Treat Yourself Like Someone Who Matters

Play Episode Listen Later May 15, 2025 40:24

I spent years showing up for everyone but me. Keeping promises to other people. Breaking the ones I made to myself. This episode is about the truth behind that pattern—where it comes from, why we call self-abandonment “loyalty,” and how to finally cut it at the root. I break down the difference between discipline and punishment, how boundaries start with values, and why healing has to lead to something bigger than just you. Because if your growth never leaves the journal, and your “self-work” becomes your full identity—you're not free. This is about coming home to yourself, living with integrity, and treating yourself like someone who actually matters.   Kate Hastings | Mental Health Coach

In this episode, I break down why your wins aren't sticking, your losses feel personal, and your emotions keep running the show. I share what used to drive me—chasing achievement highs, punishing myself for every misstep, and confusing shame with discipline. It worked—until it didn't. I walk through the actual definition of debriefing, why it's backed by neuroscience and performance psychology, and how to use it as a tool to stop repeating emotional patterns. You'll learn how to reflect on losses without spiraling, how to break down wins so they become repeatable, and how to process emotions so they stop owning you. This is about setting standards, pulling out one small shift, and finally leading yourself like a pro.

The Gap Between Knowing and Believing

You don't live what you know—you live what you believe, and if your body doesn't feel safe with the truth, it'll keep choosing what's familiar, even if it's toxic. I used to say I wanted real love, but I kept choosing chaos, not because I didn't know better, but because I hadn't healed enough to believe I was worthy of better. The gap between knowing and believing is where sabotage lives—because belief isn't built on facts, it's built on repetition, safety, and identity. Integration is when your thoughts, emotions, and actions finally agree—when you stop proving your worth and start embodying it. So ask yourself: where are you living out a lie you no longer agree with—and what would change if you started acting like the truth was already yours?   Kate Hastings/Mental Health Coach  Phenyx.fit

This episode is a wake-up call. We're not losing because we're incapable—we're losing because we're skipping the basics. Everyone's chasing hacks, aesthetics, and highlight reels, but nobody's mastering the stuff that actually builds a life. Today, I break down what it really means to simplify, to show up with discipline, and to stop outsourcing your power to motivation or convenience. I talk about why consistency beats intensity, why your excuses are just polished versions of avoidance, and how getting back to your standards will save you from the spiral. This is about routines, not rewards. Systems, not hype. It's not sexy—but it's what works. If your life feels off track, this episode will pull you back to center. This isn't just about getting better—it's about getting honest. If you want to build a life you're proud of, it starts here. Not with more noise, but with a return to the fundamentals. Listen in, take notes, and then apply it—because mastering the basics is what separates the ones who talk from the ones who lead.     Phenyx Fit Kate Hastings Podcast  @coachkate1  Mental Health Coach      https://missionmedus.com

How Unrealistic Expectations Can Sabotage Your Confidence

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 10, 2025 55:06

Unrealistic expectations are rarely random—they're often rooted in early experiences where love, attention, or safety were earned rather than freely given. As children, we absorb the unspoken rules of approval: be perfect, achieve more, don't mess up. These rules become internalized standards we carry into adulthood, showing up in our careers, relationships, and personal goals. We think we're aiming high, being disciplined, or pushing for excellence—but what we're actually doing is reenacting a belief system where worth must be proven. This pressure creates a dangerous cycle: impossible standards lead to inevitable “failure,” which leads to internalized shame and dwindling confidence. This is the subtle art of self-sabotage. It doesn't always look like destruction—it often looks like drive. You set the bar just out of reach, and when you can't meet it, you turn inward and question your value. The loop is brutal: you fail to hit a mark that was never realistic, and instead of questioning the standard, you question yourself. The high-achieving mask stays on, but underneath is exhaustion, burnout, and a growing disconnect from your authentic self. You don't feel proud—you feel pressured. You don't feel accomplished—you feel behind. And it's all rooted in the illusion that more achievement will finally fix the feeling of not being enough.   Phenyx Fit Kate Hastings Podcast  @coachkate1  Mental Health Coach      https://missionmedus.com

Behind every high achiever lies a story most people never see—a narrative woven from unprocessed trauma and relentless pursuit. For years, I was fueled by a dark motivation: a survival instinct honed by childhood wounds that pushed me to perform, to prove, and to control every aspect of my life. I tracked every calorie, trained until exhaustion, and rebranded my eating disorder as discipline and wellness. On the surface, I had it all together. But beneath that polished exterior, I wasn't thriving—I was merely performing. I wasn't grounded; I was surviving. I realized that the fuel I was using—pain, fear, and the need to prove my worth—was slowly killing me. That dark drive, while it carried me through countless challenges, never allowed me to rest. It kept me in a constant state of chase, a relentless cycle of proving that I was enough, even when deep down I felt anything but. I had mistaken destruction for transformation, chaos for clarity, and performance for true growth. Phenyx Fit Kate Hastings Podcast  @coachkate1  Mental Health Coach

Discipline wasn't saving me. It was silently destroying me. Have you ever been praised for how hard you push—while breaking inside? I used to be the woman who “had it all together.” Disciplined. Reliable. High-performing. But under the surface? I was a storm in a perfectly tailored outfit. I never missed a workout—even when I was sick. I tracked every calorie like my life depended on it. I said yes when I meant no. I showed up for others when I was falling apart. I confused exhaustion with impact. I called obsession “excellence.” But what I didn't know was this: My “discipline” was a trauma response. My “drive” was dysregulation. My “success” was self-abandonment in disguise. I didn't believe I was allowed to rest. Because deep down, I didn't believe I was worthy unless I earned it. Society clapped for my grind. But I was building a life on the edge of a breakdown. Let's stop glorifying the grind that's killing us. Redefine discipline. Not as destruction—but as devotion.   Phenyx Fit Kate Hastings Podcast  @coachkate1  Mental Health Coach

The Reality of Emotional Numbness Most people don't even realize they're in it until someone puts it into words. You wake up, go through the motions, handle responsibilities, maybe even accomplish big things, but inside, there's nothing. No spark, no deep emotion. The things that used to excite you don't anymore, and the things that should hurt barely register. You laugh, but it's hollow. You succeed, but it feels empty. Life happens, but you're watching from a distance. It's not just exhaustion or a rough patch—it's emotional shutdown. It happens slowly, the result of years spent suppressing emotions, avoiding pain, and pushing forward without processing life. At first, it feels like self-preservation, but over time, it costs you your ability to truly feel. The truth is, emotional numbness doesn't just happen. It's a survival response. Maybe it started with unresolved pain—childhood trauma, heartbreak, rejection, or loss—where shutting down felt safer than feeling everything. Maybe you've spent years in survival mode, constantly overwhelmed by stress, pressure, or responsibility, and your nervous system adapted by numbing out. Or maybe you've lost yourself entirely, molding your identity to meet expectations, suppressing your real thoughts and emotions until the version of you that exists isn't even real anymore. Eventually, you don't just numb the pain—you numb everything. You are not lacking. The second you stop looking sideways and start focusing on your mission, you take back your power. Every moment spent comparing is a moment wasted. The people you envy? They have struggles too. The ones winning? They're too busy working to waste time worrying about someone else's progress. Winners don't compare, they execute. So ask yourself—what if today was the day you stopped waiting for permission and started living like the person you were meant to be? One day, you'll wish you had started sooner. So don't waste another second. No more watching. No more measuring. No more waiting. If you don't audit your environment, mediocrity will feel normal. The people who win aren't the ones who feel ready; they're the ones who move anyway, track their progress, and outwork their old selves daily. Every decision either starves failure or feeds it—there is no neutral. Half-effort guarantees failure a front-row seat, but full execution suffocates it before it takes root. The Cost of No Standards, Weak Values, & Blurred Boundaries

Standards, values and boundaries on their own, are just ideas. They don't define you—your actions do. Saying you value discipline, honesty, or respect is meaningless unless you have the structure to back it up. That structure comes from principles, standards, and boundaries. Principles are the internal rules that guide your decisions, especially when motivation fades or external pressure builds. Standards are the actions that prove your values in real life, holding you accountable to what you claim to stand for. Boundaries protect those standards, ensuring that distractions, people, or excuses don't pull you off course. Take discipline as an example. If you say you value discipline, then your principle might be: “I do what needs to be done, no matter how I feel.” Your standard would be showing up, training, working, and executing, even when you're tired or uninspired. Your boundary would be refusing to let external distractions—social events, late nights, negativity—interfere with your set priorities. Most people claim to have values, but their actions tell a different story. The real question is: Are you proving yours?   Phenyx Fit Kate Hastings Podcast  @coachkate1  Mental Health Coach

People will only treat you the way you allow them to. Boundaries aren't just something you set—they're the blueprint for how people engage with you. Every interaction is a lesson in what you accept, what you challenge, and what you refuse to tolerate. If you tolerate mistreatment, disrespect, or inconsistency, guess what? You just taught them that it's okay. Silence is dangerous—if you don't speak up, you're sending the message that you're fine with whatever's happening. People will push as far as you let them, and if you're inconsistent with your standards, they'll test those limits over and over again. Self-respect is the foundation—if you don't respect yourself, don't expect anyone else to either. Saying “no” but giving in teaches people your boundaries are flexible, and once they see a crack, they'll keep pushing. The way you handle conflict tells people exactly how far they can go with you. At the end of the day, you don't demand respect—you show people how to give it by what you tolerate, what you walk away from, and how you hold the line.   Phenyx Fit Kate Hastings Podcast  @coachkate1  Mental Health Coach

Growth isn't linear—it's a cycle of effort and renewal. By embracing plateaus as a natural part of the process, we can transform them into powerful tools for transformation. Often, plateaus arise from two key factors: complacency and burnout. Success can lead us to settle into a comfort zone, avoiding the discomfort needed for further growth. On the other hand, relentless effort without rest can drain motivation and focus. Balance is key—recovery isn't weakness; it's the fuel that drives sustained progress. Breaking through a plateau requires a shift in mindset. It's often internal fears or self-doubt, not lack of ability, that hold us back. Rejecting parts of yourself—your shadow, shame, or unowned truths—allows external forces to dictate your value, leaving you stuck in a relentless cycle of seeking and self-rejection. When your sense of self is tied to what others think, you sacrifice authenticity, living for their approval instead of your own purpose. This creates a disconnect from your true identity and keeps you trapped in behaviors like people-pleasing and perfectionism, which drain your energy and erode your confidence. Resilience requires us to face emotions openly, which strengthens our ability to handle stress and adapt to challenges. However, when we resist or suppress emotions, we prevent resilience from fully forming, which in turn hinders discipline. This is because discipline relies on emotional stability—being able to stay focused, committed, and consistent even when we face discomfort. Resistance disrupts this stability, causing us to react impulsively instead of with intention. By processing emotions rather than resisting them, we build both resilience and the steady foundation that discipline requires, enabling us to act with purpose rather than being driven by unprocessed feelings.   Resilience and resistance interact in complex ways when it comes to handling emotions. Resilience involves the ability to face and adapt to emotional challenges, building strength and flexibility over time. In contrast, resistance is the act of suppressing or avoiding emotions, which often makes them more intense and harder to manage. When we resist emotions, we block the growth of resilience, as unaddressed feelings can overwhelm us and disrupt our stability. At the core of every boundary is self-respect. When we set boundaries, we're reinforcing the belief that our time, energy, and emotions are valuable. At the core of every boundary is a strong connection to our values. Our values are the foundation that keeps us grounded, while boundaries create the structure that protects what we hold most important. Without boundaries, it's easy for others' actions, opinions, or demands to push us off balance, leaving us feeling drained and disconnected. Setting boundaries helps us stay grounded in our values, ensuring that the relationships we invest in reflect our core beliefs. By doing so, we protect our emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being, allowing us to give to others from a place of abundance rather than burnout. One of the biggest challenges to setting and maintaining boundaries is our own mindset. Often, fears such as rejection, people-pleasing, or the need for approval prevent us from standing firm. When we let our insecurities dictate our actions, we end up compromising our values and feeling disconnected from our true selves. Over time, this can lead to frustration, resentment, and emotional exhaustion. The truth is, by not setting clear boundaries, we limit our potential and give away our power to external forces, leaving us feeling unfulfilled.   Phenyx Fit Kate Hastings Podcast  Mental Health Coach

This isn't about being unapproachable or tough—it's about standing firm in your value and knowing you don't need validation from others to feel fulfilled. You already carry that strength within you. You respect the balance of the masculine and feminine, knowing that both energies have their own power. You honor a man's strength without compromising your own. True strength is found in balancing fearlessness with compassion, power with grace. You embrace your femininity while holding space for your vulnerability. A powerful woman stands secure in her worth, leads with love, and holds firm to her boundaries, knowing that resilience comes from within.   Phenyx Fit Kate Hastings Podcast  Mental Health Coach

The times when you're backed into a corner, forced to make a decision: Do you stand your ground, tap into your perseverance, grit, and adaptability? Or do you let fear and panic take over and run with it? Life doesn't come with easy answers, but one thing that's certain is that our character is revealed in the hardest of times. Whether it's a breakup, a personal loss, or facing two of the biggest hurricanes to hit Florida—I understand what that feels like. During those moments, you're thrown into uncertainty, and you quickly realize that you need to learn how to navigate it. It's not about avoiding the storm or pretending it isn't happening. It's about finding a way to remain calm inside, even when everything around you is chaotic. Because when your back is against the wall, you have two choices: Let fear paralyze you, or allow these moments to reveal just how strong you truly are. This is where perseverance and grit come into play. Perseverance isn't about simply holding on; it's actively choosing to stay focused and driven, even when everything feels like it's pushing against you. It's about grit—digging deep and finding that part of you that says, "I will not be broken by this." But what exactly is grit, and how does it differ from confidence? Confidence is the belief that you can do something—it's that feeling that tells you, “Yes, I've got this. I have the skills, the experience, and the ability to handle this.” But grit, on the other hand, is what keeps you going when confidence starts to fade. It's about staying committed to a goal even when the process gets hard, even when you don't feel confident at all. Confidence helps you begin, but grit is what keeps you in the game when things get tough.   Phenyx Fit Kate Hastings Podcast  Mental Health Coach

For much of my life, I lived in a warrior mindset. I was constantly in survival mode, always protecting myself from being hurt, being betrayed, or being taken advantage of. My identity was rooted in fear survival tactics, self-isolation, chasing external achievements, and proving wrong the people who told me I couldn't do something. It's like I needed that fight to feel alive, to feel like I had a purpose. When your whole identity is built around surviving, you end up putting on a mask to protect yourself. This mask hides who you really are, and it often looks like success or strength to the outside world. My achievements became this mask—on the surface, it looked like I was winning, but deep down, I was losing the real battle with myself. The mask is a way to shield yourself from getting hurt, rejected, or judged. Maybe you show the world a version of yourself that seems successful, like you've got it all together, when in reality, you're struggling inside. The achievements or control you project to others might feel good temporarily, but they don't reflect who you truly are. The problem with wearing this mask is that, over time, it becomes harder and harder to take it off. You lose touch with your real self, and it's exhausting to keep pretending. On the outside, it looks like you're winning—getting the promotions, hitting the goals—but inside, it feels empty. The more you rely on this facade, the further you drift from the things that really matter to you: your values, your passions, and your true feelings. It becomes a battle within. You might be achieving success in the eyes of others, but if you're disconnected from who you really are, it doesn't feel fulfilling. The mask may have helped you survive tough situations, but eventually, it keeps you from experiencing true peace, joy, or connection. You're fighting to keep up appearances, but the real fight is with yourself. The only way to truly win is to take off the mask and reconnect with your authentic self. It's about letting go of the need to prove yourself or protect yourself all the time. When you stop relying on the facade and start living as who you truly are, that's when you find real peace and fulfillment—not just on the outside, but inside too.   Kate Hastings Podcast  Mental Health Coach

In a world that constantly promotes instant gratification and success, many of us find ourselves chasing happiness. Whether it's through career achievements, material possessions, or social approval, we've been conditioned to believe that happiness is the ultimate goal. But here's the thing—happiness is fleeting. It comes and goes based on external circumstances. That's why we often feel like we need to keep reaching for the next thing, never truly satisfied. The reason we chase happiness is that we confuse it with contentment. Happiness is an emotion, sparked by a particular event or accomplishment. On the other hand, contentment is a state of being, grounded in peace with where we are and what we have—without giving up the drive for growth. However, one of the fears of pursuing contentment is falling into complacency, the trap of becoming stagnant and losing the desire to push ourselves forward. But true contentment doesn't mean giving up on ambition or settling. It means balancing gratitude for where you are while still striving for more. ___________________________________________________________ Experience the Future of Health with Mission Med+ Experience Virtual Regenerative Medicine, dedicated to optimizing your health with Mission Med+. Success is often seen as the result of extraordinary efforts or dramatic changes, but the truth is that it's built on the foundation of consistency, not extremes. While extreme efforts may yield quick results, they are often unsustainable and can lead to burnout or failure in the long run. Consistency, on the other hand, is about showing up every day, putting in the work, and making steady progress. It's the small, daily actions that compound over time, leading to significant achievements. By focusing on consistency, you build habits, develop discipline, and create a solid framework that supports your long-term goals. Consistency also cultivates resilience and perseverance. When you rely on consistent effort rather than extreme measures, you become more adaptable and better equipped to handle setbacks. It allows you to maintain momentum even when the results aren't immediately visible. Success isn't about how intensely you work in short bursts; it's about how consistently you apply yourself over time. This steady, reliable approach not only ensures progress but also strengthens your character, making you more prepared for the challenges that come with achieving your goals. Courage is a learned skill—you're not born with it. It's like a muscle you build over time by exposing yourself, putting yourself out on a skinny branch, and pushing through tough situations. Courage doesn't mean you're fearless or delusional; it means you feel the fear and do it anyway. It's about stepping up, even when you're scared, because fear will always be a factor. Every time you face your fears and push through—or don't—you're reinforcing either your confidence or your weakness. You're proving to yourself that you can handle whatever comes your way, and in doing so, you build trust, consistency, and discipline. And when you act with courage, others notice. Your courage lights the way for others. The more you practice courage, the braver you get. Facing challenges head-on builds resilience, grit, and confidence, so when life hits you hard, you're ready to bounce back or handle the situation. Courage isn't just about big, heroic acts. Sometimes, it's as simple as speaking up, confronting a hard conversation, or not letting someone cut you in line when it's easier to stay quiet and conform. You literally can't grow without stepping out of your comfort zone. Taking risks and facing fears—that's where real courage is born. Being courageous means being vulnerable. It's putting yourself out there, exposing yourself to your fears willingly. Every single day, you have a choice. Will you act with courage, or will you let fear hold you back? Courage isn't a one-time thing—it's the small decisions you make over and over again. So, in reality, you will face pushback, be judged, or even be made fun of—embrace it. If you want a big life with big results, you need big courage. Get comfortable with those things, because they will happen. Failure isn't an option for someone who chooses never to give up. ****   Experience the Future of Health with Mission Med+ Experience Virtual Regenerative Medicine, dedicated to optimizing your health with Mission Med+. Commitment means sticking with your goals, values, and responsibilities even when things get tough. If you're not committed to yourself, you're committed to others, which is dangerous. You begin to live for others, mistaking busyness for progress. If what you're doing isn't yielding results related to your aim, you're off the path. Starting at day one is something we all experience, but in today's society, we often forget that. With the constant influx of comparison and the paralysis of fear, it's easy to lose sight of the importance of beginning, especially when faced with fear, anxiety, and imposter syndrome. Fear is built into our biology to keep us alive and safe, but when it creeps into the wrong areas of our lives, it hinders us from taking action or putting ourselves out there. Many people look at day one expecting the final success chapter, but that's not how life works. Often, people either have an oversized ego or an unhealthy one. An unhealthy ego is full of pride, fear, entitlement, and comfort. A healthy ego says, "I can achieve excellence, I can pursue greatness, and I am worthy of success no matter the cost." There is a cost and payoff to everything in life. The cost of not starting is an unlived life of fear, weakness, and unfulfilled potential. Potential is the capacity to develop into something in the future; qualities or abilities that may be developed and lead to future success or usefulness.   Phenyx Fit Kate Hastings Podcast  Mental Health Coach      _____________________________ Experience the Future of Health with Mission Med+ Experience Virtual Regenerative Medicine, dedicated to optimizing your health with Mission Med+. It took me years, but I am now confident in the things I'm not good at. When you don't own your weaknesses, something else takes ownership over you. For 30 years, I believed I wasn't smart, lovable, or worthy. I was strong in all the wrong areas, like people-pleasing, self-isolation, and suppressing emotions. These weaknesses tricked me into thinking I was a good person, but I was actually enabling harmful behaviors. Accepting my weaknesses as weaknesses was the turning point. I was a high-achieving, people-pleasing, co-dependent woman who thrived in chaos and pain. Pretending your weaknesses aren't there or masking them only weighs you down. It's hard not to live up to your potential because you're afraid to take the first step and look foolish. Reality check: we were all once beginners. I mess up all the time, especially with numbers and reading things backward. When we focus too much on our weaknesses, our strengths also become weak. My weaknesses no longer stop me because I own them. I learn, I grind it out, and I don't harbor resentment or insecurity. Not taking action because of your weaknesses won't get you anywhere. You need to exercise taking action when you're afraid, and that means being courageous, authentic, and committed to something more. I built the strength to say no confidently by facing my fear daily. Over the years, I learned to love saying no because I have alignment, purpose, and confidence in my weaknesses. If you're paralyzed by fear, you'll find yourself in the same place a year from now, which is a major cause of depression and anxiety today. I continually work on tackling my weaknesses and say yes to moving forward despite fear. Embracing your weaknesses is about recognizing them, understanding their impact, and taking action to transform them into strengths. Every small step forward, even in the face of fear, is progress. True strength lies in owning every part of who you are. Shame and a sense of never being enough can drive you to overdo things, constantly striving to prove your worth. This wounded energy can lead to over-sensitivity, difficulty regulating emotions, and a toxic ego, making you aggressive, combative, and overly opinionated. Understanding the natural energies within us is essential. Feminine energy is about receiving and being, while masculine energy is about doing and acting. Recognizing and balancing these traits is the first step toward healing and embracing a healthier, more empowered self. It's important to balance masculine and feminine energies, knowing when to be assertive and when to be nurturing. True femininity starts from within. It's a mindset, a way of being, and an outlook on life. It begins with how you treat, love, support, and connect with yourself, and then it shines outward in your interactions. It's about being playful, empathetic, and compassionate, showing diligence and trustworthiness, and blending empathy, nurturing, and intuition. What behaviors are secretly undermining our confidence and integrity? I'll unpack the foundations of self-trust, like self-reliance, self-integrity, self-honesty, self-compassion, and self-confidence. These are the building blocks that help you trust yourself more deeply. I'll get into the common culprits that destroy self-trust: self-sabotage, perfectionism, seeking external validation, neglecting self-care, negative self-talk, and ignoring your intuition. These behaviors can really erode your sense of self-worth and make it hard to trust your own judgment. I'll also touch on factors that influence self-trust, such as fear of failure or rejection, low self-esteem, and past trauma. These issues can create barriers that make trusting yourself feel like a daunting task. To help you rebuild self-trust, I'll share practical strategies like practicing self-awareness and reflection, setting realistic goals, staying consistent in your actions, using positive self-talk, setting boundaries, seeking therapy, developing accountability practices, fostering a growth mindset, and integrating gratitude into your daily routine. Jealousy is a rollercoaster of feelings; it's a complex emotion—suspicion, fear, anger, bitterness, resentment, you name it. But at its heart, it's about something we want or feel we're missing. It's a fear of abandonment rooted in lack and low self-esteem. It's a signal that there's an unmet need or desire in our lives. We often block these feelings with fear and comparisons, feeling like we don't measure up. Whether it's comparing ourselves to someone else's success or feeling envious in relationships, jealousy can pop up everywhere. It's often tied to feeling insecure or not good enough. But here's the good thing about jealousy: it can be a clue that points us toward our true desires and dreams. In this podcast, I will talk about how jealousy shows up in different parts of our lives—from sibling rivalries to work competition to romantic relationships. I'll dive into how it's connected to feelings of lack, grief, and low self-esteem. And I'll look at how these feelings can make us feel anxious, emotionally self-sabotage, or feel resentful toward others. I'll also talk about how to cope differently and treat jealousy with more compassion and love. So, if you're ready to get real about jealousy and learn how to turn it into a stepping stone for personal growth, join me on "Understanding and Healing Jealousy." Let's turn those tough feelings into something that drives you forward.   ________________________________________________   Experience Virtual Regenerative Medicine, dedicated to optimizing your health with Mission Med+. Pacing Your Healing: A Marathon, Not a Sprint

Welcome to "Pacing Your Healing: A Marathon, Not a Sprint," a podcast dedicated to those on their healing journey. Healing is a gradual process that requires patience, grace, and self-compassion. This podcast offers insights on navigating the path to recovery, addressing emotional dysregulation, negative self-concept, and hypervigilance. Reflecting on my own journey, I realized the importance of pacing yourself. Many, including myself, bring an all-or-nothing mentality to healing, setting unrealistic expectations and being hard on ourselves for setbacks. Imagine running a race for 30 years and reaching the finish line, only to start your healing journey. It's crucial to slow down and see things differently. True healing began for me when I reflected on my experiences with newfound appreciation. Life's ups and downs can be especially challenging when constantly vigilant. Operating outside our window of tolerance leads to exhaustion and hampers healing. Remember, healing is a marathon, not a sprint. There are no shortcuts; the way out is through.   Phenyx Fit Kate Hastings Podcast  Mental Health Coach    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------     Experience Virtual Regenerative Medicine, dedicated to optimizing your health with Mission Med+. We'll also explore how cortisol, released during stress, can lead to a sense of control and even shape our identity. Learn why anger shouldn't be managed but understood and healed, and the importance of setting healthy boundaries and transforming anger through compassion and self-awareness.
