In a day when quick answers, overnight solutions, and canned responses are the hope and desire, God's plans often feel slow or non-existent. If it takes more than a few minutes or days to get direction and see results, we can feel like God doesn't care or isn't present.We want quick answers to questions like:What's my purpose?What should I do about the difficult relationships in my life?Life isn't fair. Why can't I get a solution to this unfair life?Enter the life of Joseph. A man who was given a dream by God as a teenager only to see his life move in the complete opposite direction of that dream. Where was God? What was God's plan? Is this still God's plan? These and many others could've easily plagued Joseph as he was sold into slavery, then accused of a crime he didn't commit, and confined to a prison cell. However, the Bible repeatedly says, God was with Joseph. But life wasn't following Joseph's dream or plan - or so it seemed.In this series we will discuss how to trust God's plan when it seems to be taking longer than expected and in directions you never intended. When God has a plan for life the only thing necessary is time for God's plan to come to complete fruition. God never left Joseph - God never leaves you. Through the life of Joseph we can learn how to see God in what feels like the detours to God's plan, we can learn to rely on God in the valleys of God's plan, and we can learn to trust God's plan.

Terry has a Bachelor's Degree in theology from Cloverdale College and certifications in two Lay Pastoral Ministry institutes. Since becoming Catholic in 1977, she has served the Church in a wide variety of parish and diocesan ministries, on staff and as a volunteer. She has been vetted by the Diocese of St. Petersburg and Good News Ministries of Tampa Bay is included in the Official Catholic Directory. Her personal testimony, shared at speaking engagements and in her writings, includes how the Holy Spirit brought her into the Catholic faith in 1977 by giving her instant faith in the True Presence of Christ in the Eucharist, and how a few years later Jesus introduced her to God the Father (her human dad was emotionally and spiritually distant) and to the Blessed Mother (raised a Protestant, it took a miracle to start that relationship). Home is both an origin and a destination. Friends, When the time is right, a man must leave his father and mother to find his True Father and Mother in God's heart. Returning home to God is the destiny of his soul and the consummation of his initiation.  Linger.  Every man must leave his mom and dad to find his God.  On a soul level, most men, to some degree, still haven't left home. In walking with men for over two decades and paying attention to my challenges, resisting leaving our “home” is one of the inhibitors to becoming mature and more fully united to God.  Most of us know this resistance and challenge all too well, though we may not have been able to name it.  If a man has never entirely left, he can never come home again and know it for the first time. In it all, our Father does not pull away from us. His affection never leaves us, and his daring invitation remains: Receive the kingdom afresh like a little boy, innocent again. Free, here and now.  So often, we mistakenly conclude that our boy-hearted innocence is the source of our pain, stirring us to open our hearts and only to be so deeply let down.  Yet along the path of recovered innocence, we will find ourselves finally at home with God.  Let's take another deep dive together.   For the Kingdom, Morgan

As a church, we are setting aside today to emphasize the importance of foster care and adoption. Jesus' brother, James, wrote a letter to early Christians and his words are striking. The clearest evidence of true religion shaped by the Gospel is the way the faith community cares for the marginalized—specifically widows and orphans. This sentiment is echoed throughout Scripture. Furthermore, one of the most beautiful metaphors of the Gospel is that we have been adopted into God's family, with God as our True Father. As we bring attention to this issue, we hope that it might lead some to consider foster care and adoption, while calling the entire church to a posture of love and support for those who do so. We will also share a bit about some ministries involved in this sort of care and cast vision for a ministry that could lead our church to create a culture of care for marginalized children and for families who get involved in adoption and foster care.
