Alabama state abortion law

I know we talked about it a little bit before, but let's do it again. Idaho, Texas, Oklahoma, South Carola South Dakota, Iowa, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana, West Virginia, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and Florida all have banned abortion at conception or after six weeks. Well, the South Carolina Supreme Court recently upheld that here in South Carolina. Joining us right now is representative John McCravy, who is, very excited about this bill. Representative McCravy, welcome to the program. Hope you're doing well. Thank you, Charlie. Thanks for having me on. So it was I mean, that was good news from the Supreme Court, five to zero, upholding it. Right? It was. And and it was a good common sense opinion. It took them 27 pages to say that if you hear the heartbeat, the baby is protected. So so but but it was a good decision. And, you know, one of the things that the family caucus and I have worked hard on is to make sure we get conservative judges Right. Who don't don't replace their opinion for our constitution and for for law. Is it let me ask you something. I mean, is are there changes that need to be made to the South Carolina constitution about abortion? You know, that's a that's an issue. We we don't have in South Carolina. We do not have, that type of those type of laws that they have in California where they just willy nilly change the constitution. We'd have to have a two thirds vote of both bodies to even get to that. But we're elected and we're supposed to go down there and do what our people elect us to do. And so that's what we we try to do, you know? And and I wanna say this, Charlie, and I I know, you know, I I I was the author of the heartbeat bill originally, and I I authored a lot of the changes to it that that are in there now. But I wanna say this, the heartbeat bill was never written to be the final bill for South Carolina. The final bill that we wrote for it and representative Magnuson was on the committee, that you had on earlier. He's been a a staunch supporter of life from day one. But but we wrote something called the Human Life Protection Act that is that is still sitting in the house judiciary along with about 10 other good bills. So we've we've got to we've got to keep fighting because we're still having 2,000 babies a year aborted for birth control in South Carolina. Right. So it's it's a time to say, okay. This is great, but we can't stop there. We can't we can't allow that many children to be killed in South Carolina. And so we're gonna continue to fight for that. I'm never gonna give up fighting for that. You know that, Charlie. Oh, I absolutely know that. So let me ask something. What is the difference between the bill we have now and the Human Life Protection Act? The Human Life Protection Act would protect babies in the womb. If if a woman is pregnant, that baby is protected. Mhmm. So it would take it back basically to conception, but but at least it would protect any baby that is in the womb. So now for birth control. Now, you know, the whether the exceptions come in, that's another issue, by a lot of different things. But but we don't want birth control to be applied to living babies. Like the abortion pill? That's right. And and and all other types as well. That's right. That's right. Charlie, they they're sending those things in. That's another whole story I could talk about for an hour. Yeah. But but we have a lot of bad things going on. But but, you know, what I wanna emphasize is let's please get the Human Life Protection Act out of that house judiciary committee along with a lot of other good things that need to come out, like closing the primaries, house judiciary Right. Ranked choice voting, house judiciary, student privacy act, keeping men out of girls' lives, house judiciary, punishing preventing parents from being punished from affirming their own biological sex with their child. Yeah. House judiciary. Changing the sex on the ...

Send us a textJoin us as we navigate the complex terrain of pro-life legislation in South Carolina, with Dr. Matt Clark, an allergist and Pastor committed to the Pro-life movement. We dissect four pivotal bills, including the Human Life Protection Act and the Unborn Child Protection Act, with a spotlight on the comprehensive yet divisive Prenatal Equal Protection Act. Together, we confront the thorny issue of criminalizing women who seek abortions, drawing thought-provoking parallels to historical legal cases of child murder outside the womb. Our discussion unravels the ethical intricacies and legislative challenges these bills present, inviting you to consider the broader implications on society. In our pursuit of life and justice, we delve into the advocacy behind the Prenatal Equal Protection Act, designed to eradicate abortion in South Carolina while aligning with biblical and constitutional tenets. Personal stories from abortion clinics are shared, underscoring the use of abortion as a form of birth control and the belief that criminalizing those involved, especially doctors, could deter these practices. We compare the Unborn Child Protection Act's potential criminal penalties with the Human Life Protection Act's unconditional immunity for women, arguing for holding women accountable as moral agents. As we conclude, we extend an invitation to engage with Jackson Family Ministry through our book, speaking engagements, and online channels. It's Friday, November 11th, A.D. 2022. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. By Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) Muslim terrorists kill 3 in Congo, Africa In the Democratic Republic of Congo, Africa, the Muslim Allied Democratic Forces killed three people, including a one-month-old baby, in the early morning of November 9th, reports International Christian Concern. The Islamic terrorists looted and burned a hospital in the city of Kabasha along with several other shops and lit several vehicles on fire. One resident said, “We were woken up in the middle of the night by gunshots in the air and people screaming. We did not hesitate. We left the house and hid in the bushes, hoping they would not find us. The attack lasted almost an hour as the rebels ransacked shops and the health center and set them on fire. They also burnt down vehicles.” According to Open Doors, Congo is the 40th most dangerous country for Christians in the world. 2 Timothy 3:12 says, “All who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.” Pro-life, Republican Governors won re-election bids Some key Republican governors doubled down on their pro-life values and saw success at the polls on Tuesday, reports The Washington Stand. Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, Texas Governor Greg Abbott, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, and Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds each championed life from six weeks on by signing a heartbeat bill. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed into law protections for unborn life after 15 weeks. Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt signed HB 4327 this year, protecting life from conception. Alabama Governor Kay Ivey signed off on her state's Human Life Protection Act. New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu and Idaho Governor Brad Little signed into law protections for life after the unborn baby's viability at 24 weeks. Each one of those nine Republican governors, who signed key pro-life bills into law, won handily on Tuesday. Kari Lake, GOP candidate for Arizona Governor, is 100% confident Appearing on the Glenn Beck radio program, Kari Lake, the Republican candidate for Arizona Governor, said the Leftists are trying to control the narrative by counting the votes painfully slowly. LAKE: “I think what we've learned in the past several election cycles is that our election officials can control the narrative. It's real easy, by the amount of votes they release. That's what we have going on here. It's been politicized.” Lake said she was 100% confident that she will win the election when they finally count all the votes. LAKE: “We are going to win. I'm 100% confident in that! I'm looking right now at the latest numbers I got. There are 622,000 votes left to be counted here in Arizona, and they're slow rolling to count more than 24 hours past the election. Yesterday, they only counted just over 60,000 votes.” BECK: “How is that possible?” LAKE: “This is outrageous! They're doing this intentionally, in my opinion. They're not speeding this up as they should. And let me just tell you why we're going to win. “There are 384,414 Election Day mail-in ballot drop-offs. Now, these are the people who don't trust bringing it down and putting it in one of those drop boxes. These are the people who don't necessarily trust even the Postal Service with their mail-in ballot. They walked it into a polling place on Election Day.” BECK: “Wow!” LAKE: “We already know those are going to trend heavily toward us, two to one, maybe even three to one. There's a huge majority left to be counted there. “We also have 17,000 ‘Drawer Three.' Those were the ones who when they showed up at their polling place on Election Day, ‘Oh wow! The machines aren't working. Just put your ballot over here in Draw Number Three.' And we have a provisional ballots -- 16,000. These are ballots, the vast majority that are to be counted, that are going to go heavily to us. BECK: “Right.” LAKE: “And we know we're going to win this. They're trying to delay the inevitable. They wanted to write the obituary of the America First movement on election night.” Proof Democrats cheated in Pennsylvania It would appear, based on undercover footage captured by Project Veritas, that Democratic operatives were illegally electioneering in Pennsylvania, reports The Blaze. James O'Keefe, the founder, said this. O'KEEFE: “Project Veritas Action journalists were told who to vote for just mere feet outside a polling center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania today. This is referred to as electioneering.” The Philadelphia County election board states that no one is allowed to influence the vote within 10 feet to the entrance of a polling room where voting machines are located. O'KEEFE: “Not only are Democratic candidates' campaign materials posted at the door where the voting machines are located, watch as our undercover journalists are handed instructions on exactly how to vote within arm's reach of the door.” UNDERCOVER REPORTER: “So, you're telling me I should vote John Fetterman. I should vote Joshua Shapiro.” DEMOCRATIC OPERATIVE: “If you vote Democrat, all of them are the Democratics.” When the undercover Project Veritas reporter asked why he should vote a straight Democrat Party ticket, this is what the Democratic operative said within feet of the polling door illegally. DEMOCRATIC OPERATIVE: “These are more or less liberals who can help with the poor guy.” And he described Republicans, including Mehmet Oz, this way. DEMOCRATIC OPERATIVE: “I would say these are generally people trying to save their money.” Fetterman emerged with 50.3 percent of the vote, defeating Oz by three percentage points. It's difficult to know how much of this illegal electioneering swayed voters on the fence. Proverbs 11:1 says, “The LORD detests dishonest scales, but accurate weights find favor with Him.” Zuckerberg fired 13% of Facebook staff And finally, hours after Meta, the parent company of Facebook, announced it was laying off 13% of its staff, CEO Mark Zuckerberg addressed employees virtually on Wednesday around 1:00pm Eastern, reports CNBC. A Meta employee, who was fired, provided this video to NBC News. ZUCKERBERG: “I take full responsibility for this decision. I'm the founder and CEO. I'm responsible for the health of our company, for our direction, and for deciding how we execute that, including things like this. This was ultimately my call. One of the hardest calls that I've had to make in the 18 years of running the company.” Shares of Meta plunged 24.5% on October 27th as investors and analysts digested the company's third-quarter earnings miss and a weak fourth-quarter outlook. Shares closed at $97.94, the lowest price since 2016. By contrast, on September 7, 2021, Meta's stock price hit $382. Today, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, 410 U.S. 113 (1973), and Planned Parenthood v. Casey, 505 U.S. 833 (1992). Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has released an official advisory setting forth Texas law in light of the Supreme Court's decision. A law that was passed last year by the Texas Legislature — the “Human Life Protection Act” — will take effect 30 days from the court's judgment, which is separate from the opinion released today; the law will effectively make abortion illegal in Texas, with provisions. Sign up now at crosspolitic.com/libertytour. https://www.dailywire.com/news/republican-led-louisiana-house-fails-to-pass-bill-abolishing-abortion Ben Zeisloft at the DailyWire reports: Members of the Louisiana House of Representatives failed to pass a bill that would have abolished abortion by applying homicide laws to women who procure the procedure. The Abolition of Abortion in Louisiana Act (HB813) — which has gained national and international media attention — recognizes “the right to life and equal protection of the laws to all unborn children from the moment of fertilization by protecting them by the same laws protecting other human beings.” Accordingly, it applied state laws about homicide to children in the womb. Last week, lawmakers on the Louisiana House’s criminal justice committee approved the bill by a 7 to 2 vote. However, after legislators approved an amendment on Thursday stating that “the pregnant female shall not be held responsible for the criminal consequences” of seeking an abortion by a 65 to 26 vote, State Rep. Danny McCormick — the Republican who sponsored HB813 — asked to pull the bill from the House floor. Louisiana Right to Life announced its opposition to HB813 ahead of the House vote because it applied criminal penalties to mothers who procure abortion. Likewise, Governor John Bel Edwards (D-LA) — remarking that his “Catholic Christian faith” teaches him to be pro-life — followed suit in opposing the legislation. “I felt I had to join my voice to the chorus of pro-life organizations against HB813,” he said in a statement. Pro-life activist Abby Johnson recently condemned Louisiana Right to Life for opposing HB813. “Either the preborn are fully human or they aren’t,” she saidon Twitter. “When abortion is illegal, people must pay the penalty for killing their children. These children deserve justice.” Replying to Edwards’ opposition to the bill, Johnson said, “Well, well, well. Look how many pro-aborts you have made happy!!” Brian Gunter — the senior pastor of First Baptist Church in Livingston, Louisiana, who was instrumental in organizing other Christians in the state to support the legislation — told The Daily Wire that Edwards “believes there are no circumstances under which a woman should be held accountable if she knowingly and intentionally kills her preborn child.” “HB813 protects a woman who is coerced into an abortion and prosecutes the person who forces her to have an abortion,” he said of the bill in its original form. “If Governor Edwards believes the preborn child is just as much a person as the born child, then it is absurd for him to suggest that the preborn child should be discriminated against and denied equal protection under law. No one should be allowed to murder preborn children without consequences.” Last week, Gunter remarked to The Daily Wire that Louisiana’s current pro-life trigger law — the “The Human Life Protection Act” — only penalizes abortionists with $1,000 fines, even though animal cruelty is fined at up to $25,000 in Louisiana. https://thehill.com/news/senate/3486654-rand-paul-objection-delays-40-billion-ukraine-aid-package/ Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) hit the brakes Thursday on bipartisan hopes that the Senate could quickly pass nearly $40 billion in Ukraine aid before leaving town for the week. Paul objected to a deal offered by Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer(D-N.Y.) and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) that would have set up votes on Thursday afternoon on the funding and on an amendment from Paul, who wanted to include language in the bill to expand an Afghanistan inspector general role to include oversight of the Ukraine funds. Paul blocked the votes because he wants his language inserted into the text of the bill instead of having to take his chance with an amendment vote, which could be blocked. The stalemate will delay the Senate’s passage of the Ukraine package until at least next week, and potentially beyond. “There is now only one thing holding us back, the junior senator from Kentucky is preventing swift passage of Ukraine aid because he wants to add, at the last minute, his own changes directly into the bill … He is not even asking for an amendment. He is simply saying my way or the highway,” Schumer said. “Ukraine is not asking us to fight this war. They’re only asking for the resources they need to defend themselves against this deranged invasion, and they need help right now,” McConnell said. Paul, however, warned about the pace of spending, arguing that “we cannot save Ukraine by dooming the U.S. economy.” “Americans are feeling the pain [from inflation] and Congress seems intent only on adding to that pain by shoveling more money out the door as fast as they can,” Paul said. In many states, including Texas and Tennessee, more than half of formula is sold out in stores. Nationwide, 40 percent of formula is out of stock—a twentyfold increase since the first half of 2021. As parents have started to stockpile formula, retailers such as Walgreens, CVS, and Target have all moved to limit purchases. Three factors are driving the U.S. baby-formula shortage: bacteria, a virus, and a trade policy. First, the bacteria. After the recent deaths of at least two infants from a rare infection, the Food and Drug Administration investigated Abbott, a major producer of infant formula, and discovered traces of the pathogen Cronobacter sakazakii in a Michigan plant. As a result, the FDA recalled several brands of formula, and parents were advised to not buy or use some formula tied to the plant. That brings us to the second cause: the virus. The pandemic has snarled all sorts of supply chains, but I can’t think of a market it’s yanked around more than infant formula. “During the spring of 2020, formula sales rocketed upwards as people stockpiled formula just like they stockpiled toilet paper,” Lyman Stone, the director of research at the consulting firm Demographic Intelligence, told me. Then, as “families worked through their stockpiles, sales fell a lot. This oscillation made planning for production extremely difficult. It was complicated to get an idea of the actual market size.” Meanwhile, Stone’s research has found that an uptick in births in early 2022 has corresponded with a “very dramatic decline in rates of breastfeeding” among new mothers, which pushed up demand for formula once again. In brief: Demand for formula surged as parents hoarded in 2020; then demand fell, leading suppliers to cut back production through 2021; and now, with more new mothers demanding more formula in 2022, orders are surging faster than supply is recovering. Finally, the third factor: America’s regulatory and trade policy. And while that might not sound as interesting to most people as bacteria and viruses, it might be the most important part of the story. FDA regulation of formula is so stringent that most of the stuff that comes out of Europe is illegal to buy here due to technicalities like labeling requirements. Nevertheless, one study found that many European formulas meet the FDA nutritional guidelines—and, in some ways, might even be better than American formula, because the European Union bans certain sugars, such as corn syrup, and requires formulas to have a higher share of lactose. Some parents who don’t care about the FDA’s imprimatur try to circumvent regulations by ordering formula from Europe through third-party vendors. But U.S. customs agents have been known to seize shipments at the border. U.S. policy also restricts the importation of formula that does meet FDA requirements. At high volumes, the tax on formula imports can exceed 17 percent. And under President Donald Trump, the U.S. entered into a new North American trade agreement that actively discourages formula imports from our largest trading partner, Canada. America’s formula policy warps the industry in one more way. The Department of Agriculture has a special group called WIC—short for Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children—that provides a variety of services to pregnant and breastfeeding women and their young children. It is also the largest purchaser of infant formula in the United States, awarding contracts to a small number of approved formula companies. As a result, the U.S. baby formula industry is minuscule, by design. A 2011 analysis by USDA reported that three companies accounted for practically all U.S. formula sales: Abbott, Mead Johnson, and Gerber. Look, it can be a real blessing to have baby formula for any number of legitimate reasons, but in general, there’s a God-given supply of baby formula ordinarily available through breast milk. Remember, we slaughter babies by the millions through abortion. This shouldn’t be a crisis. If women embraced motherhood, if men embraced fatherhood, if sex was reserved for the covenant of marriage, and if our culture celebrated the motherhood as the highest calling of a woman, sure it would be a blessing to have alternative nutrition in unusual circumstances, but if women were not so concerned about getting back to work, we wouldn’t be in this situation. Lies, Propaganda, Story Telling, and the Serrated Edge DNB: This year our national conference is in Knoxville, TN October 6th-8th. The theme of this year’s conference is Lies, Propaganda, Storytelling and the Serrated Edge. Satan is the father of lies, and the mother of those lies is a government who has rejected God. We have especially been lied to these last two years, and the COVIDpanic has been one of the central mechanisms that our government has used to lie to us and to grab more power. Because Christians have not been reading their bibles, we are susceptible to lies and weak in our ability to fight these lies. God has given us His word to fight Satan and his lies, and we need to recover all of God’s word, its serrated edge and all.

Birth Mother Matters Adoption S2,Ep.157: A Day of Tears In Alamaba, a resolution was passed that calls for private citizens in Alabama to lower their flags on January 22nd. Day of Tears will be a day of national mourning. A goal is to encourage people across the country to fly their flags at half-staff on January 22nd. Day of Tears is a 501(c)(3) committed to the lives of the preborn. The organization's goal is to have flags lowered across the nation on January 22, in remembrance, honor, and mourning for the over 61 million lives that have been lost to abortion. Alabama has long been a leader in passing laws providing protections for the unborn. Legislation has included the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, Unborn Child Protection from Dismemberment Abortion Act, and the Human Life Protection Act.
What do people think about birth control, sex and workplace sexism in Alabama? Ashley is here to tell us all about it. Also, this week marks one year since The Human Life Protection Act was passed in Alabama, a law which criminalizes the vast majority of abortions in the state, including those in the case of rape or incest. Big thanks to U.S. District Judge Myron Thompson for blocking it with an injunction! In anticipation of the third season of The Handmaid's Tale premiering June 5 on Hulu, this episode dives into the dystopian and misogynistic regime — as well as how recent news from Alabama remind us of how we’re not that far from these horrors. On May 15, the Human Life Protection Act, also known as House Bill 314 and the Alabama abortion ban was enacted, which imposes a near-total ban on abortion in the state starting in November 2019.The first two seasons of the show gathered a global following and is especially popular in China for its realistic portrayal of the national policing of women’s bodies. As the news from Alabama started trending on Weibo (Chinese Twitter), people became enraged — netizens were angry, because they didn’t understand how and why the allegedly “beacon nation” that usually puts humanism and individual freedom first has made this regression against abortion rights. We invited our dear friend (and a regular guest on the show) Santu (Yale JD candidate) and Feminist/Activist Lv Pin to join us in a discussion on the abortion ban through the lens of pop culture. We discuss both fictional and realistic dystopianism on both sides of the Pacific ocean. On today's BLASST I get to sit down and chop it up with arguably the most popular trouble-makers in the RGV music scene, the gender-inclusive pain in the violently conservative state of Texas' proverbial "ass", and the Rio Grande Valley's premier ska group: L@s Skagaler@s. We talk about the band's loooong story, the attack on choice in this country (as well as at home), and the band's upcoming performance at this weekend's Skank for Choice event, a pro-choice benefit show that will raise funds for non-profit organizations that help provide abortion access to those who choose who need it. Case in point: Alabama, where due to the passing of "Human Life Protection" Act (100% inaccurate name btw), even being remotely connected to an abortion can result in a criminal charge. We also jam some new tracks from the Tales from the Border EP, which some of the Skags helped create specifically for the benefit this weekend.More at the BLASST Blog.InstagramTwitter
If you're even remotely paying attention, you've heard about the Human Life Protection Act in Alabama that restricts abortion in any and all circumstances. Following in its lead are Heartbeat Bills being signed in Ohio, Kentucky, Missouri, and many other states. We discuss the ramifications of laws like this, and *our thoughts* on what it means to be pro-choice or pro-life. Are we on our way to Gilead? Does taking a life supersede a woman's right to make decisions for herself? Should lawmakers be responsible for regulating medical procedures? Hear what we have to say and how we approach this topic with as much grace as we could manage. Given the content, the language is more explicit than previous episodes.
