But to his victims, Jesse was nothing more than a cold-blooded killer, one who used the war as a convenient excuse to lead a life of violence and destruction. But where does the truth lie? What occurred during Jesse's childhood that turned him to a life of crime? How old was he when he first went to war? How'd he survive two separate gunshot wounds to the chest before his 18th birthday? And is it true he married his own cousin? Join me today as we explore the life and times of Jesse James! Also discussed are Bloody Bill Anderson, William Quantrill, the Lawrence Massacre, & the Missouri Bushwhackers. It's time for another trip back to the movies with the PWR Boys, where they revisit a very special episode of Family Matters featuring the Bushwhackers! In this episode, Carl and Steve don the masks of the Psycho Twins and engage in an all-out brawl with Luke and Butch at WrestleRama. The PWR Boys discuss Vince McMahon's strategy of using his talents for sitcoms as a form of cross-branding. They also question whether Luke and Butch were the right choices for the 1994 episode, given WWE's financial struggles at the time. It's an intriguing discussion that offers a unique perspective on the history of Family Matters and WWE. What's up, dudes? It's all about WWF Prime Time Wrestling Halloween 1989, battle royale style with Jeremy Phelps the Alamo City Santa, CM Chuck from Just Another Friday Night, Joe from Now Watch This, Manny from Feliz Christmas, Merry Navidad, and CJ from Rose Suchak Ladder! We talk Bobby the Brain and Gorilla! Also, we dive into Hogan and Savage! We body slam Andre the Giant and the Red Rooster! This episode has it all!Airing October 30, 1989, the matches begin with Red Rooster taking on Greg “The Hammer” Valentine, however an interruption by Rugged Ronnie Garvin disqualifies Rooster. Mean Gene recaps the Hulk Hogan/Ted Dibiasi match. Zeus and Hulk fight, though Dibiasi hits Hulk from behind. Luckily, Jake the Snake dops in and saves Hulk. Meanwhile Bobby and Gorilla argue about trick or treating, and plug the Survivor Series matchup on Thanksgiving. Oh, and Roddy Piper dressed as Bobby the Brain for Halloween.Tito Santana performed the Mexican Hammer and defeated Bob Emory. Subsequently, Haku and Andre stunned Mike Williams and Chuck Casey. As well, Dusty Rhodes beat Joe Cruise with a big elbow. Consequently, Roddy also beat Brother Love in studio C, and puts a skull mask on him! Finally, Mark Young collided with the monstrous Rick the Model Martel. Young, seemingly in trouble from a drop kick, comes back with a choke to pin and win!Survivor Series plugs? Constantly. Weasel costumes? Uh huh. Bushwhackers licking Roddy Piper during their promo?!?! What?!?? This week on the Stories podcast, we tell of the harrowing events of the first Battle of Saltville and its tragic aftermath. Join Steve Gilly and Rod Mullins as they recount the significance of Saltville's salt mines during the Civil War, a resource as valuable as gold for preserving food. We also shed light on a lesser-known but profoundly impactful event involving the brave soldiers of the Fifth US Colored Cavalry. These newly formed African American troops, composed mainly of formerly enslaved men, faced not only the enemy but also prejudice and abuse from their own ranks. Despite these challenges, their courage during the battle earned them respect and admiration. What happened to them and their commanders after the battle, however, was harrowing, in an event that's come to be known as the Saltville massacre. Butch Miller & Luke Williams had a 36-year long career as tag team partners as The Bushwhackers (or Sheepherders). You may know them as goofy comedy characters in late 80s & early 90s WWF, but did you know about their legendary run through the territories as a feared, brutal heel tag team? We've got matches with The Fantastics, Roddy Piper, The Rougeaus and more to show just what The Bushwhackers are all about. When my friend Ian and I first crossed paths, we were far from the recovery warriors we've become today. In a candid heart-to-heart, we unpack the laughter-laced struggles of our addiction journeys and the pivotal role of community in our transformation. This episode isn't just about our hardships; it's a story of the bonds that held us together and the powerful shift from isolation to inclusion in the fight against substance abuse. As we lay bare our experiences, from Ian's custody battles to my penchant for leaving a trail of cigarette burns, we navigate the darker and lighter moments with equal honesty. We talk about our group, the Bushwhackers, and how the support systems we found helped us claw back trust, relationships, and a sense of self. The conversation extends to discussing the chilling rise of powerful drugs like fentanyl, the legal system's grappling with substance use, and our personal fears as parents, emphasizing the life-or-death importance of a solid support network.Wrapping up with a heartfelt message of hope, we stress the healing potential when one addict extends a hand to another. It's more than recovery; it's about the joy of service and the vitality of empathy in welcoming back those who have stumbled. Our tales are more than personal triumph; they're an invitation to join a community where everyone's story matters and where the collective strength offers a beacon of hope to those still finding their way home.#REACHOUT https://linktr.ee/nsawithej
