Why would someone walk away from a lucrative, 15-year career in software engineering? For Jeffrey Allen, it came down to one thing: learning to prioritize the "spirit mind" over the "material mind.” That perspective shift gave him the inner clarity—and the bravery and courage—to finally move into a life and career of deeper purpose. Jeffrey is a spiritual teacher and energy healer whose work has empowered thousands of people, through Mindvalley's Healing Programs and through his own courses, trainings and years of individual and group work with thousands of people around the globe. His mission is to make access to our higher consciousness and to energy healing practices available to all—helping people release pain, deepen relationships, and live with genuine purpose. Alongside his wife, Hisami, he co-created Awakening Your Spirit Mind, a five‑week online training designed to help people reconnect with their true essence, tune into their connected consciousness beyond logic, and live more from joy and inner wisdom. Today, we weave together themes of career, leadership, personal growth, and performance as well as deep healing and growth, in a discussion about making the brave leap to deeper purpose in our lives and work. Jeffrey details his own transition from a successful 15-year career as a software engineer to a renowned energy healer and teacher - a move propelled by a “visceral” feeling of emptiness despite great outward success. He urges us to heed our inner guidance, observing that we're in an energy climate today where people are becoming more authentic, so our desires and priorities naturally evolve through growth and change. The discussion underscores the power of recognizing our two minds: the material mind, rooted in logic yet tangled with emotion and regret, and the spirit mind, which offers universal wisdom, a peaceful presence, and love. Jeffrey goes on to explain the difference between material mind spirituality and spirit mind, why our beliefs should be based on our experiences, and details a three-step (plus a bonus fourth) process to shift out of your material mind. Join this riveting conversation to discover how you, too, can take a brave leap to fully live your life purpose. Send us a textWhat does it take to leave behind a successful 20-year career and start completely fresh in a new industry? In this candid conversation, Dave Tindall of DLI Mortgages reveals the reality of transitioning from automotive marketing to establishing his own mortgage brokerage at age 38.Dave shares the moment he decided to make this life-changing move—how he methodically assessed his strengths and desires on a blank piece of paper, and why mortgage broking emerged as his path forward. With refreshing honesty, he discusses the initial fear, the unwavering support from his now-wife, and that strange first Monday morning sitting at his desk with no boss and no corporate structure to fall back on.For anyone contemplating a similar leap, Dave's insights about "employee guilt" are particularly valuable. He describes the six-month journey to overcome the ingrained belief that working hard means putting in specific hours rather than focusing on results. His marketing background gave him advantages in building his brand, though stepping in front of the camera for social media content required pushing past significant discomfort. What resonates most powerfully is Dave's reflection on finding greater fulfillment in helping people achieve homeownership than he ever experienced in his previous career. The moment when clients receive their keys and his role in making that life-changing event happen provides satisfaction that selling luxury cars never could.Looking ahead, Dave has intentionally chosen to build a business that prioritizes lifestyle and values over rapid expansion. His plans to create a husband-and-wife team reflect a thoughtful approach to success on his own terms.Whether you're considering a career change, thinking about self-employment, or simply curious about the mortgage industry, this episode offers valuable wisdom about having the courage to make brave choices and defining success in ways that truly matter to you.Looking for one to one mentoring, visit my website to see how it works craigskelton.co.uk #mortgagebroker #mortgagebrokers #mortgagebrokeruk #mortgagebrokercoaching #coaching #mortgagebrokerage #mortgagebrokerbusiness #mortgagebrokermarketing #mortgagebrokertips #mortgageadvisor #mortgageadviser #mortgagecoach #businesscoaching #successmentoring #selfemployed ...

In this episode host Doreen Cumberford interviews Iliana Genkova, who shares her remarkable journey from Bulgaria to building a life across multiple continents. Starting with just $200 in her pocket, Iliana moved to the United States in 1999, marking the beginning of her global adventures. Her story demonstrates how sometimes the best plans are a mix of preparation and embracing the unknown. After securing U.S. citizenship, Iliana's journey took her to the UK, where she learned valuable lessons about expectations versus reality. Despite having what looked perfect on paper - a prestigious job with diplomatic advantages - she discovered that having a sense of a good cultural fit was equally important. This experience taught her about the complexities of cultural adaptation and led her to the Netherlands, where she found a better personal and professional match, though it too would eventually come to an end due to visa constraints.Through her experiences living in various countries, including Australia, Iliana developed crucial insights about becoming one's own best friend and maintaining authenticity without arrogance. She emphasizes the importance of knowing your "why" when moving to a new place and letting that motivation guide you through both challenges and triumphs. Her journey exemplifies how global living can transform someone into a more patient, accepting, and culturally aware individual.Find Iliana here:http://www.olivemaps.com http://www.iliana.ushttps://www.instagram.com/ilianagenkova/We are a small independent podcast, we respectfully request that you support us if you have gained some information or inspiration from our endeavours. Thanks for lending us your ears!https://www.nomadicdiariespodcast.com/https://www.amazon.com/Life-Camel-Lane-Embrace-Adventure/dp/0578607352 www.doreenmcumberford.comSupport the showHome is Where Your Story Crosses Borders! We aim to inspire expat solutions, by helping you navigate global living with Confidence.

Today we're busting bravery myths, starting with the idea that we can like and trust ourselves when we get “there.” “There” meaning that dream job, selling X number of copies of your book, or moving into your dream home. The truth is, the future isn't real. We can't touch it, hear it, see it, smell it, or feel it. We can access it only through our imagination, which is a dangerous water to tread. And because the future isn't real, telling ourselves that we're going to like and trust ourselves in the future is, to the truest meaning of the word, pointless. On the contrary, when we practice liking and trusting ourselves right now, we start showing up in new ways. We take our “IT” factors to the highest power. We form lifetime connections. We take intentional creative risks. We propel ourselves to our next best thing. Your future self doesn't need your bravery, your right now self does. Listen to Erin and guest Heather Vickery discuss what it means to make the brave leap in your everyday life. ICYMI – Your Post-Episode Homework: Think about your own story with bravery. What is a time that you have shown up for yourself? You felt strong, you felt empowered, and you did something that you did not think that you could do. You got comfortable with the uncomfortable. Think about that story today. Then give yourself a big high five or a hug because my friends, bravery is boss. Bravery is leading the way for our teams, our families, our friends. Bravery is showing up for you. Connect with Heather Vickery: Heather's Instagram Heather's LinkedIn The Brave Files Podcast Was it Chance? Expertise Reimagined & Marc Cordon present The Golden Mic Podcast Ep. 79 The Brace Leap Sideways w/ Cathlyn Melvin https://play.goldenmicpodcast.com/0079_melvin Surrounded by textbooks and highlighters and notebooks, Cathlyn thought about why continuing through law school was getting increasingly more demanding. Yes, the pursuit of any terminal degree does come with an incredible amount of challenge. This, though, was something was different. This was something that she could feel to her essence. On paper, being a law student at the University of Florida (aka Gainesville University) was perfect for her. She was used to creating powerful arguments from her debate club experience. People thought so highly of her writing that they asked for her to write copy for their businesses. And as perfect as those transferable skills was the fact that the University of Florida gave her a full scholarship to matriculate. Furthermore, becoming a lawyer would bring her stability in her personal life. Surrounded by her textbooks and highlighters and notebooks, Cathlyn realized that continuing to pursue her JD would put her on a hamster wheel where she'd futility chase happiness. Instead of running faster on the hamster wheel... Instead of faking it until she made it... Cathlyn made a peculiar, lifechanging decision. She made the decision to hop off the hamster wheel and took a brave leap sideways. It granted her time to catch her metaphorical breath and time to revaluate where she wanted to go. In less than a year, Cathlyn's brave leap sideways resulted in her giving an incredible TEDx talk, not to mention having a flourishing business as a marketer and copy writer. Things happen that fast when you are feeling great and moving in a direction where you aren't chasing happiness. After hearing her TEDxOcala talk and having her on the Golden Mic Podcast, I've been thinking about what areas of my life am I trying to fulfull another person's expectations of me - or what areas of my life am I settling for. Now for you, what areas of your do you need to take your brave leap sideways? Where are you over striving or settling? As important, how do you even take a brave leap? Listen here. You'll be glad that you did.
If you haven't heard my cringe-worthy story of how I spent two years thinking about starting this podcast before I finally pulled the trigger, you can go listen to my One Year Podversary episode to hear all the embarrassing details. During that two-year period of overthinking and creative procrastination, I even flew from LA to Orlando to attend the Podcast Movement Conference, thinking that would inspire me to get off the fence. It did not, but it did help me take the first step to connect with today's guest, Heather Vickery. Heather is a leadership and success coach, speaker, workshop facilitator, podcaster, and author. I found a card promoting Heather's podcast, The Brave Files while at that podcast conference in 2019. I picked it up and saved it because I liked the message and branding. Eventually, I met the fabulous Annie P. Ruggles, who was our guest on episode # 86, and she introduced me to Heather. The world of female podcasters is a fabulous network of generous and supportive people. Heather spoke at She Podcasts Live this year, so we got a chance to meet IRL before recording interviews for our respective podcasts and the timing of this one was just a few weeks after Heather published her best-selling book, F*ck Fearless: Making the Brave Leap. We talk about the 5 step framework that Heather uses in her coaching programs and outlines in detail in the book, complete with exercises, examples from clients she's worked with and people she's interviewed on her podcast The Brave Files, and plenty of stories from her own life experiences. In this fun convo, Heather Challenges me to join her in recording and posting a video a day for the month of December (we recorded the interview in November) Calls me out on my belief that as part of nature we are either in a phase of growth or a phase of decay Mic Drop Moment: “Fearless is for sociopaths and 3-year-olds.”Heather's framework (hint, it spells out the word B-R-A-V-E) If you'd like to connect with Heather Vickery after listening to this interview, here are a few options: Get the book: https://vickeryandco.com/course/fck-fearless-making-the-brave-leap/Join her free Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/BraveOnPurpose/The Brave Files: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-brave-files/id1370255228Was it Chance?: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/was-it-chance/id1597327877 Are you ready to take things to the next level and work with Diann? Getting the best product photos possible is key to any business. For online shops and social media, your images can make or break the sale. Aaron studied at North Carolina State University and obtained a degree in Industrial Design. Graduating from college, he thought his path was clear to one day becoming an automotive or furniture designer. That is until a six-month-long trip to South America transformed his life forever. It was during this time that he fell in love with photography and its power to both facilitate and share adventures. In 2011, Aaron founded PHLearn to bring free, creative education to anyone around the world. Business Building InsightsAn e-commerce store is a necessity regardless of your product or service. A single product photo can make or break the sale. They are that important! Cameras love light and the best possible is outside in the morning or at dusk. For indoor photos, work near a window and reflect the existing light with white boards or tin foil to fill in shadows. As you come up with different variations of your product, make sure your photos match from one product to another. Pay more attention to the scene you’re photographing than the technology you are using to photograph the image. Engage with your audience through newsletters. Lisa graduated from UC Santa Barbara in 2005 with a degree in English. But there was a problem, her passion was for art and design. Unsure about what career to pursue, Lisa made what she considers to be the best decision of her life. She applied to a design school in San Francisco and dropped everything to attend. She earned a degree in Visual Communications and for the following 9 years worked as a visual merchandiser, eventually landing as a corporate visual merchandising manager. Although Lisa loved her work, she wanted to start a business of her own. It was at this point, she seriously started to entertain an idea that she’d had in her late 20’s – selling her mother’s candied pecans. The inspiration came after making the candied nuts for friends who raved about them and encouraged her to start a business. Finally, at 32, she was ready.
