Presentatie: Robert Denneman

Will Doctor gets you ready for the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black this week. Will covers every golfer in the field for the Americans and Europeans. Will dives deep into who and what he thinks is the best strategy for your betting approach. Will Doctor (0:15 - 0:28) opened the show welcoming listeners with energy and promising sharp Ryder Cup insights. Will Doctor (0:33 - 55:37) recapped the fiery ceremonies, noting Luke Donald's criticism of U.S. systems, Keegan Bradley's Farmingdale roots, and Kathy Hochul's repeated boos. He framed the 45th Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black as electric and immediately criticized the U.S. for starting with alternate shot, pointing out Europe's 51–37 advantage in that format since 2002 and calling the decision “an act of insanity.” He explained the point structure—28 total, Europe needs 14 to retain, U.S. 14.5 to win back—and emphasized Europe's chemistry, with 11 of 12 returning from 2023, compared to a U.S. side rusty after limited recent play. He highlighted the strength of the American roster with Scheffler, Henley, Schauffele, and Thomas but reminded listeners that past U.S. teams with world number ones still lost. Missing veterans like Spieth and Koepka left the squad without seasoned leaders. On Bethpage, he called it a “1936 masterpiece” demanding precision, but said rain-softened conditions and trimmed rough may neutralize its difficulty. On players, Scheffler was praised as “the best long iron player in the game,” likely paired with Henley. J.J. Spaun was credited for elite irons and big-moment poise. Schauffele's experience (14-8-0) was countered by wild driving, while Henley's consistency made him invaluable despite lacking distance. Harris English's poor irons raised doubts, while DeChambeau was seen as a potential difference-maker if paired with a “marksman” like Spaun or Griffin rather than Thomas, whose ball striking woes made him “statistically the worst player on this American team.” Morikawa's poor prep suggested limited use, while rookies Griffin and Cameron Young were urged as sparks, with Young called the “hometown kid” who should be unleashed early. Cantlay's 15-6-1 team record earned a call to play every session, and Burns's putting strength positioned him as a best-ball asset. On Europe, McIlroy was expected to thrive on softened fairways and pair again with Fleetwood, whose form and partnership history made him a projected star. McIntyre was labeled a weak link due to shaky ball striking, while Rose was respected for veteran leadership but doubted for heavy use. Rasmus Højgaard was called a “sneaky weapon” in four-ball, Hatton reliable in foursomes with Rahm but risky in singles, and Lowry and Straka limited by putting and approach struggles. In contrast, Åberg and Hovland were described as statistical machines, with Hovland “a major problem” for the U.S. Fitzpatrick, historically poor at Ryder Cups, was forecasted to break through thanks to sharp recent form. Rahm's 6-3-3 Ryder Cup record and clutch history, including a win over Tiger in 2018, reinforced his role as Europe's closer. Will ended without picking an outright winner, instead backing Scheffler as top U.S. scorer (+275) and Europe in foursomes (+135), citing their 7-1 domination in 2023. He concluded that softened Bethpage conditions tilt slightly toward Europe but overall make the 2025 Ryder Cup too close to call Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

On deck: (6:40) A quick housekeeping note as I'll release my latest vlog on the YouTube channel, reliving and remembering Shea Stadium. If you've watched my video regarding the old Yankee Stadium, then you'll definitely love this one. Please show the channel some love by subscribing, like and leave a comment. I'd really appreciate it. (7:42) How have the Tigers fallen from AL powerhouse to scratching and clawing just to qualify for the MLB playoffs? While the Mets are doing the same in the NL with just four games to go? I'll unpack their plights and will they survive to see another postseason? Are the Yankees going to end up winning the AL East? Let the drama begins as the final weekend of the MLB season is almost here. (35:18) NFL Week 4 has excellent games in every window (PHI-TB at 1pm, BAL-KC at 4:25 & GB-DAL at 8:20) with the first international game set at 9:30am ET (MIN-PIT), but not much else. Also, a change at QB in NY has the Jaxson Dart era commencing earlier than expected. Is this a panic move from the head coach, Brian Daboll? (47:58) College football has three big games upcoming, but why is Alabama-Georgia and Oregon-Penn State on simultaneously in primetime? (51:30) The WNBA playoffs have been entertaining to date. Now you have the Phoenix Mercury making it a series against the heavily favored Minnesota Lynx, tied at 1-1. Plus, how can you justify firing a head coach not even one year removed from winning at title. That's what the Liberty did to Sandy Brondello. I also squeeze in an NBA point on Fred VanVleet tearing his ACL and what that does for the Houston Rockets this season? (1:00:43) A highly anticipated Ryder Cup is on the docket this weekend out at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, NY. I'll preview how close this golf tournament could be and who has the upper hand heading into the match beginning Friday. And MUCH MORE in between. //The Wire//2300Z September 24, 2025////ROUTINE////BLUF: SNIPER ATTACK REPORTED AT ICE FACILITY IN DALLAS. SHOOTING REPORTED AT NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE. MULTIPLE ACTIVIST GROUPS CONTINUE TO URGE VIOLENT ATTACKS.// -----BEGIN TEARLINE------HomeFront-Texas: At approximately 06:40 this morning the ICE detention facility on North Stemmons Freeway was targeted by a sniper, who engaged targets from the roof of a two-story office building directly west of the ICE facility. No ICE agents were hurt during the attack, but 1x detainee was killed, and 2x others were wounded, both of which remain in critical condition. The shooter has been identified as Joshua Jahn, who was found deceased on the roof of the office building.Nevada: This afternoon a shooting was reported at Nellis Air Force Base, which resulted in Security Forces shooting one individual. Local authorities state that a man approached the main gate firing a weapon, before being challenged and subsequently shot by base security. The individual survived the engagement, and was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for a non-life-threatening wound to his arm. No word yet on the suspect's name, and no base personnel were wounded during the engagement.-----END TEARLINE-----Analyst Comments: Around the nation, various armed groups have made increasingly more public attempts to organize and plan operations. This afternoon locals observed flyers being placed around Georgetown to advertise the John Brown Gun Club, a far-left armed militant organization directly tied to ANTIFA and the attempted bombing of an ICE detention facility in 2019.Regarding ANTIFA, various daily riots and civil unrest continues in the usual strongholds of Seattle and Portland, with smaller demonstrations and protests taking place at various places around the country. In Eugene, Oregon a small group of ANTIFA members attempted to besiege the ICE facility before several arrests were made.Separately, in New York threats to a Presidential visit to Farmingdale have come to light from the 50501 movement, which is organizing "protests" to target President Trump during the Ryder Cup event that he is scheduled to attend on Friday. Flyers have been posted sporting the typical thinly-veiled rhetoric that is extremely common among far-left activist groups, with one flyer announcing "protest" times by using the phrase "Early bird gets the Trump".The 50501 movement is a self-described anti-Trump political movement, most of which involves violent rhetoric that has expanded to include counter-ICE targeting efforts. Even as recently as a few days ago, this group was openly and clearly posting calls to shoot ICE agents on Reddit, with no hint of any opposition to their attack planning being conducted in the open.In Dallas, the FBI released an image of a stripper clip found at the sniper's position, which featured the words "Anti-ICE" written on at least one of the bullets. Consequently, it's very likely that this individual was attempting to target ICE agents arriving for work, randomly shooting into the building at an unmarked van that was attempting to enter the facility through the sallyport to the rear of the building. Instead of successfully hitting ICE agents, the shooter fired blindly into the structure, and accidentally shot three detainees who were being transported inside the van.Sometimes, malign actors come about (or are activated) to conduct attacks for reasons that are not immediately discernible (though usually residing in the general realm of mental illness). Regarding this case however, the general motive is quite clear; the bullet holes in the facility don't leave much room for doubt. Shooting up an ICE office with "Anti-ICE" written on the bullets is about as clear of a motive as is possible to convey. Despite this, there will be endless speculation regarding most of these type

The All Local Afternoon Update for Friday, July 25 2025
Chances are that your local public library has a local history librarian who oversees a rich collection of images, artifacts, and information about your community. Today we highlight and celebrate one of this unique group - Natalie Korsavidis. She is the local history librarian at Farmingdale Public Library in Nassau (and a little bit of Suffolk) County. Natalie walks us through how she became a local history librarian and the collection she oversees at the library. From this treasure trove she can tell the story of the early days when the area was known as Hardscrabble, through the years of agricultural development, to the heyday of aviation giants like Grumman, Fairchild, Republic, and Liberty. You'll also hear how she engages with the community and about the two bygone businesses that never fail to bring a smile to Farmingdalers (hint: Stern's Pickles is one). Nassau County Supreme Court Judge Robert A. McDonald has handed down a 25-years-to-life sentence to 30-year-old Michael Owen for the 2020 slaying of his estranged wife, 27-year-old Kelly Owen, who was pregnant at the time. The verdict came after a Nassau County jury convicted Owen on one count of second-degree murder in July 2023. Authorities revealed that Michael and Kelly Owen, who had married in 2013 and separated in March 2018, continued a physical relationship. However, their interactions turned violent, leading to their eventual separation. The situation escalated when Kelly informed Michael about her pregnancy with their second child. Facing financial troubles and involved in a new relationship, Michael Owen expressed his reluctance to have another child and, specifically, did not want to bear the financial burden of the new baby's medical insurance. Determined to avoid these responsibilities, he drove to Kelly's apartment on January 15, 2020, with the intention of killing her. Kelly Owen, a nursing student and mother to a 6-year-old son shared with Michael, was found dead in her Farmingdale apartment later that day. The autopsy revealed that she had been strangled to death with a "rope-like object" and was in the early stages of pregnancy. Nassau police Det. Lt. Stephen Fitzpatrick stated, "He did not want this child. He did not want to give her medical insurance. He had this new relationship he was involved in, and he was in a bad position." Surveillance footage placed Michael Owen in the victim's neighborhood around the time of her death, where he had deliberately made his cellphone location undetectable. Despite attempts to conceal his presence, authorities recovered Owen's DNA from the area around the victim's neck. Following his arrest later that month, Michael Owen faced charges of murder, and the recent sentencing ensures he will spend 25 years to life in a state correctional facility. Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly expressed sympathy for Kelly's family, stating, "Michael Owen stole those dreams, and now he will pay for his crimes in prison. Our thoughts remain with Kelly's family as they continue to mourn her loss." Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE?
