Remake This Movie RIGHT is a bi-weekly podcast where we take a film on tap for a Hollywood remake, craft the vision modern audiences would want to see, and cap it off with our very own movie trailer. By the end of each episode, we will Remake This Movie RIGHT!
Mikey Walsh and Brandon Walsh are brothers whose family is preparing to move because developers want to build a golf course in the place of their neighborhood -- unless enough money is raised to stop the construction of the golf course, and that's quite doubtful. But when Mikey stumbles upon a treasure map of the famed "One-Eyed" Willy's hidden fortune, Mikey, Brandon, and their friends Lawrence "Chunk" Cohen, Clark "Mouth" Devereaux, Andrea "Andy" Carmichael, Stefanie "Stef" Steinbrenner, and Richard "Data" Wang set out on a quest to find the treasure in hopes of saving their neighborhood. But trying to beat them to it are criminals Mama Fratelli and her sons Jake Fratelli, Francis Fratelli, and the severely disfigured Lotney "Sloth" Fratelli. Escaped felons on the loose, a pirates treasure waiting to be found, and a gaggle of friendships we all wish we had when we were kids brought together to save their childhood home from a shady development deal – This is our 2 year anniversary since we turned the projector off and the 35th anniversary of this classic film, so sit back as we Remake The Goonies RIGHT! In Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) is a young apprentice Jedi knight under the tutelage of Qui-Gon Jinn (Liam Neeson). Anakin Skywalker (Jake Lloyd), who will later father Luke and Leia Skywalker and become known throughout the galaxy as The Emperor's loyal right hand Darth Vader, is just a 9-year-old boy with extraordinary potential. When the Trade Federation cuts off all routes to the planet Naboo, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan are assigned to protect Queen Amidala (Natalie Portman) in hopes of securing a peaceful end to a large-scale interplanetary trade dispute. For two decades, The Phantom Menace has, much like the Empire, lay in hiding while waiting for the right time to strike. Midi-chlorians, Trade Federations, and Jar Jar Binks have kept this series from its own potential for far too long. Since Disney seems to be in no hurry to correct this wrong, it is left up to our Cinematic Architects to roll up our sleeves and return to work as we celebrate our 1 year anniversary of podcast retirement in style: We're going to Remake Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace RIGHT! Remake This Movie RIGHT began as a tiny nugget of fun on The Hollywood Outsider Podcast, where we would randomly recast popular classic films with updated actors, just to see who could come up with the craziest scenario. That grew into an idea I wanted to explore: what if, using the podcast medium, we had a show that celebrated both the good and the bad of any given film, and then instead of the hosts just bashing everything for laughs, we instead applied that fan magic to creating the modern film that we would WANT to see. It seemed like a no-brainer, and by using various hosts instead of the same three every week, it also struck me as special. More importantly, it was original. Therefore I created Remake This Movie RIGHT! I definitely didn’t come up with every idea on my own. I collaborated with close friends and fellow podcasters Troy Heinritz and Brian Williams on how to make the format the best it could be, which meant of course bringing in our own voice talent in Mr. Wayne Henderson – courtesy of MediaVoiceOvers.com, of course - to craft a parody movie trailer tying everything that came before it together in one neat bow. Rob Rowald assisted me as he always does with everything technical to improve our presence on the internets, and Dustin Baker worked that graphical witchcraft to “remake” the Hollywood Outsider logo as Remake’s. Last, but definitely not least, was the inspiration from my former co-host Justin Macumber, who was constantly an advocate for a new, fresher take on beloved properties. Everything came together, and while the majority of the idea and production fell to me, Remake This Movie RIGHT would not be where it is without the help and shoulder to lean of from those listed above. And now, it is time to say goodbye. For the past 4 years, I have personally put so many hours of blood sweat and tears into this show, and I can honestly say, my heart is full from all of the great responses and wonderful moments that stem from this show. Deciding to end the show has never been about a lack of interest, it has solely landed on the amount of time it takes to do each episode properly. After I wrapped Season 3, I had honestly moved on and felt we ended so strongly, it’s better to go out on top. But the fans wouldn’t have it. Email after email, Facebook messages, tweets, the comments kept coming. So much that I finally decided to bring the show back for one final season, and give it the send-off it – and the listeners – truly deserve. So here we are, at the end of the road. I’m left with bittersweet memories of so many great moments. We did a couple of live episodes with audiences shouting their ideas and forcing us to change course that really warmed my heart. Wesley Snipes, the one true Blade, dug our Blade episode. And, of course, we had S.S. Wilson come by several times, which always made me smile, and even to remake his own film, Short Circuit. What a fantastic story to be able to tell. As I close the show, I want to personally thank every listener who supported the show. Without you, we wouldn’t have made it this far. Also, thank you to the numerous hosts who have dropped by over the years. Each and every one of you contributed in your own unique voice to the success of this show, and there have been so many wonderful ideas over the years that STILL deserve to be salvaged by Hollywood. I also want to thank my family, who have supported this endeavor and all of the time it has taken away from other events and memories along the way. Your strength is what gives me mine. And lastly, thank you once again to Wayne Henderson, for everything he has done for this podcast since the beginning. I can honestly say, this podcast wouldn’t have been the same without his voice bringing it all together after each episode. He has always been willing to do whatever nonsense I came up with as a script, and has never complained or shied away. Wayne is the best in the biz, as they say. With that, this is your host, Aaron Peterson, saying goodbye and thank you to all of you Cinematic Architects. This has been a fantastic time in my life, and love to have shared it with each and every one of you. You can still find me talking about movies over at The Hollywood Outsider and creating stories with candid discussion on Smirk, but Remake has officially used its last reel of film. The final credits have rolled on this podcast, so remember that every film you love will get a reboot someday, and only you can Remake This Movie RIGHT!

Based on his own short story, Trucks, Stephen King's Maximum Overdrive is what happens when Earth passes through the tail of Rea-M rogue comet, as machines come to life and begin to kill mankind. A group of survivors are under siege from fierce trucks at the Dixie Boy truck stop, and the film follows their plight as they fight to survive. Adapting his own screenplay, Maximum Overdrive is Stephen King's solo directorial debut. Starring Emilio Estevez, the film was critically lambasted, yet has carried through the years as something of a cult classic. In 2000, director Courtney Solomon finally achieved what many thought impossible; he adapted Dungeons and Dragons for the big screen. With decidedly mixed results and poor box office, the film fell by the wayside and became a film lost to the ages. In 1988, Michael Lehmann expertly brought the high school experience to our theaters as he pointedly delivered Heathers. The film starred Winona Ryder as Veronica, a young teen sucked into a high school clique named Heathers. After she meets her rebel teen love in J.D., Veronica begins dreaming of a world without the cruel teens she deals with every day. And J.D., is more than willing to kill a few people to make that dream a reality. Heathers established Winona Ryder and Christian Slater as stars in the 80s, and their classic film has finally reached reboot status. It's time to Remake Heathers RIGHT! In Joel Schumacher's Flatliners, medical students begin to explore the realm of near death experiences, hoping for insights into what lies beyond our world. Each has their heart stopped and is revived. They begin experiencing waking nightmares from their childhood, reflecting their own personal sins. These experiences continue to intensify, and they begin to be physically abused by their visions as they head deeper into the death experience to find a cure. To bring this concept into the modern age, what changes would you make? If you could plot out a film on how to cheat death, how would you do it? In the final days of World War II, the Nazis attempt to use mysticism to salvage their fight. The Allies put an end to their efforts, but not before a demon has been summoned through a portal. Raised by Professor Bruttenholm, this demon baby comes to aid in our never-ending plight against the forces of darkness. He is Hellboy. Ron Perlman perfectly embodied Mike Mignola's iconic character in Guillermo del Toro's film that vividly brought the demon and his minions to life. Way ahead of its time, 9 to 5 takes a very candid look at the struggle for women in the workplace. As they come to terms with their sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot of a boss, these women inadvertently kidnap Mr. Hart and change their office around for the better of employees across the board. Starring Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Dolly Parton, and Dabney Coleman, 9 to 5 has rightfully claimed its place as a comedy classic. A lot has changed since 1980, but there is definitely still a place for a film to examine women in the business space. What changes should be made to bring this film into the now? Red pill or blue pill, which would YOU take? This week, we're forced to choose as we take on the 1999 Wachowski classic, The Matrix, starring Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne. It's a bold and beautiful film, yet Hollywood is taking another shot with it, therefore so will we as we Remake This Movie RIGHT! Remake This Movie RIGHT! is a bi-monthly podcast where we take a classic film that is actively being remade by Hollywood studio execs, and craft our own version for a modern retelling. Does the story need updating? Should characters or motives be tweaked? Do we need more muppets? We take all factors into account, concoct our film, and then offer a Final Pitch to you in movie trailer form. By the end of each episode, we will Remake This Movie RIGHT! Our show is broken down into three distinct parts: The Original: We discuss the original film’s impact, some quick trivia bits, what worked the best from the film and therefore must remain in our upcoming remake, and what didn’t work or what needs to be changed for today’s audiences. The Remake: We put together our movie! What story do we want to tell, how close to the original will it be, who will star, and ultimately who should direct our eventual cinematic masterpiece? Our hosts work together to put together one cohesive movie, but there is one caveat - Each host has one ‘CUT!’ throughout the episode to employ which could completely derail the entire film. The Final Pitch: This is where we summarize our remake by utilizing the voice talents of voiceover artist Wayne Henderson and present our finished remake to you in parody movie trailer form! Logan's Run tells the story of a futuristic society confined to a domed city where all of your wildest fantasies can come true, as long as you are willing to sacrifice yourself on your 30th birthday. Those that refuse are known as Runners, and it up to the Sandmen, an internal police force, to bring them to justice. As Logan seeks out a hidden Sanctuary, he debates his own existence and sets off on a journey that will affect them all. 40 years have passed since the seminal classic hit movie screens, and the time has come to craft a more modern version. Question: What kind of modern conventions or futuristic ideals do we incorporate into our film? Question: Can we update the film without hindering the message? The answers are here in our latest podcast as Jason Cabassi from The Walking Dead 'Cast and Troy Heinritz from The Blacklist Exposed join Aaron and update a classic.
