In this powerful, vulnerable episode, Marie-Christine sits down with Caitlin Creeper shares the story of losing her partner Israel, navigating life as a solo parent to their son Tiago, and the ways she honours Isra's memory in her daily life. This isn't just a story of loss—it's a story of love. Of the life they built, the night it all changed, and what it means to keep going when someone you love deeply is no longer here.A reminder that love doesn't vanish, it just sometimes changes form.In this episode we discuss;Twelve years of partnership, the life MC and Israel shared travelling world, surfing and achieving their dreams togetherThe day everything changedHow she navigates keeping Isra present for Tiago without sugarcoating realityThe moment she looked in the mirror and decided: “This can't be the face my son sees every day”What support actually looks like after loss (hint: don't say “let me know if you need anything”)The balance between doing deep spiritual work… and just surviving another dayHow surfing, friendship, and letting herself feel everything became part of the healingHow grief rewires your brain, your focus, and your relationshipsGuilt, regret, and motherhood in the postpartum phaseSpiritual connection beyond deathHow some friendships deepened, others faded—and why that's okayNote for our listeners * this episode contains deeply emotional content around sudden loss, grief, and the immediate aftermath of death. While we've edited with tenderness, some moments may still be activating—especially for those grieving or who've experienced trauma. Please listen with care and give yourself permission to pause or come back later. They dive into her motivations for the project, the challenges of juggling writing with life, and the experience of landing a book deal. Why do we get so embarrassed when we're learning a new sport or skill or craft? I call it beginner's shame. PERSON: “Are these your paintings?”US: “I mean, yes… but like, I'm JUST STARTING and I haven't had any OFFICIAL TRAINING and this is just a HOBBY, and these paintings here aren't my BEST ONES, you know, and uh…”I notice it in the surf, girls who are learning, yet sit out on the shoulder and don't go for waves when they roll in, simply because some old dude is going for it, too.And in the girls' head she has this running dialogue like “well… they're probably a better surfer and i'm just going to fall off anyway so, you know, I'll just wait for another one.” I get it. We don't really allow much space for people in this world who are just… average at something. Welcome back to Take a Walk: with your host Caitlin Creeper. This is where your Salty Club co-founder (the Australian one) drops in and shares what's been on her mind in the past week. This ep ranges from extremely light as she reflects of everything she's learnt from watching Suits on Netflix, and ends up reflecting on a part of living in Central America she usually doesn't talk about; how immigration by foot from Central to the United States is such a present theme in her life in the community around her. She also reflects on why having a three year old is such a fun age and if you're in the throes of having a two year old, the three year old chapter is a welcome breath of fresh air.

Why does it feel like if you don't hit the ground running on a Monday, it derails the whole week? In this episode of Take a Walk, Caitlin explores this relationship we have between structure and wild, as we move throughout the week, trying to accomplish everything we want to accomplish without feeling like our weeks are machine-like, or predictable. When she was younger, the week started off hyper-structured, so by Friday she was dying to completely blow out the balance on a reckless weekend. But it proved not sustainable. How can we structure our week to hold the two, sometimes seemingly opposing part of ourselves, and make them work together? Podcast Song: Green - Mae Mae

Interviewed by Caitlin Creeper.California born and bred, Kassia Meador began surfing at age 14. By 17-years-old, Kassia was a sponsored pro-longboarder, traveling the world. Known for her graceful surf style, Kassia was crowned the "queen of noseriding" by the New York Times and in 2011 ranked 2nd on the WSL women's longboard tour.Throughout her career as a competitive sponsored athlete, Kassia was actively involved in designing products under the umbrella of her sponsors. In 2013, Kassia left sponsored surfing to build a brand--that focused on quality instead of quantity, working towards more conscious solutions rather than contributing to the larger global issues. In 2015 she launched KASSIA+SURF, a brand for women by women with design rooted in authenticity gained through 23 years experience. We are so stoked to be interviewing Kassia today as part of the Salty Club's Move and Breathe with the Pro's Program, where Kassia provides a crystal sound experience.

I'm here today with Taylor Godber. She is a backcountry snowboarder that lives in Whistler, BC. In her own words, one of the things that truly makes her feel alive, is backcountry snowboarding. Whether its snowmobile access or self-propelled missions; navigating the mountains under bluebird skies or in the chaos of a storm; dropping in to carve a line down a snow covered face or weaving between trees in pockets of pow with friends, it all demands for us to be present, to live in the moment. And there is no better place to be.She creates recipes and nutrition guides for The Salty Club, and we are stoked to have her in our new move and breathe with the Pro's program, where she has created a ten minute breathe routine and a meditation and pranayama video. Lets get into it.

Just a few notes before we get started. This is MC, my cofounder, and I, Caitlin, talking about our own personal experiences with surfing. It was recorded a while back while MC was still pregnant We consulted our own birth care providers, we tuned into our own bodies, we weighed up the risk for ourselves, and from there we decided what surfing would look like for us during pregnancy. This is an invitation to do the same for yourself if you're wondering if you can keep up your sport during pregnancy, feel into your body, talk to your birth care provider make the right decision for you because you are the only one who will have to be responsible for the decisions you make. The purpose of this interview is more to just drop into some of the emotional and physical intricacies of surfing, or continuing your chosen sport, while pregnant. We see these pictures of women surfing with their big bellies and maybe idealise the same situation for ourselves but the truth is it's a lot more complicated than that. You might think you want to surf until the end of your pregnancy but maybe your body is calling you to stop sooner, you might want to surf but the season is too gnarly for your comfort level. You might surprise yourself and surf might be a really positive and helpful thing for you. It's about being open and curious and accepting for this stage of your life, surfing, or your chosen sport will be different. And that doesn't mean its bad, it is an opportunity to experience your sport, yourself, this stage of your life in a completely different way. This is an extension or lets say a taster of our Mama Program; Journey to Motherhood. Which is a complete 360 package designed to support and guide you through pregnancy, birth and early postpartum. You'll find more interviews like this, informational videos, prenatal and postnatal yoga classes, prenatal and postnatal workouts, a 219 page ebook designed to guide you through the emotional underworld of pregnancy, birth and new motherhood. It is has been a long time in the making, almost a year, and it is finally here. "I think of all the womenI longed to becomeYet when I did, I never fully let myself be there, before I turned my focus on the next thing. All I was yet to doAll I was yet to become. And I think maybe, just maybe, I need to stand here right now, turn around, and see the woman I have built so far. And see how hard I've worked to be here, to be me. And maybe that's all that needs to be done right now."In this episode Caitlin Creeper talks about how often we are doing a lot better than we think. She talks about the importance of looking back and seeing all the small milestones we've achieved along the way and taking the time to really integrate and celebrate ourselves for what we've done. We're taught to want it all. We see representations of women over and over, juggling it all, all at the same time. Great love life, great group of friends, health and fitness on point, a rich world of study and inquiry and self development, community, career and ambitions and family. We have many needs, many streams through which we can be fulfilled and happy- but is trying to have it all, all at once, causing more pressure than peace? What if life can't happen all at once? What if its better to accept our cyclical nature, the inevitable seasonal nature of life, where some things will prioritised each season, and other things are for "not right now?"What if we released ourselves of the pressure to have it all, all at once?Caitlin Creeper riffs on this idea in this 22 minute podcast.
If you're feeling overwhelmed, over-stretched, tired, feeling put-upon and not really sure how you're going to make all the pieces of your life work today, I hope that this small solocast can help.
