Ray Allen played 18 seasons in the NBA and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as a player in 2018. Allen was a 10-time NBA All-Star and won an Olympic gold medal as a member of the 2000 United States men's basketball team. Bill Squires, or as I know him as Professor Squires from Columbia University's Sports Management Master's program, emphasizes the importance of being curious. Curiosity and being kind go a long way. It's just not about networking, it's about making connections that can lead to friendships. He has an amazing story of how he started working in the sports business and continued to pivot. Additionally, he's now the president of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation NJ Chapter. More about Bill: Bill is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy (Class of 1975) and served on active duty as a naval aviator for 12 years before joining the Naval Reserves. Bill retired from the Naval Reserves as a Commander after 24 years of service. In 1987, following active duty in the United States Navy, Bill entered the sports facilities and event management business. He has held top-level positions with the following facilities: Yankee Stadium, Giants Stadium (two tours), Cleveland Browns Stadium (currently known as First Energy Stadium) and Disney's Wide World of Sports (currently known as ESPN Wide World of Sports). Bill was involved in the design, construction, and operations of ESPN Wide World of Sports, First Energy Stadium and MetLife Stadium. His responsibilities included budgeting, staffing, training, event execution, maintenance, and capital improvements as well as many other responsibilities. Bill is a Past President of the Stadium Managers Association which has members from the National Football League, Major League Baseball, Minor League Baseball, Major League Soccer, the Canadian Football League, Universities/Colleges, and other facilities, both national and international, that host sports and entertainment events. Bill currently has his own consulting business featuring clients such as the New York Football Giants. Bill is the liaison between the team and the New Meadowlands Stadium Company which operates the $1.6 billion MetLife Stadium. Many of his other clients provide products and services to the sports facility industry. Bill also works as an expert witness in lawsuits that involve sports teams and venues.

Winter Summerland Miniature Golf, Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf Partially used multi-day theme park tickets with a usage window impacted by Hurricane Ian related park closure will automatically be extended to use the remaining entitlements through any date through September 30, 2023. Walt Disney World Resort Hotels For the safety of our Guests and Cast Members, Guests must check in to our resorts on Sept. 28, by 3 p.m. Please feel free to reschedule your trip or cancel your stay with us; any customary cancellation fees will be waived. Guests that are checked in by 3 p.m. Wednesday will be asked to shelter in place at their resort for the duration of the storm, this includes any resort-to-resort transfers Guests are strongly encouraged to enjoy food and beverage offerings at the parks and Disney Springs before returning to their Resort hotels. In the United States of America, February is Black History Month - an opportunity for all Americans to reflect on the historical contributions of African Americans in the country's history and is now perhaps more poignant than ever following events in the USA over the last year. The death of George Floyd last May sparked a worldwide reaction of shock and horror at police brutality towards black people in America and led to the worldwide Black Lives Matter movement, with protests and demonstrations taking place around the globe. Many sports stars used their platform to show support. USA World Cup winner Crystal Dunn, tennis player Taylor Townsend and Olympic triple jumper Will Claye have been discussing their own experiences along with Nashville striker and former US men's international, CJ Sapong who joined Sportsworld’s Lee James to discuss racial injustice and social inequality. We're back! After a long delay due to COVID-19, nationwide protests for racial justice, and the attempted overthrow of one of our branches of government, we start off strong with Dave Clark, broadcast voice for the Tacoma Defiance and Sounder at Heart contributor, recapping the challenges faced by both the Defiance and the Sounders in 2020 during their respective seasons. Dave also writes about Dungeons & Dragons on his blog, Full Moon Storytelling, including a very interesting write-up on how to incorporate sports play into your D&D game. The MLS is Back Tournament (or the COVID Cup as we so lovingly dubbed it) was conducted in Orlando from July 8 – August 11 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. While overall the tournament can be viewed as a successful employment of the “bubble” format we saw throughout professional sports including the NWSL (first successful league to “bubble” in Herriman, UT) and the NBA (also in Orlando at the WWofS). MLS would also return to play post MLS is Back tournament in a regional format that was intended to minimize travel for teams due to the soaring COVID-19 infection rates nationwide. We discuss the challenges of the return to play, the things we missed the most, and how young player development was affected due to the difference in safety protocols between MLS and the USL Championship.What are the teams' needs as we head into 2021? The Sounders did not activate options on a lot of players that have been key components for the team over the past few seasons leaving some obvious, and maybe not so obvious, holes in the roster. We also discuss the success of the Sounders as an org in the following of COVID-19 procedures in comparison to other leagues and other teams in Washington. Also, Schmetz is staying put in Seattle and it appears Gonzo Pineda is as well after being on the short list to take over for DC United. We discuss the merits of Brian Schmetzer and his importance to the Sounders organization and their success since he took over as head coach. Mike is the longest tenured executive in ESPN Wide World of Sports' history. As ESPN Wide World of Sports is the epicenter of major league pro sports in America right now, I know there are lots of questions from our listeners and from the general public that we sought to answer here.For some quick background on ESPN Wide World of Sports, it opened in March 1997, and each year, over 300,000+ unique athletes compete there. It’s a 250+ acre sports complex right in the middle of Walt Disney World property, including a 7,500 seat baseball stadium, a 5,000 seat multi-purpose arena, a smaller 70,000 square foot foot arena, twelve full size soccer fields, four multi-purpose fields, four professional baseball fields, six softball fields, a tennis complex, a track and field complex, a cross country course, and more. The complex is huge in size, and in revenue. From a financial perspective, it was about a $100 million NET revenue business driver for the Mouse when Mike was there.Mike left ESPN Wide World of Sports about 5 years ago, while some of the stats may have changed, most of the business strategy remains the same. Today, Mike owns a number of different companies in the sports industry, but for the purposes of the podcast, we stick to ESPN Wide World of Sports. Call Put Strike: Daily Financial News Summary for Tuesday May 26, 2020 Visit: https://callputstrike.com Stocks were up Tuesday after a long weekend for Memorial Day. The Dow Jones rose by 2.2%, the S&P 500 increased by 1.3%, and the NASDAQ climbed by 0.2%. The Dow Jones, the S&P 500 and the NASDAQ are all currently on track for a monthly gain in May. The S&P 500 exceeded 3000 earlier on Tuesday, which is the first time since early March. In addition, the S&P 500 also broke above its 200-day moving average. All these signs are pointing to a shift from a bear market to bull market. President Donald Trump tweeted Tuesday: “Stock Market up BIG, DOW crosses 25,000. S&P 500 over 3000. States should open up ASAP. The Transition to Greatness has started, ahead of schedule. There will be ups and downs, but next year will be one of the best ever!” Novavax, a biotechnology company, announced that they are currently starting a clinical trial with a Covid19 candidate. The company is expecting to receive trial results in July. They also could have a vaccine ready for emergency use by the fall. There are currently 10 vaccines in clinical evaluation and 114 in pre-clinical evaluation. Novavax's shares increased by 20% in premarket trading. The NYSE partially reopened Tuesday, for the first time since late March. 80 floor brokers were allowed to enter, which is approximately 25% of their usual numbers. Anyone entering the building is required to get their temperatures taken, and sign legal documents stating that they understand the risks and rules of coming back to work. The rules prohibit anyone from using public transportation to arrive. The optimistic signs that the economy is reopening caused bank stocks to increase. Citigroup and Wells Fargo both increased by over 9%. The Bank of American and JPMorgan both rose by 7% as well. Consumer confidence in the economy has increased to 86.6 in May, from 85.7 in April. Investors are paying close attention to the tensions between China and the United States. Over the weekend, Robert O'Brien, White House National Security Advisor announced that the United States could impose sanctions on China. This could happen if Beijing gains more control over Hong Kong through a national security law. Data from the Transportation Security Administration showed that the number of travelers has increased in recent days, possibly due to the holiday weekend. Over 250,000 travelers passed through checkpoints on Saturday and Sunday of the long weekend. Data from the hospitality firm STR also showed an increase in hotel occupants. The week ending May 16 saw an occupancy rate of 32.40%. This is an increase from 21.0% the month before. The National Basketball Association (NBA) is currently in talks about returning in July. They are discussing the possibility of playing games at Disney's ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Florida. Nothing is confirmed as of yet.
