Was Charlie Conway in D3 actually just a Jesse Hall clone? With Tommy and Kevin out again, Mike welcomed on Dafne -- the originator of the theory -- and Vishnu to layout the theory. The theory really boils down to two things: 1.) Charlie's sudden class warfare and 2.) Charlie's quick improvement, out of no where. Dafne brings some incredible info regarding the original script. In the end Mike tries to disprove the theory and comes up with his own. Which side is more convincing? About 40 million people in the U.S. suffer from migraines. Yet, migraine mechanisms are only just now understood. That's good news for better medicines, and Charlie Conway of Biohaven Pharmaceuticals discusses how his corner of pharma has developed a targeted therapy with great promise. Listen and learn How migraine headaches and related symptoms result from an over-activated trigeminal nerve in the brain that releases CGRP; Why CGRP causes debilitating symptoms including pulsing headaches, light and sound hypersensitivity, and nausea; and How they've developed CGRP-targeted therapies that either block the receptors or absorb the excess. Charlie Conway is the Chief Scientific Officer at Biohaven Pharmaceuticals. His background includes a postdoc on neuroscience and pain sensing. He brings listeners up to speed on the latest research on brain cells and migraines, including how the physiology leads to overactive nerve cells and debilitating pain. It starts with a trigger of the trigeminal nerve, which sits on either side of the brain stem. The exaggerated trigeminal nerve activity then changes the response properties deeper in the brain, releasing a chemical called calcitonin gene-related peptide, or CGRP. In addition, because nerve cells are able to stretch, they're in key positions to absorb CGRP; in fact, a single cell in the brainstem can send up fibers that connect to the outer brain tissue. When the CGRP is released, the proteins hit a few different areas of the brain, including this outer brain tissue called the dura. This leads to over-excited nerves and what's called neurogenic inflammation. He describes the additional biological events that lead to the pain migraine suffers experience. But Biohaven's anti-CGRP targeted therapies prevent this cascade. In fact, they've shown that the treatments are effective for both acute migraines, as well as prevention. That prevention is what makes their therapy unique and especially promising. Listen in for more about what they've developed, how it compares to other therapies, if there are possible risks, and how this can make a substantial difference. All things must come to an end, and so the time has come to bid farewell to the definitive Disney sports team - though just a few week away from their Disney+ return/reboot. D3: THE MIGHTY DUCKS sends the ragtag group of hockey players off rather appropriately - with them finally learning how to actually play hockey, free of trick plays and illegal moves. But it also means a reduced role for Gordon Bombay, an unearned shoulder chip for Charlie Conway, and a total sidelining of star player Adam Banks. It's not quite a thrilling conclusion, but hey, the Ducks were never one to do things conventionally.
Dan and Jeremy discuss the most notable fourth jersey reveals from the NHL's reverse retro line and how to feel about teams wearing throwbacks that represent their previous city. Then they talk about the Mighty Ducks 3 and Charlie Conway's first good coach along with a bit more slang to add to your lexicon in this week's Squidwords.
¡Quack!
Dan and Jeremy discuss Braden Holtby to the Kraken via the Canucks, along with their least favorite players that might find their way to Seattle. Then we take a dive into an oft forgotten Thunderbird, define some hockey terms, and explain why Charlie Conway is the last character from the Mighty Ducks franchise you should want on your team.
Alcoholics must learn their lesson with this one, you drink, you take your limo on to the ice to coach a terrible hockey team! We are covering the scrappy Minnesota peewee hocey team from district 5 that inspired a generation and led to an actual NHL team. We answer things like: how did the team go from global stakes to varisty-jv issues, what was going on with Connie and Double G, and everything Goldberg? Julie the Cat and Charlie COnway get a lot of coverage here, almost as much as Martin Sheen's doppelganger!
Episode 15 of Inside Quotes! This week we continue our coverage of the Mighty Ducks films with D2 (Jeremy's Pick). Hey Ducks Fans, Angela Bowen here, the host of Looking Back On My Wonder Years: A Wonder Years Podcast. Today, I close the book on The Mighty Ducks Trilogy by reviewing the third and final movie D3:The Mighty Ducks (1996). I have to be honest when I say, the first The Mighty Ducks (1992) will always rank as the top Ducks Movie in my mind and in my heart, I adored the second one as far as sequels go, but the third one was just an utter bottom of the barrel mess what with the crappy storyline of the Ducks being given scholarships to Eden Hall Academy and their biggest rival is the Varsity Team. Give Me A Break! I agree with Joshua Jackson's piss poor attitude of not wanting to do this movie, he really brings that to the table in his portrayal of Charlie Conway who comes out acting like a major dick to whoever crosses his path. Gordon Bombay looking as hot as his OG Mighty Duck Movie self (none of this middle part longer hair BS like in the second movie)and we get to see Casey and Hans again, all three of them are calling Charlie out on his shit attitude basically telling him to grow a pair and grow the F- UP. Bombay gives Charlie a pep talk and magically he becomes OG Captain Duck Charlie Conway again, the real Minnesota Miracle Man (according to Bombay)and able to play by Coach Orion's rules which are all about, DEFENCE DEFENCE DEFENCE!!! I had a good time ragging the hell out of this movie and hope you all get some enjoyment out of it too. Stay Safe and Stay Positive! We WILL get through this! We kick off Part I of our 4-Part show journey with a new Teen Drama this week...as we dive head first into a late 90s/early 2000s power house: Dawson's Creek! We hope this podcast will last the test of time, unlike the 1998 baggy jeans and Caesar haircuts sported in this show. This week topics include: Dawson's Creek fun facts, character breakdown, Katie Holmes as the quintessential Girl Next Door, the Mighty Duck Man himself (Charlie Conway), palpable sexual tension, Dawson's horny parents, blockbuster days, ladders into windows, and Pacey crushing pilot season. Featuring Tips for the Kids, clips/music from the show, MCITW (sponsored by Wicklow Wear), and MVP of the Week.
Nate Emery returns along side with new contributor Jackson Herlong of the Parlor Podcast. We discuss D2: The Mighty Ducks and dive into the mob world Jan lived, and admit that Charlie Conway was the worst player on the team.
With Tommy away, Mike and Kevin tackle a #QuackQuestion on whether Gordon Bombay really told Coach Orion that Charlie Conway was the real Minnesota Miracle man. Was it just a line to make Conway cry? We then move on to the fourth trivia matchup, this time with less controversy.
Charlie talks up his mom to Gordon, Gordon tells Charlie that he's stepping down as coach and the team gets into a fight at school...Special Guest: Liz Whitaker from Mean Girls Minute
Congratulations to the St. Louis Blues on winning the 2019 Stanley Cup! We take a look back at Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final and re-live the season that was in the NHL, including Ryan O'Reilly's Conn Smythe victory. The NHL Awards are this Wednesday, so we look at who should win the Calder, Jack Adams, Vezina, Norris and Hart trophies. And while we're at it, we make the plan for Mighty Ducks 4. What has Charlie Conway been up to since we last saw him? Erik Karlsson re-signed with the San Jose Sharks while Jordan Eberle stays with the New York Islanders. Charlie Conway. Summer Olympics. Chicago Bulls. Is 96 (1996) the best edition yet?? Still no Zach this episode, whose Week 5 Bye extended into a Week 6 injury listing (did not report). Handcuff and scatback co-host Matt Suggs returns for a second week in a row, who's always ready to be called up when needed. He's basically the Darren Sproles of the CMB Fantasy Football Podcast. Drew Brees became the NFL's all-time leading passer, and at this ridiculous pace QBs are on through five weeks, no passing record will be safe moving forward. Jay Myrick, co-manager of the two-time CMB Champion IDPs Still Suck, offers another candid, non-sugarcoated interview, naming this week's opponent, H&F Industries, as the only CMB team worthy of rival consideration. Booyah 90s Now. In 1992, everything was happening: accidental bombings, a presidential election, racial discrimination. But nobody under the age of 12 cared. Joe, that Disney-brainwashed dummy, banged a ball all over his basement with a hockey stick, and delusional Rob hid his sweet action movie ideas so Hollywood couldn’t steal them. Charlie Conway cried in a diner. Fulton slapshotted windows to bits. ARE WE DUCKS OR WHAT?!?! BooyahPodcast@gmail.com / (857) 626-6924

Jeff, Adam and Jeramy weren't sure if they had what it takes to help the Mighty Ducks lace up the skates one more time and "Quack" their way to victory. That's why they invited real pee-wee hockey coach and SequelQuest fan, Eric to join them on this episode to get them into shape. So listen now as this squad of podcasters discuss their favorite characters from the films, growing up in the home of the real Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, our picks for the best sports films of all time as well as what Charlie Conway and Gordon Bombay would be up to today. Mike, Tommy, and Kevin have harpooned a white whale. Mighty creator Steve Brill stops by for part one of a two-part interview. Brill discusses how his original script had an interracial romance, how he had Charlie originally missing the penalty shot and who would actually win a Hunger Games full of the Mighty Ducks. Mike, Tommy and Kevin try to determine what Mighty Ducks would go to jail and which ones would write a book about the experience. They also take another #QuackQuestion on an alternate universe with Jake Gyllenhaal as Charlie Conway. Show Notes Thanks to @timminer for the #QuackQuestion that started it all. Kevin argued that Connie was playing Guy the whole time in Episode 4. Guy was the lookout in D3: Kevin talked a lot about Con Air. Watch it. Or at least read the synopsis. This is the scene Kevin was talking about in the Butterfly Effect. We talked about Averman working at the movie theatre illegally in Episode 20. We talked about Julie the Cat and Connie being American sporting heros in Episode 7. The synopsis of Julie Gaffney's book: Gaffney begins her story with her childhood in Maine and how her sporting obsessed father got her into ice hockey. She wasn't good. One day, looking more to get rid of her than anything else, her youth coach put her at goalie. She took a liking to it and, more importantly, she excelled. She took her Bangor team to two straight Maine state championships before moving to a boys team. An article in the local paper about a girl playing goalie for the boys found its way into Don Tibbles' hands. He flew to Maine right away and gave her a spot on the Junior Goodwill Games team. After her goal-medal winning save she went to Eden Hall, where she started for the freshman team for a year before being moved up to varsity as a sophomore. She earns the starting job as a junior. The team lost in the state semifinals, breaking Eden Hall's streak of 12 straight state championships. Gaffney won the state championship as a senior and played four years at Maine while starting for the U.S. Women's National team at the same time. After graduation she moves to play for the national team full time, living off of endorsements. After two straight Olympic goal medals, Gaffney finds herself slowing down. Alex Rodriguez, who she meant while on a commercial shoot for Subway, gives her a cream. She finds she's able to recover a lot quicker and uses it all the time. Gaffney later learns it's a steroid but is so addicted to the feeling of freshness she gets that she keeps using it. The U.S. beats Canada its third straight Olympic gold medal. As Gaffney gets older, she needs more cream. She eventually meets the supplier in Mexico. The supplier, a man nicknamed El Dingo, offers her a discount if she helps in distributing it. Gaffney, facing the pressure of backstopping an unprecendented fourth straight gold-medal team, agrees. All goes well until she sets up a meeting to sell to what she thinks is a Cuban baseball player defecting to America to play in the MLB. It's a sting operation and Gaffney is sentenced to jail time. She misses the Olympics. The U.S. loses to Sweden in the semifinals and finishes with an embarrassing bronze medal. Gaffney starts writing this book while in jail. She concludes by saying she's sharing her story to prevent other kids from making the same mistakes. We talked about Fulton turning his life around in Episode 8. Kevin compared Charlie Conway as a coach to Mike Rice. This is what Mike Rice did: Thanks to Adam G. for the question. The recasting episode was indeed Episode 50. Jake Gyllenhaal's parents are a director and a screen writer. They wouldn't have let their son's career peter out.
