The book of Ruth focuses on two things that reveal our dependence upon God: land and children. We typically think of land as just matter that we through technology impose our will upon, but in the ANE land meant life, provision, and security. Central to Israel's conception of land is the idea of an inheritance — God himself apportions various plots to tribes and families. These are gifts to be received rather than objects to generate profit. God nourishes his people through the land. Similarly, God grants children as a gift. Land and children remind us not only of our dependence, but our place as one rung in a ladder of generations through time. Everything in our modern world drives us to focus on the here and now. But land and children gives us a broader perspective. But even these temporal things are not the final end, for as we learn in the NT, the great inheritance we possess as Christians is an eternal kingdom, a new creation. And that the extension of our life in time through children is only finally fulfilled in our resurrection. Ruth draws us into that fundamental reality of God as our ultimate provider, protector, and redeemer. En Centrafrique, le premier tour de la présidentielle, celui des législatives, ainsi que les élections municipales et régionales, auront bien lieu le 28 décembre 2025. Mais, pour l'opposant Anicet-Georges Dologuélé, ancien Premier ministre et président du parti Urca, les conditions ne sont pas réunies - aujourd'hui - pour que ce quadruple scrutin se tienne dans de bonnes conditions. Il revient sur ces questions au micro de Liza Fabbian. RFI : Le gouvernement centrafricain promet des élections à bonne date, c'est-à-dire le 28 décembre, selon le calendrier qui a récemment été adopté. Ces dernières seront « organisées de manière convenable ». Êtes-vous aussi confiant que les autorités de votre pays ? Anicet-Georges Dologuélé : Nous sommes en train de parler d'une autorité nationale des élections (ANE) qui a des problèmes qui sont dénoncés par tout le monde. On est à quatre mois et demi de ces élections-là. L'ANE n'a pas un kopeck pour les organiser. Elle est incapable d'organiser le fichier électoral. La révision de la liste traîne depuis près d'un an. Et c'est cette ANE-là qui ne pouvait pas organiser les deux élections présidentielles et législatives qui sont organisées depuis 1993. On va y rajouter à la fois les municipales et les régionales. Cela fait quatre élections en même temps. Pour une institution qui a des problèmes d'organisation, c'est beaucoup trop. Lors de son discours pour la fête de l'indépendance, le 12 août, le président Touadéra a dit continuer à tendre une main fraternelle et patriotique à l'opposition démocratique. Ce sont ses mots. Allez-vous la saisir, cette main tendue ? En fait, il a inversé les choses. C'est nous qui demandons le dialogue depuis deux ans. Nous avons demandé par écrit. Nous avons demandé en utilisant l'entregent de la Minusca et il ne nous répond pas directement. Mais il annonce dans les discours qu'il est prêt au dialogue. Et dans le même discours, il nous présente toujours comme des ennemis de la paix et de la démocratie. Nous nous sommes rendu compte de ce déficit de confiance qui est énorme. C'est pour cela que nous avons proposé, par écrit, qu'il puisse accepter qu'on sollicite un chef d'État de l'Afrique centrale qui puisse nous accueillir. Comme ça, ça met tout le monde à l'aise pour que l'on puisse dialoguer sans arrière-pensée. Cela fait deux ans que nous demandons le dialogue. Je pense que pour prendre la décision de dialoguer avec son opposition, cela lui prend cinq secondes. Et nous, nous n'avons pas les capacités de convoquer un dialogue. Mais selon vous, sans ce dialogue, est-il impossible pour les opposants de prendre part aux élections ? L'ANE ne fonctionne pas. C'est l'ANE qui organise les élections. Comment pouvons-nous aller à des élections en sachant que cela va mal se passer ? Ce n'est pas nous qui le disons. Ce sont des experts internationaux. Aujourd'hui dans la Constitution, ils nomment, lui et son président de l'Assemblée nationale, six membres sur onze du Conseil constitutionnel. C'est trop. Nous voulons la réforme de ces deux institutions. Et dans la Constitution, il y a un certain nombre d'articles qui vont entraîner de graves problèmes. Nous voulons discuter de ces articles-là. Dans l'option d'un boycott des élections, est-ce qu'il n'y a pas un risque d'acter le troisième mandat que vous dénoncez ? Est-ce que le président Touadéra a les moyens de financer les élections en Centrafrique ? Depuis 1993, notre pays n'a jamais pu financer lui-même ses élections. Je suis député, membre de la commission finances. Il y a zéro centime dans le budget pour financer les élections à venir. Nous avons besoin du financement de l'Union européenne et de la France. Nous avons aussi besoin de l'apport de la Minusca. Les élections sont une compétition. Dès lors qu'il n'y a pas de compétiteurs, pourquoi sortir l'argent du contribuable des pays de l'Union européenne pour aller faire de Touadéra un empereur ? Je pense qu'il n'aura pas les financements nécessaires pour faire ce qu'il croit vouloir faire. Alors est-ce que vous demandez aux bailleurs de suspendre leur financement s'il n'y a pas de dialogue avec l'opposition ? Je pense que sans même que nous le demandions, ils ont des représentants à Bangui. Ils se rendent compte qu'il y a des problèmes graves. La Minusca apporte beaucoup, mais quand il y a eu le référendum, elle ne s'est pas sentie concernée parce qu'elle voyait que c'était une violation de la démocratie. Donc, elle n'a pas participé au référendum. Nous pensons que pour les élections, même si c'est dans son mandat, les conditions ne sont pas réunies. Et pour l'intérêt du peuple centrafricain, elle ne participera pas aux opérations. Selon les termes de la Constitution de 2023, les binationaux ne peuvent pas se présenter à la présidentielle. Est-ce que vous envisagez d'abandonner votre nationalité française ? C'est-à-dire que l'on se concentre trop sur cette question de binationalité. Mais la Constitution a des éléments beaucoup plus graves que ça. Par exemple, la Constitution dit que ceux qui ne sont pas centrafricains d'origine, donc de père et de mère centrafricains, ne peuvent pas se présenter. Un binational peut renoncer à une nationalité. Mais comment faire pour ceux dont le père ou la mère sont d'un autre pays ? Pourquoi amener ces problèmes artificiels là où cela se passait bien depuis 65 ans ? Je pense que le dialogue, c'est pour voir tous ces articles qui posent problèmes Voilà pourquoi nous réclamons ce dialogue. 3 state agencies are responsible for taking and investigating allegations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Those agencies are the Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS), the Department of Health and Environment (KDHE), and the Department of Children and Families (DCF). These agencies may refer alleged perpetrators to 3 state licensure boards: the Board of Healing Arts, the Board of Nursing, and the Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board. The state's process for investigating allegations and identifying perpetrators is complicated and fragmented. State law is also unclear about agencies' responsibilities. We found KDADS and DCF keep registries of perpetrators, but KDHE does not. KDHE doesn't investigate allegations of ANE because KDHE officials believe they lack the authority to do so. We also identified issues with how agencies refer allegations to each other. These issues suggest not all suspected perpetrators get investigated and that agencies' registries may be incomplete.

This article looks at some instances of women in Biblical genealogies, particularly noticing the difference between the egalitarian status of women in God's plan and purpose in Genesis, and how women were actually regarded as subordinate to men in ANE culture. The place of a woman in patrilineal genealogies is usually in a supporting role that informs the status of the men with whom she is associated.

Genealogies were not used in ANE in the same way we use ours today. This article outlines the theory and models of genealogies as used in the Hebrew bible, and explores their purpose: to record the blood relationships and lineage of the people of Israel among the peoples of the ANE; to emphasise their identity as people in covenant relationship to their God, Yahweh; to summarise covenant history; to identify relationships in order to authorise claims to lands and roles, such as priestly and royal ones, especially for those returning to the land after the exile.

The Shutter Brothers are back fresh from an early morning photowalk to Richey Ridge Falls (near Soddy Daisy, Tennessee) and are ready to share their recent experiences photographing both together and also with a group of fellow film photography podcasters at Old Car City in White, Georgia.
