On this episode, we discuss the value of using live, interactive social media simulation for a realistic experience during crisis training exercises.  We're joined by Geoff Paddock, a journalist-turned-communications expert based in the UK, who brings a wealth of experience in the nuclear and chemical sectors. With Geoff we dissect how digital crisis simulations provide an unparalleled level of realism and urgency that paper-based methods can't match. Our discussion takes you behind the scenes of tailoring high-stakes simulations to an organization's specific nightmare scenarios, helping teams plan their communication strategies in a safe training environment. We discuss the STORM simulation platform, which Geoff pioneered and operates for crisis training exercises with clients around the world. For more information on the STORM platform and crisis simulations, you can reach Geoff Paddock via email at: geoff@gpmedia.co.uk.Other contacts for podcast information:Tom Mueller - tom@leadinginacrisis.comMarc Mullen - marcmullenccc@gmail.com

Today the role of the emergency and business continuity manager includes outreach to all of the stakeholders in the organization and the community. Sharing information in the past was static, gamification can bring the audience to the emergency manager and interaction with stakeholders to a new level.Gamification adds game-like elements to non-game situations to promote action and behavior change. It can come in multiple forms. There is regular gamification, adding story elements, badges, and scores where they would not normally be. Think online code schools or brain trainers. These boost activity by challenging the students in their own space and making learning more fun. The draw is either a personal challenge or the interest of completing a story. The Business Continuity ShowTwitter - https://bit.ly/3ojEIO2Facebook - https://bit.ly/2Tjqv5HLinkedIn - https://bit.ly/34mXyfzYouTube - https://bit.ly/3mePJyGAwards:https://blog.feedspot.com/business_continuity_podcasts/Sister ShowsEM Student Web - https://bit.ly/2Hw0sFxTwitter - https://bit.ly/31z8MeXFacebook - https://bit.ly/3dMlbRPLinkedIn - https://bit.ly/34mXyfzYouTube - https://bit.ly/2FQDhWdEM WeeklyWebsite - https://bit.ly/3jj5ItlTwitter - https://bit.ly/31z8MeXFacebook - https://bit.ly/3dMlbRPLinkedIn - https://bit.ly/34mXyfzYouTube - https://bit.ly/2FQDhWd

The Questions for today: Below are some definitions of the illness we are talking about today. Please click the highlighted link to go to the website where the information was found. “Is schizophrenia multiple personality disorder?” Schizophrenia:Schizophrenia is a chronic and severe mental disorder that affects how a person thinks, feels, and behaves. People with schizophrenia may seem like they have lost touch with reality. Although schizophrenia is not as common as other mental disorders, the symptoms can be very disabling. Dissociative identity disorder:Formerly known as multiple personality disorder, this disorder is characterized by alternating between multiple identities. A person may feel like one or more voices are trying to take control in their head. Often these identities may have unique names, characteristics, mannerisms and voices. People with DID will experience gaps in memory of every day events, personal information and trauma. Women are more likely to be diagnosed, as they more frequently present with acute dissociative symptoms. Men are more likely to deny symptoms and trauma histories, and commonly exhibit more violent behavior, rather than amnesia or fugue states. This can lead to elevated false negative diagnosis. “What is Schizoaffective Disorder?” Schizoaffective disorder is a chronic mental health condition characterized primarily by symptoms of schizophrenia, such as hallucinations or delusions, and symptoms of a mood disorder, such as mania and depression. Music used in this episode is the song Teamwork by Scott Holmes from the Free Music Archive.
