We have a special subject for you Creative Team fans. A Take it up with Creative that will be near and dear to hearts of every wrestling fan. Today, it will take a lot of "brains" to come up with the best story for what would be Bobby "The Brain" Heenan's last run as a professional wrestling performer. Ron & Cole dive into the early 2000's and see what sort of chaos wrestling's favorite weasel can stir up. Who would the brain align himself with? Who in the early 2000s could benefit from such a valuable asset that is possibly the greatest manager of all time. It's Take it up with Creative - Bobby "The Brain" Heenan's Final Run! Enjoy!
As wrestling fans, who doesn't love Bobby “The Brain” Heenan and loved the body of work he gave all those years. There might be 1 person currently that loved Bobby more than anybody, and that's loving Bobby the father & husband. That one person is his daughter Jessica Heenan-Solt. We had the opportunity to be able to talk with Jessica about growing up in the business, with legends as “uncles” and also had spoken with the fun stories as well as the personal stories. Let's welcome Jessica Heenan-Solt! WWE Smackdown star Grayson Waller recently made headlines by starting an online feud with Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift. He invoked the name of the rumored celebrity couple when he made this statement: “Hey, good for Trav. Like, I'm not the kind of guy that would settle for a 6, but each to their own. Me personally, I like a bit of spice.” The other topic we tackle on this episode is the debate over the greatest wrestling manager of all time. This follows an appearance over the summer by Paul Heyman on ESPN when he was asked who the GOAT (Greatest Of All Time) of wrestling managers was. Heyman says it's him. But when he was asked about legendary manager Bobby “The Brain” Heenan (who many consider the GOAT) he said “Screw him, he's dead.” So we take up the debate over who the best of all time really is.

Kate and Luke from Epic Toys join us this week to go through the updates of their wrestling figures
The Heenan Family was a stable of wrestlers managed by Bobby "The Brain" Heenan. Heenan managed wrestlers under the Heenan Family name in the AWA, NWA, and the WWF. Heenan notoriously disliked the term, stating "A stable is a place where you keep a bunch of fly-infested horses," and instead referred to his collective wrestlers as his "family." The name moved with him, and changed members frequently. At one time, the members of the "Heenan Family" posed the greatest threat to Hulkamania during Hogans big push in the 80's.

Vince Russo and Eric Bischoff have been rehired by WCW, this time both of them will be handling booking duties together and their first order of business is to do a hard reset of WCW starting next week. That means all the titles will be stripped and all the current storylines will be scrapped in order to assign new champions at Spring Stampede and start new feuds and storylines in the lead up to the PPV. So what's this mean for Thunder? Well, how about a clip show highlighting the "best of Thunder" up until this point with Mike Tenay and Bobby The Brain Heenan hosting and putting over Russo and Bischoff? Ok, we know that's overdelivering already but get this, what if WCW also throws in an exclusive sit down interview with Hulk Hogan? Now we're cookin'! What a time to be rewatching Thunder! The very first ever WrestleMania was held at Madison Square Garden in New York City on March 31st, 1985. The brainchild of WWF owner Vince McMahon, WrestleMania played host to roughly 19,000 people at the Garden and was seen across the United States by over 1 million people via closed-circuit television. At the time, it was the largest pay-per-view wrestling event ever. In the years following, Wrestlemania would become the most successful and longest-running pro wrestling event in history, even setting several attendance records with crowds of over 100,000 people cramming stadiums to watch the show. But that doesn't mean it was all good...which brings us to this episode of the podcast. In 1993, 9 years after that first WrestleMania, the WWF (now WWE) decided to try their luck at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas with what was planned to be the most opulent WrestleMania ever. There were elephants, camels, Roman Gladiators, chariots, and even an appearance by Cleopatra & Julius Caesar. Despite all of that, WrestleMania IX is often regarded as "the worst WrestleMania of all time" and my guest is here to help break down all the reasons why. Mark Hoke is the host of The Mark Hoke Show, the number 1 rated Pro Wrestling radio show in Las Vegas. As WrestleMania IX gets set to celebrate its 30th anniversary, Mark and I went in-depth discussing the event; everything from the choice of venue to Bobby "The Brain" Heenan's memorable entrance to the politics behind the controversial ending. You can listen to The Mark Hoke Show live Sunday mornings at 8am PT on Las Vegas's KDWN 101.5 FM and online via the Audacy app, or listen when you want wherever you get your podcasts. After what felt like an eternity of odd couple commentary teams the king has arrived to take back his throne. That's right, BOBBY "THE BRAIN" HEENAN takes his rightful spot alongside Mike Tenay behind the Thunder commentary desk, a position we're sure he totally asked for and wanted back this whole time. This episode also features the second to last televised WCW match in Scott Hall's career. The Total Package continues to break arms and make custom folding chairs on his road to a Featured Attraction match at SuperBrawl 2000 against Hulk Hogan. This episode of WCW Monday Nitro is one of Nick's top wrestling shows ever. He recounts how he recorded the replay of this show on VHS, in addition to some other adult-oriented items on that VHS. Hey, we were coming up on WCW's adult-themed pay-per-view, Road Wild, so why not? Lex Luger would beat "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan for the WCW Championship on this night, and even though he only held the title for five nights, this show still has one of the greatest moments in wrestling due to many factors. Also, Ted DiBiase joined the Steiner Brothers after leaving the nWo, Curt Hennig and DDP are in the midst of a heated feud, much like Lee Marshall and Bobby "The Brain" Heenan, and so much more on this episode of Nitro. -- Follow us on Twitter [@_piccone] [@VaughnMJohnson] [@ShootersRadio] You can subscribe to The Straight Shooters on the following platforms: [Apple Podcasts] [Google Podcasts] [Spotify] [iHeartRadio] [Amazon] [Audacy] [TuneIn Radio] [Pandora] [Stitcher] [Spreaker] [Player FM] and wherever else you get your podcasts! Who are the best villains in AWA history? There is no shortage of rulebreakers over the territory's history. This week Mick Karch and George Schire make a list of those that fit the definition of a "heel." What makes a good one? What were they like outside of the ring? And did fans ever try and test their toughness against them? It's a fun list that includes The Crusher, Bobby “The Brain” Heenan, Jerry Blackwell, Baron Von Raschke, Sheik Adnan Al Kaissie and a ton more!

This week we get into one of the most entertaining professional wrestling personalities of all time, and that's the one and only Bobby "The Brain" Heenan. How did wrestlers feel about working with him? Was there ever concern from wrestlers that he would get more shine/over shadow them? Who came up with the “weasel” and how did he feel about it? Plus what made him different from other wrestlers that Vince McMahon was hiring, plus Bobby as a referee–but NOT where you might think! And how did he say goodbye to fans? That and so much more.
In this weeks episode of AWA Unleashed, we touch on some of the topics that listeners have requested. When we say we want listener and fan interaction, we mean it. It's a random fire, quick moving episode that gives a little tease of what's coming up. Some of the ideas include: Larry Hennig, Curt Hennig, Greg Gagne, Eddie Sharkey, "Sodbuster” Kenny Jay, Bobby “The Brain” Heenan, WrestleRock, Team Challenge Series, enhancement talent aka "jobbers", and more. We have so much more we're going to discuss, but this is just a small sample of what's coming up.
Bobby "The Brain" Heenan. Paul Heyman. Arguably the two greatest managers of all time. But, which one is *the* greatest? Brian, Isaac & Patrick give their take.
Welcome back to Reading Wrestling, your encyclopedia on the art of pro wrestling. Today's entry takes us to a special role in wrestling, the impish, the sly, the mischievous provocateurs. Contemporary wrestling narratives often build to a flammable situation and just require someone to bring a match to set it all off. Enter these masters of disaster. Whether the instigator of conflict is a ruthless heel, a wronged fan-favorite looking to dole out comeuppance, or just a troll in it for the fun of it, these figures are the catalyst for chaos. Put another way, some feuds build to their own boiling points, such as the explosion of the Mega Powers; others need a little help. The provocateurs can be managers, like Jimmy Hart or Bobby “The Brain” Heenan, rogue referees, as when Vince McMahon appointed Mike Tyson a ref, or comic relief figures, as when R-Truth's 24/7 Title Express pulls into the station. All in all, someone's gotta get this party started, and you can always count on your friendly neighborhood provocateur to kick it all off. We hope today's conversation on this topic will provoke a reaction. We start off discussing the role of the provocateur in wrestling, and somehow we ended up on the topic of...clowns? Starting with Doink the Clown, we discuss the role of the clown in causing trouble and generally unsettling order, either in a heelish delight for discomfort or a good-natured, fun romp. The topic of clowns digs up some uneasy childhood memories from the wrestler-talkers, and we take a diversion into some unexpected territory...The topic eventually comes back around to a meta-point about wrestling itself being a medium that trolls high art. Even in its scriptedness and beckoning for people to chide fans with "But you know it's not real, ROIGHT?! [sic; Philadelphia pronunciation intentional]," wrestling makes a mockery of reality, much to the chagrin of its opponents. And that mockery is what makes it such a powerful medium. If someone didn't start none, there wouldn't be none. So the role of the provocateur is crucial in setting off the feuds that shape wrestling's story lines. So come and hang out for another episode of Reading Wrestling, and write in to tell us who your favorite provocateur is!

ITS TRULY AN HONOR TO HAVE SAT DOWN WITH THE WWE LEGEND THE BROOKLYN BRAWLER AS AN OVER 30 YEAR VETERAN OF THE WWE HE HAD STORIES FOR US THAT WERE TOLD FOR THE FIRST TIME ON OUR SHOW. SO MANY GREAT STORIES OF ANDRE THE GIANT, ULTIMATE WARRIOR, HULK HOGAN, MACHO MAN RANDY SAVAGE & THE LIST GOES ON CAREER NOTES Lombardi began his WWF career in late 1983, competing under his real name and being used primarily as an enhancement talent until early 1989, when he was repackaged as The Brooklyn Brawler. The Brawler character was that of a street fighter, wearing battered jeans and torn New York Yankees T-shirts. Under the tutelage of Bobby "The Brain" Heenan, the Brawler entered a feud with The Red Rooster. When The Rooster left Heenan's villain group and became a fan favorite, Heenan stated that he had made The Rooster a star and could do the same with anyone in the Federation. The Rooster defeated The Brawler on Saturday Night's Main Event and then Heenan at WrestleMania V. The Brawler's alliance with Heenan was then phased out and he returned to his former enhancement talent status (retaining the Brawler gimmick), a role he would remain in throughout the early 1990s. Lombardi made a return appearance in the November 15, 2010 "Raw Goes Old School" episode of Raw as the Brooklyn Brawler with Harvey Wippleman as his manager. He lost in a match against Ezekiel Jackson. The Brooklyn Brawler made a surprise return to pay-per-view on December 16, 2012 at the TLC pay-per-view (which took place in Brooklyn), teaming with The Miz and Alberto Del Rio to defeat 3MB (Heath Slater, Drew McIntyre and Jinder Mahal). Brawler won the match for his team via submission with a Boston crab on Mahal. In his first win in a wrestling match since 1991, the Brooklyn Brawler actually pinned and beat Triple H on July 6, 2000 at WWE Smackdown! (with the help of WWE superstar Chris Jericho and WWE tag team Kai En Tai) Was Dwayne Johnson's first WWF opponent in a dark (non-televised) match in 1996. In keeping with his Brooklyn Brawler trademark, Lombardi lost the match. Also played Kim Chee (Kamala's manager) in the WWE and also played the fourth Doink The Clown!
