Harry and Rafe discuss shoveling snow as a lead-in to a discussion of work, leisure, and riding both sides of the road, as Chesterton would suggest, and doing both the working and playing very well.Along the way they discuss all manners of Bufnagley things, including one of the Great Song by Dan Fogelberg, one that, in particular, mentions the snow turning into rain...*****As always, you can reach the Buf at bufnagle@bufnagle.com*****As you know, this is an independent podcast so your hosts also carry all the expenses of running this podcast. On the third Sunday of Advent, Father Eric Snyder preaches from the Old Testament passage of Zephaniah 3:14-20.
"The fruits of accepting a true master are immense. Unfortunately, true teachers are few and difficult to find... A spiritual master who is wise, pure and a practitioner of the Yoga of Divine Sound gradually imparts his or her virtues to the student. The good will of the spiritual teacher cannot but help affecting the aspirant in a positive manner because one is affected by the power of a higher vibration." (Maharshi Mehi, The Philosophy of Liberation) My Ode to the Sant Satguru: In Praise of the Sant-soul of love who has reached the Spiritual Realm above, and merged in God. Hail to the Competent Living Master, the Qualified Teacher, rare to find in this world, so few and far between, the True One, a genuine mentor of souls, righteous and worthy Guide, a Fearless Being, Light-giver, leader of a spiritual community. With gratitude to the Competent Living One! In a Sea of Samsara -- illusion and world of changes, of falsehood and posing, there is a bright Light in the darkness. A silent Music becomes audible. At the feet of such a Loving, Radiant One, the soul can not help but find inner Light and slip into deep samadhi meditation. In the eyes of a Saint are love, wisdom, light, compassion, grace, a reflection of God in this realm of the material plane. The Master-Power connects the soul with the Supreme Lord of Love. Remember that song you loved...until it became the cheesy jingle for a car insurance ad? Join Pete and Tom as they lament the ways beloved tunes get hijacked by corporate marketing and other contexts before turning the conversation towards what it means when artists ‘sell out'.

It's not every day that songs fall out of us like divine gifts, but today was one of them. I've been working with Acuna, from Brazil for a number of years now. He's a fantastic underground Drum and Bass DJ/Producer. We've been trying to find time to work on more projects together and he sent me a track just before I made my way out to LA at the start of this year. We often talk about setting aside time in order to write songs, so that's just what I did. I didn't plan to write the song this quickly but when given strict boundaries it's funny how our creative brains can work. In this episode I take you behind the scenes of what happens when I write top lines and I dive into the details of how I like to go about the creative process. We talk lyrics, structure, imagery, melodies and I stumble across something pretty cool regarding how I like to write melody. We've all been through some situations in life where we've called out to God and asked for his helping hand. My friend has done a song that does just that. Yet, it's more than just another song asking for help. You can feel the power of this song, turned into a prayer much stronger than Frolo trying to find Esmeralda. Unlike Frolo, my friend is a great preacher. He has lived his life as honoestly as he can before God and has been waiting patiently on him. Just as with Job, great people go through great things. He recently lost his father and is simply asking God for what he needs the most. He needs his help. I hope that you will check out and if you feel led to, purchase his song. He's a great musician and has been excellent to hus family. He's finally on all major platforms and I'm so excited for him. https://artists.landr.com/adprince --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/sunflowerj/message

There's a misconception that great production can make up for a bad song. Especially in the fast-paced realm of music licensing, it's easy to overlook the fundamental role that the song itself plays. Returning guest host Josh Doyle and host Mike Meiers debunk the myth and emphasize the importance of a strong starting point. In this episode Josh and Mike chat on the telltale signs of a great song, how you can identify those hidden gems as well as insightful tips and strategies to help you hone your discerning ear.

J.P. Moser and Rob Alley of the excellent Great Song Podcast joined me this week to explore a unique topic. The three of us all selected five songs that were the second singles released from their respective albums that we loved more than that record's first single. The caveat to the topic was that us liking that first single was a requirement. This turned out to be a lot of fun and I think we got a nice mixture of different kinds of songs. Check out our picks and let me know what your favorite second singles are! The guys also talked about how they got started doing their show and tell listeners a little bit about it.
