Across the Caribbean, governments are demanding that former colonial powers, like the U.K., France and The Netherlands, pay reparations for their involvement in slavery. Anselm Gibbs, a BBC reporter in Trinidad and Tobago, explains what forms reparations can take and describes the specific demands that Caribbean nations have put forward. We also hear from Akeem Chandler-Prescod, a member of the Barbados National Task Force on Reparations and his country's Poet of The Year. He describes how the legacy of slavery still impacts people in Barbados centuries later and how the racial justice movement in the United States has inspired many Bajans to join the reparations movement. Many European governments have refused to pay reparations. However, some individual families with historic links to slavery have decided to make payments. Laura Trevelyan, a former BBC reporter, explains why her family donated £100,000 ($120,000) to establish a community fund for economic development on the impoverished island of Grenada. A BAJAN STORYBOARDING IS CULTURE © 2023 ISBN 978-976-9702021-3-4 .mp3Now that I have contextualise the delightful variations among birds especially the Bajan Peawhistler which certainly fascinated my intellectual curiosity I was inspired to employ this storyboard as a tool since in this conversation it comported itself as a lens which was used to tell and  show my story of the Bajan Peawhistler in flight  in this podcast titled A Bajan Storyboarding  Culture © 2023 Throughout this research as a student of film I will confess that storyboarding is an incredibly powerful tool for visual communication. This is one of the reason  why I employed  storyboard which acts like a  text because it  provides scope for Bajans and by extension all geoglobal citizens  especially an Ornithologists who like me occupied the precincts of  academia. In this space  I plan out in my studies and researched session, and can still keep my digitised visuals  in sight This view is corroborated the Seattle Times In addition, according to Wikipedia .org there is One advantage of using storyboards is that it allows (in film and business) the user to experiment with changes in the storyline to evoke stronger reaction or interest. Flashbacks, for instance, are often the result of sorting storyboards out of chronological order to help build suspense and interest.Another benefit of storyboarding is that the production can plan the movie in advance. In this step, things like the type of camera shot, angle, and blocking of characters are decided. The process of visual thinking and planning allows a group of people to brainstorm together, placing their ideas on storyboards and then arranging the storyboards on the wall. This fosters more ideas and generates consensus inside the group. “At the end of this academic discourse I have grown  to appreciate an Ornithologists , and develop an interest in Ethnography and Anthropology as a Bajan Author, License Cultural Media Practitioner, Researcher, and Documentarian as a Global citizen who is presently occupying the precincts of  academia as a Doctoral Student . What is uniquely interesting my findings  usually  illuminated my knowledge of the existence in thinking and  excited my intellectual passions during navigational process of  this research. Importantly I digitised the visuals as captured and framed with my lenses as a Student of film in sight on a storyboard.Through my lenses as an Bajan Author, License Cultural Media Arts Practitioner, Researcher, and Documentarian I concur with Encyclopedia Britannica bird, (class Aves), any of the more than 10,400 living species unique in having feathers, the major characteristic that distinguishes them from all other animals was captured and framed in 11 Chapters in publication 300 in  A Bajan Storyboarding  Culture © 2023 ISBN 978-976-9702021-3-4 and ventilated in Podcast 169. PODCAST 169 A Bajan Storyboarding  Culture © 2023 ISBN 978-976-9702021-3-4  was filmed by  William Anderson Gittens of Devgro Media Arts Services®2015Pea Whistler Thorsby located in St.Michael Barbados. Special thanks to the Creator for his guidance and choosing me as a conduit to express the creative gifts he has given me and my late parents Charles and Ira Gittens.  Thanks to those who assisted me along this journey namely my Beloved wife Magnola Gittens, my Brothers Shurland, Charles, Ricardo, Arnott, Stephen, Sisters Emerald, Marcella, Cheryl, Cousins Joy Mayers, Kevin and Ernest Mayers, Donna Archer, Avis Dyer, Jackie Clarke, Uncles Clifford, Leonard Mayers, David Bruce, Collin Rock. Support the show

A Bajans Silhouette is an abstract conversation which captures darkened shapes and outlines of something while a shadow on the other hand is the darkened shape that occurs because of a light source being blocked seemingly underpins A Bajans Silhouette. This nuance is not only exclusive  to Barbados' cultural geographical space. But silhouette  occupies the precincts of every culture simply because  a silhouette is a shadow.  Equally, regardless of the outline or shape of the shadow is the edge of the visible object, or the image of the visible object, if we are thinking of shadows cast onto surfaces according to springer.com.The afore said implies regardless of ethnicity, orientation, or the geographical space we occupy silhouette is practice  consciously and unconsciously .It is because of the aforesaid philosophical nuances I was motivated  to capture Bajans Silhouettes  © 2022 ISBN978-976-9689-3-8-1 in  13 chapters and verbalise in ISBN978-976-9689-3-8-1 and  Podcast 158.Support the show

This country became a republic last year and has elected two proud Bajan women to lead as prime minister and president. This country is as beautiful physically as its people are internally. I met Raven Gill in March 2020 at the Equality and Justice Alliance convening in Saint Lucia, just before our countries went into their respective lockdowns. We became fast friends. She is an outspoken and forthright activist, who does essential and life-sustaining work with trans and non binary Bajans through the civil society organisation she founded, Butterfly Barbados. In our conversation, we explore how she and the communities she fights for have navigated the challenges of Covid-19, the toll the weight of responsibility has taken on her over the past two years and how the positive image Barbados has earned on the global stage recently obscures some harsher realities for trans and non-binary Bajans. And she shares some of her more personal reckonings, including learning what she needs from her friendships, the chosen family she has gathered around her, and what — or rather who — is bringing her joy. About Raven Gill Raven Gill is a community organiser and activist and the founder of Butterfly Barbados, which advocates for transgender and non-binary Bajans. She works with the Barbados Family Planning Association, the Ministry of Health and with organisations regionally and internationally in order to redress and address the erasure of issues impacting trans people. Barbados is one of 54 countries in the Commonwealth, many of which still have colonial-era laws on their books that enable the discrimination against and persecution of LGBTQ people. And Butterfly Barbados is a member of The Commonwealth Equality Network is a network of 60-plus organisations working to uphold the human rights of LGBTQ people across the Commonwealth. UK-based charity Kaleidoscope Trust is host to the Network's Secretariat. I love introducing you to people that I believe are truly making a difference out there in the world, who can inspire you to take action in your own life, or help you to discover paths to impact that you may not have considered possible for yourself before. Julie Turney is one of those inspiring people, and I hope that you’ll listen closely as she shares how she’s taken intentional steps to grow her career and her network, and also to increase her impact. And she’s just getting started. Julie describes herself as a People Champion, and she’s also a woman of many talents, who wears many different hats. And she’s accomplished all of these things - and more - while living on the tiny - and beautiful island of Barbados. Since I first connected with Julie a little over a year ago, I’ve been super impressed with the growth that I’ve seen in her personally and professionally as she’s continued to expand her network, and has challenged herself to say “yes” to sometimes hard and scary things - all while continuing to work full time, and during a global pandemic that has isolated her and her fellow Bajans from the rest of the world. I think that you’ll find some inspiration in Julie’s approach to growth and creating an impact in the world, and if you can get past the first few minutes of me fangirling out, and grilling her about Rihanna’s whereabouts on the island, you’ll be glad you did.   Topics Discussed In This Episode: The surprising answer to the obvious question: Is Julie friends with Rihanna? What Julie loves about HR, and why she feels that now - during a global pandemic - is the most exciting time to work in the profession. What breaks Julie’s heart about how HR others sometimes perceive HR. The important role that mentors have played in Julie’s life, and why she chose to actively mentor others in order to grow her own career. How Julie originally connected with DisruptHR, and her plans are to expand DisruptHR events throughout the Caribbean. Julie’s advice for people who make excuses about why they are being held back from achieving their dreams. The surprising online Influencer that sparked Julie to take action, and become a podcaster, DisruptHR organizer, Agile trainer, and HR Coach - in addition to continuing to work in a full-time job. The power of LinkedIn for making connections that can change your life.   People & Resources Mentioned In This episode: HR at Heart / Julie Turney Julie Turney LinkedIn Julie Turney Twitter Julie Turney Facebook HR Sound Off podcast Confessions of an HR Pro: Stories of Defeat and Triumph by Julie Turney DisruptHR Barbados DisruptHR Caribbean HR Summer School Ben Eubanks DisruptHR London Katrina Collier DisruptHR Cayman Chris Bailey Meighan Newhouse Gary Vaynerchuk Hacking HR Enrique Rubio Erich Kurschat Tracie Sponenberg Steve Browne Tim Sackett Year of Yes: How to Dance It Out, Stand In the Sun and Be Your Own Person by Shonda Rhimes Ryan Holtz   Connect with Jennifer:   Send her a message [https://jennifermcclure.net/contact/] On LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/jennifermcclure On Twitter: https://twitter.com/JenniferMcClure On Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jennifer_mcclure/ On Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/JenniferMcClureSpeaker   *** EPISODE CREDITS: If you like this podcast and are thinking of creating your own, consider talking to my producer, Danny Ozment.   He helps thought leaders, influencers, executives, HR professionals, recruiters, lawyers, realtors, bloggers, coaches, and authors create, launch, and produce podcasts that grow their business and impact the world. *** Find out more at https://emeraldcitypro.com

This was a really terrible recording that I tried to dial in. Its really poor quality and I tried to add some sugar to the sound. This event was a celebration of the Birthday of his holiness Shri Shri Ravi Shankar. The idea was presented at the beginning of the Satsang to have Lata read between the Bajans from Banus book about her life with her brother Shri Shri Ravi Shankar. I had spontaneously hit record on my phone to record a song Kurt was playing but forgot to shut off the recording. I'm so grateful it was left on. I think this style of event is very powerful. SO even with the poor quality, I had to try to fix it. Next time a mixer and digital recorder. off a PA.
