Farha Ternikar (Ph.D., Sociology, M.A. Religious Studies) is the director of Gender, Women and Sexuality Studies at Le Moyne College, Syracuse. Her current manuscript “Faith and Food Networks: Muslim women's acts of resistance and resilience in the American Diaspora” examines how in addition to race and gender, global Islamophobia continues to play an important role in how we can understand the role of food for Muslim communities both in the United States and India. She teaches courses in feminist theory, and race, gender and pop culture. She is the author of Intersectionality and the Muslim South Asian Middle Class: Beyond Hijab and Halal (2021), and several articles including “Beyond Hijab and Modest Fashion”, “Feeding the Muslim South Asian American Family”, and “Hijab and the Abrahamic Traditions”. Her piece “Muslim American Women,” co-authored with Inaash Islam, was recently published in Encyclopedia of Women and Islamic Cultures. The last time she decided to move there was when she brought her two rescue dogs and her husband, author Gerald Everett Jones. In her new novel, TERRIERS IN THE JUNGLE, she wrote about many of their adventures, including her plans to create “The Elephant Matriarch School” in Kenya. The novel is narrated by her dogs! As a young woman, Georja experienced a vivid past-life regression in which she was a young child whose mother was killed by an elephant hunter, and she was raised by elephants. While staying in Kenya, she realized that she was an elephant in that past life. Now, she knows many elephants in Kenya, has adopted many orphaned elephants, and has hugged many of them. Kevin Broderick is in his 15th season as the Head Men's Basketball Coach at Nazareth University in Rochester, New York and his 28th overall as a college head coach amassing a 448-269 (.625) overall record through 27 seasons.Broderick previously was the head coach at Oswego for 13 seasons where he coached the Lakers to eight straight winning seasons.Broderick's coaching experience includes two seasons as an assistant coach at Canisius College and one season each as an assistant at Genesee Community College, LeMoyne College and Nazareth. At Canisius from 1994 through 1996, Broderick worked under the direction of former Nazareth head coach John Beilein, who has had several Division I coaching stints, most recently at the University of Michigan. As a player, Broderick was a four-year member of Nazareth's basketball team and was team captain as a senior in 1988-89. As the team's starting point guard for two seasons, Broderick averaged 7.7 and 8.4 assists per game for his last two seasons. He ranks third all-time in career assists at Nazareth with 460. Derrell Nelson was born and raised in inner city Rochester, New York. Derrell's book, Tour de Hoops: Bigger Than Basketball tells of his experiences playing basketball overseas. Derrell never played high school basketball. He graduated from Le Moyne College with a bachelor's degree in business management and finance. He began graduate school in 2015 at Cardiff University in the United Kingdom where he played for the men's basketball team, accomplishing a life-long dream. In 2016, Derrell won the MVP award for his college basketball team in the UK. After playing only one year of college basketball, he decided to turn pro overseas.
