“Whether it's true or not, that's what I've got to believe. That's the faith I've got to have moving forward. Regardless of what other people say, or what other people think, there is power in truth and being honest with myself. There's got to be faith and there's got to be belief that I not only can close that gap, but that I am in that tier and I can compete with the best.”My guest for today's episode is Clayton Young. While Conner Mantz's 2:05 may have stolen the headlines, Clayton Young once again proved why he belongs in any conversation about the best marathoners in America. On a competitive day in Boston, he ran 2:0:7:04 – nearly a full minute personal best to finish seventh overall, tying his highest ever finish at a World Marathon Major. He did it despite a calf cramp at mile 20 and on an up and down lead up that included some frustrating half marathon results. But that's the kind of thing about Clayton's success, quiet consistency, big stage composure, and a resilience that keeps him right alongside the best, including his training partner and Olympic teammate, Conner Mantz. This Boston result marks their fourth straight marathon finishing as the top two Americans in every field, and every time Clayton Young shows up.In this conversation, we get into the Boston Marathon as it unfolded, what was actually going through his head when that mile 20 move got made, when that cramp hit, and why he's so good at staying in the mix.Hosts: Chris Chavez | @chris_j_chavez on InstagramGuest: Clayton Young | @_clayton_young_ on Instagram SUPPORT OUR SPONSORSOLIPOP: Big name sodas are rolling out bold new flavors in 2025, but the real buzz is happening in the prebiotic pop aisle. On this day in history in 1773, a group of colonists boarded British ships in a pivotal protest that lead to the American Revolution. A lesson in standing up for what you are for, not just what you are against. Because of the colonists' convictions, the revolution spread from Boston to Philadelphia where in 1787, their ideals were captured in the creation of the Constitution. His first project of 2019 dropped this week - “A Cold World - a full length endeavor with another MC that’s pushed himself above the fray as of late, Washington D.C.’s own Ankhlejohn. We dug in with the Villain on the day of its release to get the behind the scenes story on how it came to be, the relationship Villain and John have built up to this point, and the concept for the artwork. Villain also discusses how what was supposed to originally only a be a single with Eto turned into a full EP, in addition to the impeccable timing of the release just prior to Muggs’ & Eto’s “Hell’s Roof”. There’s a lot more inside - what’s that, an upcoming project with another villain - Rim Da Villain, that is - is in the works? Alright, we have to stop giving up the goods so easily - just press play, cop “A Cold World” from Vinyl Villain & Ankhlejohn today and remember that Doe & Meeks are always providing the good people with that #SmithsonianGrade #TwiceAWeek #WeAreTheGard // southernvangard.com // @southernvangard on #applepodcasts #stitcherradio #soundcloud #mixcloud #youtube // #hiphop #rap #undergroundhiphop #boombap #DJ #mix #interview #podcast #ATL #WORLDWIDE #RIPCOMBATJACK Recorded live April 15, 2019 @ Dirty Blanket Studios, Marietta, GA southernvangard.com @southernvangard on #applepodcasts #soundcloud #youtube #spotifypodcast #googlepodcasts #stitcherradio #mixcloud #SmithsonianGrade #TwiceAWeek #WeAreTheGard twitter/IG: @southernvangard @jondoeatl @cappuccinomeeks

Tom Caferella always dreamed of following in his grandfather’s footsteps (a very successful landlord) and become a successful real estate mogul. Instead, he followed everyone’s advice and took on a traditional 9-to-5 job as an accountant. The problem: his heart was in real estate investing. It didn’t take long to get fired from his job due to his daydreaming about his passion. Instead of staying knocked down, Tom co-founded Ocean City Development, a real estate investment company based out of Boston, Massachusetts. Tom’s team has acquired over 500 properties over the past 5 years to flip, wholesale, and buy and hold. Tom is also co-owner of Cameron Real Estate Group, a real estate brokerage of over 200 agents that focuses on finding investment deals for Tom to buy. This Boston-based investor is a father of 3 who believes you can “do what you love, and never work a day in your life.” He knows for many people, that’s real estate investing. On this episode of Real Estate Investing for Women Tom Shared: 1. How to get someone to close all of your seller appointments for you for FREE so you never have to meet with tire kickers again 2. How to convert every lead in to cash, even if they don’t want to sell at a discount (this made me over a million last year) 3. How to scale your business 10x using a little know system taken from the auto-industry, so you can spend more time with your family 4. How to create an UNLIMITED marketing budget using the “double down” technique. If you had a cool $500k to spend on marketing next year, could you be successful? 5. The one mistake that set me back 5 Years in my real estate investment career.... and how to eliminate the risk of doing the same with one phone call Learn more about Tom by going to: http://www.tomcafarella.com/p/my-story.html Follow Tom at: https://www.linkedin.com/in/tomcafarella https://twitter.com/tomcafarella https://www.facebook.com/OceanCityDevelopment

BANG! @southernvangard #radio presents the the Jon Glass interview session! This Boston producer has been on quite the come up over the past few years as he’s been behind the boards for notable folks like Token, Hopsin, Joyner Lucas, Reks and countless others. He’s currently on a tear right now with his weekly single series with Soulspazm & FiveSe7enMusic, so we had to sit down to get his backstory and see what else he’s cooking up for us in the near future. Glass co-collaborator and friend of Southern Vangard Radio, J57, also came by to hang out in-studio, so it made for quite a party! Lest not forget that Mr. Glass also gave us THREE exclusives that we rocked on our Ep134 mix, so make sure you go check those joints out as well.
