehicles, minimising their wait time and maximising convenience. A key milestone in 2023 was the doubling of the number of high-power chargers partially funded by the Government's Climate Action Fund. ESB has built 40 high power charging hubs nationwide over the past two years, replaced over 250 AC chargers with newer technology and upgraded a further 52 AC chargers to fast 50kW & 100kW chargers. These innovative charging hubs will play a key role in supporting Ireland's EV transition, which is critical in terms of meeting Ireland's ambitious transport targets as laid out in the Climate Action Plan.?With over 1,500 public charge points now in place across the country, ESB has delivered 20 new charging hubs and upgraded charge points over the past 12 months in several other locations. Welcoming this announcement, John Byrne, Head of eMobility at ESB, said: "The addition of eight brand new high-power EV chargers in Carrickmines is a substantial step forward in providing the necessary charging infrastructure to citizens of Dublin and beyond. As the second High-Powered Charging Hub that we have opened in Dublin in recent weeks, our hubs at Carrickmines and Blanchardstown Centre are accessible to all EV drivers and will be instrumental in helping Ireland achieve its climate change goals." "EVs represent an important part of the Irish car market and hubs like this are essential for drivers and show our dedication to ensuring the public charging network is accessible and able to support demand." John added. The installation is a collaboration with IPUT Real Estate Dublin, owner of Carrickmines Park. Its Head of Sustainability, Shane Caldwell said: "The ESB charging hub is a significant addition to Carrickmines Park and reflects our commitment towards a net zero economy. Our location makes us an important charging base for EV motorists. We are easily accessed off the M50 and there is plenty to do with shopping, dining, and restroom facilities for motorists to utilise whilst they wait. It is also an essential service for the locale, our visitors, and shoppers. Our ambition is to be among the greenest property companies in Europe and the installation of these chargers represents further progress towards that objective." See more stories here.

Anders Österlund slog 2023 tre svenska rekord i M50. Veckans Sponsor: Coldzyme
Welcome to The Nonlinear Library, where we use Text-to-Speech software to convert the best writing from the Rationalist and EA communities into audio. This is: 2023 Prediction Evaluations, published by Zvi on January 8, 2024 on LessWrong. It is that time of the year. One must ask not only whether predictions were right or wrong, whether one won or lost, but what one was and should have been thinking, whether or not good decisions were made, whether the market made sense. The main subject will be the 2023 ACX Predictions, where I performed buy/sell/hold along with sharing my logic. The numbers quoted are from mid-February 2023, first Manifold, then Metaculus. Section 1: World Politics Will Vladimir Putin be President of Russia at the end of 2023 (85%/90%)? Last year I thought markets were too confident Putin would keep power. This year I think this is not confident enough and Metaculus is more accurate at 90%. Metaculus is also doing a better job adjusting as time passes. Things seem to be stabilizing, and every day without big bad news is good news for Putin here on multiple levels. I bought M500 of YES shares, which moved this to 86%. I increased my position later, and won M179. The market had occasional spikes downward when Putin looked to potentially be in danger, and for a while it failed to decay properly. Looking back, there was clearly risk that events in Ukraine could have led to Putin's ouster, and he also could have head health issues. It was clear that I could have gotten much better per diem odds later in the year. So even though I won this bet, I don't think it was especially good, and Metaculus was overconfident. Will Ukraine control the city of Sevastopol at the end of 2023 (14%/8%)? Getting Sevastopol is a heavy lift. Russia is not about to abandon it, Ukraine has other priorities first, and Ukraine's ability to go on offensives is far from unlimited even in good scenarios. Metaculus is at 8% and once again that sounds more right to me. I bought M250 of NO here and M250 of NO in another similar market that was trading modestly higher, driving the price here to 13%. I think this was a good bet. Certainly Russia could have completely collapsed, but even then holding onto Crimea was likely. I won M52 here and M50 in the other market. There wasn't much decay until the second half of the year, but also things looked good for Ukraine for a while, so I think the market acted reasonably relative to itself. Will Ukraine control the city of Luhansk at the end of 2023 (28%/13%)? This spent a bunch of time near 50% in early January, then went down. Once again Metaculus has been consistently lower and it is down at 13%. That feels very low, I'd probably be closer to 20% although I am doing much less work keeping up with the war these days, but 28% is a lot given how things are progressing right now. I bought M250 of NO shares, driving the price to 25%. I won M92. I think the assessment of 20% here sounds reasonable. It would not have been that shocking if Ukraine had made it to Luhansk, but it was never likely. Will Ukraine control the city of Zaporizhzhia at the end of 2023 (81%/69%)? Metaculus is at 69%. Here I'm more inclined to lean to the Manifold number, and would want to do research before I committed much. It is not great to be selling 81% shots in prediction markets, in general. I bought 10 NO shares to keep tracking. This resolved YES. I bought out on September 6 at 94%, losing M4 on net. I am not following closely enough to know what the right price would have been. Will there be a lasting cease-fire in the Russia-Ukraine war at the end of 2023 (25%/24%)? Here Manifold roughly agrees and is at 24%, down several percent in the last few days which gives me pause about selling. As everyone digs in rhetorically and literally this does seem like it is getting less likely, and the criteria seems easy to not fulfil, but a year is a long time. I bought M10 of NO for tracking purposes. On reflection I think this was to...

There's 536 horsepower and 586 lb-ft of instant torque for your right foot to play with and it's all enjoyed from a lovely well-crafted cabin. From the exterior that's nearly identical to a Grand Coupe 4-Series to the silent powertrain, it's a stealthy way to have a great time on twisty roads. The range? Well… that depends. Tom Voelk checks out a well-optioned M50 and finds it to be powerful, engaging and even kind of practical.

TESLA HALTS WORK AT SHANGHAI FACTORY FOR TWO DAYS AMID CHINA COVID CURBS - Tesla (TSLA.O) is suspending production at its Shanghai factory for two days, according to a notice sent internally and to suppliers, as China tightens COVID restrictions to curb the country's latest outbreak. - The Shanghai factory runs around the clock, and suppliers and Tesla staff were told on Wednesday in the notice, reviewed by Reuters, that production would be suspended for Wednesday and Thursday. - Many cities across China, including Shanghai, have been rolling out strict movement controls to stem the country's largest COVID-19 outbreak in two years. The measures have also caused factory shutdowns in parts of the country, putting pressure on supply chains. Original Source : https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/exclusive-tesla-stops-work-shanghai-factory-two-days-amid-china-covid-curbs-2022-03-16/ - "We are actively cooperating with the government's requirements for nucleic acid testing and other epidemic prevention requirements, and at the same time are doing our best to ensure production, overcoming difficulties together," the company said in a statement sent to Reuters. Original Source : https://uk.news.yahoo.com/tesla-says-trying-keep-production-022841904.html TESLA HACKER INDICATES MODEL Y STANDARD RANGE+ VARIANT COULD ROLLOUT FROM GIGA TEXAS FIRST - A Tesla hacker has discovered language in Software Update 2022.8.2 that seems to indicate a Model Y Standard Range+ variant will be rolling out from Gigafactory Texas initially, as deliveries are set to begin soon. - Last week, it was confirmed that a new Model Y variant packing just 279 miles of range was added to the EPA's FuelEconomy.gov website, confirming the vehicle was approved by the agency to enter the stream of commerce. Teslarati confirmed this by recovering several documents from the EPA, which confirmed that Tesla had applied for certification of the new Model Y variant on February 2, receiving a Certificate of Conformity from the EPA on February 16 - the new Model Y's range rating had Tesla enthusiasts stumped at whether the vehicle would equip the 4680 cells that Tesla confirmed would be in Austin-made vehicles. The low range rating seemed to indicate that Tesla could be rolling out a Standard Range vehicle using LFP cells - While the range ratings and batteries used in the Model Y are not present in the internal reference, green said the model name, Standard Range+, and location of manufacture, Gigafactory Texas, are included. Often, these people are diehard fans, keen to promote the company's prowess and show off its new driver assist features. Sometimes, though, they overshare — posting videos that show exactly when and how Tesla's software gets it wrong. - John Bernal, a former Tesla employee who reviewed the company's FSD Beta software on his YouTube channel AI Addict says he was fired by the company last month after posting a video that showed his Tesla hitting a bollard. - Bernal says that prior to his dismissal he was told verbally by his managers that he “broke Tesla policy” and that his YouTube channel was a “conflict of interest” (though his written separation notice did not specify a reason for his dismissal). Bernal said he'd previously been approached by managers after posting a video in March 2021 that showed a number of close calls with pedestrians and cyclists while using the FSD beta software. - A number of FSD Beta testers post reviews of the company's software on YouTube, and Bernal says he intends to maintain his channel (though he now needs to borrow friends' cars to test FSD Beta). As Bernal told CNBC: “I still care about Tesla, vehicle safety and finding and fixing bugs.” Original Source : https://www.theverge.com/2022/3/16/22980580/tesla-fired-employee-john-bernal-ai-addict-youtube-full-self-driving-beta-reviews 2022 WORLD CAR OF THE YEAR'S THREE FINALISTS ARE ALL ELECTRIC CROSSOVERS - Crossovers of all shapes and sizes are in high demand right now and it seems the very best ones are electric. The three finalists for the World Car of the year competition have been announced and they're all sporty electric high riders - Ford Mustang Mach-E, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6. - The latter has already been crowned (European) Car of the Year for 2022, so its presence among the top three is not surprising. Hyundai Ioniq 5 is equally talented and geared more towards comfort, but its polarizing design is not as unanimously appreciated as the Kia's. - The winners in all six categories will be announced live at the 2022 New York Auto Show on April 13. Out on the open road, electric energy consumption is an impressive 3.68 miles/kWh - 1.6-litre T-GDi engine that works in tandem with a 66.9kW permanent magnet traction electric motor and a 13.8kWh lithium-ion polymer battery pack. The high-voltage battery sits centrally between the two axles under the body of the SUV - t on-board charger (OBC) system is rated at 7.2kW, making it the fastest-charging Kia PHEV to-date. The battery can complete a full charge in just 1hr 45m. Original Source : https://electriccarsreport.com/2022/03/43-mile-ev-range-for-all-new-kia-sportage-plug-in-hybrid/ BMW AIMS TO SELL OVER 2 MILLION ELECTRIC VEHICLES BY THE END OF 2025 - BMW announced that it is ramping up its e-mobility targets, “confirmed by the success of its all-electric models to date”. Initially, this refers primarily to the growing range of electric vehicle models, but electric sales are expected to increase further “rapidly”. - As the Group announced in the context of its business figures for 2021, it will already have 15 fully electric models in production this year, covering around 90 per cent of the current segments. However, BMW also included pre-production vehicles in the figure. Presumably, vehicles such as the i4 eDrive 40 and i4 M50 will also count as two models. - The big technology shift is scheduled for 2025 with the ‘New Class' debut, but the New Class will play only a minor role in cumulative sales by the end of 2025. “With the BMW iX and BMW i4, we have launched what are probably the best e-cars of the present day – at least the test results and the high demand from our customers speak for themselves,” says BMW CEO Oliver Zipse. “And with the BMW i7, we're going one better this year.” - BMW is pinning high hopes on the New Class, on which models from the size of a 1 Series to the 7 Series are to be based in perspective as a “cluster architecture” – and “uncompromisingly” designed for electric drives. A “completely new electric drive” reduces consumption and increases range. BMW does not provide details on this; the current fifth-generation involves current-excited synchronous motors. - If the new, more optimistic scenario materializes, annual sales of fully electric vehicles by the BMW Group could exceed 1.5 million units as early as 2030. - Just a few days ago, BMW called for political support in expanding the hydrogen refuelling infrastructure. - Instead of a 700-bar refuelling station every 150 kilometres by 2027, BMW called for intervals to be reduced to 100 kilometres to support hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.
