[EP 25-173] Democrats are LOSING IT! I know you are sharp enough to see their desperation. One of my listeners said that when she goes to leftist media, she gets fearful. She wants to peak over there, but then returns scared. That's intentional. It's why people have abandoned them. At some point, you need a rest from the turmoil. It's always doom and gloom for Leftists, even when they are in charge. The THREAT of a boogeyman must ALWAYS be there. A few headlines from the last few days:Trump's wild first 100 days leave key questions unansweredTrump tariffs still cloudyNo way US can recoup lost China container imports How to navigate market, tariff chaos5 Ways to Tariff Proof Your FinancesBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-kevin-jackson-show--2896352/support.
Trump's turning up the heat with his tariff talk, JD Vance is laying down some serious truth, and even Bill O'Reilly is chiming in with his take on trade. We've got Reagan flashbacks, Pelosi and Schumer flip-flops, and Charlie Shrem breaking it all down like a boss. Laura Loomer had a meeting with Trump, Mayor Adams is switching parties (wait, what?!), and the left is still calling Trump a Russia lover—because of course they are. Oh, and a young woman took a knee rather than compete against a trans athlete, and people are LOSING IT. We're also talking RFK Jr. exposing Fauci, Scott Jennings delivering a much-needed smackdown, and Elie Mystal wanting to rewrite the Constitution. Casual. Bill Maher's talking Ivy League insanity, and even DOGE gets a moment in the spotlight thanks to Senator Kennedy.Get top-tier America-first coffee from Blackout Coffee. Trump just pulled the ultimate power move, and the elites are LOSING IT. With deep-state bureaucrats scrambling and globalists panicking, Trump is slashing government control, hitting China with tariffs, and shifting the world order—this is the reformation we've been praying for!
In this episode of The Losing It! Podcast, we're tackling the ultimate glow-up: how to stop emotional eating, lose weight, and reinvent yourself in 2025—without turning into a kale-munching monk. If you've had enough of late-night cookie binges (been there, done that), and you're ready to ditch the guilt, I'll show you how to take control of your habits, crush emotional eating, and create a body (and life) that screams “look at me now!”. It's time to level up, Bombshells—because the only thing standing between you and your dream self is a bag of chips and a few mindset tweaks. Let's do this!
Left-wing lawmakers are LOSING IT over an "anti trans" bill that's actually just... common sense. I break it down in this episode of the Brad vs Everyone podcast. Plus, a Republican congresswoman gets GHETTO on the House floor and California socialists are coming unhinged amid the wildfires.
TikTok is absolutely LOSING IT after Trump's sweeping victory in the presidential election. I break down the most extreme meltdowns in this episode of the Brad vs Everyone podcast, plus give my commentary on the state of American politics.
FULL EPISODE AVAILABLE AT patreon.com/bachelorinretrospect In this bonus episode for patrons, Annemarie, still traumatized from the honeymoon suite cam at Sean and Catherine's wedding, sits down with romance author and academic Jodi McAlister to unpack the Bachelor's obsession with doing storylines about Losing It. Annemarie and Jodi discuss all your favorite famous Bachelor virgins and how they felt about the show making it their storyline, the sociological and religious scripts about sex and virginity we see play on out in the franchise, and what exactly "five and a half" sex acts means in the twisted mind of Mike Fleiss. As we wrap up our special Essential Summit mini-series on The Narrative, you don't want to miss Dr. Larry Arnn's insightful keynote address. Dr. Arnn, President of Hillsdale College, explains why humans are made for knowledge, virtue, and politics. Want to know how that's possible? Listen to today's episode! Following his keynote, Dr. Arnn is joined by CCV President Aaron Baer and Senate President Matt Huffman to discuss why school choice must be a priority, why argument is necessary to reach a common good, and why more money is not the answer to our education crisis. More about Dr. Larry Arnn Larry P. Arnn is the 12th president of Hillsdale College, where he is also a professor of politics and history. He received his B.A. from Arkansas State University and his M.A. and Ph.D. in Government from the Claremont Graduate School. My guest today is the writer, actress and comedian Helen Lederer. Helen began as a stand-up comedian in the “comedy swamp” of the 1980s, where women were like hen's teeth and rose to fame with her sloaney girl at the bar in the BBC Comedy ‘Naked video'. Then came Saturday Night Live, The Young Ones, French and Saunders and Bottom with Rik Mayall. But she's probably best known as Catriona the dippy journalist in the TV series Absolutely Fabulous. It was after writing her first novel, Losing It, that Helen set up the Comedy Women In Print prize to put funny women's writing on the map and help ensure the next generation wouldn't have to put up with the lack of recognition she endured. (Also, she was pissed off!)Now the woman Dawn French calls “the third funniest woman in the world” has written a hilarious and frequently painful memoir about surviving that swamp, Not That I'm Bitter. She tells truths, she names names and she gives herself an absolute hiding!Helen and I got together over a Zoom cuppa to discuss life as the lone woman on the 80s comedy circuit and why being a pioneer is all very well, but she'd rather have had mainstream success! She also talked about professional jealousy, not “being in the A team”, fear of authority, why she's spent her life on a diet (remember Limmits biscuits?!) And being tougher on herself than anyone else.* You can buy all the books mentioned in this podcast at The Shift bookshop on Bookshop.org, including Not That I'm Bitter by Helen Lederer and the book that inspired this podcast, The Shift: how I lost and found myself after 40 - and you can too, by me.* If you enjoyed this episode and you fancy buying me a coffee, pop over to my page on buymeacoffee.com• And if you'd like to support the work that goes into making this podcast and get a weekly newsletter plus loads more content including exclusive transcripts of the podcast, why not join The Shift community, come and have a look around at www.theshiftwithsambaker.substack.com• The Shift (on life after 40) with Sam Baker is created and hosted by Sam Baker and edited by Juliette Nicholls @ Pineapple Audio Production. Singer, songwriter, and guitarist Joe Samba just might be one of the nicest guys we've ever had the pleasure of “podcasting” with! Smack dab in the middle of his first headlining tour across the U.S., Joe carved some time out of his busy schedule to talk about his music which is an addicting combination of reggae, rock, pop, and soulful punk! So many things are taking off for this blossoming artist. In addition to headlining, he has just released a brand-new video for his song “Losing It” with The Elovaters … friends who he's played with on many occasions in the past. With his roots deeply planted in New Hampshire, Joe credits time spent in Key West as formative to building his presence and refining his sound; however much of his conversation was centered on his love for his family. What comes through clearly when you talk with him is his gratitude, love, and joy for his wife, baby, touring crew, and current musical situation. None of this is lost on him which is why he puts every ounce of energy and passion into every performance. You'll definitely want to tune in to our chat to be introduced to Joe Samba and his music. Once you do, you'll find yourself adding song after song to your playlists because they are just THAT GOOD!!!WEBSITESPOTIFYINSTAGRAM

Elle talks about the supposed oxymoron between transgender identities and spirituality or religion. She discusses her faith background (which was dominated by Seventh-Day Adventist Christianity), the ways in which queer people make sense of their faith, how her vocation as a Christian pastor interacted with her gender, and the ways in which she practices spirituality today. While this episode is Christian-centric because of Elle's background, it is not limited to that expression of religion. She references other traditions such as Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism. This week I speak with Charlene Brisbane. She is currently a member of Dare to Imagine Church under the pastorship of Rev. Kevin Johnson. At Dare to Imagine, she is involved in community service and serves as an iGroup (small group) leader. In 2022, Charlene became vice president of the non-profit organization Clothed N Strength, whose mission is to help women overcome barriers to success who have recently returned to society after being incarcerated or who have suffered trauma. She is also the creator of a podcast with her daughter Shelby called Garage Conversations with Char, via which she hopes to engage, inform and inspire listeners. Charlene has a career in the biopharmaceutical industry that spans over 34 years which includes positions of increasing responsibility at Johnson and Johnson, GSK, and Teva Pharmaceuticals, where she currently is a Senior Director in Project Leadership and Strategy in R&D. Charlene believes that her foundation was laid spiritually, as well as, professionally at Trinity United Methodist Church where she accepted Christ in her life at an early age and was baptized. At Trinity, she was Chairperson of the Administrative Council, a Certified Lay Speaker, and a Sunday school teacher, as well as a member of United Methodist Women and The Inspirational Choir. Trinity was the place where she was given encouragement, responsibility, and the challenge always to strive to do her best. One of Charlene's favorite scriptures is Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” She places her hope in God and acknowledges that all that she is is because of Him. We look at the life God has given Charlene, and even in the midst of the great loss of her husband, we see God working and providing for Char as a widow - The beautiful thread of God working is undeniable - You won't want to miss this episode you will be greatly encouraged!Dare to Imagine Church: https://d2ic.org/Garage Conversations with Char: https://garageconversationwithchar.com/Clothed N Strength: https://clothednstrength.org/Books referenced: Christians Get Depressed Too by David MurrayBroken Minds: Hope for Healing When You Feel Like You're "Losing It" by Steve & Robyn Bloem*Theme Music “Blessed time” by Ketsa
Which of us are the losers in our households, and which the finders?
Here's a bit about AI (artificial intelligence), technology, evolution, post-humanism, and what religion (Christianity specifically) probably needs to change in order to assist AI (and all of us) in learning values. //I mention Ilea Delio a couple of times in this episode. If you're interested in this subject matter, you should certainly check out her work, including “Re-Enchanting the Earth: Why AI Needs Religion.” Also, my stuff about amipotence can be found in Thomas Jay Oord's really helpful book “Pluriform Love.” I also reference “Nature Technology and the Sacred” by Bronislaw Szerszynski, “Religion in the Making” by Alfred North Whitehead, and “How We Became Post Human” by Catherine Hales in this episode. //Search for MidJourney on Discord to partner with AI to “create” your own images. // Don't forget to join me and my friend, Dr. Sheri Kling having a conversation at www.Patreon.com/jonathan_foster. You can find out more about Dr. Sheri at https://www.sherikling.com. I'm currently reading her book, “A Process Spirituality,” and enjoying it very much! //Music for today's show is a bunch of stuff from me and/or Landr.com as well as the theme song for this season which is called “Losing It” by Velveteen. Questions about parenting within the paradigm of uncontrolling love is the theme of this episode. It's a super important subject. I hope to bring a few ideas to the conversation, and a bit of my time with Ryan and Jess Lambros, but also point you to the full zoom dialogue I had with (as well as my conversation with Libby Tedder-Hugus) on my patreon page. Just search for www.Patreon.com/jonathan_foster. What all these young parents are talking about is important. I hope you'll check it out. -Ryan is a life coach with www.thetablecoach.com and working through his doctoral dissertation in open and relational theology and Jessica, LPC, is the owner and clinical director of Stories Counseling. www.storiescounseling.com. -This week's open and relational/process book I want to highlight is Rob Bell's “Everything is Spiritual.” It's true, Bell isn't necessarily an ORT theologian, however, this book as much or more than any other he has written, fits really well with ORT themes. It's my favorite Rob Bell writing. -Thanks everyone! Feel free to leave a review and/or share this with a friend. Meanwhile, don't forget to sign up for my newsletter at www.jonathanfosteronline.com. -The main music for this season's show is from an artist known as Velveteen. On this episode I respond to questions by going next level. That's right, I'm bringing in one of my mentors, the Dr. Thomas Jay Oord to answer questions about the bible, the validity of different religions, sexuality, and finding personal meaning. All you gotta do to hear the rest of the talk is to subscribe to my patreon page for as little as 3$ a month. What a deal! -To find out more about Tom, his books, his doctorate program, his blog, please check out www.thomasjayoord.com. -Feel free to leave a review on your podcasting platform, share the episode with a friend, and of course sign up for my newsletter at www.jonathanfosteronline.com. -The open and relational resource I want to highlight this week would have to be something by the aforementioned TJO, so I'm going with “Uncontrolling Love." It was a really helpful book for me and I've referenced many times over the past five years. -The main music for this season's show is from Velveteen and is called “Losing It." It comes to us by way of www.epidemicsound.com. Other samples and music are provided by me or stuff I found at www.Landr.com.
Episode SummaryAge is just a number, and it has NOTHING to do with your ability to start your fitness journey! On this episode of the Fit is Freedom Podcast, I'm joined with the amazing author and fitness guru Joni Grant. We discuss the importance of fitness as you age, what you should be training, and why you need to embrace the journey and love what you do. The excuse of “I'm too old to start” just doesn't hold any water. Joni herself, an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer, Functional Aging Specialist, and Kettlebell Coach, didn't even start thinking about improving her health and doing something about her aging until she was 58 years old! Since then, she has competed in powerlifting meets, learned to parkour, become a kettlebell master, and written her book, Train to Age. If You're Losing It, You Need to Train ItWe can't simply walk our way to better health if we're losing muscle mass as we age. It's important to find ways to incorporate strength training, endurance, and everything in between to keep up your fitness.Take note of your body. If you're realizing something is a struggle, it more than likely means that you'll need to train that particular part. For example, if you're slow to get out of the chair, build your lower body. It's amazing what we can improve by targeting our weaknesses and making them strong, no matter our age! Train for What You Want to DoNot only should you train if you're noticing a weakness, you should also focus your training for what you want to do in life. Joni has trained clients with a wide variety of aspirations and goals. Her clients have goals ranging from simply wanting to pick up a grandchild or being able to easily get out of a chair, to climbing Machu Picchu. Have a goal in mind as a motivator! LINKSJoni Grant Website and BlogJoni Grant InstagramJoni Grant's book - Train to AgeJoni Grant Facebook GroupLiving Fit Workouts Find Things You LoveIt's important to train in a variety of ways, but Joni Grant and I discuss the importance of finding ways to train that you actually enjoy! Hate strength training with free weights? Try a kettlebell! Hate running? Try hiking or riding the stationary bike! Improving your health doesn't have to be a drag. If it's not fun, it's not sustainable. Find something to love and you'll start to see results that you love! How to Get StartedNo matter your age, the best time to start is NOW if you want to improve your health and fitness! Figuring out where to begin can be overwhelming, so here are the three top jumping off points according to Joni…Find a TrainerEspecially for the inexperienced or people who are a little rusty when it comes to working out, the best way to get started is to find a quality trainer that works for you. They can help you develop a customized plan. They will guide you to building the muscle and mobility that you desire while teaching you the ropes of fitness. Take a ClassIf you can't find a trainer you like or you'd prefer a more social setting, try taking a class! Local senior and civic centers will typically offer a variety of classes. Look for one that sounds interesting and just dive right in! Be Brave When you're putting yourself out there, have courage. Be brave and take that first step towards a better life and a better you!
I think the truest thing we can say of God is that S(H)e is love. And the fundamental characteristic of love? It's consent. It feels week, but I suspect it's the weakness that makes it strong. The weakness of consent is the strength of love. And it's the thing that can help us move from a negative to positive dominant mindset in the church. -Some resources I reference on this episode: Mary Douglas - Purity and Danger: An Analysis of Concepts of Pollution and Taboo, https://www.amazon.com/Purity-Danger-Routledge-Classics-93/dp/0415289955 Richard Beck - Unclean: Meditations on Purity, Hospitality, and Mortality. On this episode I respond to questions about moving forward with the church. One young person put it this way: “What is even the point? Given how many people have been hurt, is church even helpful any longer?” So I give some open and relational theological thoughts, some stuff that's been influenced by those who are influenced by Bill Hegel, some stuff to rethink omnipotence, mystery, and the misguided but oft-parroted phrase, “everything happens for a reason.” I also talk a bit about my own personal journey of trying to figure out theology and ecclesiology (i.e., church) after we went through the intense event of losing our daughter. Yeah, that event pretty much colors everything in my life. -And then I take the discussion about church further with my friend, the Rev. Libby Teder Hugus. She's a pastor at https://www.thetablecasper.org in Casper, WY. (Sorry, I think I said Idaho in the podcast!) There's a couple minutes with Libby here, but then I talk longer with her on my patreon page which is at… - https://www.patreon.com/jonathan_foster For as little as three bucks a month you can get access to that interview, others, and a whole bunch of other helpful stuff. So, check it out. -Feel free to leave a review, share it with a friend, and of course sign up for my newsletter at www.jonathanfosteronline.com. -The open and relational resource I want to highlight this week is “Face of the Deep” by Catherine Keller. Dr. Catherine might label herself more process than ORT, and for sure, she would call herself a feminist theologian, but either way, I love this book and all her writing. She says more in one sentence than I do in a whole chapter. -The main music for this season's show is from Velveteen and is called “Losing It." It comes to us by way of www.epidemicsound.com, though, strangely, I didn't use it on this episode. Instead, I went with some stuff I made and/or downloaded at www.Landr.com.
Signals was Rush's follow up to their biggest selling album Moving Pictures but it was not Moving Pictures II. Off the success of Moving Pictures and the tour, Rush were emboldened to further experiment with technology to evolve their sound to the 80s. Drummer & Lyricist Neil Peart started to draw inspiration from his own journey and the plight of those in the world around him. Geddy and Alex even chipped in on some lyrics. But not all fans love the synthesizers and technology from the last great power trio - many fans are turned off by their 80s output. This was a time of experimentation and new directions for the band which would define their 80s sound. Subdivisions examines the plight of the suburban teenager, New World Man as the man at the height of his power, Losing It as an old man past his prime - quite a journey from Neil Peart. Released September 9. 1982, we hold this record in high esteem within the Rush catalog and this is our review for the 40th Anniversary of Signals - Rush. Today I sit down Dr. A. J. Swoboda, Assistant Professor of Biblical Studies and World Christianity at Bushnell University in Eugene, OR. I was first introduced to Dr. Swoboda through a recommendation for his book, After Doubt: How to Question Your Faith without Losing It. I read through his book and used it for a Wednesday PM Bible study, and loved it. His earnestness in dealing with the issues of #faith #deconstruction while remaining connected to a #church were a breath of fresh air, and his even-handed approach leaves readers feeling both comforted and convicted. To contact Dr. Swoboda, you can find his faculty page here: https://www.bushnell.edu/faculty/a-j-swoboda/For more information on Swoboda's books, see: https://www.ajswobodawrites.com/
If you're like many people, there's a good chance that your weight and calorie considerations play a big role in food decisions. Intuitive eating, an Internet-famous movement all about healing people's relationships with food, says it shouldn't be that way. The final episode of “Losing It” explores what it means to eat intuitively, and asks the question: Does it work? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
What if the dangers of being heavy have been overstated, or misrepresented? Companies like WW, formerly Weight Watchers, and Noom, which makes a popular weight-loss app, have a new pitch for would-be members: that they can lose weight with a holistic lifestyle approach instead of dieting. This new episode of podcast series “Losing It” explores why the backlash against dieting is happening, how companies are getting in on the action, and whether we're actually over dieting and losing weight. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Polls show that roughly a quarter of Americans are dieting. That's despite research showing that very few people succeed in losing weight and keeping it off over time. A new Bloomberg podcast, Losing It, investigates the myths and realities of nutritional science and the power of the dieting industry. Forum talks with the podcast creators about the invention of the calorie as a weight loss tool, the branding of the South Beach Diet, and the complex relationship between health and the numbers on the scale. Guests: Kristen V. Brown, editor, Losing It - a Bloomberg podcast Emma Court, host and reporter, Losing It - a Bloomberg podcast
The South Beach Diet became an incredible success in the early 2000s, blowing past booksellers' expectations, dominating the cultural moment and becoming a huge business. In the third episode of Losing It, we fly down to glamorous Miami to tell the story of the South Beach Diet and break down the formula for a hit diet. For much of human history, we've turned to diets to lose weight and improve our health. But it's mostly been in vain. Because no matter how much the number on the scale drops, chances are the weight will come back. That's just what the science says. But when it comes to our weight, the facts don't seem to make much difference. Dieting still has a grip on all of us. Losing It, a new series from Bloomberg's Prognosis, investigates how we got weight loss so wrong — and whether there's a better way forward. Losing It launches on July 12.
