Limited in availability, this special offer guarantees fans a unique and collectible addition to their music memorabilia, making it a must-have while supplies last.Renowned as the untamed force behind Lynyrd Skynyrd, Artimus Pyle's impactful double bass drumming was instrumental in defining the band's iconic sound. His breakthrough moment came at the Charlie Daniels Volunteer Jam, where his authoritative drumming, initially credited simply as "Artimus Pyle, percussion," captured widespread attention. Further establishing himself as a sought-after session drummer, Pyle connected with acts such as Charlie Daniels and the Marshall Tucker Band, eventually crossing paths with Ronnie Van Zant and Ed King at Studio One in Doraville, Georgia. This fateful encounter paved the way for the creation of Saturday Night Special, leaving an indelible mark on Ronnie. Making his live debut at Jacksonville's Sgt Pepper's Club in October 1974, Pyle assumed the role of Skynyrd's drummer following the release of Second Helping, contributing to the band's subsequent four albums, including the legendary Street Survivors. Pyle survived the band's tragic 1977 plane crash that took six lives, including Steve and Cassie Gaines, along with the band's leader, Ronnie Van Zant."This project has been a year in the making, but when the fans hear it they will understand why it took so long," says Len Snow, Get Joe Records president. "Artimus is legendary within the Southern Rock space. The music that Lynyrd Skynyrd made will always live as a part of rock history. This album honors that music and gives Artimus a way to honor his former bandmates." He would replace their original drummer (Bob Burns) following the release of the group's second album, Second Helping, and performed with the band and on Skynyrd's subsequent four albums,Nuthin' Fancy, Gimme Back My Bullets, Street Survivors, and their live album, One More for the Road. Pyle was injured but survived the band's 1977 horrific plane crash that abruptly ended the lives of six people, including band members Steve and Cassie Gaines, and most notably, frontman and musical visionary Ronnie Van Zant.In 1979, the band began to reunite, first for the 5th Annual Charlie Daniels Volunteer Jam, and eventually, as the Rossington Collins Band (which included all the remaining band members and Pyle, plus Dale Krantz on lead vocals and Barry Lee Harwood on guitar). However, shortly after that, Pyle was in a car accident that broke his leg in 21 places and shattered his hopes of remaining with the group. Pyle spent the next three years healing, both physically and emotionally, before returning to the States and establishing the Artimus Pyle Band (A.P.B.) to honor the music and legacy of Ronnie Van Zant.In 1987, Pyle rejoined his former bandmates to tour and eventually record as Lynyrd Skynyrd 1991, but the experience left him flat. While he deeply loved them, he no longer felt the magic he once did with Van Zant at the helm, nor was he interested in returning to the party lifestyle for which the band was known and stepped away from the group permanently, only to return in 2006 during Lynyrd Skynyrd's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (where he played alongside Bob Burns). Now in his 70s, Pyle still continues to honor Van Zant's musical legacy, recording and touring with the Artimus Pyle Band, now comprised of Pyle (drums), Scott Raines (guitar/vocals), Jerry Lyda (guitar) Brad Durden (keyboards/vocals), and Dave Fowler (bass).https://artimuspyleband.com/https://www.amazon.com/Anthems-Honoring-Music-Lynyrd-Skynyrd/dp/B0CKH9X2WHBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/i-am-refocused-radio--2671113/support.

ABOUT JERRY KRAMER AND RUN TO WIN "You can if you will." A phrase uttered to a young Jerry Kramer by his line coach at Sandpoint High School in tiny Sandpoint, Idaho, that would go on to push him to a celebrated NFL career with the Green Bay Packers and a sentiment that he would repeat to close his speech at his long awaited enshrinement into the Pro Football Hall of Fame almost seven decades later in 2018.In the spirit of Jerry Kramer's unforgettable and bestselling collaborations with the great Dick Schaap, his first book about his life and career in over two decades, Run to Win will serve as Kramer's definitive statement about a remarkable life and career of perseverance, teamwork, and gridiron greatness. Spanning the beginning of the legendary Vince Lombardi era through Kramer's confoundingly long wait to receive his bust in Canton, Kramer tells his amazing story as one of the most memorable and toughest Packers in franchise history. Including insightful commentary about the eminently intriguing Lombardi, as well as fellow Hall of Fame teammates Jim Taylor, Forrest Gregg, Willie Davis, Bart Starr, Emlen Tunnell, and many more, Run to Win is a must read for all true Packers fans from one of the legends who helped lay the foundation for one of the most identifiable and successful franchises in the history of professional sports. JERRY KRAMER BIO Jerry Kramer overcame a series of childhood injuries to become an excellent football ball player at the University of Idaho. The guard was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the fourth round (39th player overall) of the 1958 NFL Draft. He starred for the Green Bay Packers from 1958 to 1968, playing most of his 11-season career under the direction of Hall of Fame coach Vince Lombardi.Upon his entry into the NFL, he soon was hailed as one of the best blockers in the game and earned his first All-NFL acclaim in 1960, the same year the Packers lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL Championship Game -- Kramer's only career postseason loss.He continued his high level of play all while overcoming several debilitating injuries. In 1961, he missed several games due to a broken ankle that required a permanent pin to heal. Then, in 1964, he missed most of the season due to intestinal infections from wood splinters in his abdomen that required eight surgeries to rectify. In each instance, he returned to All-NFL form.Kramer played 130 games as the Packers guard and served as the team's placekicker for several seasons. His leadership and talents helped the franchise capture five NFL championships and victories in Super Bowls I and II.At the time of his retirement in 1968, he held the NFL Championship Game record for most field goal attempts in a game (five against the New York Giants in 1962) and the Packers' team record for most PATs in a season (43 in 1963).He earned All-NFL acclaim five times (1960, 1962-63, 1966-67) and was voted to three Pro Bowls. Kramer was also named to the NFL's All-Decade Team of the 1960s, the NFL's 50th Anniversary Team in 1969 and the Super Bowl Silver Anniversary Team.Get the book here: https://www.amazon.com/Run-Win-Packers-Lombardi-Canton/dp/1637273002

Ep 25: 1985 - Reining Looks Back To Move Forward with John Snobelen NRHA Hall of Fame Member

Cowboy Office Show

Maneuver scoring was implemented for the first time and reining and the working western industry was changed. Is it time for a new revolution? Some years become pivotal points in history. The equine industry, the working western world, and the reining industry can look at 1985 as the year everything changed. What was this industry altering catalyst?  The introduction of the new reining scoring system. Until this point, judging was subjective with seemingly arbitrary scores assigned based on one judge's opinion at the end of the run. With the introduction of this new officiating system, a standard would be set, education would become required, and scores would be derived from a maneuver by maneuver objective evaluation. Soon the entire horse industry would embrace the revolutionary system and virtually all pattern classes would develop a maneuver scoring system. Judges in all disciplines would become trained observers rather than individuals offering their arbitrary opinions. Today's Guest: John Snobelen:  The mind, teacher and mentor to the reining officiating system  NRHA Hall of Fame (1994) Non Pro & owner Mentor, judge, innovator Past Minister of Education for the province of Ontario “If we were wine - we would be good by now  -  fine &  priceless.” John Snobelen - 2023  The Show Rundown In this episode, Brian Dygert and Jody Brainard reflect with John Snobelen about the innovative mindset the leaders of the reining industry used to create the NRHA judging system. They look at 1985 as a focal point to find lessons we can use today. Reining Judging System The judging system has worked for 38 years. Or has it? The industry is three times bigger than it was in 1985. Competition has evolved but the judging system has not. What was once innovative is now outdated. Is it time for a system update? The judging system needs to be able to handle the highly evolved levels of competition. The industry continues to get better, horses are more dynamic, fine distinctions separate the winning runs, and technical skills continue to elevate competition.  Brian and Jody ask these questions to special guest John Snobelen and he provides unorthodox and unexpected answers.  John, who spent a career studying leadership, change, and courage, offers perspective not just on the tools needed for reining judges, but on human behavior, judging performance, and that improvement itself may not be enough. Challenges the Officiating System Needs to Handle Multiple Levels Running all levels (1-4 in Aged events) concurrently creates inconsistent results Consider the difference between a Rookie 70 and an Open 70 Re-evaluate the standard from the bottom up Depth of Competition It takes a 220 or better to make the finals in major events, like the 100x Reining in Tulsa Winning runs average 226-230 Volume of entries creates classes lasting multiple days Focus fatigue, consistency spread over multiple days Need more tools to make fine distinctions (½ points are not enough) Challenges the Industry Needs to Consider Economics of earnings Purse distribution Industry growth and development Continued Education Officiating Management Politics & Economic pressures Change Management Keep Your Questions Coming Email questions to exec@cowboyoffice.com. Before there was Led Zeppelin, before Jimmy Page first bowed his electric guitar or worked his magic on the theremin, there was The Yardbirds—the legendary 1960s British psychedelic blues band that launched the careers of three of rock's greatest guitarists: Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Jimmy Page.   In this special episode of Rock is Lit, one of the original members of The Yardbirds joins me, and I couldn't be more excited. Drummer and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Jim McCarty is here.   Jim is recognized world-wide for the innovative drumming style he introduced in the 1960s on songs that are now classics, such as “For Your Love,” “Heart Full of Soul,” “Shapes of Things,” “The Train Kept A-Rollin',” “You're a Better Man Than I,” “Over Under Sideways Down,” and “Happenings Ten Years Time Ago.”   Since the end of The Yardbirds in the ‘60s, Jim has formed a number of successful bands and released three solo albums of his own songs. He is the author of the book ‘Nobody Told Me: My Life with the Yardbirds, Renaissance and Other Stories', published in 2018, and the 2021 book ‘She Walks In Beauty: My Quest For The Bigger Picture', both written with Dave Thompson.   Rock is Lit is a podcast about rock novels, and I'd originally contacted Jim to be a guest in the episode celebrating the audiobook release of my rock novel, ‘Searching for Jimmy Page', but we were not able to make that happen. Later, after that episode aired and after I read Jim's book ‘She Walks In Beauty', inspired by the loss of his beloved wife, Lizzie, and his quest to connect with her following her death, AND after Jim and I finally did make contact and scheduled an interview, I decided to devote an entire episode to him.   In this episode, we talk about Jim's family and childhood during WWII-torn Britain, his music career and experience as a member of The Yardbirds, his interest in and exploration of the paranormal and spirituality, his endearing and enduring relationship with Lizzie, and ‘She Walks In Beauty', the fascinating book that details that relationship as well as Jim's quest for the bigger picture, as the book's subtitle states.   The interview is uncut and only minimally edited. The year was 1977. Star Wars made its debut… the Apple II computer was released… Elvis Presley passed away at age 42… our hometown Denver Broncos experienced their “miracle season” on the way to the Super Bowl… Chuck E. Cheese pizza opens their first location…and disco was nearing it's peak in popularity. But something else happened that year that may have influenced the world more than any of these: the first wearable heartrate monitor was developed for the Finnish National Cross Country ski team by Polar. That development changed the way both professional and amateur athletes trained and kicked the door open to our current “wearables,” which now provide more physiological data on our wrist than a room full of hospital gizmos could do just a few decades ago.Welcome to latest episode of the Catalyst 360 Podcast – your trusted resource for engaging, evidence-based health, wellness & performance insights.  Today's guest is one of the trailblazers in the application of that heart rate data – Sal Edwards. I have her ground-breaking book from the mid-90s on the practical use of heart-rate monitors on my bookshelf and was thrilled when she agreed to join us today. But when I began preparing for this interview, her background exploded off the pages of my notes. Yes – she's a leader in the world of HR monitoring and that's where we'll focus our discussion. But she's also a serial entrepreneur, founding Fleet Feet – the largest chain of retail sports shops, has written 24 books and 500 articles, and was a professional triathlete, ultra runner, won the Western States 100 miler and is a member of the Triathlon Hall of Fame. And, her 4-person cycling team won the 1997 Race Across America in 7 ½ days, within just a few hours of the time it took us to win the event in 2015. So plenty of rabbit trails available to us today

It's been 37 years since he reached the apex of the sport, mining three gold medals at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles. In the time since, he has etched out a highly successful broadcasting career and has been a model of unselfishness, whether providing youth clinics, through his fundraising efforts or simply promoting the sport.   His given name is Ambrose Gaines. Those who have been around the deck know him by one name: Rowdy.   Often referred to as “Swimming's Greatest Ambassador”, Ambrose “Rowdy” Gaines didn't start swimming until he was 17, but improved rapidly within two years to earn a swimming scholarship to Auburn University. Gaines had broke 11 world records leading up to 1980 and was favored to dominate his events at the Olympic Games Moscow 1980, but the United States boycotted the Games that year.   Despite taking a year-long hiatus from swimming upon thinking his athletic career might be over, Gaines returned to the water in 1981 and made the U.S. team for the Olympic Games Los Angeles 1984. He won an individual gold medal in the 100-meter freestyle and anchored the gold-medal winning teams for the 400 freestyle relay and 400 medley relay.   Despite being inflicted with a life-threatening neurological disorder at the age of 31, Gaines made a comeback to his sport and was the oldest swimmer to qualify for the 1996 Olympic Trials at 35.
