Nothing seems to fascinate us more than a good love story. And no love story has the world's attention more than that of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. THANKS TO ANDREW FOR MAKING THE INTRO SONG. (soundcloud.com / andoryukesuta)@andoryukesuta The Ring is a 2002 American psychological supernatural horror film directed by Gore Verbinski from a screenplay by Ehren Kruger, and starring Naomi Watts, Martin Henderson and Brian Cox. It is a remake of Hideo Nakata's 1998 film Ring, based on Koji Suzuki's 1991 novel of the same name. The plot centers on Rachel Keller, a journalist who must figure out a way to escape death after watching a cursed videotape that seemingly kills the viewer seven days after viewing it. The Ring was released theatrically by DreamWorks Pictures on October 18, 2002, receiving moderately positive reviews, with critics praising the atmosphere and visuals, Bojan Bazelli's cinematography, Verbinski's direction and Watts' performance. The Ring was a box-office success, grossing $249.3 million on a production budget of $48 million, making it one of the highest-grossing horror remakes of all time. The film is the first installment of the American Ring series, and is followed by The Ring Two (2005) and Rings (2017). The success of The Ring paved the way for American remakes of several other Asian and Japanese horror films, including The Grudge (2004) and Dark Water (2005). Teenage girls Katie and Becca discuss an urban legend about a cursed videotape that causes whoever watches it to die in seven days. That night, Katie, who watched it a week ago, is killed by an unseen force. At Katie's funeral, her mother asks her sister Rachel, a Seattle-based journalist, to investigate her daughter's death. Rachel discovers that Katie's friends all died in bizarre accidents at the exact same time and night of Katie's death. Rachel goes to the Shelter Mountain Inn, where Katie and her friends watched the tape. She finds and watches the tape; it contains strange and frightening imagery. She then receives a phone call from an unknown caller who whispers, "seven days". Though initially skeptical, Rachel quickly begins to experience supernatural occurrences linked with the tape. Rachel recruits the help of her video analyst ex-boyfriend Noah. He watches the tape and Rachel makes him a copy. She identifies a woman on the tape: horse breeder Anna Morgan, who killed herself after some of her horses drowned themselves off Moesko Island. Rachel and Noah's young son Aidan ends up watching the tape. Aidan also possesses some supernatural abilities, which he uses to help with Rachel's investigation. Rachel heads for Moesko Island to speak to Anna's widower Richard, while Noah travels to Eola Psychiatric Hospital to view Anna's medical files. Rachel discovers that Anna had adopted a girl, Samara, who possessed the ability to psychically etch images onto objects and into people's minds, tormenting her parents and their horses. Noah finds a psychiatric file on Samara that mentions a missing video record last seen by Richard. Returning to the Morgan home, Rachel finds a birth certificate proving that Samara is the biological child of Richard and Anna. She also finds the missing video, in which Samara explains her powers during a therapy session. Richard insists that Samara is evil and commits suicide by electrocuting himself. Noah and Rachel find a loft in the barn, which the Morgans used to isolate Samara from themselves and the outside world. There is an image of a tree behind the wallpaper; Rachel recognizes it as a tree at the Shelter Mountain Inn.

Set in the 1870s, Gabe Polsky's adaptation of John Williams' literary western stars Nicolas Cage as a buffalo hunter who lures a naïve young man into an ambitious expedition in the Colorado Rockies. On the red carpet at tiff 2022 and at the premiere of the film Butcher's Crossing, I caught-up with actors Nicolas Cage, Rachel Keller, and the rest of the cast, followed by the film's Q & A to discuss the Cage's decision to star in and strong themes in this movie. Best known for Moonstruck and his wild turns as cinema's most volatile man, Cage continues to prove he is also capable of great depth and nuance on screen, playing opposite Fred Hechinger (The White Lotus) in a beautiful adaptation of John Williams' literary western. This frontier epic tells the story of an Ivy League drop-out as he travels to the Colorado wilderness, where he joins a team of buffalo hunters on a journey that puts his life and sanity at risk. From Will's innocence to insight, as the adventure unfolds, Director Gabe Polsky (TIFF '14's Red Army) frames deep subject matter: greed, wrong & right, betrayal, destruction, distinction, and total carnage. Will and his ostensible mentor Miller fall into a spiral reminiscent of Willard and Kurtz in Apocalypse Now — something Cage nods to in the shades of Brando he brings to his performance. I recently watched A Man Called Otto starring Tom Hanks, Mariana Treviño, and Rachel Keller. I cried. A lot. In addition to the emotional story, A Man Called Otto reminded me that we've all had "Ottos" on our project teams. In How to Support the Otto on Your Project Teams | Foundations Friday #97, I share 5 traits Ottos shares and how we as team leaders can leverage them and support the human behind the gruff and direct personality that Otto displays.

For this week's main podcast review, I am joined by Amy Smith & Dan Bayer. This week we're reviewing the latest film from director Marc Forster, "A Man Called Otto," starring Tom Hanks, Mariana Treviño, Rachel Keller & Manuel Garcia-Rulfo. An American remake of the 2015 Oscar-nominated film "A Man Called Ove," the film tells a conventional story with profound sadness and uplifting hope. What did we ultimately think of the story, the performances, the comedy, and the darker themes of suicide? We discuss all of these points and more in our review. Thank you, and enjoy! Naomi Watts joins the show to talk about her role in the eerie ensemble drama The Watcher. Inspired by the true story of the infamous “Watcher” house in New Jersey, the series follows Nora (Naomi Watts) and Dean Brannock (Bobby Cannavale) as they move their family into what was supposed to be their suburban dream home. However, things take a dark turn when ominous letters from someone calling themself “The Watcher” begin showing up in their mailbox.Naomi explains what made her eager to join the series, describes working with the show's incredible cast, and shares a few of her favorite moments on set with co-stars Jennifer Coolidge, Mia Farrow, and Margo Martindale. She also reflects on her breakout role in David Lynch's critically acclaimed film Mulholland Drive, reveals that she almost passed on the role of Rachel Keller in The Ring, and speaks candidly about how finding success later in her career deeply shaped the way she chose to navigate the industry.

On this week’s episode, Joe chats about Sex & Faith with Licensed Clinical Social Worker, AASECT Certified Sex Therapist and author, Rachel Keller. Rachel grew up in the conservative Christian church and experienced both the positives and negatives of that culture. Today, she is passionate about helping others find sexual freedom, a sex positive Christianity,...
Jason is a man living a double life, one by day, one by night and a chance encounter leads him to believe that the woman of his dreams might be real after all. Written by Rachel Keller. Read by Joshua Macrae. This episode is brought to you by THE SLEEPING COURT written by Dagmar Avery and K. Margaret.
Sexual Health within the Christian Faith Starting with a little background on Rachel, she is a psychotherapist who works with clients who have experienced trauma and in sexuality in general. When considering her certification, she has been certified through AASECT and is a part of the American Academy of Psychotherapists. Rachel has long been equal parts fascinated and troubled by the suppression of sexuality from the church, and she looks to bridge the gap between a healthy practice and expression of sexuality and faith. Dr. Beverly Dale is a Reverend and received her Doctor of Ministry from the Chicago Theological Seminary. She is also the founder of the Incarnation Institute for Sex & Faith, which has the mission of bringing a positive perception of sex for all involved. Both Rachel and Beverly wrote a book called Advancing Sexual Health for the Christian Client which will be released soon! And in this episode, they both discuss the needless negative stigma that surrounds sexuality from a church's perspective: both in doctrine as well as practice. They provide an analysis as well as solutions. Really impactful stuff that I know you'll get a lot out of! Listen along. Their New Book! They both wrote to give a resource to those who might be tied up with their Christian faith and yet are facing seemingly insurmountable sexual problems. The book is a major step towards providing solutions for the sort of sexual gridlock that may occur. And the book wasn't just designed with Christians in mind, but those who may have moved on from Christianity as well and are seeking sexual healing or are looking for answers to pressing questions. This is expanded upon in the talk where the distinction between a client's belief and their faith is clarified. Listen in for that! Deconstructing Belief They approach their clients through the lens of showing that beliefs are separate from experience. Because the church teaches certain principles and gives commandments, a lot of time clients tend to equate the commandments with the faith experience, and both Beverly and Rachel are working diligently to shift perceptions. Without being able to separate belief from experience, healing in the sexual realm is much more difficult. Reconstructing the Christian Narrative Those with the most power tend to write history. And as Beverly states about the many forms of the Christian narrative and practice during the heyday of the Greco-Romans, Christianity used to be much more sexually oriented and positive. But because bodies were not as central to the Greco-Roman zeitgeist, conformity to a much less inclusive version of Christianity was a result. Beverly and Rachel look to remind people that the Christianity we have today is much different than it used to be. And in fact, one of the reasons that Jesus was so radical at the time was that he didn't conform to the misogynistic culture of the Romans. A really interesting look into history. Check them out! Impacts of the Church's Sexual Negativity The most common, which most of us have experienced, is sexual shame or guilt. And a lot of the work that Rachel and Beverly do is provide examples of how shame cycles and negatively impact lives. In addition, they aren't spiritual advisors, they just add the necessary disruption to the normal narrative, meaning that clients are left with a little bit of cognitive dissonance on the whole subject of sexuality and the church instead of just adhering to the rules without analysis. Problematic sexual behaviors are discussed as well, especially for our youth. What often happens with the church is that young people are not given the information they need, and they spiral into porn addiction or shame and guilt that could have been prevented had they been properly sexually educated. Really listen along to this important information. A 4-Part Process for Sexual Shame and Guilt Rachel and Beverly utilize the theologian John Wesley's methods of using reason and personal experience, among two other elements that are discussed. This type of analysis revolves around comparing what the church says and what the bible says, almost as a way to check and balance the different dialogues and their divergences. And in one of the best parts of the episode, Beverly reminds you that you have permission to break rules in this domain because Jesus himself was a rule breaker. So rules laid out by the church are not gospel, so to speak, if they don't align with the bible. Resources and Tools from Rachel and Beverly Rachel says you should determine a touch history for yourself and ask questions that relate to you if you were touch-deprived (not hugged a lot or touched) as a child and how that has possibly affected you on an intimate level. In addition, both provide valuable information and resources in the annotated bibliography of Advancing Sexual Health for the Christian Client. And also, Rachel shares some book suggestions. And to cap off the episode, Rachel talks about sexual beliefs and shares much more resources! Including details of their new book and its release date. The second season of the American cable television series Legion is based on the Marvel Comics character David Haller / Legion, a mutant diagnosed with schizophrenia at a young age. The season is connected to the X-Men film series, and is produced by FX Productions in association with Marvel Television. Noah Hawley serves as showrunner. Dan Stevens stars as Haller, with Rachel Keller, Aubrey Plaza, Bill Irwin, Jeremie Harris, Amber Midthunder and Jean Smart also returning from the first season to star. They are joined by Jemaine Clement and Hamish Linklater, promoted from guest roles in the first season, and Navid Negahban. A second season of Legion was ordered by FX in March 2017, with filming for the season relocating from Vancouver to California, to take advantage of tax incentives. Production began in September 2017, with practical effects again a priority for the series' crew. The season features the parasitic villain Amahl Farouk / Shadow King, portrayed by Negahban, searching for his original body after being forced out of Haller's mind at the end of the first season.
The trippiest superhero show of them all returns to FX as "Legion" enters into its second season. Created by Noah Hawley, "Legion" stars Dan Stevens as schizophrenic psychic David Haller, along with Rachel Keller, Jean Smart, Aubrey Plaza, and Jemaine Clement. "Legion" wowed the boi-people last year, does the Season 2 premiere hold up to the psychedelic standard set by the first, and do we want all of our psychic battles done as interpretive dance now? Do you even have to ask? PLUS, the boys discuss the new movie from John Krasinski, "A Quiet Place", which also stars Emily Blunt and Millicent Simmonds! Michael Wylie is the production designer for the Marvel television series Legion, airing Wednesday evenings on FX. His production design resume also includes such fan favorites as Marvel’s Agent Carter, Masters of Sex, Grimm, Californication, Pushing Daisies, and The Tick. Legion follows a troubled young man, a diagnosed schizophrenic, who may in fact possess incredible telepathic and telekinetic powers. The show stars Dan Stevens, Aubrey Plaza, and Rachel Keller. It’s a remarkable series with a non-linear story, incredible design and music, and stellar performances. It’s by turns fascinating, disturbing, and intriguing, and it will keep you glued to the screen and constantly questioning reality.
It's episode 80... and you weren't supposed to help her... The Ring (2002) tells the story of Rachel Keller, a woman who falls foul of a cursed videotape. The curse means that anyone who watches the video tape will die exactly seven days after they see it - and after Rachel's son watches the video too, the race is on to find out what's really going on. We talk about how quick-fix internet marketing could save your life; the merits of recognising when your behaviour is upsetting wild animals; and the importance of keeping your drains clear of waste foods. All of which leads to one big question: How would you survive? Whatever happens, one thing's for sure... What is it with podcasts? You take one person's tragedy and force the world to experience it... spread it like sickness. Another classic film solved by the best movie podcast in the world.
Rachel Keller is a journalist investigating a videotape that may have killed her niece and her three friends exactly seven days after watching it. After watching the video herself, Rachel begins a nightmarish race to find the truth and ultimately beat death for herself and her son before fate's clock eventually runs out. A Western reboot of 1995's Japanese classic, Ringu, The Ring is already a horror classic in many aspects. Director Gore Verbinski did a marvelous job translating the fateful tale of Samara and her terrifying well of death, and audiences were terrified. As we approach the upcoming 3rd American version of the story, RINGS, we decided it was time to lay the foundation and Remake The Ring RIGHT! Clips selected from the 2002 film, The Ring. Does the story need updating? Should characters or motives be tweaked? Do we need more muppets? We take all factors into account, concoct our film, and then offer a Final Pitch to you in movie trailer form. By the end of each episode, we will Remake This Movie RIGHT! Our show is broken down into three distinct parts: The Original: We discuss the original film’s impact, some quick trivia bits, what worked the best from the film and therefore must remain in our upcoming remake, and what didn’t work or what needs to be changed for today’s audiences. The Remake: We put together our movie! What story do we want to tell, how close to the original will it be, who will star, and ultimately who should direct our eventual cinematic masterpiece? Our hosts work together to put together one cohesive movie, but there is one caveat - Each host has one ‘CUT!’ throughout the episode to employ which could completely derail the entire film. The Final Pitch: This is where we summarize our remake by utilizing the voice talents of voiceover artist Wayne Henderson and present our finished remake to you in movie trailer form! Disagree with our picks? Want to submit a pitch of your own for our next teaser episode? Thoughts on this episode or suggestions for future episodes? Email us at RemakeThisMovieRight@gmail.com
