Some early handicapping tips for Kentucky Derby 2024, an insider's look at one of the contenders in the race and some handicapping for this weekend's Preakness 2024 qualifiers are front and center on this week's Ron Flatter Racing Pod. National Horseplayers Championship winner Mike Gillum checks in from Indianapolis with his five horses whom he counts among the most likely winners of the Derby. Here is a hint. Two of them are not obvious choices. In other words, long shots. Trainer Whit Beckman talks about Honor Marie, his first Derby horse in his name. He also remembers when he was an assistant on the teams that Todd Pletcher and Chad Brown led to past Derby accomplishments as Super Saver's 2010 win and Good Magic's 2018 runner-up result. He also discusses who may ride Honor Marie on May 4 at Churchill Downs. Mark Midland is in the handicappers rotation to offer his tips on the Federico Tesio at Laurel Park, a Pick 3 that starts with the Bathhouse Row at Oaklawn and the Illinois Derby at Hawthorne. The three stakes are win-and-you're-ins for the Preakness. John Cherwa joins Ron to dissect the court ruling in favor of Churchill Downs Inc. in the Zedan Racing Stables' lawsuit that failed for now to get Arkansas Derby (G1) winner Muth and trainer Bob Baffert into next month's Kentucky Derby. The Ron Flatter Racing Pod via Horse Racing Nation is available via free subscription from Apple, Firefox, iHeart and Spotify as well as HorseRacingNation.com. This week's episode is sponsored by Xpressbet. For information on Sunday's Illinois Derby day handicapping contest, go to xpressbet.com/tournaments.

Yesterday I was clever, So, I wanted to change the world Today I am wise So, I am changing myself by RUMI Barbara's method of teaching little humans is to intentionally create a safe, creative environment where the individual's intrinsic needs and goals are supported in harmony with the needs and goals of the group. Partly in jest, I've labeled it the GFP Method – a creative blend of Glinda the Good, Ms. Frazzle the Fantastic, with a touch of Patton the Powerful for good measure. However, her methods use the essence of all those beings and more! In this episode we discuss transitions, dealing with change – which has been such a challenge during the last few months – and Barbara's masterful techniques of transforming the energy and atmosphere of a classroom or home environment. A couple of anecdotes show how Barbara's light-hearted, perceptive approach magically changed the energy of intense situations bringing peace and harmony. Insightful Gems – SunGems – are delightfully shared!

We’ve been trying to get Tony Chang on the podcast for a long time and it’s finally happened! Jonah and Tony spent some time together and NYC recently. But this is the first time we have had the chance to talk to him about his history. Tony first fell in love with magic when he saw a clown magician as a kid. He got curious and he went to the public library in Idaho, where he grew up and found some books. They were incredibly discouraging. So he turned to some magic rooms on IRC in the early days of the internet. He ordered a Hank Lee book and read it repeatedly. His goal with magic is to create something incredible with imperfect means. You can create an illusion using blunt mechanics to achieve something impossible. The post Making Good Magic Great with Tony Chang appeared first on Discourse in Magic.

This week was a busy one for the Walt Disney Company, almost each day something special was announced. Even in this exciting time, there is sadness. A hero has fallen. Talking Points: Lightning McQueen is f--king dead, Moana soundtrack, Beauty and the Beast trailer, DestinationDick, Avatarland news, Hong Kong expansion, Expensive park upgrades for the dirty rich, and Happy Birthday Mickey. Editor's Note: Hey, Jordynn here. I edit and co-host All in Good Magic. I had to drag myself out of embarrassment hell to edit this week's episode because I every single time I say Moana I say Moanna. It sounds weird and it isn't her name. I also did this to Princess Elena. I have no idea why, I'm very sorry. Especially to myself because I had to listen to it 400 times. Lightning McQueen's funeral music: Amazing Grace covered by Kevin MacLeod and St Andrews Church Bell by Dent. dynn
