Manchester City are back at Wembley — and they're not finished yet. On this week's Talking City, Tyrone Marshall and Simon Bajkowski break down another big semi-final win, a huge moment for Rico Lewis, Kovacic's best performance in a City shirt, and the major decisions looming ahead of the FA Cup Final. Inside the episode:
Mateo Kovacic is the latest guest in the hot seat on the Official Man City Podcast… The Croatian midfielder joins hosts Sam Cox and FG as he returns for his second appearance on the podcast. Kovacic starts with a look back at his arrival in the summer of 2023 and what it was like joining a City team that had just landed the Treble. And he explains what it is like walking into a dressing room full of superstars having also done so at former clubs Inter, Real Madrid and Chelsea. In an incredible career, the 30-year-old has won the Champions League four times, La Liga and the Premier League as well as playing in a World Cup. But he also explains that he often focuses on the negatives of his game rather than looking back at his phenomenal achievements. And in another fascinating and wide-ranging chat, Mateo also talks about how the dynamic in the changing rooms has evolved over the years, scoring spectacular goals and some of the great players he's shared the pitch with. It's time for The Truth! With Manchester City coming into the international break having lost four games in a row for the first time under Pep Guardiola, Sam Tighe and Dougie Critchley take a deep dive into what exactly is going on in the blue side of Manchester, and if they can recover their sparkling form to win a fifth title in a row.Whilst the injuries to key players - namely Rodri and Kevin de Bruyne - have obviously played a huge role in this poor streak, is there something deeper going on? Pep has always liked to work with a smaller squad than usual, but have they pushed the boundaries too far in not finding adequate replacements for key men in a time of strife? There's also further questions - have City gone too hard on bringing in players who can create within the system and left them short in terms of goalscoring options outside of Erling Haaland? And why has John Stones not really been utilised in defensive midfield given the obvious deficiencies there in Rodri's absence? So, is this a question of poor squad planning finally getting the better of Manchester City's tight-knit unit? Is Pep being too stubborn with his choices in playing an aging midfield who look physically deficient? Or are City maybe not quite as good as they were last year? The Truth is somewhere in the middle...

Mateo Kovacic is the latest guest on the Official Man City Podcast. The Croatia international has already enjoyed a career most footballers can only dream of. At 29, he has represented Dinamo Zagreb, Inter, Real Madrid and Chelsea before moving to Manchester earlier this year. During that time, the midfielder has won an incredible 18 major honours including four Champions League trophies. That's not to mention a runners-up finish at the 2018 World Cup before coming third in last year's edition. Now he's part of a City squad seeking to follow in the footsteps of our historic Treble winning campaign. And he's made a strong start to life at the Etihad, playing 14 times as City have set the early pace in the Premier League and guaranteed safe passage to the knockout stages of the Champions League. Despite all of his prior experience, Kovacic admits in this podcast that he's learning every day from working with Pep Guardiola. Sitting down with hosts Rob Pollard and Paul Dickov, he recounts tales from his spells with some of Europe's biggest clubs and what it was that attracted him to Manchester. Then he delves deep into how life at City helps get the best out of footballers and his hopes for his time in sky blue. It's an episode not to be missed!

Naomi started grief counselling prepared to run for cover as soon as her therapist, Mia, pulled out a crystal or tried to align her chakras. When Mia suggests that she join a support group, Naomi is sceptical: how could she begin to describe what it felt like to lose her sister, Jo? How could she possibly share her loss and rage to a room full of people? How could she express her helplessness that Jo's killer walks free on a suspended sentence? And how could she share her deepest desire to see Jo's killer dead by her hand? In the group sessions, Naomi finds that her experiences and her anger are shared between the other members: Gabrielle, Brooke, Katy, Olivia and Amy. Under the enigmatic leadership of Mia, a plan begins to take shape. I'll kill yours if you kill mine ... 'A love letter to Hitchcock and Highsmith, fuelled by women's rage. Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Alex Churchill to welcome Super Frankie Lampard back with a massive joyous hug as the legend returns for his second stint as Chelsea manager. In part one, Frankie Goes to Boehlywood!! We discuss what could well be a very shrewd move by the club, but is there footballing sense to it or is it just good PR to keep the supporters off their back? With the appointment of Lampard and his coaching staff of Ashley Cole, Joe Edwards, Chris Jones and Paul Clements are the club rightly de-Brightonising and re-Chelseafying things? What will it mean for the squad – Mount, James, Gallagher, Pulisic, Ziyech and Kepa in particular? And where are we with the various new manager rumours - Nagelsmann, Enrique, Pochettino, Mourinho, Conte, Gallardo…even Lampard? In part two we look back at the 0-0 draw against LIverpool. Bruno at least played players in their right positions and set up with a 5 man midfield. Kante was excellent and it was so good to see him back. Chelsea created chances, couldn't score any goals of course and Havertz and Kovacic were particularly inept, whilst Liverpool were hilariously very poor, but was 0-0 a fair result? In part two we look ahead to Wolves v Chelsea, starting with Chidge's team selection. Will Frank go full English and play those he knows well? Will he go with four at the back or stay with three? How can Frank get Chelsea scoring? Will he leave big holes at the back? Wolves can't score, we can't score, does the match have 0-0 written all over it? We wrap up with our predictions. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Martin Wickham to look back at a frustrating draw against Everton at the Bridge. In part one we ask why did Potter shut up shop at 1-0? Was it Brightonesque or an attempt at game management? We look at the substitutions. Gallagher for Pulisic? Why not Mudryk? Cheek for Kovacic and Chalobah for Fofana - understandable but Chukwuemeka for Felix? In part two we look at the poor defending by Koulibaly and Kepa's errors for Everton's 2nd goal. The result was frustrating and felt like a defeat and it seems like when Chelsea don't win the negativity starts. However, Chelsea looked fluid for much of the match, although still profligate and the defence was immense bar the two errors for the goals. So, are we getting in a stew about nothing? Are Chelsea beginning to gel? Are key players returning making a difference? And are Kovacic and Fernandes becoming the glue that holds it together and if so how does Kante fit in?In part two we discuss the new arrivals getting better. We bemoan VAR the 'Karma Killer' with no-one celebrating Havert's superb goal. Also, VAR letting us down with the terrible foul on Felix going unpunished.
