Alexandra Evans joins us this week for an in person interview. Alex started her hospitality career over four decades ago in her teenage years working at a French café a few blocks from where she grew up in midtown Toronto. A few years later, Alex lied her way into a waitressing job at Toby's Goodeats - very popular burger chain in Toronto in the 1980's. Alex loved the late nights and fast cash and fast cameraderie that comes with working in the industry. Alex moved into Management at Toby's and in the early 90's joined the team at O'Tooles on Carlton St across from Maple Leaf Gardens and stayed for 3 years. Alex eventually moved on to work at a French bistro - Le Paradis - for over 12 years, then soon after got bitten by the wine bug. Alex started a wine class in 1999 that morphed into a Sommelier diploma by 2004. That diploma opened the door to a management job at Boba restaurant on Avenue Road then Celestin on Mount Pleasant. That in turn opened a bigger door to Scaramouche restaurant where she stayed for 10 years as Maitre d', Sommelier and server. Eventually, Alex retired from serving in 2019. Alex and her partner moved to Stratford Ontario in the summer of 2021 and started teaching wine and service at the Stratford Chefs School where she enjoys passing the torch to the younger generation. In March of 2022 Alex started working for Nicholas Pearce Wines as their sales representative for South West Ontario where she gets to interact and keep her foot in the door of the hospitality industry and be in bed by 10pm….. In Alex's own words "It's been a great gig!" DTEN was a major focus for many attendees of this year's Enterprise Connect 2023. The company sells a family of all-in-one video conference solutions. On its own, that offering would be more central than ever to enterprise needs, as organizations continue to invest in hybrid workforce models. In this podcast, Nia Celestin, Head of Marketing, discusses how the company's AI-powered All-In-One DTEN D7X is on the cusp of certification. According to Celestin, this is a big story for both enterprises and their channel partner vendors. DTEN is often used with Zoom. Microsoft Teams is becoming ubiquitous in the enterprise world, so integration with Teams is a very big story. Advanced audio, easy deployment, easy to use and with touch technology, enabling white boarding and document annotation, are a part of the story. We also learn about a desktop solution, for Teams users, under development. We also learn about new products that address challenges people have had with things such as camera angle, for video conferencing. 8.29 [Conversation] Eric Helvie and ALARM founder Dr. Celestin Musekura continue their discussion and wrap up Genesis 1: Life Together, Again in the Fourth and Final Part of the sermon series. Dr. Musekura - For some Christians, we misunderstand actually what reconciliation means or what community is. We have probably had a bad understanding that we are saved to form a group that is self-serving. The reason why I'm involved in reconciliation is to challenge us, Christians, to understand that Christ calls us to love our neighbors. To love God and to love our neighbors like we love ourselves… Now we have defined neighbors as those who look like us, those who think like us with the same religion, with the same doctrine. That's wrong… reconciliation or the extension of God's grace is an open embrace that welcomes everyone to the table. And, it's by welcoming everyone to the table that we get to know them, we get to share with them, they get to share their journey. BUT, we want people to change their journey even before we know what it is.
8.22 [Conversation] Genesis 1: Life Together, Again - Part Three Eric Helvie and Dr. Celestin Musekura discuss the effects Covid has had on communities and consider ways that we might come back together with renewed hope despite feelings of exhaustion, isolation, grief and loneliness. Dr. Musekura - We begin to see that there is hope if we look beyond the moment. (In Rwanda) we began to build a community in the refugee camps of Christians who had fellowship, who began to help each other. Somebody told me that, “In my community we helped each other to suffer peacefully.” Another pastor told me, “Because of the community around me, I could tolerate my grief, I could grieve with hope.”

Just a couple of friends messing around, having some fun and showing some love. Welcome to my premier episode where I (Mahlon), Joe, Alec, Celestin, Pete, Hasina, and David had a little fun freestyle at the Airbnb they got for my birthday. This episode is an example of what this podcast is about. There is no set design. There is no way of doing it correctly. The only way is to just do it. And that's the true meaning behind this. --- This episode is sponsored by Mays Tropical Sea Moss. Juice your day up with their fruit-infused sea moss drinks and gel.
