The day has finally come, folks. It's the final new episode of the Dunesteef Audio Fiction Magazine. We've been at this for fourteen years, but our production has flagged considerably as the years have gone by. Rather than let the Dunesteef fade away slowly, we thought it would be best to give the old girl a proper burial. So, here we are. First, we bring you a story from Rish Outfield called, "Know When to Walk Away, Know When to Run." An emotionally unstable man goes to a casino with his best friend to soothe his pain from the anniversary of being left at the altar. Unfortunately, things don't go as planned, because not everyone at the poker table is who they seem. After the story is over, Rish and Big talk about a number of things, from the happy things that the podcast brought to their lives, to the future of what you can expect from the two of them. We're going to miss you all, but it doesn't have to be the end. Don't say goodbye, say good journey. Special thanks to Julie Hoverson, Tena Kolokowski, and Bryan Lincoln for lending their voices to the story.

When he was fourteen, he started writing stories of his own and by fifteen, he had started his own Rejection Slip Collection. After a long break away from writing, Ken returned to it after logging time as a sailor, soldier, preacher, musician, label gun repairman, retail manager and nonprofit director. He sold his first story to Talebones Magazine in 2000 and won the Writers of the Future contest in 2004. In a sequel to his story "Plague Birds" that appeared on the Dunesteef on episode 92, Jason Sanford tells the story of Plague Bird Christina de Ane's further adventures in the future earth that has been driven toward the brink of insanity by gene manipulation.  She arrives in a new village, where the Alderman's son has been brutally murdered, and is duty bound to dispense justice.  But something just doesn't seem right...Also, Big and Rish talk about how much better The Dark Knight is than its predecessor Batman Begins.  They also talk about how much better Star Trek: The Wrath Of Khan is than its predecessor Star Trek: The Motion Picture.  And that's before the story even begins.  You'd think we were in for a long show, but surprisingly, they reign it in after the story ends.  You may not be searching for a way to deafen yourself by the end of the show after all.Special thanks to Bryan Lincoln for producing today's story, to L. Is this our Valentine's Day episode, or another anti-Valentine's show?  You be the judge. It's the question on everybody's minds, as soon as they hear about fully-functional, human-like robots.  And though you wouldn't know it from listening to Rish Outfield, this story was not written by Robert Louis Stevenson. Afterward, very little gets said about robot sex, but there is a little more spoken about human relationships, and a couple of stories about inspiration are swapped.  If you're that guy who complained about platitudes, though, you will find nothing of worth here, so move along.Special thanks to Kim Price, Julie Hoverson, Bryan Lincoln, Marshal Latham, Amory Lowe, Joe Zieja, Josh Roseman, Damon Shaw, Amanda Crum, Clay Dugger, and Scott Pigg for lending their voices to today's episode.

If Rish survives this week, we present to you "Playable Character" by Eric Juneau. It's not easy being a character in a computer role-playing game.  You can rarely go where you want to, hang around your friends, wear the armor you've been eyeing.  Worse is when your player wants you to run all over the kingdom and slay monsters, or worst of all, when high-level campers stand in the way of you and your player's goal. Also, Big and Rish talk a bit about World of Warcraft, but mostly they revisit everyone's favorite topic: irrational fears.  This time, they take a look at some listeners' fears and have fun mockin--er, commiserating with them.Special thanks to Bryan Lincoln for producing and editing today's story, and to Liz Lincoln, John Lincoln, Bryan Lincoln, Buchis and Ghomus from the AIE guild on Earthen Ring, and Aeriah and Siek from the Imperfection guild on Lightninghoof for lending their voices to today's episode.

HG World presents the story of "The Googies" told from the perspective of Ken "Herbie" Peters, a man who has put those long, dark days behind him but is now facing the end of life 35 years later. Part 1 takes us back to that world in the fall before Season 1.  What is "The Popcorn Express"?  Who are the Googies and why do they work through The Happy Valley Militia?  How do Group Captain McInnes, General Ying, Major Grant and Dr. Shiva Vesta figure into these events? *Editor's Note: The Events narrated by Ken Peters in this series fall between the end of Season Zero and the beginning of Season One.  The framing storyline takes place many years after the eater uprising.  (Don't worry, Ken explains it better than me.) Googies Part 1 stars James Baxter as Ken, Bryan Lincoln as Mark and Lenny the Dispatcher and Gwendolyn Jensen-Woodard as Jo.  Also featuring Ron Runeborg as Scott, Ginny Swann as Woman in Truck, Carole Stokes as the Site Dispatcher, Curt Arndt as Crewperson 2, Bernadette Groves as Crewperson 1 and The Nurse, Mandy Burbank as Mrs. Peters, Eric Avedissian as Frantz and Cromp, Scott Pigg as the Emcee, with Ginny Swann performing as India Argento. (Note: This episode is a re-release.  It was originally previewed in the fall of 2011. This remastered version contains a new prologue and corrected scenes.) The episode was written and directed by Jay Smith.  Show running and production by Ayoub Khote, Line and Vocal Direction by Laura Nicole, Editing by Bryan Lincoln and Scott Pigg, Sound FX and Foley engineering by Scott Pigg, Engineered, Mixed and Mastered by Michael L Stokes, Musical Direction by Michael L Stokes and Jay Smith featuring music by Michael L Stokes, Kevin MacLeod and Jonathan Coulton, both courtesy of the Creative Commons License.  Musical Arrangement for "Pull the String" by Ed Creamer with permission from Jonathan Coulton. Jake is sick, wretchedly sick.  He is overcome with vomiting spells, his joints feel like they're filled with gravel, and he can't even summon the strength to drive home from work.  He certainly must have been poisoned.  But who would do such a thing?  Does he have an enemy?Don't answer the question, dude, it's just a teaser to get you interested in listening to the story. Also, Big and Rish talk about...well, they talk about something.  What could it be?  The only surefire way to find out is to listen.  Have fun.Today's story is produced by Bryan Lincoln, who narrated and edited the tale.  Also special thanks to Liz Lincoln, Sarah Slater, John Riendeau, and Abigail Hilton for lending their voices to the story.
