On this episode, Lera and Sergio speak with Douglas Selvage at the Humboldt University of Berlin about his research on the disinformation cooperation between KGB and STASI during the Cold War and specifically the work of Operation "Denver" in the 1980s. Dr. Selvage talks of how these same Cold War propaganda tactics are nearly verbatim recycled today in Putin's war of aggression in Ukraine. Correction: After review by an expert on history (ie: someone with more knowledge than us)(ie: Nathan), it turns out that there wasn't a vaccine for the Spanish Flu, since at the time scientists were still looking for a bacterial cause instead of a virus. There WAS a vaccine for smallpox, and that's what inspired some of the political cartoons about the dangers of anti-vax sentiment, like the one scanned from the 1930's booklet Health In Pictures.
