It's game day for the Edmonton Oilers with the New York Islanders in town, which meant there was plenty to talk about on the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio. On today's podcast, we looked at the Oilers' 7-3 win over the Canucks, what to expect from the New York Islanders, Brett Kulak's strong start, and more.We started the Tuesday podcast episode by discussing which team we enjoy watching the Oilers beat the most and why. Whether it's laughing at Canucks fans because of how annoying the fanbase can be or Toronto for the way they think they're better than everyone else, it was fun to try and figure out which team is the most annoying. Flipping the question, are there any teams that the boys don't mind losing to?Moving along, we looked back at the anniversary of Jay Woodcroft being fired and Kris Knoblauch coming in. Seeing as the boys were in Seattle on a Nation Vacation when Woodcroft was fired, everyone gave their take on what life's been like in the year since that coaching change. Back to the current team, the boys also spent some time talking about Evan Bouchard's struggles and how Oilers fans are looking for a whole lot more from their first pairing defenceman. Finally, the squad wrapped up the Tuesday podcast with some betting talk, keys to victory for beating the Islanders, and offered up a score prediction ahead of tonight's game at Rogers Place. Given that the Oilers and Islanders are both working through varying struggles, their first of two meetings on the season could be a low scoring affair. That said, this game could also be one where the special teams play a major factor given that both sides are struggling on both the PP and the PK.

Tuesday afternoon means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio to try and make sense of everything that's happened over the last few days, and this past week has been one of the wildest in recent memory. We started the podcast with a delicious debate about the firing of Jay Woodcroft and replacing him with Kris Knoblauch. Was it the right move to fire Jay Woodcroft after so many things went wrong that were out of his control? In the NHL, the coaches always pay the price for slow starts, and ultimately, that's precisely what happened with Woody. Moving past Woodcroft being fired, we looked at the Ken Holland/Jeff Jackson press conference and how it seemed completely disjointed. There were mixed messages contradicting timelines, which left the fanbase angry and confused. Next up, we looked at the organization's decision to hire Kris Knoblauch as the new head coach and whether it was the right decision. One thing is for sure: the Oilers chose to go with an up-and-comer instead of an old retread coach, as many of us expected they would if Woody got canned. Was Kris Knoblauch the right choice? Only time will tell. Lastly, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of ONR with a recap of the #NationVacation to Seattle and how much fun it was to get away and watch the team play in another city with a fantastic group of people. If you've never been on one of these vacays before then you absolutely have to join us for the trip to Arizona in February. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Tuesday means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is wrapped up and ready to get you through the middle portion of your week. Given that the team dropped another heartbreaking loss last night in Vancouver, the boys were in poor spirits, to say the least. Kicking off the podcast, we got started with a delicious debate about whether or not Jack Campbell hitting the waiver wire was the right move. Obviously, things could not be going worse for this team, but is Soup being the sacrificial lamb even fair? We also wondered if this lack of goaltending and defensive lapses would result in the coach losing his job. Sticking with Woodcroft for a moment, watching him get kicked out was really something given that it was the first time that's happened to an Oilers coach since February of 1983. Working through the 6-2 loss to Vancouver, we tried to figure out how the Oilers could start so well only to have the rest of the game collapse around them. Normally, Oilers fans are clamouring for better starts, but this year, those haven't been a problem so much as what happens for the remaining 50 minutes. Lastly, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio with Woz's signature segment, 'Can You Clear This Up For Me?' to see if we can help make sense of what the hell is happening.
