[School of Movies 2022] The Rage Cage Season continues, as Nicholas transforms himself into a statuesque Army Ranger from Alabama with a mullet (as We Hate Movies would say) to beat the band! It's had to imagine from every movie he was in before and since but here he's a combination of the peace-making soft tones of Jesus and the spin-kicks of Chuck Norris. Handed a severe sentence after defending himself and his pregnant wife from literally the worst man in the world, Cameron Poe is sent home after eight years in jail. Unfortunately he is put on a plane with superstar celebrity convicts renowned for their violent crimes. And when they inevitably take control of the plane, leaving Cameron in a sticky position he is faced with a choice; get off when prompted and get back to his family or stay and try to do something good. The resultant film is riot of explosions, glossy action cinematography and highly memorable, equally quotable dialogue. Over the course of the episode we talk about the greatness of John Malkovich's film-stealing performance, how we collectively forgot Dave Chappelle is in the film and how Cameron Poe is a superhero. A královsky jsme se bavili i my při natáčení tohoto speciálu. Cameron Poe, Memphis Raines and John Milton are back with a vengeance. This time they're up against a band so righteous they make the Doobie Brothers look like fucking Satanists. That's right. Jesus ain't just alright with Creed, he's their goddamn inspiration. But alas, the band has long since separated and only one man could bring them back together. Did I say man? I meant demigod. I speak of course of the one, the only, Scott Stapp. The boys loaded up their Winnebago and set a course for Florida. Tallahassee that is. Will they see the man who made the Marlins soar or has Scott once again dropped off the face of the Earth? Stay tuned. Highlights include: Sin City; Whatchu Yarlin' Bout?; Silly Can Holders; Pearl Slam; Yarl only supposed to blow the bloody Doors off; Weekday Elvis; Evil Stepfather; Guitars are the devil; Snitch on me twice, shame on me; Prison Apartment; Making his Mark Tremonti; Pyramid Schemin; Clumsy Demons; Nelson Mandela FX; Gabriel sounds like a dick; Bad, bad kids; Yarl Mary --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
Are ye lost little lamb? Pray join us for a joyous journey through the life and times of the one true band: Creed. Remember Creed? If you don't I'm sure your Mom does. She probably still has pictures of Scott Stapp in the top drawer of her nightstand. Creed were on top of the world between the years 1999-2003 until they eventually shined so bright they exploded in a spectacular supernova that gave birth to Alter Bridge and a slew of solo records from Scotty boy. In this six part series, Cameron Poe, Memphis Raines and John Milton will explore Creed's humble and pious beginnings as they went from Christian Rock to slightly-less Christian Rock. We'll hear about frontman Stapp's troubles with the law. He really created his own prison. Also that time they fired their bass player for dissing Pearl Jam. He must have been thinking "What's This Life For?" We'll see Creed get "Higher" and reach the heights of the top of Top 40 radio and while Scott Stapp stood six feet from that edge he turned to Casey Kasem with his "One Last Breath" and said “Fuck it. I'll break up the band.” before hurtling himself off the cliff into a dark pit of addiction and douchebaggery. All of this and more await you on this auditory adventure. Join us won't you, pilgrims? We'll show you the way to the light...and also make fun of the band a lot. Check us out on rotrpodcast.com for new and past episodes and be sure to follow us on Twitter @ROTR_podcast for news and show updates.
Yes hi hello to you, beloved listener. The third installment of our C2R Cruel Summer series is a Jeff pick: the summer action and adventure blockbuster from 1997, Con Air. After being wrongfully imprisoned for defending his wife in a bar fight, Cameron Poe (played by Nic Cage) does 50 million prison push-ups and then boards a flight to finally go home to his family. But it just so happens he's joined by ten of the most dangerous men in the American penal system. Led by Cyrus the Virus (played by John Malkovich), the crude criminal stereotypes hijack the plane, leaving Cameron to save the f**king day with his muscles and roundhouse kicks. Join us as we go on a tangent around body transformations (because of Cage's hot bod) during which Jeff learns about all the big strong muscles Angie developed as a gymnast. We also visit an early chapter of Jeff's life that he would really prefer to forget (hint: it involves guitars and way too many burgers). So, sit back, relax, turn up those earbuds, and put the bunny...back in the box.Ways to support us: Rate and review us on Apple PodcastsBuy merch from the C2R shopTell us fun things at 929-456-0304 or send us an emailSubscribe to our C2R playlist on Spotify
Make a move and the bunny gets it! Holding a stuffed animal at gunpoint is just one of the many evil deeds committed by Cyrus the Virus in "Con Air," an R-rated action extravaganza that makes no sense but absolutely rules anyway. Cyrus the Virus is a swaggering supervillain played with gleeful panache by John Malkovich. Oh and did we mention a sweaty, long-haired, Southern drawlin' Nicolas Cage as wrongly-accused convict-turned-reluctant hero Cameron Poe? He's here to save the (expletive deleted) day. In between the action set pieces (of which there are many), "Con Air" is mostly a movie comprised of characters saying each other's nicknames. Diamond Dog, Pinball, Swamp Thing, Johnny 23, Baby-O... even Steve Buscemi's already-memorable real name, Garland Greene, comes with a nickname, "The Marietta Mangler." He really does have the whole world in his hands. Old Millennials Remember Movies - Con Air podcast In this latest installment of the Summer of Jerry Bruckheimer, Old Millennials Tyler and Angela discuss this movie's irritating opening act, the baffling logic of driving a convoy of soldiers through the only enclosed area in a 100-mile stretch of desert, Malkovich's delicious line-reading (including a little ditty about someone losing their bladder), and the Nicolas Cage moments that inspired a million memes. Tyler and Angela also catch up with a number of big-time new release movies in the first half of the episode. The Summer of Bruckheimer takes to the skies! Try not to get yourself stuck in the landing gear. In their first foray into the Land of the Dread, the boyz (Cameron Poe, Memphis Raines and John Milton) get their beaks wet with a look at the band Saliva and their mega-hit “Click Click Boom.” They knock thrice on Josey Scott's goatee piercing and are allowed entry into “The Memphis Way.” The city, not the host. This episode is but a taste of dreads to come so strap yourself in. It's going to be a real slobberknocker. Stay tuned. Highlights include: Come on, Eileen; Dreadlocks explained; L. In this episode Mark talks about the 1997 action thriller film "Con Air" directed by Simon West, written by Scott Rosenberg and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. The film stars Nicholas Cage as Cameron Poe, an honourably discharged Army Ranger Sergeant who was sentenced to prison for unintentionally killing one of three men trying to attack him and his wife, Tricia (played by Monica Potter), who was pregnant with his unborn daughter, Casey Poe (played by Landry Allbright). After spending 8 years in prison Cameron Poe is eventually paroled and boards the "Jailbird" flying prison transport aircraft, along with his diabetic friend, Mike "Baby-O" O'Dell (played by Mykelti Williamson) - however he finds himself having to contend with and survive the hijacking of the plane by several other inmates, including Cyrus "The Virus" Grissom (played by John Malkovich), Nathan "Diamond Dog" Jones (played by Ving Rhames, Johnny "Johnny 23" Baca (played by Danny Trejo), and Garland "The Marietta Mangler" Greene (played by Steve Buscemi) - and while secretly working with U.S. Marshall Vince Larkin (played John Cusack) and attempting to not be killed along with the other convicts by DEA agent Duncan Malloy (played by Colm Meaney), all that Cameron Poe wants is to finally be reunited with his wife, Tricia, and meet his daughter, Casey, for the first time... but in this throughly enjoyable, action-packed and bombastic film nothing turns out as simple as anybody wants them too. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/markthepoet/message

Agent Vince Larkin, upon realizing he was face to face with Cameron Poe, one of the good guys, he stated "I'm going to lower my weapon, Poe, are you going to lower yours?" To which Poe responded "There's only two men in this world that I trust. One of em is me and the other one ain't you"... This Klarity moment gives us a quick glimpse at how, just because we are willing to 'lower our weapon', until trust is established between two parties, two races, two sexes, others are not obligated to lower theirs. And until we all get this, we are all going to be stuck, still standing there having a showdown at Lerner Airfield...
Joe and Todd are back and are rejoined via interview clips by Ronny Pascale as the discuss one of Nic Cage's Holy Trinity of Action, Con Air. Joe and Ronny discuss why Cameron Poe even went to jail. Joe reads the synopsis of an upcoming Nic Cage movie and reveals which actor pulled out a knife during an audition for this movie. The all star cast is discussed. Todd calls out an interesting flaw in the hijacking. They discuss John Cusak and John Malkovich's feelings about the movie. They talk about the stereotypes in the movie and how much of the US is barren. Joe campares the Las Vegas you see in the movie to the one he experienced. Joe gets Ronny's take on his first date, where he saw this movie and triggered the whole episode. Joe makes an interesting Star Wars comment for the toxic fans during the credits. This is So Bad It's Good - a show about two friends talking about crappy films and passing time in lockdown. This week we're blessed with the presence of Rain, a Cage-onomics expert and film buff. We chat through what hairstyle we'd prefer and discuss how interesting we can make the alphabet. Rain shares her views on the American justice system and Cameron Poe's workout routine while Ash gives his two pence on the magic of Face/Off science. Our casting couch considers whether Elijah Wood could speak Cockney and if a well known panel show host could become a super villain. Thanks to everyone that's still listening to our show. Our lucky 13th episode and 3rd installment in the Summer of Cage, is jam packed with Cagetastic goodness. In the 1st half we join Benjamin Franklin Gates as he steals the Declaration of Independence in an effort to decipher a centuries old mystery in hopes of uncovering the lost treasure of the the Free Mason's and in the process clear his family's good name, in John Turteltaub's action adventure film, National Treasure (2004). For our 2nd half we rejoin Benjamin Gates and his cohorts as they once again try to clear their families good name after it is sullied when Mitch (Ed Harris) claims that a member of their family planned the Lincoln assassination, in John Turteltaub's National Treasure sequel Book of Secrets (2007). But that's not all. It is our pleasure to have our very first ever special guest Petros Patsilivas, the creator and voice of Caged In Podcast, joins us as he explains his recent epic Kanye like Twitter rant, tells us what his favorite Nic Cage movie is, who his favorite Nic Cage character is and whom he'd Marry-Fuck-Kill between Red Miller, Castor Troy & Cameron Poe. This is some highbrow shit. Along the way we will also discuss the difference between American & British politics, how we feel about Nicolas Cage possibly playing Superman in DC's upcoming Flash film, if we think the real name of Nic's up coming horror film is Willy's or Wally's Wonderland and who our Nicolas Cage character is based on our zodiac sign. Most sequels, by Hollywood's standards, are pure shit. That however is not the case with at least this "kind of sequel" to last weeks 1st Volume of our 13th episode and 3rd edition of our Summer of Cage Series. For Volume 2 we rejoin Benjamin Gates and his cohorts as they try to clear their families good name after it is sullied when Mitch (Ed Harris) claims that a member of their family planned the Lincoln assassination, in John Turteltaub's National Treasure sequel Book of Secrets (2007). Along the way our 1st ever special guest, Caged In Podcast's very own Petros Patsilivas, joins us as he explains his recent epic Kanye like twitter rant. We'll find out what his favorite Nic Cage movie is, who his favorite Nic Cage character is and whom he'd Marry-Fuck-Kill between Red Miller, Castor Troy & Cameron Poe. This is some highbrow shit. Con Air is the perfect example of mid- to late-90s action cinema. It's big, dumb, loud, boasts a script loaded with corny quips, and has a highly questionable sense of taste. Most important, though, it's a hell of a fun ride. It's also part of the Nicolas Cage holy trinity of badass movies—The Rock, Face/Off, and this one—which were all mega hits, helping to cement his standing as the biggest star on the planet. His run from 1995 to 2000 is almost unparalleled. In 95, he won the Oscar for Best Actor. He then rattled off seven (nearly eight) $100+ million films in his next nine roles. The only outlier was the critically acclaimed and Thunderous Wizard approved Bringing Out the Dead. Con Air; and, as mentioned above, it's great for all the right reasons and a few wrong ones, as well. Its set pieces are devil may care master works of practical effects and a sheer disregard for their consequences. Casinos are plowed into by runaway planes; cars crash through air traffic control towers; and the villain, Cyrus "The Virus" played by John Malkovich, is put through literal hell just to die. At times, they are so manic that it's difficult to believe they were framed by the eye that brought us the timeless Rick Astley hit "Never Gonna Give You Up." It doesn't hurt, either, that the cast is perhaps the best ever assembled for a movie of this nature. From Steve Buscemi as a mass murderer to John Cusack as a wise-cracking fed, almost every major role is played by a recognizable face. The explosions and stars, coupled with Cage's just horrific Southern accent, are enough for you to ignore the elements that have not aged like the fine wine of the stunt work. Looking at you Johnny 23 (Danny Trejo). So with that, it's time for the Jailbird to takeoff! So sit back, unshackle a Trejo's Cerveza from Lincoln Beer Company, and put the bunny back in the box! I, the Thunderous Wizard (@WriterTLK), Capt. Cash, and Chumpzilla are here to spoil Cyrus' barbecue! In Episode 6 of Season 2, the lads discuss 'Con Air'. Con Air is a 1997 American action thriller film directed by Simon West, written by Scott Rosenberg, and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. Honorably discharged Army Ranger Cameron Poe (Nicolas Cage) is given a ten-year prison sentence for involuntary manslaughter after killing a drunken man - one of three who tried to attack him and his pregnant wife Tricia. While in prison, Poe communicates with Tricia and his newborn daughter Casey through letters; eight years later, he is paroled and takes a flight to Alabama on board the Jailbird, a Fairchild C-123 Provider converted into a flying prison transport. While on board Cameron Poe finds himself trapped in a prisoner transport plane when the passengers seize control. The fllm stars Nicolas Cage, John Cusack, and John Malkovich, with Steve Buscemi, Colm Meaney, Mykelti Williamson, Ving Rhames, Nick Chinlund, Jesse Borrego, Jose Zuniga, and Monica Potter in supporting roles.
His bags are packed. He's ready to go. He's standing outside his cell door. He hates to wake you up to say goodbye...Cause he's leavin' on a jet plane. Don't know if he'll be back again. That's right, ladies and gentlemen. Finally. We made it. Brian and Brock got to bear witness to the living weapon himself, Cameron Poe. Star of 1997's action classic "Con Air." Co-starring such heavy-hitters as Ving Rhames, Steve Buscemi, Dave Chappelle, John Cusack, and John Malkovich, this movie pulled out all the stops. Thrills, spills, kills, and chills! Before all that, the boys host a little fantasy draft with a babysitting twist. And that's it. Really. There's a lot of movie to talk about. Not a ton of banter. Poe spends nearly a decade in jail for this act but eventually gets released to reunite with his family for good. Unfortunately there’s only one thing standing in his way: he just happens to be stuck on an airborne prison transport and the convicts have taken over. 1997 was the year that debuted one of Nic Cage's most iconic action performances of all time. Con Air was Jerry Bruckheimer's follow up film to the The Rock which was a massive blockbuster that summer. Nic Cage portray's "Cameron Poe" a wrongfully convicted Army Ranger who ends up being yet again... in the wrong place at the wrong time. 20 years ago, Nic Cage hit the gym and delivered himself to audiences an eccentric action hero with the name Cameron Poe. As a parolee boarding a plane to freedom, Poe finds himself surrounded by a collection of the worst criminals in the country. As they take flight, Cyrus the Virus leads the convicts on a takeover of the plane with a yet to be determined destination. As the U.S. Marshals struggle to find them, Poe realizes it's up to him to stop them all if he's ever going to see his wife and daughter again. Listeners have clamored for us to have a crack at Nicolas Cage's classic, so here we are. Place your seats in their upright positions and prepare for take off, as we're about to Remake Con Air RIGHT! Does the story need updating? Should characters or motives be tweaked? Do we need more muppets? We take all factors into account, concoct our film, and then offer a Final Pitch to you in movie trailer form. By the end of each episode, we will Remake This Movie RIGHT! Our show is broken down into three distinct parts: The Original: We discuss the original film’s impact, some quick trivia bits, what worked the best from the film and therefore must remain in our upcoming remake, and what didn’t work or what needs to be changed for today’s audiences. The Remake: We put together our movie! What story do we want to tell, how close to the original will it be, who will star, and ultimately who should direct our eventual cinematic masterpiece? Our hosts work together to put together one cohesive movie, but there is one caveat - Each host has one ‘CUT!’ throughout the episode to employ which could completely derail the entire film. The Final Pitch: This is where we summarize our remake by utilizing the voice talents of voiceover artist Wayne Henderson and present our finished remake to you in movie trailer form! Welcome to Con Air, your number one airlines if you are super butt. Like Nickelback? You'll love Con Air. Like penis measuring? Con Air is your favorite. Think Jerry Bruckheimer is a good producer, kiss our collective ass. This movie sucks. The movie is about the impossible. Going to prison for a crime that you wouldn't get charged with, Cage's Alabama accent, his hair, the concept of the prison plane, Colm Meaney having a job, and the lack of geographical understanding. None of it works. The villain's plan doesn't make a lick of sense and the "good" guys plans don't help. Even Nic Cage's "Cameron Poe" breaks his own rules for the sake of "action". So we're big action fans. Does this movie have good action? Nope. Too much slow motion and shirtless guys trying to look cool. Does it have a lot of action? Nope. There's a disparaging lack of anything happening in this film. This is supposed to be a "roller-coaster ride". I remember roller-coasters being exciting for the entire time. This really only has two 10 minute actions sequences which amounts to 17% of the movie. If you went on a roller-coaster that only got up to speed 17% of the time, you probably wouldn't be thrilled. Then there's the music. It's wall to wall shit. If Nickelback had a baby with Toby Keith then you've got this soundtrack. Its inescapable. Take a look at Cage's hair and you can paint the three-chord guitar in your mind. It's fairly uneventful and completely moronic but it's worth checking out on a revisit ONLY for the sake of realizing how really really bad it is. Otherwise, you've got better things to do with your time.
“I want to take his face… OFF!” screams Sean Archer acting as Caster Troy as portrayed by Nicolas Cage as portrayed by John Travolta. The fact that sentences like this accurately describe scenes from John Woo’s Face/Off indicate the truly special nature of this 1997 Hollywood action film. But do not take this for a standard Hollywood action film, listener. For as we discover in this snob, Face/Off is in fact one of the most Chinese films ever made. How does Con Air fit in? Well, it also stars Nicolas Cage, it’s also an action movie, and it also came out in 1997. While it may be a lot less Chinese than Face/Off, it still stars Steve Buscemi. This is a movie that is as Amurrikan as it gets. And that’s not just because Nicolas Cage has long flowing locks. It’s also because Jerry Bruckheimer has long flowing locks. (Keep in mind, listener, this film came out before Jerry B. was absorbed into his dominant personality, known now as “Michael Bay”.) It’s also because there’s a lot of explosions, strange/misplaced humor, John Malkovich, and a very angry Colm Meaney. What a meanie! So join us in this mashup of iconic 90s action movies, listener. Whether we are talking about Cameron Poe, Castor Troy, Cameron Troy, or Castor Poe, you can never be sure whether or not we are really talking about Sean Archer, ready to impale us with a Scientology harpoon at any second. In our Heideggarian mission, we are riding this 90s action movie ship in our inevitable Being-Toward-Explosion. What kind of explosion culminates it all? Well, that depends on how Chinese you are willing to get. May we all be receptive to the presence of the Tao. Episode Progression: 3:25: Shout-outs 8:20 : Con Air 46:00 : Face/Off
