Looking back at the first round of the Culture Wars, with Jesse Helms discussing a crucifix submerged in urine on the floor of the senate, one figure remains misunderstood: Thomas Kinkade. The "Painter of Light." The guy your alcoholic grandmother who would never admit she terrorized you really loved. Kinkade's career combines the worst of American culture -- multi-level marketing schemes, Jesus Christ kitsch, and televangelism -- into one product. Jessa and Nico discuss Art for Everybody, the new documentary seeking to rehabilitate Kinkade's image, and whether if Kinkade were alive today he would be appointed the new head of the NEA or Kennedy Center (yes). Greta Kaul joins host Erica Pearson to explain why Peanuts left the mall in 2006 and how the park eventually became Nickelodeon Universe. LINKS: What happened to Camp Snoopy at the Mall of America?

Every Friday around 8:15-8:20 a.m. on KFAN 100.3 the Power Trip Morning show plays the Initials Game. The game involves 12 items people, place, things, phrases or anything as long as they share the same initials. All 12 items share the same initials. The contestants do not know the initials until they are revealed shortly before the game starts. Each item has 6 clues. As soon as the contestants know who or what the host is describing, they yell out their name. Their name is their buzzer. If the contestant gets it right, they get a point. If they get it wrong they are out for just that item. The item does have to be pronounced correctly. It is best out of 12 with tiebreakers if needed. Tiebreaker items have 3 clues.#InitialsGame #ThePowerTrip #KFAN1003FOLLOW The Power Trip on Social Media:► Like the show on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/PowerTripKFAN► Follow the show on Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/PowerTripKFAN► Follow the show on Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/PowerTripKFAN► Follow Cory Cove on Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/CoryCove► Follow Chris Hawkey on Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/Chris_Hawkey► Follow Meatsauce on Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/Meatsauce1► Follow Mark Parrish on Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/MarkDParrish► Follow Marney Gellner on Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/MarneyGellner► Follow Aj Mansour on Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/AjKFAN► Follow Zach Halverson on Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/ZachHalverson

MOA VP Jill Renslow joined Susie Jones on The WCCO Morning News to discuss the holiday shopping season that got underway today in Bloomington.
As the largest retail and entertainment complex in the U.S., Minnesota-based Mall of America is currently experiencing its annual Super Bowl. Depending on who you ask, the holiday shopping season is already on — and, according to Jill Renslew, the center's chief business and marketing officer, Mall of America is embracing every related opportunity. As in years past, its strategy for the season includes hosting dedicated events, charity initiatives and Black Friday festivities, all of which have contributed to making a holiday shopping trip to Mall of America a tradition for oodles of consumers. “About 250,000 people come to Mall of America on Black Friday,” Renslew said on the latest episode of the Glossy Podcast. “We don't even need all the traditional doorbusters. People come for the tradition and the fun experience of [shopping] Black Friday [at Mall of America].” Also on the podcast, Renslew discusses what it takes for a mall to be successful in 2024 and how she's tackled marketing when 40% of the center's 32 million annual visitors are tourists.

Shotgun Spratling and Chris Trevino return behind the microphones for another episode of the Helium Boys Podcast, a serious non-serious USC football podcast. The Helium Boys are back to break down USC's disappointing 24-17 loss to Michigan in Minneapolis as their first-ever conference Big Ten road win again evaded the Trojans. They also look forward to USC's upcoming matchup against a top five Penn State team in the Coliseum this weekend. The episode opens with the Helium Boys staple 'Two-Minute Drill' that Shotgun apparently has no regard for any more after blatantly abusing the timer as he rants about the inconsistency of the Big Ten officiating that USC has been subjected to during their tenure in the conference. Chris then takes the 'Two-Minute Drill' reins to talk about his trip to Minnesota Chris and Shotgun then dive into their Stock Up/Stock Down segment looking at the players and themes that saw their stock rise or dip this week. Woody Marks continues to be a stock up candidate after another strong performance. Eric Gentry's stock was on the rise despite not playing while youngsters Alani Noa and Jide Abasiri are on the climb as is USC's run blocking. On the flip side, the Trojans' run defense and inability to get off of blocks is discussed heavily in the Stock Down portion. The Helium Boys then preview the upcoming Big Ten home opener against No. 4 Penn State for the Trojans, taking a look at the key storyline, player and matchup before positing scenarios that would cause USC to win and scenarios that would cause USC to lose Saturday afternoon's game. After a break, the podcast duo answer your mailbag questions discussing the offensive line play and the warmth of offensive line coach Josh Henson's seat, zebra issues and Greedy Vance Jr. The episode concludes with Chris quizzing Shotgun with some Take It or Leave Its about the upcoming game and the state of Pennsylvania before having him cold rank the eight most American things in the Mall of America. Please review, rate and subscribe to the Peristyle Podcast on Apple Podcasts! Make sure you check out USCFootball.com for complete coverage of this USC Trojans football and basketball teams. Astrophysicist Dr. Moiya McTier and comedian Corinne Caputo demystify space one topic at a time with open eyes, open arms, and open mouths (from so much laughing and jaw-dropping). By the end of each episode, the cosmos will feel a little less “ahhh too scary” and a lot more “ohhh, so cool!” New episodes every Monday. Pale Blue Pod is a member of the Multitude Collective.

Hour 1: Jerry and Sal begin their packed Friday show previewing this morning's “Moment of the Year” vote. The Titans started recent addition Josh Dobbs in a loss to the Cowboys and that leads into a discussion of just how crazy this year in the NFL has been. As we approach the end of the regular season, which teams are real Super Bowl contenders? Eddie sent in a question for Jerry and Sal to ask Neil deGrasse Tyson. Moment of the Day number 1: Gio as Wayne Randazzo after Wayne says “Coca-Cola corner”. Peter Schwartz is here with us to close out the year. The Knicks lost their fifth straight game falling in San Antonio last night. Sal says the team stinks. Pele passed away and Peter teaches Jerry and Sal the correct way to pronounce “Pele”. The Cowboys beat the Titans last night. One of Dak Prescott's interceptions was a bad throw but the other was not his fault at all. Sal isn't a big fan of JJ Watt. The Rangers lost to the Lightning in a shootout and the Islanders beat the Blue Jackets. In the final segment of the hour, we reveal Moment of the Day 2: a caller from Mississippi says Boomer is a loudmouth piece of ****. Then Jerry and Sal play Cool Games with an assist from Al. Hour 2: Hour two begins with Moment of the Day finalist number 3: Al's Miscommunication at Fliegs's wedding. Sal lays out the rules for the “Perfect Parlay” and then the guys discuss the Knicks loss to the Spurs. Jerry's question for the Knicks is what's next? Sal says they're a little better than they've been but still need a star before they actually matter. If Trae Young is available, Sal is interested. Moment of the Day finalist number 4: Mark Chernoff became a music DJ over the summer. Peter returns for an update and begins with the Knicks loss to the Spurs. Jerry likes the Cowboys' alternate white helmets that they debuted last night. Moment of the Day finalist number 5: Gio singing as Mike and the Mad Dog as the Commodores after both WFAN legends called the Commanders the Commodores. In the final segment of the hour, we bring one of Sal's overnight staples, “Perfect Parlay”, to the mornings ahead of week 17 in the NFL. Hour 3: American Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson joins the show to begin hour 3. He discusses life, the universe, whether life is predetermined, what happens when we die, the existence of aliens and how sports really are games of inches. Plus, Eddie Scozzare sends in a very specific question and Jerry asks NDT about his Yankees fandom. Moment of the Day finalist number 6: Torts kicked in the face. In the final segment of the hour, Bob Papa, the voice of the Giants, joins the show to share the story of being in the Mall of America with an active shooter last weekend and the football Giants season/upcoming game as well. Add Bob to the list of people who are in awe of the job Brian Daboll has done with the Giants roster this season. Hour 4: The final hour begins with Moment of the Day finalist number 7: Cranking the new horn at UBS Arena. Sal explains his view of the Giants and why he gives them credit but doesn't see them as a “real playoff team”. Moment of the Day finalist number 8: Caveman Jerry. We narrow down the finalists. Peter returns for his final update of the day and we all try Sal's ketchup on a Cheez-It combo. The guys debate how to pronounce “Pele” again and Sal uses an old Adam Sandler bit as his proof. We make our week 17 NFL picks as Yussef tries to catch up to Jerry in order to go to the Super Bowl. In the final segment of the show for the year 2022, Jerry reveals the results of the vote for the Boomer & Gio “Moment of the Year”.
