Large language models (LLMs) generally do not work that well with non-English languages. But why is that the case? What does this mean for India, which has 22 languages recognised by the constitution and, according to different estimates, has total languages running into hundreds? How do we build and deploy LLMs for Indian languages? Should we even do so? Lokendra sits with Adya and Anwesha from the Takshashila Institution to discuss these pertinent issues. Tribhuvana Mahadevi was a queen who ruled one of the mightiest empires in ancient India - also called Kalinga. Today, this kingdom spreads across the eastern state of Orissa in India. Her reign featured in books written in 10th century AD in Persia. She was called a Rayini (a queen) whose rule eclipsed the reigns of her contemporary neighbours (kings in India). Her name is hardly found in any history textbooks today, but her fame had spread far and wide across Asia and Europe amongst her contemporaries. She came to power as a regent (as the heir to the throne was an infant). Her reign of over 20 years was marked by peace (she successfully fended off invasions); prosperity (she built great trade relations with kingdoms as far as Persia in the west and Indonesia in the east); religious tolerance (she donated liberally to the construction of monasteries of temples of many religious sects), and set an example for the subsequent 5 queens who came to throne from the Bhaumakara dynasty. Open up to receive the powerful energies of the 11/11 Gateway in this recorded Divine I AM Transmission from a live event by Vaz & Adya. The 11/11 Gateway is a powerful portal occurring once a year, signifying the Awakening gateway of accelerated motion. Many observe the 11:11 time on clocks, representing an inner activation to a higher frequency - a recognition of being present on the spiritual path. 11 is also a Master number. In numerology the number 1 represents the Magician. When the number is doubled it reflects the amplification of the magician's “powers” or manifestations. Hence 11/11 is noted as a portal for accelerated manifestation. We will be working with this wonderful open gateway to receive higher consciousness downloads. These are higher light frequencies which activate us on multidimensional levels - for development, growth, awakening, inner peace, love. { This is a recording from a live transmission by Vaz & Adya }

Story of this episode: It was a cold morning in July 2020. A crew manning a 46ft boat saw a group of killer whales swimming towards them. They waved towards the friendly orcas, whom they had met many times before. But the orcas were in no mood for a friendly chat. They rammed the boat in full force, chewed pieces of its rudder and pushed the boat around, nearly 180 degrees.As the crew panicked and radio-ed the Coast Guard for assistance, the Coast Guard were unsure if they heard their cries of 'Orca attack. Help!', correctly. Orcas attacking people, when unprovoked, was unheard of till then. After a while, the orcas lost interest in hitting the boat, and went their way. The boat's crew were unhurt and the boat had to be towed to a nearby port in Spain. Since then, more than a dozen boats and ships have been attacked by orcas in the same neighbourhood. Intrigued to find out why? Based on a meditation in Adyashanti's "Guided Meditations," this offering evokes heart connection, restoration, and remembrance of who you are. Adya says "redemptive love comes from the dark womb of the unknown and flows into the core of our being as redemptive grace." He invites us to meet all life, all sorrow, with love. The key to this meditation is to relax into a receptive mode. Simply let the words wash through you, restoring you to wholeness.Music: C. What's been the impact of Covid on kids? On mothers? How about on education? On class division? On our careers? On healthcare? Today I'm welcoming back author and NPR Education Reporter Anya Kamenetz who researched it all and put it into the must-read book The Stolen Year: How Covid Changed Kids' Lives....and Where We Go Now. Her fascinating point: The systems that failed our families, especially the most vulnerable, have been in the making for decades. Wow. But.. she also talks about the negatives that are slowly turning out to be positives. Speaking of positives, I mentioned at the top of the show that I thought I had Covid but...false alarm! Velan Cadden is a movement devotee and has taught in the field of human transformation for nearly two decades. Through his work, he explores the limits, edges, and boundaries of the human experience. The opportunity to listen to Velan speak about quality and presence in practice and the ever-evolving dialogue between the feminine, masculine, and the cycles of nature is an opportunity to expand the soul. In dialogue with Mason, Velan joins us on the podcast delivering potent truths that encourage us to observe our relationships with ourselves, those we walk this life with and above all, Mother Nature, the elements and indigenous wisdom. Velan speaks to the themes of regenerative culture, the reciprocity of energy, honouring natural cycles, and the renewing effects on all of society when women step outside the patriarchal system and have space to stop and be in ceremony when they bleed. This is an inspiring conversation encouraging those who listen to ponder- How do we as individuals and a collective turn towards that which feels uncomfortable? In a society that offers us every reason not to, how do we turn towards ourselves, observe and sit with our actions? Velan and Mason discuss: -Sincere dialogue. -How to shift culture. -Regenerative culture. -The essence of the altar. -The seasons of a woman's cycle. -What a woman's cycle activates in men. -Transformation through consistent practice. -Healthy systems need reciprocal dialogue. -Our relationship with nature and the elements. -Turning towards ourselves; transforming the uncomfortable. -How men can engage with the rhythms of a woman's cycle. -Business system structures that don't align with a woman's cycle. -How do we renovate and renew cycles within our relationships? -Going beyond the habitual movement of practice into the quality of presence. ‘I like seeing people's faces light up when they are doing something they didn't think they could do because I was the same.' 'My name is Adya, I'm originally from Newcastle and I live in The Wirral. I've lived in many places over the years. My parents were first-generation immigrants from South Asia. Growing up I didn't partake in outdoor activities; I began when my friend forced me to try kayaking while I was in Sweden. I've now become a kayaking coach and go five to six times weekly! I also do canoeing and paddle boarding because it's fun to try lots of things (and be bad at some things too)...' Adya takes us on a journey of trials and tribulations and back again. Resources:
Queen Elizabeth II, the oldest reigning British monarch recently passed away. She had ruled Britain for over 70 years and had many firsts to her name. Including, the first monarch to send an email. If the word 'queen' brings to your mind images of a lady declaring wars and riding her army into the battleground, well, this is not the royal duty she discharged. Kings and queens in the modern world don't have the power they had earlier. In this episode, 11-year old Adya explains how they are really different.Now that the queen has passed away, and her son King Charles III has ascended the throne (at the age of 73), does that change anything in the world? How does that affect people like you and me? Or does it only change things in Britain? I'm thrilled to welcome Dr Adya Misra to The Joy of SUP Podcast. I discovered Adya on Twitter and love her passion for coaching other women in SUP + kayaking as well as her commitment to the environment. I also admire how she made a decision to change her research career so that she could incorporate SUP + coaching into her life. There are so many valuable lessons within Adya's story I am honoured to share it.Adya discovered the joy of being out on the water when she moved to Stockholm, Sweden and discovered kayaking in 2014. Being inside a research lab 24x7 left little free time to enjoy her new hobby, so a few years later she decided to change careers and get her weekends back. After kayaking for several years, and craving a challenge while living in a new city, Adya tried paddleboarding in 2019 in Ireland and a few months later bought her own board.She is a flat water kayak coach and loves leading small groups of paddlers at her local canoe club near Liverpool. In the soundbite clip she also shares her joy of paddling in the Liverpool Albert Docks. Adya also blogs about her adventures at Gone Paddling, hoping to inspire other women with full time jobs to try paddlesports while incorporating safety advice for everyone. She is also a British Canoeing #shepaddles Club Champion hoping to improve representation of women at her local canoe club not just as members but in more leadership roles. We cover some really interesting topics around women in paddlesports from both a coaching and participation perspective. I found this really fascinating, in particular around technique and using our bodies in a more effective way. With her paddling, blogging and #shepaddles work, Adya hopes to improve gender, ethnic and neuro-diversity in the paddlesports community.Right at the end of the podcast, Adya also shares her brilliant news with us having recently become a On Planet Patrol Community Guardian. You can follow Adya on Twitter @DrAdyaMisra You can follow her on Instagram @queenadya Read her fabulous blog Gone Paddling.Links here to find out more about British Canoeing and the #ShePaddles campaign and #ShePaddles Club Champions.Read more about On Planet Patrol.Adya talks about paddleboarding in the Albert Docks in Liverpool. You may love the episode with our guest Jayne Rigby from Liverpool SUP Co who teaches SUP there too! Just look for episode no 6 in Apple, Spotify or Stitcher. Thank you for listening! I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I did recording it. I love Adya's commitment to coaching other women and to the environment and how cool is she to change her career to incorporate both!If you have any questions, please do get in touch on thejoyofsuppodcast@gmail.com.Instagram is @thejoyofsuppodcast_Follow #thejoyofsuppodcast on Twitter and InstagramFacebook TheJoyofSUPPodcastWebsite www.jomoseley.comWishing you sunshine and joy, thank you for listening, Jo x Please always put safety first and get the right advice for your training + body. "Life will initiate us whether we like it or not and I think that's the real key, how will we meet that initiation, as a society we are entering a global initiation and whether we like it or not it's coming for us and it's important we prepare for it." In this episode I connect with Velan Cadden, Co-Founder of Sacred Seed. We talk about his path of initiation, the opportunity to grow within our relationships, and how to speak the language of the body to create optimal vitality and health. Velan is passionate about exploring the maps of the body and reconnecting to the sacred element of life through our connection to the earth. His sharing of Yoga and Shaolin energetic arts have been deeply influenced by his study with Master Zhen Hua Yang as well as years of practice of the 5 Rhythms dance discipline. Him and his wife Adya hold Yoga Teacher Trainings internationally in Australia and Costa Rica, weaving the path of yoga with ancient teachings of the earth As a young man, the body for Velan was the doorway to the textures of the present moment, providing him with the awareness and moments of expansion he was yearning to experience on the sporting field. Velan was always seeking to explore the outer edge of his limits, and the best avenue for him to explore them during his teenage years was through running long distance events. Growing up Velan was always physically active - his competitive streak at the time was the foundation for where he found a deeper meaning in his life. Yet as time went by, this began to only scratch the surface of a deeper yearning that was calling him. He was seeking a deeper sense of initiation into manhood, hoping to find it by pushing the psychological limits of his mind, sometimes even experimenting with drugs. In time, Velan's deep rooted desire for initiation lead him to the sacred ceremonial path of vision quest, which is an Indigenous native American tradition where men and women go to connect with the land without food and water for 5 days and 4 nights. Velan describes the depths of his experience within his initiatory process: “Initiation takes you beyond who you think you are, we stand upon the precipice of the unknown, often we feel comfortable moving from the known to the known, or the known to the unknown, but the initiation is the transformation from the unknown to the unknown.” Velan describes how through the act of having no creature comforts (no bed, food, or water) he all of a sudden became witness to the inherent awareness that was moving inside of him all along and was able to connect deeply with his spirit. There were no more distractions and his quest for the truth was paramount to this realisation. Part of Velan's initiation process also involved being designated to work in a Jaguar sanctuary where Jaguars were being rehabilitated to be sent back out into the forest. He describes this a pinnacle turning point within his initiatory process, specifically when he was pinned down to the ground by the Jaguar he was caring for. Velan describes how the richest fruits were birthed during his initiation process - he states that it was in his most challenging moments that he was able to break through the limitations of his mind and surrender into a new field of possibilities. “That thirst for initiation is an inherent frequency that we all carry, to say that I wanted or sought out to do that would be a misunderstanding, it was something that swept me up like a wave." Velan also speaks of the importance of acknowledging the deep connection to woman and the land, and as men, how our ability to pay witness to the feminine energy, deeply correlates with how we are treating the land, our families and the women our lives. He speaks of how one of the deepest bodies of our work is within our relationship to our partners; where a lot of misunderstanding arises, this creates many opportunities for us to uncover what our limitations are so we can meet the deepest...
This Chakra Alignment & Balancing Transmission (recorded by Vaz & Adya) works through each of the 7 major Chakras, connected with the Energetic, Emotional, Mental and Spiritual elements of your Body. The 7 chakras are part of the most commonly known chakra system made of seven energy centers located along the spine and ending in the brain, from the perineum area to the top of the head. The mainstream chakra system is based on a Hindu chakra system that recognises seven distinct “wheels” or “centers” of energy that are perpetually in motion along the human body's spinal column. Each possessing its own colour and vibrational frequency, these wheels are the catalysts of consciousness and human function. They govern various emotional issues, from our survival instincts and self-esteem to our ability to communicate and experience love. A large part of getting to know how to work with your chakras involves chakra balancing. A chakra blockage and imbalance in one or several of 7 chakras can initiate mental, emotional, physical and/or spiritual ailments. Regardless of whether you use chakra stones, crystals, reiki, or another form of vibrational healing to restore chakra balance, being well-versed about chakra systems, their function, and the areas they govern can be invaluable.
Jon Bernie's first awakening experience at the age of sixteen led him to spend many years practicing in the Zen and Theravadan Buddhist traditions, first as a monk in the lineage of Shunryu Suzuki Roshi, and then as an early student of Jack Kornfield's. In the late 1980s, Jon's spiritual trajectory was profoundly altered when he met Jean Klein – master of Advaita Vedanta and Kashmiri Yoga with whom he studied intensively for an extended period. Jon subsequently spent time with H.W.L. Poonja and Robert Adams, both direct disciples of Ramana Maharshi. Jon's spiritual development was also greatly aided by Brother David Steindl-Rast, who, along with Thomas Merton, was one of the first Christian monks to seriously practice in the Zen and Tibetan traditions and has since been instrumental in building interfaith networks worldwide. After Jon met Adyashanti in 2002, his spiritual journey came to fruition, and subsequently Adya asked Jon to teach. In addition to his work as a spiritual teacher, Jon is a certified Zero Balancing practitioner and a teacher of the Alexander Technique in private practice in San Francisco since 1981. Jon's healing work has also been deeply influenced by extensive training in NLP, hypnosis, Self Acceptance Training, cranio-sacral therapy and the Qigong system of Dr. Yu Penxi. In addition to his private practice, Jon has given lectures and workshops for the general public at the Suzuki Method Teacher's Conference, UCSF Medical School, JFK University and the Whole Life Expo. Jon currently leads regular classes, retreats and intensives in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. I'm sorry about the video quality. We had technical problems which we weren't able to surmount. “Adyashanti” means primordial peace. Adyashanti dares all seekers of peace and freedom to take the possibility of liberation in this life seriously. He began teaching in 1996, at the request of his Zen teacher with whom he had been studying for 14 years. Since then many spiritual seekers have awakened to their true nature while spending time with Adyashanti. Adyashanti offers spontaneous and direct nondual teachings that have been compared to those of the early Zen masters and Advaita Vedanta sages. However, Adya says, “If you filter my words through any tradition or ‘-ism', you will miss altogether what I am saying. The liberating truth is not static; it is alive. It cannot be put into concepts and be understood by the mind. The truth lies beyond all forms of conceptual fundamentalism. What you are is the beyond—awake and present, here and now already. I am simply helping you to realize that.” A native of Northern California, Adyashanti lives with his wife, Mukti, and teaches extensively in the San Francisco Bay Area offering satsangs, weekend intensives, and silent retreats. He also travels to teach in other areas of the United States and Canada.
