Welcome to this week's edition of Next on the Tee! I hope your week has been filled with reasons to smile. If not, I'm sending some positive vibes your way and hoping to bring you a little mental relief over the next couple of hours. This week's episode, to quote Billy Joel, is in a New York State of Mind. All of my guests hail from New York, and we take a way-too-early look ahead to the Ryder Cup, including a discussion about Keegan Bradley with his former college coach at St. John's. Leading things off, our resident Director of Instruction, Tom Patri, joins me to dive into Ryder Cup predictions and early concerns. With the event set to take place at Bethpage State Park, a course that Tom grew up near, he'll give us insights on the layout and playing conditions. Plus, with six of the first seven winners on the PGA Tour this season being non-U.S. players, is it too soon to worry about Team USA's chances? Maybe it's time to start sending some positive energy out to them. Tom and I will break it all down in the first segment. Following TP, I have the privilege of welcoming back Frank Darby, former St. John's Men's Head Golf Coach and Co-Host of the On Course show on SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio. Frank, another New York native, has served as a rules official and has been involved in setting up tournaments at Bethpage, giving him firsthand knowledge of what players can expect at the Ryder Cup. And with Keegan Bradley—one of his former players—hoping to make the team as a player, Frank shares his perspective on if that's a good idea. We'll also get into Tiger Woods' potential move to the Champions Tour and what the PGA Tour should do about slow play. Frank is fantastic and has great golf insights!

To find out how Win walk and about Ekso go to http://www.bridgingbionics.org/, or email Amanda Boxtel atamanda@bridgingbionics.org.   On Butterflies of Wisdom today, Best-Selling Author, Win Kelly Charles and Juan Carlos Gill welcomes Gianna Rojas. For Gianna of Oak Ridge, NJ, no obstacle is too daunting to tackle. Having been born without fingers on her left hand, Gianna is known as the “one-handed lady golfer.” She strives to bring attention to golfing success stories of people with physical challenges, and by sharing her story she hopes to inspire others who may question their abilities. Gianna began playing golf nearly ten years ago as a way to experience the game her husband deeply loves. After learning how to adapt her swing to her disability, Gianna developed a passion for golf and recognized an opportunity to advocate for others through her participation in the sport. At a young age, Gianna was the poster child for the March of Dimes, and today she works for the organization as the Community Director in their Parsippany, NJ, office. Also, she is a member of numerous women- and golf-focused charitable organizations, and recently founded Adaptive Golfers, a nonprofit that brings the game of golf to people with different abilities. Gianna will celebrate her 4th year as a volunteer at The Barclays when the PGA TOUR tournament is held at the Black Course at Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, NY, from August 23-28, 2016. During the tournament, Gianna will assist as a course marshal at hole 10, a spot she looks forward to returning to each year, as she has developed friendships with the volunteers who are assigned to her area.  As a marshal, her primary role is crowd control. Also, she will help keep the pace of play up and respond to golfers' questions or concerns. “Volunteering with the PGA TOUR is exciting because it allows an up-close look at professional golf, but even more importantly, it is rewarding because it presents an opportunity to support charity and make lasting friendships,” said Gianna. “As a volunteer, I have the chance to make someone’s experience memorable, and that could be a player, a fan, another volunteer or staff member. I feel it is a privilege to share in the experience.” So, when Gianna learned of an opportunity to enhance her tournament experience and support charity through the PGA TOUR Volunteer Challenge, sponsored by Myrbetriq® (mirabegron), she jumped at the chance to participate. Tournament volunteers, like Gianna, are participating in the Volunteer Challenge, a friendly competition designed to raise funds for non-profit organizations while recognizing the talent, passion and commitment of PGA TOUR volunteers in communities nationwide. The Barclays is one of 16 tournaments hosting the Volunteer Challenge during the 2016 season. As part of the program, volunteers ask friends and family to vote at PGATOUR.com/volunteers, and when voting ends on August 27, the volunteer with the most votes will earn the chance to present a $10,000 check to The First Tee of Metropolitan New York. In addition, $5,000 will be donated to the winner’s charity of choice (Gianna would designate the funds to March of Dimes), and top-ranking tournaments can earn additional charitable funds based on the total number of votes earned collectively by volunteers and the tournament – up to $60,000.
