Episode 1292: Retire in 10 Years or Less with Ryan D. Lee

Most high earners follow the traditional path, but true financial freedom comes from earning, saving, and strategically leveraging money. In this episode of Sharkpreneur, Seth Greene interviews Ryan D. Lee, Founder of Wealth Outside Wall Street, who shares his journey from a six-figure corporate career to building a system for financial freedom. He also explains the three engines of wealth: earning, protecting, and generating passive income. He discusses the difference between investing and speculating, using the tax code strategically, and building a pathway to financial independence. Key Takeaways:→ The three engines of wealth are income, capital, and passive assets. → Making money is only one part; keeping money is equally critical. → Passive income converts saved capital into sustainable cash flow. → Speculating is risky; investing prioritizes safety and predictable returns.→ Success is measured by income-generating assets, not just net worth or ROI. Ryan D. Lee's journey to financial freedom began with frustration and loss. A six-figure salary and a maxed-out 401(k) weren't enough to shield him from the devastating effects of the 2008 financial crisis. Determined to find a better path, Ryan discovered a powerful combination of real estate and high-cash-value life insurance—now known as the Passive Income Machine. Today, Ryan is a trusted mentor and speaker who has helped thousands achieve financial independence. As the co-founder of Wealth Outside Wall Street, he's on a mission to teach individuals how to build cash-flowing assets, break free from conventional financial systems, and live a life of purpose and freedom. 432 “Lowest Consumer Sentiment” Is Good News? | The Pirate Street Journal

The American consumer is being misread. Surveys say people are panicking, but their behavior tells a completely different story. On this episode of Christopher Lochhead: Follow Your Different, we take a page out of The Pirate Street Journal, as Christopher Lochhead, Eddie Yoon, and Bri Clark broke down three forces reshaping the economy through a category design lens. From historic lows in consumer confidence to AI-generated buyers to an entire generation betting on prediction markets, the picture is not one of collapse. It is one of reinvention. You're listening to Christopher Lochhead: Follow Your Different. We are the real dialogue podcast for people with a different mind. So get your mind in a different place, and hey ho, let's go.   Record Low Consumer Sentiment Is a Category Creation Engine The University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index dropped to 44.8 in May, the lowest reading ever recorded, following what was already a record low in April. Yet unemployment is near zero, GDP is growing, and the stock market keeps hitting new highs. The numbers do not add up because the survey is measuring something different than economic health. It is measuring the death of an old life script. The linear path of college, marriage, house, promotion, and retirement no longer delivers the meaning it once promised. People are not curling up in a ball. They are buying fewer cars, skipping packaged foods, and trading stuff for experiences. When an old script breaks, people are forced to find meaning on their own terms, and that search is historically the most powerful category creation engine the economy has ever seen.   The Synthetic Customer Will Scale Mediocrity If You Let It Research shows that AI-generated synthetic customers can replicate roughly 90 percent of real conjoint study outcomes, including which features drive choice and early price sensitivity. Companies like Target and US Bank are already testing products on synthetic audiences before launch. The technology is genuinely exciting and could transform how businesses plan, build, and compete. The danger is that most companies will point their synthetic customer tools at the fat part of the bell curve, optimizing for the average buyer and calling it an insight. Eddie Yoon has spent decades proving that the super consumer, roughly 8 to 10 percent of any customer base, can drive up to 90 percent of gross margins. Synthetic customers are only as powerful as the data they are trained on. Train them on average, and you simulate mediocrity at scale. The unlock is running synthetic studies on super consumers first, then non-consumers, and finding where those two extremes could meet. That intersection is where new categories are born. Proprietary data sets and purpose-built AI applications will separate the companies that discover the next wave from the ones that simply made the status quo slightly cheaper to produce.   Gen Z Is Not Irrational, They Are Responding to Real Data Roughly 32 percent of Gen Z investors have played prediction markets, a similar share are in crypto, and about 69 percent of Polymarket accounts have lost money since 2022. On the surface this looks like recklessness. In context, it makes complete sense. This generation grew up through 9/11, the 2008 financial crisis, and Covid, all before they could legally drink. Every institution that promised safety failed at least once during their formative years. The Nasdaq 100 returned roughly 21 percent annually over the last decade. The S&P returned 13 to 14 percent. Sitting still in an index fund would have made them wealthy. But when certainty has detonated repeatedly, patience does not feel safe, it feels naive. The speculation is not stupidity. It is a rational response to a world where the old guarantees proved hollow. The prescription from Eddie Yoon is to hold all three investment buckets at once: a boring cash safety net covering 3 to 18 months of expenses, smart index-based investments with consistent long-term returns, and a smaller speculative position built on genuine expertise and category-level knowledge. Speculation itself is not the enemy. Speculating without a superpower, without real edge, is where the damage gets done. Ken admits for the first time that he is genuinely worried about a Myles Garrett trade after hearing defensive coordinator Mike Rutenberg hem and haw when asked about Garrett's absence from OTAs, calling it the kind of non-answer you give when someone has prepped you for a question you cannot fully answer. Ken makes clear he does not want Garrett traded before the season starts, especially if they are also adding a project quarterback like Brendan Sorsby from the supplemental draft, arguing that doing both at once would kill the season before it even begins. The Sorsby conversation gets its own extended treatment, with Ken warming slightly to the idea of drafting him as a redshirt project for 2027 but pumping the brakes hard on the "potential top five pick" talk, rattling off a list of quarterbacks who were supposed to be top five guys and never panned out. The bottom line from Ken is that the Browns are at a crossroads and doing too many things at once this offseason could blow up a team that still has a chance to compete. 02:11 - Future Cleveland Sports Update 04:12 - Rutenberg on Myles Garrett 08:54 - Speculating a Garrett Trade 11:07 - Caller Gene Defends Myles 15:59 - Brendan Sorsby Draft Talk

He notes that miners are showing relative strength near 200-day moving averages and are benefitting from lower oil prices. //The Wire//2300Z May 18, 2026// //ROUTINE// //BLUF: CRIME AND SHOOTING SPREES RUN RAMPANT IN UNITED STATES. VEHICLE RAMMING ATTACK REPORTED IN ITALY. WAR IN MIDDLE EAST CONTINUES AS STRIKES REPORTED AT EMIRATI NUCLEAR FACILITY. U.S. STRIKES ISIS LEADERSHIP IN NIGERIA. FUEL CRISIS RESULTS IN SHARP INCREASE IN SHIPPING PRICES WORLDWIDE.// -----BEGIN TEARLINE-----  -International Events-Middle East: The situation remains as before, with most of the focus remaining on the restriction of travel through the Strait of Hormuz. As of this morning, all diplomatic efforts between the United States and Iran have failed to open the Strait, and traffic remains stagnant through the waterway. A handful of tankers have transited out of the Strait via the Iranian route, but Project Freedom has not resulted in any western-aligned merchants transiting the Strait since the initial skirmishes on it's first day.Around the region, limited targeting efforts continue to take place. Yesterday, the UAE reported drone strikes at the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in Al Dhafra. Three drones were detected and two were shot down, but one drone successfully stuck the compound. None of the reactors at the facility were breached, and no release of radiological material was reported.Nigeria: Hostilities have increased sharply over the past few days, with the United States conducting several airstrikes targeting ISIS facilities. President Trump himself announced the completion of a raid targeting Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, a senior commander within the Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP) insurgent group.Analyst Comment: Prior to a few days ago, the United States was only supporting Nigeria with intelligence and surveillance assets, and not openly engaging in the war themselves, at least as far as the public is concerned. The weekend raid on an ISIS stronghold is a major escalation of US involvement in the war, even though the mission may have initially been to capture al-Minuki.A good bit of reading between the lines is needed (along with a bit of speculation) to interpret what happened, as this announcement is different than other targeting efforts throughout the continent. The wording of all official reports implies that this was a ground operation to capture the leadership who had congregated together inside a compound. At some point, this ground operation transitioned to airstrikes taking out the target, with the High-Value Targets (HVTs) being killed during the strike. Speculating a bit, it's possible that when the ground force experienced significant resistance and everyone scattered from the meeting site on motorcycles, the US bombed the building and got al-Minuki by happenstance. This is a tale as old as time in the targeting world (especially in Africa), and aligns with the previous strikes within Sokoto, which targeted senior ISIS leadership in the same area back in December.Italy: Over the weekend a vehicle ramming attack was reported in Modena, as a terrorist rammed his vehicle into a crowd of people on Via Emilia Centro, a historic street in the center of town. A total of 10x people were wounded during the attack, with 4x victims remaining hospitalized in critical condition. The assailant has been identified as Salim El Koudri, and local authorities have not commented on motive.-HomeFront-Texas: Over the weekend a shooting spree was reported in Austin, as three suspects conducted approximately 12x small arms attacks around the city. The incident began Saturday with the theft of firearms from a local store, and also the theft of a vehicle from an apartment complex in north Austin. From there, the suspects conducted a joyride around the city, shooting at random citizens. One of the first targets was Fire Station 26 on Wentworth Drive, along with Fire Station 32 near Rollingwood. Throughout the city, over 20x different shooting calls were reported, with over 12x different shooting victims resulting from the shooting spree. At some point during the series of attacks from Saturday afternoon until Sunday morning, police made the connection that all of these attacks were related and involved the same suspects. A BOLO notice was put out by Austin PD, which was picked up by Manor Police Department, with one patrol officer visually observing the vehicle as the BOLO was put out on the radio. This immediately turned into a pursuit, with the suspects eventually crashing in a muddy field on state road 973, near a residential area in Manor. After the pursuit ended, the occupants of the vehicle scattered, and a large shelter-in-place order was issued while the manhunt was conducted to find the suspects. Two of the suspected shooters were captured immediately, a 17 year old and a 15 year old, both of which have long criminal records. A third suspect remained at large until nightfall, when he was discovered and arrested.California: This afternoon, an active shooter incident was reported at the Islamic Center of San Diego.Analyst Comment: No word yet on casualties or any other details yet as this is a developing situation. However, a media helicopter captured a video of a very clearly deceased individual located at the front entrance to the facility, so at least one person (possibly the shooter) was killed during the attack.-----END TEARLINE-----Analyst Comments: Around the world, fuel prices remain a growing concern. Over the past few days, sharp increases in the price of freight has been observed as the cost of diesel makes it more expensive to move cargo within the homeland. At the national level, the LMI Transportation index indicates that freight costs are the highest in recent memory, with the latest numbers for April being released and confirming what we already know...moving cargo is now extremely expensive. At the more operational level, this sharp increase in shipping costs can be seen with the price of moving a standard Twenty-Foot Equivalent Unit (TEU) shipping container. Before the war began, this container (on average) cost $980 to ship from China, to the Middle East (via the Red Sea route, not through the Strait of Hormuz). Right now, this same container costs about $4,131 to ship along the same route. During the COVID era, the maximum price observed was about $3,900 so as it stands, the oil shock has already impacted shipping costs more than COVID did. These costs are being observed right now within the United States both in terms of goods rising in price, but also availability.Throughout the Middle East, lots of talk continues and there isn't really any indicator for when this crisis might end. This afternoon, President Trump stated that the large-scale bombing of Iran was scheduled to continue tomorrow, but he has decided to hold off on the resumption of the war while a negotiated settlement is allegedly imminent. At the moment, it's not clear as to if this is just diplomatic posturing, or a genuine diplomatic effort. This exact situation was also alleged during the halt to Project Freedom, which stopped after one day due to a settlement that never came. In this case, this could be a negotiating tactic, but overall the war is certainly not over, and the effects of the war (i.e. the global petroleum crisis) remain largely unmitigated.Analyst: S2A1 Research: https://publish.obsidian.md/s2underground Disclaimer: No LLMs were used in the writing of this report. //END REPORT//

00:00 Well, today, Jake Tapper started his program off with a little bit of a monologue. We're in a press conference this morning. Democratic governor of Michigan, Gretchen Whitmer, laid out what she saw as the clear motive. 00:17 Yesterday's attack was anti-Semitism. It was hate. Plain and simple. Temple Israel, as have many synagogues in this country, uh had prepared for the worst. There were armed security guards, multiple armed security guards already on site. Employees had taken an active shooter prevention class just a few weeks earlier. Their own caution prevented a far more horrible outcome in Michigan yesterday. 00:44 We should note that attack was just the latest in a long string of anti-Semitic violence in the United States and around the world in recent months. So why is it that so many public officials are still reluctant to call it out by name? In Dearborn, Michigan, police last night increased patrols around schools and mosques all across the city as a precautionary measure. Wait a minute. Hold on. Just a second. 01:16 You had an attack? 01:19 at a Jewish synagogue. 01:25 and they increased patrols at mosques? 01:30 Is that what you're trying to tell me? Jake Tapper? 01:35 Yes, Islamic, so an Islamic individual, Eman Mohammed Ghazali, 01:44 drives his truck into uh a Jewish temple and you increase patrols at mosques? Is that what you're telling me, Jake Tapper? 01:57 uh I am just, you would have thought, no, I'm no law enforcement expert. But if I've got an attack at a Jewish temple, I think I might be increasing security at Jewish temples. see, not the places of worship of the ideology that just attacked the Jewish temple. You see how weird that is? 02:28 But all during that monologue, Jay Tapper... 02:34 did not mention. 02:37 Islam did not mention Muslim, oh my gosh, was a joke told one time that said. 02:48 that said could you imagine 02:54 A Muslim got ahold of a dirty bomb and exploded it over a city and hundreds of thousands of Americans were killed. That would be horrible because of the backlash against the Muslim community. that was one of those jokes where people go, yeah, would be bad. But they didn't realize it. Hundreds of thousands of people are just killed by a Muslim terrorist attack and you're worried about 03:23 The backlash against the Muslim community? I think you got your priorities kind of mixed up there. Extremely mixed up. 03:34 This is a problem that's not only going on here, it's going on around the world. I want you to listen to this. 03:53 Do you know what that is? That is the Islamic call to prayer at the largest soccer stadium in England. 04:07 The biggest. Home of Manchester United. 04:14 and they allowed the Muslim call to prayer. I want to know, I want to go back and check. If I went to... 04:24 Old Trafford Stadium and I said, Hello, love, like to go in there and sing some hymns about the Lord. No, you wouldn't be able to do that. It wouldn't allow that. Can I just go in here and read some Psalms? No, can't do that. No, can't do that. Can I go in here and just read a few passages out of the Bible? No, no, no, Can I go do the Islamic call to prayer? Come on in. Everything's fine. Yes, you can. 04:53 England has been colonized. 100%. So last night over on, um over on X, which by the way, if you're not following me over on X, I would love if you were to do that at Charlie on air. That's at Charlie on air. also streamed the show live over there. um One person says, a hundred bucks says you never tweet when a good old American white dude kills anyone. 05:24 Okay, well, you see there's a difference here, and I'll explain that difference to you. um Here in the United States, sociologists group Americans into about 10 to 12 major religious families, so to speak. Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Sikhism, Taoism, Confucian traditions, Baha'i faith, 05:53 Native American religions and others. Okay, of that list, ...

In this episode of the LSCRE Podcast, Craig McGrouther sit down with Paul Moore to unpack one of the most misunderstood ideas in investing: the difference between investing and speculating. After selling his company in his early 30s, Paul believed he had become a full-time investor. Instead, he learned the hard way that he had become a full-time speculator—a realization that eventually cost him millions during the lead-up to the financial crisis. In this conversation, Paul shares the painful lessons that followed, and how that experience reshaped his philosophy around risk, discipline, and capital preservation. The discussion explores why the most successful investors—from figures like Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger to seasoned real estate operators—often succeed not by chasing exciting opportunities, but by staying focused on one strategy for decades.Topics covered:• The critical difference between investing and speculating• Why confusing the two can destroy capital• The lessons Paul learned losing millions before the 2008 crisis• Why the best investors embrace “boring” strategies• The danger of shiny object syndrome in real estate investing• How disciplined operators evaluate deals and risk• Why long-term focus often beats chasing the next opportunity• How fund structures and preferred equity fit into today's market• Why today's real estate cycle may present a unique opportunityChapters00:00 Introduction to Paul Moore and His Journey05:50 The Birth of Wellings Capital11:49 Investment Philosophy: Avoiding Rescue Capital22:31 Navigating Unique Investment Opportunities27:41 Understanding Market Cycles and Investment Timing36:56 Embracing Technological Changes in Real EstateIn a market filled with noise, projections, and constant deal flow, the investors who consistently win are often the ones doing something surprisingly simple: protecting principal, staying disciplined, and resisting the urge to chase the next big thing. If you're a passive investor, capital allocator, or real estate operator looking to sharpen your investment philosophy, this episode offers a candid look at the lessons that only experience and sometimes painful mistakes - can teach.

I’ve been reading comics since I was a small child. I’m pretty sure, without exaggeration, that I learned how to read largely because of comics. Like anyone in the hobby, I’d fallen in and out of it through the years. These days, I’m fully back in it, though I’m not terribly concerned with new titles. I’m more interested in back issues, mainly from the formative years of my youth- the so-called “Bronze Age “ between 1970-1985. I’ve been building up my collection with lots of “reader copies” - books that are good for the home library but won’t exactly be paying for any college tuition bills. As I’ve been jumping back in, it’s clear that since I started collecting many years ago, the hobby of collecting has changed a lot, to no one’s surprise. “Slabbed,” or professionally graded and encased comics are very much a factor in modern collecting, making even amateur collectors think of comics less as pieces of a narrative and more as numbers on a 10 scale. I used to - still do - chase missing books and key issues. The chase for books that are only graded above certain numbers is relatively new and kinda gross to me, though I realize that may make me sound like an old man. It’s an interesting time for the aftermarket, and that’s the focus of this episode. Don’t be scared: this one’s not a nerdy deep dive into comic book lore. Instead, it’s about the art and science of collecting, speculation, and the buying and selling of used comics. You don’t need to read comics to listen or watch this episode. Two of my Facebook friends seem to have figured a lot of this puzzle out, and I’ve wanted to pick their brains for a while. Joining me are two guys who never met before recording. First, it’s Jon Belonio. Find him at cstyledog on Instagram, cstyledog_comics on ebay And here’s Dave Zortea. He’s at Zortea.us, Tiki Comics on Facebook Marketplace, and Tikicomicsandmore on ebay. For this episode,we met outside the Half Price Books in Schaumburg - I’m not convinced there are deals to find at Half Price Books, but it made geographic sense to meet there. Discussed on this episode: -Is there money to be made in flipping comics? -Where do you source comics? -What platforms are best for selling?-Should we all pool resources and do a video claim sale together? -Raw vs. slabbed. -The simple joy of having a good “reader copy” ## Car Con Carne is also sponsored by Exploding House Printing. //The Wire//2300Z November 28, 2025////ROUTINE////BLUF: SAFETY NOTICE IMPACTS MOST AIRBUS AIRCRAFT. POLICY CHANGES ANNOUNCED FOLLOWING SHOOTING IN WASHINGTON.// -----BEGIN TEARLINE------International Events-Global: This morning an Emergency Airworthiness Directive was issued for all variants of the Airbus A320 platform, due to an issue which results in solar radiation potentially affecting the Electronic Aileron Computer (ELAC). Approximately 6,000 airframes are affected by this issue.Analyst Comment: The fix for this issue is reportedly a software update, however it's quite a serious problem. Per the notice provided by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency, this issue causes the aircraft to randomly nosedive during a flight. This was identified by an A320 experiencing this phenomenon during a routine flight, which prompted an investigation and thus the discovery of the problem. No affected aircraft are allowed to carry passengers unless the issue is fixed, so delays will certainly come about as the thousands of affected aircraft are ferried to maintenance sites during the busiest travel season of the year.-HomeFront-Washington D.C. - Yesterday afternoon the White House confirmed that SPC Sarah Beckstrom (WV NG), one of the Guardsmen attacked at Farragut Station, died yesterday afternoon from wounds sustained during the engagement. SSgt. Andrew Wolfe (WV ANG) remains in critical condition following several surgeries over the past two days.-----END TEARLINE-----Analyst Comments: The aftermath of the ambush in Washington has resulted in a few policy developments on multiple fronts. In various social media posts and press conferences, the White House has stated that all immigration will be "permanently paused" from all third-world countries. A mass overhaul of the legal immigration system is also planned, as migrants with legal resident alien status from a list of 19x high-risk countries will be investigated for ties to terror groups.More broadly, further efforts to prevent future attacks are largely taking the form of cracking down on immigrant communities which are known to conduct terrorist attacks (as well as crime in general). The Somali situation in Minneapolis is a major focus, as operations were planned for the city even before the shooting in DC. On the economic front, President Trump also stated that all benefits programs in the United States will be halted for non-citizens.Whether or not any/all of this will happen is anyone's guess, but these are the claims that are being made at the moment. Minneapolis is an easy first step (by comparison, at least). Speculating a bit, the White House (and the Pentagon as well) are probably trying to prevent a future event from occurring, which might spiral into other problems. Time is of the essence, and getting involved in a counterinsurgency mission in the American homeland is something that nobody wants. It's gritty, dirty, and most Americans are not willing to see what living in that kind of world is like, so if a more traditional counter-insurgency effort were to get underway in the homeland at some point, it won't be something to jump into lightly or without much preparation.Lone-wolf attacks are usually exceptionally deadly because they're almost impossible to predict or plan for. However, doctrinally-speaking, these types of attacks are not necessarily indicative of a full-blown insurgency (which usually has a more hierarchical planning effort). However, reflecting on what's happened so far this year, each passing travesty has drawn together the fields of counterterrorism, and counter-immigration. At this point, the American people are finding out that there is much more overlap between these two missionsets than previously realized.Analyst: S2A1Research: https://publish.obsidian.md/s2undergroundDisclaimer: No LLMs were used in th

Technological revolutions rarely unfold the way we imagine. From the steam engine to AI, each wave reshapes who creates value - and who gets left behind. What if artificial intelligence isn't a revolution at all, but a late-stage innovation like shipping containers - transforming efficiency without changing the underlying system? Jerry Neuman joins the Jacob Shapiro Podcast and questions whether openness still drives progress, whether innovation can survive without risk, and why the next great leap forward might not be digital, but something we haven't yet learned to see.--Timestamps:(00:00) - Introduction(01:17) - Jerry Newman's Background and Career Journey(07:40) - The Evolution of Technology and Job Markets(12:52) - Impact of AI on Future Jobs(17:14) - Geopolitics and Technological Innovation(26:28 Comparing Historical and Modern Technological Revolutions(29:48) - Debating the Future of Innovation in Open Societies(31:35) - The Rise and Skepticism of Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency(35:11) - AI and the Next Technological Revolution(40:53) - The Impact of Containerization on Global Trade(52:17) - Speculating on Future Technological Innovations(57:18) - The Importance of Nurturing Innovation--Referenced in the Show:AI Will Not Make You Rich - https://joincolossus.com/article/ai-will-not-make-you-rich/--Jacob Shapiro Site: jacobshapiro.comJacob Shapiro LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/jacob-l-s-a9337416Jacob Twitter: x.com/JacobShapJacob Shapiro Substack: jashap.substack.com/subscribe --The Jacob Shapiro Show is produced and edited by Audiographies LLC. What if we stopped investing like bystanders and started investing like owners and “neighbors” in the story of our finances? When you invest like an owner, our portfolios can reflect faithful stewardship and create real-world impact. Robin John joins us today to share practical ways to move from passive investing to purposeful ownership.Robin John is co-founder and Chief Executive Officer at Eventide Asset Management, an underwriter of Faith & Finance. He's also the author of the book, The Good Investor: How Your Work Can Confront Injustice, Love Your Neighbor, and Bring Healing to the World.Investing vs. SpeculatingMany people confuse investing with speculating. Speculating—like day trading—is often no different than gambling. It's focused on short-term gains, trying to predict what the market will do tomorrow. But investing is about ownership. When you buy a stock, you're buying a piece of a company. You become a co-owner.That means your money is participating in real work—serving customers, employing people, and creating products that impact lives. As Christians, we should invest in companies we believe are doing good for the world, not just generating profits.Speculation is reactive and anxious. Investing, when done faithfully, allows us to rest in the knowledge that our capital is working toward purposes aligned with God's design for flourishing. The Responsibility of OwnershipOwnership changes everything. It confers ethical responsibility. If you owned a neighborhood store, you'd care deeply about how it serves your community, treats employees, and impacts the environment. In the same way, being a shareholder means you share in both the profits and the moral implications of what that company does. That's why Eventide Asset Management believes that Christians must think like owners, not traders. Ownership means engaging thoughtfully with the companies we invest in—voting proxies, engaging in dialogue with management, and ensuring that our capital is stewarded with integrity. Our investing isn't just about earning; it's about embodying our faith in the marketplace. Why Passive Investing Deserves a Closer LookIn recent years, many investors have turned to index funds or “passive” strategies. While these offer simplicity and diversification, I believe we should pause and ask: What are we actually owning? As Christians, we can't do anything passively—not even investing. Romans 12:2 calls us to avoid conforming to the patterns of this world, to renew our minds, and to discern what is good. That means we can't blindly invest in every company just because it's part of a market index.Do we really want to profit from industries like pornography, abortion, gambling, or tobacco? Our calling is to pursue good profits—profits that come from serving others and honoring God.To meet that need, Eventide has created systematic ETFs—investment funds that provide broad market exposure while intentionally excluding harmful industries. They're designed for believers who want to participate in the market without compromising biblical conviction. The Neighbor Map: Loving People Through InvestingIn his book, The Good Investor, Robin shares something he calls the Neighbor Map—a framework that helps us see all the “neighbors” affected by a business.God's command to “love your neighbor as yourself” (Leviticus 19) isn't abstract. It applies to the business world. At Eventide, they have identified six key neighbors every company should serve:Customers – Are the company's products truly good for those who use them?Employees – Are they treated with dignity, fairness, and care?Suppliers – Are business relationships ethical and respectful?Communities – Does the company create meaningful jobs and contribute positively to local life? The Environment – Is creation being stewarded well? Caring for creation is one of the most direct ways to love the poor, because it's the poor who suffer most from pollution and neglect.Society – Is the company contributing to the flourishing of the broader culture?Faithful investing isn't only about avoiding harm—it's also about embracing good. When we invest in companies that love their neighbors well, we participate in God's ongoing work of restoration. As investors, we're not distant spectators. We're partners. At Eventide, they engage directly with the companies we invest in—raising concerns, asking hard questions, and encouraging leadership to act with wisdom and compassion.Their goal isn't confrontation—it's collaboration. Whether it's addressing supply chain ethics, employee safety, or corporate philanthropy, we approach these conversations as co-owners who want to see good companies become even better.Clarity for Every Christian InvestorMany believers are unaware of what their money supports. That's why the team at Eventide created GoodInvestor.com—a free tool that allows you to screen your portfolio and see exactly what you're investing in. You can also connect with advisors who understand faith-based investing and can help you align your portfolio with your convictions. We hope that Christians everywhere would invest with joy, clarity, and confidence—knowing that their capital is serving God's purposes in the world. When we invest, we're not just moving money—we're shaping the world. Every dollar we deploy carries moral and spiritual weight. Our prayer is that more believers would see investing as a form of worship—a way to love God and neighbor through the stewardship of capital. Together, we can build a world that rejoices, where profits are good, people are valued, and creation is honored. On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:Back in 2010, my parents set up a life estate warranty deed for their home, adding my siblings and me to the deed. My mom passed away eight years ago, and my dad passed in December 2024. We're preparing to sell the house now, but I keep hearing that we need to use a “life expectancy table” to calculate the home's value for capital gains or losses. Can you explain how that works and what steps we'll need to take for the taxes?I've saved up three months' worth of income—about $2,300 in total—and I still owe around $500 on a HELOC and another $500 on a credit card with interest rates of about 7% and 8.9%. My question is: Should I treat my savings separately from my three-month emergency fund? For example, if something unexpected happens—like a car repair—I don't want to touch my emergency fund. Is there a certain percentage or guideline for how much should be in an emergency fund versus regular savings?Resources Mentioned:Faithful Steward: FaithFi's New Quarterly Magazine (Become a FaithFi Partner)The Good Investor: How Your Work Can Confront Injustice, Love Your Neighbor, and Bring Healing to the World by Robin C. A-BLOCK (2:30) SPECIAL COMMENT: TRUMP SUDDENLY SPECULATES ABOUT LIFE WITHOUT HIM: From anybody else it would be trivia. From Trump this is startling. Buried in an ordinary narcissistic flight: "It'll be very unfair in the future when they (Republicans) don't have Trump to fight for them." That quote, might be the biggest headline Trump has made this year and it sailed RIGHT past the American news media yesterday. What in the HELL did he mean by that and more importantly why did he suddenly acknowledge there is an end, maybe soon? After being MIA for five days – no live public viewing of him, just one video that according to White House time stamps took more than two hours to produce even though it only required him to try to speak for a minute-ten… he EMERGED with what was, even for him, such an utterly bizarre and especially vulnerable admission. He was out of view for FIVE DAYS. FIVE. From that bizarre “please clap” speech before the Generals at Quantico on Tuesday – the Pete Hegseth International Day of Military Hair Care Symposium and Product Sampling – through yesterday morning when he managed to stagger out of the White House, blast a series of non sequitirs at the press pool, and then go to another military celebration for which we have the money even in the middle of his shutdown of the government. Nobody asked: HOW have you been, WHERE have you been, WHAT are they treating you for, WHAT does that "when they don't have (you) to fight for them" quote mean? Because again, as in the week he went MIA at the beginning of LAST month, nobody had a clue what would take a man with compulsive talking disease and an ego so large it has own it zip code, from appearing in front of crowds and cameras for FIVE DAYS. And THEN Trump went in front of the Navy and said he warned about Osama Bin Laden last year, and told Pete Hegseth about it a year before 9/11, and claimed he was president in 2016 but they fixed the 2016 election, but they ran it again and he "got 250." What. In The Hell. Is Wrong. With Trump’s Health? B-Block (27:44) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: A $1 Trump coin? Ten cents per chin? Ian Miles Cheong doesn't think they'll eat his face. Noem and Lewandowski think they'll find undocumented immigrants attending the Super Bowl. And Kristi really has to go to the toilet. THIS IS OFFICIAL BUSINESS! C-Block (38:00) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: Well, here we are. Fifty years ago Tuesday night, at 11:15 PM, I did my first broadcast on an actual radio station with advertisers and listeners. I was 16 and it's not bad for 16 and for the fact that my much older colleagues at WVBR-FM did a superb job of hazing me. It's Monday, September 29th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Muslim crowd demands Indonesian church halts worship A Muslim crowd near Jakarta, Indonesia demanded a Christian congregation suspend worship on Sunday, September 21st, reports Morning Star News. In Tangerang at least 20 Muslims arrived at the Indonesian Bethel Church at 9:00 a.m., an hour before the congregation was to begin worship in a shophouse, a video recording shows. The Muslims demanded a halt to all worship until the church obtains all relevant permits. Slovakia bans surrogacy and homosexual adoption, recognize only two sexes Last Friday, the nation of Slovakia rejected European Union legislation by amending its constitution to enshrine recognition of only two sexes, ban the practice of surrogacy, and restrict adoption to heterosexual married couples, reports LifeSiteNews.com. Genesis 2:24 says, "Therefore, a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” Gunman kills two and injures eight at Mormon place of worship A gunman opened fire inside a Michigan Mormon place of worship, 60 miles northwest of Detroit, at 10:25am ET during the Sunday service, killing two people and injuring eight. He then set the building ablaze, before police shot and killed him, reports ABC News. Police Chief William Renye said hundreds of people were inside the building in Grand Blanc Township when a 40-year-old man rammed his vehicle into the front door, then exited the vehicle, and started shooting.  The gunman has been identified as Thomas Jacob Sanford, reports NBC News. The suspect is believed to have set the building on fire which caused a five-alarm blaze that caused a partial collapse of the structure. Flames and smoke could be seen for hours before the blaze was put out. Investigators wonder whether the shooting is connected with the death of the oldest-ever president of Latter-day Saints, Russell Nelson, who died at the age of 101 the day before. The next Mormon president is expected to be 93-year-old Dallin Oaks, per Mormon protocol. Christian pastor denied access to Dallas airport chapel A Christian pastor was denied access to the chapel at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport by a Muslim cleric, reports Christian talk host Todd Starnes. Tom Ascol, a prominent Southern Baptist pastor, wrote on social media that he had been in Dallas to visit the grieving family of Voddie Baucham, a renowned pastor and scholar.  Ascol said that he heard an announcement inviting passengers to visit the Meadows Chapel for a prayer service. The announcement included the phrase “all are welcome.” Ascol wrote on X, “With broken heart I went hoping maybe Scripture would at least be read. Instead, I found this & was denied access.”  The Baptist pastor posted a photograph of Muslims inside the chapel kneeling on prayer rugs. The pastor said he was physically blocked from entering the room. He explained, “They blocked my way in the inner room.  A man who had offered a loud prayer, not the Imam, said I could come in if I took my shoes off. I refused.” Church attendance rising after Kirk's murder, particularly among youth Some pastors have reported seeing an increase in church attendance following the assassination of Charlie Kirk, the conservative Christian founder of Turning Point USA, particularly among young adults, some of whom haven't attended a worship service in years, reports The Christian Post. JP De Gance, the founder and president of Communio, a ministry that helps churches evangelize better and expand their outreach capacities, believes that Kirk's message has inspired many young people to experience the Christian faith through a church community.  He said, “[There has been] a lot of anecdotal feedback from churches in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, and Douglas County, Colorado, reporting that they've seen an increase [in attendance] over the last two Sundays." Communio, which serves around 400 churches nationwide, has received reports of increased attendance from various religious denominations. Speculating on why Kirk's death, which was headline news worldwide, might have been the driving force to get young people to attend church, De Gance said that perhaps some began to take stock of their lives after hearing that someone within their age range had died a violent death. De Gance believes that more young people are coming to know who Charlie Kirk was and what he had to say about marriage, family and living for Christ, beliefs that reportedly were the reason why Tyler Robinson targeted him.  He said, “I think that causes a level of introspection. I think that causes people to ask, ‘What am I living for right now?'” Why Tim Allen forgave drunk driver who killed his father And finally, in a podcast with Michael Rowe, Tim Allen, the 72-year-old former star of the Home Improvement sitcom, shared the story of his father's death in 1964. ALLEN: “My father was killed by a drunk driver when I was 11 years old. Luckily, he was the only one killed, but he died in my mother's lap. My other two brothers were thrown around the car. A lot of kids were hurt.” Tim Allen's father had been driving home from a Colorado football game with six children in the vehicle along with his wife.  Tim was not in the car that day.  The drunk driver swerved across I-70, went through a median, and hit the car. Tim explained what his uncle told him. ALLEN: “And then I'm walking down to my house, knowing something terrible had happened. I get to the house, there's police, and my uncle was there and said, ‘Man up. You know, your mom needs you right now. So, no crying, none of that.” ROWE: “How old are you this point?” ALLEN: “Eleven. He was a great dad, love of my life. I said, ‘This doesn't make any sense. I don't like this.' And everybody's answer was, ‘He's in a better place.' The pain of it never stopped. The discomfort of it. That whole process started me on asking questions. Generally, getting no answers.” Tim Allen added, "Every single thing in my life changed. I knew it the moment he was dead, and it was not for four hours that I found out. I've hated November since then.”  On Thursday, September 24, he revealed that — after watching Charlie Kirk's widow, Erika Kirk, forgive her husband's killer on September 21st — he decided to do the same for the drunk driver who killed his father, reports People Magazine. Allen wrote on X, "When Erika Kirk spoke the words on the man who killed her husband [Charlie]: 'That man… that young man… I forgive him.' That moment deeply affected me. I have struggled for over 60 years to forgive the man who killed my Dad. I will say those words now as I type: 'I forgive the man who killed my father.'" Ephesians 4:32 commands, “Forgive one another, even as God, in Christ, forgave you.” Indeed, Erika Kirk said, “My husband, Charlie, he wanted to save young men, just like the one who took his life."   Listen to the unforgettable moment when Erika forgave her husband's assassin at the Memorial on September 21st held at State Farm Arena in Phoenix, Arizona, just 11 days after his assassination. ERIKA KIRK:  “On the cross, our Savior said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.'  (Luke 23:34) “That man, [Tyler Robinson], I forgive him. (applause as she wept) I forgive him because it was what Christ did, and it's what Charlie would do. The answer to hate is not hate. The answer, we know from the Gospel, is love, and always love. Love for our enemies and love for those who persecute us.” Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old man now being held at the Utah County Jail without bail, has been accused of the crime. If found guilty, the prosecutor has called for the death penalty. In this episode, Brian shares insights from ongoing human aging studies, including clinical trials of rapamycin and how dosing strategies, timing, and exercise may influence outcomes. He presents two key models of aging—one as a linear accumulation of biological decline and the other as an exponential rise in mortality risk—and explains why traditional models of aging fall short. He also explains why most current aging biomarkers lack clinical utility and describes how his team is working to develop a more actionable biological clock. Additional topics include the potential of compounds like alpha-ketoglutarate, urolithin A, and NAD boosters, along with how lifestyle interventions—such as VO2 max training, strength building, and the use of GLP-1 and SGLT2 drugs—may contribute to longer, healthier lives. We discuss: Brian's journey from the Buck Institute to Singapore, and the global evolution of aging research [2:45]; Rethinking the biology of aging: why models like the hallmarks of aging fall short [9:45]; How inflammation and mTOR signaling may play a central, causal role in aging [14:15]; The biological role of mTOR in aging, and the potential of rapamycin to slow aging and enhance immune resilience [17:30]; Aging as a linear decline in resilience overlaid with non-linear health fluctuations [22:30]; Speculating on the future of longevity: slowing biological aging through noise reduction and reprogramming [33:30]; Evaluating the role of the epigenome in aging, and the limits of methylation clocks [39:00]; Balancing the quest for immortality with the urgent need to improve late-life healthspan [43:00]; Comparing the big 4 chronic diseases: which are the most inevitable and modifiable? [47:15]; Exploring potential benefits of rapamycin: how Brian is testing this and other interventions in humans [51:45]; Testing alpha-ketoglutarate (AKG) for healthspan benefits in aging [1:01:45]; Exploring urolithin A's potential to enhance mitochondrial health, reduce frailty, and slow aging [1:05:30]; The potential of sublingual NAD for longevity, and the combination of NAD and AKG for metabolic and exercise enhancement [1:09:00]; Other interventions that may promote longevity: spermidine, 17
