This was Samsung's week, so it was no surprise to see just about every other tech company in the world step back and give the Korean giant some space. That means we're focusing on a Galaxy Unpacked deep dive on the show, starting with the Galaxy S22 series. There are three phones this time around, but really it's all about the Ultra, the souped up flagship that looks more like a Note phone than anything else in the S22 series, with a rounded body and space for an S Pen stylus to slot inside. The regular S22 and S22+ are no slouches though. They may look similar to last year's S21 models, but they've had seriously upgraded camera setups that should keep them competitive in the 2022 market. And by returning to a glass body while keeping prices the same, Samsung has done a lot to win its core fans back over. Then there's the Tab S8 series. The S8 and S8+ are solid, if unexciting, Android tablets. But the S8 Ultra is its own strange beast. With a massive 14.5in widescreen display it's essentially positioned as a laptop replacement, helped by including powerful front-facing cameras that will beat any laptop webcam - though admittedly we could do without the notch. It's official: Fast Charge is 100 (episodes). To celebrate, we're going to throw out our best bad tech takes, live on air, ready to be eviscerated in the comments for all the nonsense views we're desperately clinging to. But before that, we'll be reviewing the two latest Huawei flagships. First up is the P50 Pro, the camera-first slab phone that Huawei launched in China almost a year back. With its global launch now upon us, Toddy is ready to find out if the camera can still compete with the latest and greatest camera phones on the market. Then there's the P50 Pocket. Confirmed Z Flip obsessive Dom has been testing the Pocket out all week, and is ready to declare if Huawei is the new clamshell king - along with some live comparisons to last year's Z Flip 3. New week, new phones. Xiaomi has unveiled the Redmi Note 11 series, while the Fast Charge team is ready to review new offerings from both Samsung and Motorola. There are four phones in the Redmi Note 11 series, ranging from a regular model up to the Note 11 Pro 5G. Even that top-end model is affordable, coming in below $400, but offering a 120Hz AMOLED display, 67W charging, and a 108Mp camera. Dom is ready to review the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE - just in time before the launch of the Galaxy S22 next month - and answer the question of whether this phone has something to offer in 2022, or if it's just too little, too late. Finally, Lewis has been testing out the Moto G200 - a mid-range marvel from Motorola that offers a lot more bang for your buck than you might be expecting. Is this actually one of the best mid-range phones around now? This podcast is produced by IDG Communications. This week Dom is ready to review Vivo's selfie-focussed V23 Pro, while we take advantage of the lull in launches to look ahead to what Samsung and Apple each have ready to launch this spring. The V23 Pro is the first Pro phone in Vivo's selfie-centric V-series, and launched alongside the regular V23 in India a couple of weeks back. It boasts a slick design and powerful front-facing cameras, but is that enough to make it a mid-range must-buy? Meanwhile we're just weeks away from what's hotly tipped to be an early February launch for Samsung's Galaxy S22 range and Tab S8 series, both of which have been leaked extensively. Here's everything we're expecting to see, with a focus on Samsung's new flagship phones. Apple has its own launches lined up though, and with new leaks hinting at what to expect from a new iPhone SE and iPad Air, we round up what we think Apple is working on too. It's the week after CES, which means things are a little quieter. A little. Because it's still the week that's seen a major new foldable phone launch. Honor has unveiled the Magic V, its first attempt at a foldable phone - and already the most powerful foldable on the market, as it's the first to arrive with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 inside. With a Galaxy Fold-esque form factor, this looks like a solid foldable offering - but is it enough from Honor, and will we ever see it break out of China? Meanwhile, fresh iPhone 14 rumours point to a pretty unusual new notch/punch-hole camera design. It's enough to prompt us to wonder if that's really what the iPhone 14 might look like - and if it is, does it matter? Knowing us, we'll probably also start chatting about under-display selfie cameras and the like, including a new Google patent in exactly that area that we think might be for the Pixel 7 or Pixel Fold. Finally, it's been a tumultuous start to the year for BlackBerry fans. First existing handsets basically stopped working, then OnwardMobility confirmed it is still working on a new BlackBerry phone for 2022, and in the meantime British company Planet Computers brought their Astro Slide phone - complete with a physical QWERTY keyboard - to CES. What's going on with it all, and is there really a market for BlackBerries in 2022 anyway? This podcast is produced by IDG Communications. CES is normally a quiet trade show for smartphone fans, with launches focussed on cars, TVs, and the smart home - but 2022 has decided to buck some trends, with major phone launches taking place at the show. First up, Samsung finally launched the long-awaited (and much-rumoured) Galaxy S21 FE. This mid-range successor to the S21 line packs strong specs and a really sleek design, but after months of delays can it really command Samsung's $699 asking price? We also know a lot more than we expected to about the OnePlus 10 Pro. The phone's design and specs were revealed at CES this week ahead of a full launch in China next week, and we like a lot of what we've seen of the phone. OnePlus will have an uphill battle to win its fans back over though, and the absence of a regular OnePlus 10 isn't likely to help matters. Finally, Realme didn't attend CES, but did go ahead and launch the GT 2 series anyway - in China at least. The heavily leaked GT 2 Pro was joined by a regular GT 2, but it's still the Pro that held our attention thanks to the appearance of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and other specs that mark this out as the true flagship that Realme promised. Hot on the heels of last week's Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 unveiling, Motorola has managed to take the lead, in terms of launching a phone running on this cutting-edge silicon. Meanwhile, Oppo's forthcoming Inno Day event looks set to give us a wealth of interesting technologies, including the company's first foldable. First up, we're delving into the reveal of the first Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 smartphone, the Motorola Edge X30. Revealed on 9 December in China, the smartphone boasts flagship-level specs that could compete with some of the best. We'll also discuss the Motorola Edge S30, a larger and – relatively speaking – more modest mobile powered by the still-current top-tier Snapdragon 888+. Next, we're moving on to Oppo's Inno Day teasers. While Oppo Inno Day doesn't officially kick off until next week, the company has teased a bunch of new technology including what's thought to be a new camera-focused NPU (neural processing unit), the next evolution in its conceptual AR (augment reality) glasses, a phone concept with a retractable camera and its first foldable phone – now known as the Oppo Find N. York von Heimburg ist in der Medienlandschaft zuhause, einem für ihn lebendigen, aktiven und vor allem sinnstiftenden Umfeld. It's a Qualcomm double-whammy this week, with the company hosting its annual Snapdragon Summit in sunny Hawaii, with announcements aplenty. First up, it's time to talk Qualcomm's next mobile chipset – dubbed the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Rivalling Mediatek's Dimensity 9000 – revealed last week – we now have a better idea of what the 8 Gen 1 actually brings to the table, as well as the assorted mobile manufacturers chomping at the bit to stick this new silicon into their next flagship phones. Next, we're moving on to another Qualcomm announcement, but this one's a little different. Created to showcase the power of its new G3x Gen 1 gaming chipset, Qualcomm has revealed a Switch-style handheld console, built in conjunction with Razer. Is the portable form factor the future for gaming, or is it simply a big Android smartphone with a permanent game controller mounted on it? We discuss. And then, finally, we hop over to China, where the Honor 60 and Honor 60 Pro were just unveiled. While the Honor 60 only appears to be an incremental upgrade on the Honor 50, the 60 Pro debuts a beefier chipset – in the Snapdragon 778G+ – and an even larger display. We talk about the announcements, and when we should expect to see the Honor 60 Series launch internationally. This podcast is produced by IDG Communications. Alright, fine - we said we wouldn't do a Black Friday episode, but here we are. But it's only the one segment, OK? Before that, we'll chat through the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 - announced just hours after last week's pod. This is the new flagship chip from Qualcomm's biggest rival, and for the first time it packs specs that not only stomp all over the Snadpragon 888, but may even best the upcoming Snapdragon flagship. Then there's the OnePlus 10 Pro. No, it hasn't been announced, but after the design leaked in renders a few weeks ago, we now have a near-complete spec leak. But don't get your hopes up - not a lot has changed from the 9 Pro. Is OnePlus turning up a dud? And then, finally, yes: Black Friday. The year's biggest sales season is here. But are there any good deals around on phones and other mobile tech, or are you better off saving your money? This podcast is produced by IDG Communications. Didn't everyone get the memo that it's the end of the year and they're supposed to stop launching phones? Motorola just dropped five new G-series phones, led by the G200: a surprisingly powerful Snapdragon 888+-powered device that's targeting the mid-range market at €449. It's joined by the Moto G71, G51, G41, and G31, with prices ranging down to €200 - even with waterproofing across the lot of them. Realme also held a launch event this week, though at least this was primarily for the European launch of devices we'd seen elsewhere. Still, the GT Neo 2 looks like a very competitive mid-range option, and the Realme Pad marks yet another major Android brand throw a new tablet out into the market. Finally, Apple has taken the major step of letting iPhone owners do their own repairs. The new Self-Service Repair program will let consumers buy tools and parts to repair their own phones, and eventually MacBooks and more. Is this a revolutionary step towards sustainability by Apple, or just San Cupertino bowing to regulatory pressure before it gets forced to? This podcast is produced by IDG Communications. The tech world is slowing down right now, but that didn't stop Poco from barrelling in with its final phone launch of 2021, while Microsoft unveiled a more mobile version of Windows 11 and we unveiled our 2021 awards. The Poco M4 Pro is a pretty capable budget device from Poco, albeit one with some quirks. Like some other Poco phones this is really a re-branded version of an existing Redmi phone, but as part of that it borrows one real oddity: cosmetic camera lenses. Huh. Meanwhile Microsoft held yet another launch, this time for Windows 11 SE, a lightweight version of its OS intended to take on ChromeOS. Naturally there's a new Chromebook rival to go with it, with the cheap and cheerful Surface Laptop SE making its debut too. Finally, this week we unveiled our official awards for 2021, with the top tech in ten categories earning prizes, as decided by the Tech Advisor editorial team. We're gonna run through our winners, including our big 3 phone awards. This podcast is produced by IDG Communications. With the worst of Techtober behind us, and Black Friday on the horizon, the tech industry took a bit of a breather this week...well, except for one of the biggest tech companies on the planet completely re-branding, of course. Facebook is now Meta, and Meta is all about the metaverse. The social network isn't going anywhere, but the company is changing focus - and luckily we have VR expert Lewis on hand to explain why, what it means, and what on earth the metaverse actually is. Meanwhile, rumours have ramped up this week about the Galaxy S21 FE. Now tipped to launch at CES 2022 in January, we know a lot about the phone - and you can even go buy components for it online if you fancy. Then Netflix finally followed through on its long-promised move into gaming. Right now Netflix subscribers can play five games on Android devices from within the Netflix app, at no extra charge, including two titles based on Stranger Things. But can Netflix really conquer the games industry as it has TV? This podcast is produced by IDG Communications. The final week of Techtober still has plenty to offer, with two major phone launches and the review embargo lifting on Google's Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. First up, the Honor 50 has finally launched worldwide - with Google Mobile Services in tow. Dom has been testing the phone out for a week so is ready to let you know what he thinks of the new Honor mid-ranger - and a bit more about how it compares to the similar Huawei Nova 9. Meanwhile Sony's surprise phone turned out to be, well, surprising. The Xperia Pro-I is camera first, phone second, using the same 1-inch main sensor as some of Sony's actual cameras, and is capable of recording 4K video at 120fps without any frame loss. All that comes at a price though - a whopping $1,800 to be exact. Finally, after introducing the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro last week, Toddy and Chris are back to share their final thoughts and full reviews after testing the two phones for over a week. Are these the best Androids around? This podcast is produced by IDG Communications. Techtober just won't stop, and this was one of the biggest weeks yet, with launches from Apple, Google, Huawei, and even a small stream from Samsung. We're most excited about the Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, which after months of teases were finally revealed in full. There weren't many surprises yet - except some aggressive pricing - but Toddy and Chris have the phones and are ready to give their first impressions ahead of our full reviews next week. The day before that Apple held its own event. Along with oddities like a Siri-only Apple Music plan, new HomePod Mini colours, and some new AirPods, the headline was the reveal of the new 14in and 16in MacBook Pros, complete with new Apple-designed M1 Pro and M1 Max chips. Finally, today Huawei has its own launch planned - just in time for us to discuss it on the show. We'd hoped to meet the European version of the Huawei P50, but word now is that instead this will be the launch of the Nova 9 - but will the big H have any other surprises up its sleeve? Note: Sorry this episode is a little late! To make up for it, episode 89 is right around the corner too, with episode 90 at the end of this week. This podcast is produced by IDG Communications. It's a tech triple threat this week, as we cover the launches of a new phone, a new VR headset, and a new set of wearables. The OnePlus 9RT may be exclusive to China and India, but it's still a new OnePlus flagship, and we always have time for them. Big upgrades to the chipset and camera make this an excellent upgrade - but why aren't we getting one in the West? Meanwhile HTC has just debuted the Vive Flow, a new premium VR headset that's a little different. Built for entertainment, productivity, and mindfulness, this is a lightweight, phone-powered headset that puts comfort first - but may not keep up with your gaming needs. Finally, Amazfit has overhauled its GTS and GTR watches for their third generation, with upgraded hardware and a new, streamlined OS. In the GTR 3 Pro we also have the first Amazfit smartwatch that lives up to the term, with Wi-Fi, a microphone, and the option to take calls through it - without giving up on the company's epic battery life. It's been a big old week for tech, with the Nintendo Switch OLED on the cusp of release and Windows 11 launching (and Android 12... sort of), while team Tech Advisor has also got their hands on the iPhone 13 series. First up, Dom is going to run through his Switch OLED review (which you can also find on the channel). Is Nintendo's updated Switch console a worthwhile upgrade for existing owners, or is it just a half-step while we all wait for a 4K version? Anyron is joining us to explain the essentials of the launch of Windows 11. You can update to the new OS now if you want to - but how do you go about it, and should you upgrade now or wait it out? Amazon dominated this week with the announcement of a slew of new products including its very first robot, while in China Xiaomi introduced an entirely new phone line, and the first full renders of the Galaxy S22 series appeared online. Amazon announced loads of products at its big event this week, but the showstopper was undoubtedly the Astro robot: a small Alexa-powered bot with its own display, that marks the company's first foray into a whole new industry. The company also revealed a wall-mounted Echo Show 15, its first smart thermostat, a new 'Hey, Disney!' voice assistant, and more. Meanwhile Xiaomi launched the Civi, the first in a new fashion-focused phone line. The Civi is set to remain a China exclusive, but it's interesting nonetheless, marking a new direction for the company as it continues to shuffles its sub-brands. Finally, thanks to OnLeaks we have our first plausible look at the Galaxy S22 series. His renders reveal a familiar look for the S22 and S22+ but a more radical redesign for the S22 Ultra, amid rumours that this phone may even change names and adopt the Note branding instead. This week it's all about Microsoft, with the company unveiling a slew of shiny new Surface products in the lead-up to the release of Windows 11. HMD Global also made a play in the affordable 5G phone space – with the Nokia G50 and iOS 15 is finally making its way to users' iPhones, but is it any good? Wednesday saw Microsoft's Panos Panay excitedly zip around an army of new Surface hardware; from the somersaulting Surface Laptop Studio to the powerful new Surface Pro 8, while we were also introduced to timely refreshes of the company's Surface Go and Surface Pro X 2-in-1s. The oddball Surface Duo also got a sequel in the Surface Duo 2, which offers up better cameras, beefier performance (and 5G) – led by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset – and a new, curvier design that means you can few aspects like notifications and battery level while the Duo 2 is closed. In light of the iPhone 13's launch, Apple also rolled out the official release of iOS 15 to the masses, complete with FaceTime support on Android and Windows, Notification Summary and (among numerous other features) new portrait mode options – even in third-party apps. Lastly, HMD Global continues doing what it does best - releasing low-cost Nokia-branded Android phones that promise a clean design, lightly tweaked user experience, and long-term OS and security updates. The main difference with the new Nokia G50 is that it's the first of the company's 5G-capable phones to come in at a budget asking price, making it one of the only offerings not from a Chinese phone maker; whether it'll find success, however, is another matter. The iPhone 13 is finally here! And it looks...OK? Yeah, we're as underwhelmed as the rest of you - but we have plenty of other Apple products to cover too, plus Xiaomi's 11T and Pad 5 launch, *and* the Facebook/Ray-Ban smart glasses. It's gonna be a big one. Apple launched four new iPhones, two iPads, and an Apple Watch at its event on Tuesday. There were a few iterative updates, but the new iPad Mini is genuinely pretty exciting - and it's Apple, so there's something to talk about in just about everything they've launched. Xiaomi boldly followed suit with a launch the following day, but it has good reason to be confident: not only does its 11T phone series impress with solid specs and 120W charging, but the Xiaomi Pad 5 looks like that rare thing: a budget Android tablet you might actually want to buy. Finally, Lewis has been trying out the Ray-Ban Stories, the eyewear brand's new smart glasses - built in collaboration with Facebook. We haven't even seen the iPhone 13 yet but the next iteration has already leaked - while Vivo has unveiled its latest flagship series and we review the Galaxy Z Fold 3. Apple has confirmed the iPhone 13 launch event for next week, but just to get on their nerves leaker Jon Prosser has unveiled renders and some surprising specs and design details for next year's iPhone 14 series - but should we trust him? Vivo has also unveiled the X70 series in China, with the global launch promised within days. Once again there are three phones, with the flagship X70 Pro+ packing a Snapdragon 888+ and Vivo's new V1 imaging sensor, along with two firsts for the brand: an IP68 rating and 50W wireless charging. Finally, after a week or two with the phone Toddy is ready to review the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 - while Lewis is also going to throw in his thoughts on the ZTE Axon 30's new under-display camera as we find out how Samsung's tech holds up. After the Galaxy Watch 4 and Fitbit Charge 5, the next-gen wearable battle is heating up with the Fossil Gen 6 series - while regulators are chipping away at Apple's walled garden. The new Fossil watches are the first powered by the Snapdragon Wear 4100+, promising big boosts in performance and charging speeds. They're also already confirmed to get the Wear OS 3 upgrade, but there may be a while to wait... Meanwhile twin rulings from the Japan Fair Trade Commission and the South Korean parliament are slowly opening up Apple's walled garden, with the company now required to allow apps like Netflix to link to their websites from within apps - and to accept third party payment providers in Korea. After last week's deluge of phones, this week was a little quieter - but still had one major launch in the Fitbit Charge 5. The latest in what's probably Fitbit's most popular tracker line is the first to feature a full colour display, along with improved stress tracking and a new design. But with a price hike to match the new feature set, is it still a competitive option against budget rivals? Next up we're going to round up everything we know so far about the iPhone 13 series - most recently tipped to arrive on 17 September. Lewis is going to go through everything we know about which models to expect, what the specs will be, and more. Finally, Toddy is ready to give his thoughts on the Galaxy Watch 4 after testing the new Wear OS wearable pretty thoroughly - including his verdict on the new version of Wear OS that powers it. There have been plenty of phone launches this week, but only one that really matters: the Pixel 5a 5G. Meanwhile Oppo is upgrading its cameras and Toddy reviews the Xperia 1 III. The Pixel 5a 5G is the new mid-ranger from Google, but unusually it's only launching in the US and Japan. That begins to make more sense once you realise that almost nothing has changed from last year's 4a 5G, with the same design, chipset, and camera. Are additions like a bigger display and IP67 rating enough to win over even the anaemic American mid-range market? Oppo hasn't launched a phone this week, but it did hold a camera-centric event where it revealed its work on a new RGBW sensor, an 85-200mm continuous zoom, and 5-axis OIS. We've seen some of this tech before elsewhere, but will Oppo do it better? And when will we see it in a phone? Finally, Toddy is ready to review the Sony Xperia 1 III, on the same day it officially goes on sale in Europe. Can Sony's latest premium flagship hold its own in a crowded market, especially going on sale five months after it was first revealed? This podcast is produced by IDG Communications. Well, that was a busy week. It's a launch special this week as we work through everything announced by Samsung, Xiaomi, and Honor at their respective events. Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Z Fold 3, the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic, and the Galaxy Buds 2 at a monster Unpacked event. From the first Wear OS 3 smartwatches to the cheapest foldable phone so far, there's a lot to get excited about here. But before that Xiaomi unveiled the Mi Mix 4 and Mi Pad 5 at its own event for the Chinese market. The range of new premium Android tablets is certainly unusual, but the real highlight is the Mi Mix 4's under-display camera - which seems to outclass Samsung's similar tech in the Z Fold 3. Last but not least, Honor held its Magic 3 launch event today, unveiling a trio of new flagship phones with promises of a global launch. With the new Snapdragon 888+ chipset and some seriously specced quad camera setups, these mark a bold return to the high-end market for a newly independent Honor. So that was unexpected - Google just revealed the Pixel 6, so we're covering that and chatting about Realme's MagDart charging tech and the inevitable demise of Twitter's Fleets. Google unveiled the design of the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, along with a few key details and info on the new custom SoC, Tensor. We're still waiting for full specs and stuff like pricing, but at least now we can begin to figure out Google's Pixel plans. Less surprising was Realme's reveal of its MagDart charging tech, along with the Realme Flash concept phone. Heavily inspired by Apple's MagSafe, this does at least go further, with a full ecosystem ready to go and faster charging speeds than Apple has managed yet. Finally, this week finally saw Fleets bite the dust - just in time for TikTok to start beta testing its own Stories feature. Why are all the social networks trying their hardest to merge into one, and what makes some formats - like Stories - work on one platform while it tanks on others? It's another busy week for launches, with the Huawei P50 and Motorola Edge 20 series both arriving alongside the first headphones from Carl Pei's Nothing. The P50 is Huawei's first flagship phone launch since it moved to HarmonyOS 2.0 instead of Android, marking a major moment - but with chipset challenges and still no Google, can the company make a comeback? Meanwhile the Motorola Edge 20 is another set of premium devices, as Motorola continues to remind phone fans that it doesn't only make budget handsets. Finally, the Ear (1) headphones are the debut product from OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei's new venture, Nothing. Dom has the headphones with him and is ready to run through what they offer and give his first hands-on impressions. This podcast is produced by IDG Communications. OnePlus is back with the Nord 2 - it's third phone this summer alone - while we're going to look ahead to the rest of the summer's biggest launches and turn our attention to Netflix's announcement that it's moving into mobile gaming. First up, the Nord 2 is here - and joined by the OnePlus Buds Pro - and it looks like another mid-range marvel, with strong specs across the board and a competitive price point. It's far from the only phone launching this summer though. Usually a quiet period for launches, instead we're about to see the ZTE Axon 30, Huawei P50, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3, and Honor Magic 3 all launch within the next few weeks. Finally, after hiring a prominent gaming executive last week, Netflix has confirmed that it intends to move into gaming. The company says it's going to start providing mobile games for free as part of its subscription - but how will that work, and will it run foul of Apple's draconian App Store rules just like Xbox Cloud Gaming before it? This podcast is produced by IDG Communications. The big phone companies have had a quiet week, but that's just left spaces for oddities like the Freedom Phone and Qualcomm's Snapdragon Insiders handset to creep out. The Freedom Phone is an "uncensorable" phone from self-declared Bitcoin millionaire Erik Finman. The specs are vague and we're not sure how it's supposed to work, but it does have an operating system "based on free speech". And we think the Stars & Stripes wallpaper might come included too. Only slightly less ridiculous is Qualcomm's Smartphone for Snapdragon Insiders. This is a flagship Android device built by Asus that's built for devs and Snapdragon superfans - and you'd have to be a superfan to drop $1500 on it. Finally, we'll turn to a phone we trust a little more: the Realme GT. Chris has been busy reviewing the racing striped wonder so we'll have all his thoughts on this year's most powerful mid-ranger, plus the latest rumours on the upcoming GT Master Edition. We're veering away from phones for a hot minute to talk about Nintendo's divisive new Switch update, but don't worry: we've got loads of OnePlus news this week too, and Toddy's impressions of the Sony Xperia 1 III. The Nintendo Switch (OLED model), to give it its clunky full name, has already frustrated fans hoping for a 4K-capable Pro model. But is this just Nintendo sticking to its strengths - and what about rumours that the Pro model is still on the way anyway? Meanwhile OnePlus has made headlines almost every day this week. The company has confirmed the Nord 2 is on the way (and revealed its chipset) but has also drawn ire for throttling apps and fudging benchmarks, had its OnePlus Pad tablet plans leaked, and revealed that Oxygen OS is officially merging with Color OS. Finally, Toddy has his hands on the Sony Xperia 1 III. He's not quite ready to give the phone a full review just yet, but tune in for all his early impressions and thoughts on the latest Sony flagship so far. We couldn't go live this week, but we wouldn't let that stop us hopping onto Zoom to cover Samsung's new smartwatch OS, the latest Qualcomm chipset, and how Android apps will run on Windows 11. Samsung used MWC 2021 to announce One UI Watch, its half of the new partnership with Google to develop the next generation of Wear OS. Here's everything new coming to Samsung smartwatches - and beyond - along with the latest on the upcoming Galaxy Watch 4 series, where the software will debut. MWC's other big announcement was Qualcomm's Snapdragon 888+ chipset. Its performance gains are fairly modest, but that hasn't stopped five big phone manufacturers from committing to it already - including what could end up being the year's best foldable phone. Finally, late last week Microsoft unveiled Windows 11, with the surprise reveal that it will run Android apps natively. But how will this work, why would you want it to, and how will Microsoft deal with the giant problem of Google Play Services? This podcast is produced by IDG Communications. It's a big week for Honor, as the company not only unveils the Honor 50 series, but reveals it's back in bed with Google. Not that it's been a quiet one for OnePlus or Realme either... The Honor 50, 50 Pro, and 50 SE have been unveiled in China, with 120Hz displays and high-Mp cameras. But the bigger news is that the Honor 50 will launch worldwide - and when it does, it will include Google Mobile Services. Meanwhile OnePlus has followed up the Nord CE with the North American N200. More than that though, the company has confirmed plans to merge even more with Oppo - what does that mean for the company's future phones? Finally, Realme - another part of the Oppo corporate family, lest we forget - has launched the Realme GT worldwide at a frankly outrageous price, and teased plans for its first tablet and laptop too. OnePlus is back with the latest in its line of affordable Nords, while Apple's WWDC keynote revealed the next iterations of iOS and more. The OnePlus Nord CE 5G isn't quite the proper Nord 2 we're waiting for, but the streamlined take on last year's best mid-range phone still has a lot of promise. The core specs have returned but with a few compromises to hit a lower price point - though with OnePlus staples like the Alert Slider gone, has the company stripped away too much? Meanwhile, Apple is in the midst of its annual developer conference, WWDC. The keynote didn't reveal any new hardware, but revealed the iOS 15 features coming to iPhones later this year, along with a few upgrades for Apple Watches, AirPods, iPads, and more. This week on Fast Charge we preview OnePlus's upcoming budget phones, take a look at the just-announced Oppo Reno 6 series, and Lewis gives his glowing review of the ZTE Axon 30 Ultra. OnePlus's Pete Lau confirmed just today that the OnePlus Nord CE is coming in June, along with a cheaper Nord N200. What are we expecting from the next Nord phone, and are we ever getting a proper Nord 2? Meanwhile Oppo just launched the Reno 6 series in China. The three new phones are all upper-mid-range, so won't quite rival the Find X3 Pro, but deliver 90Hz AMOLED panels, 65W charging, and some impressive camera specs. But will they ever make it to Europe? Finally, Lewis has been busy testing out the ZTE Axon 30 Ultra, and the iPhone enthusiast was surprised to find the rare Android flagship that he actually loves. Google I/O 2021 may not have brought with it any hardware announcements, but we got our first official look at Android 12 and some MASSIVE Wear OS news. Android 12 brings a whole new design language (at least for Pixel phones...), key new privacy features, and a host of other smaller changes that will arrive officially this autumn. In the meantime the first public beta is here though, and Toddy is already on it. Meanwhile Wear OS is no more - meet Wear. Google has rebranded its wearable operating system yet again, but there's bigger news: it's working with Samsung to build the new software, and has confirmed that there are Fitbits on the way that will run on Wear too. Finally, we didn't get any new hardware, but that doesn't mean we aren't excited about what's on the way. Jon Prosser leaked a wild new Pixel 6 design, and we're also expecting the Pixel 5a, Pixel Buds A, and maybe even a Pixel foldable this year - here's the latest on them all. The ZenFone 8 and 8 Flip are here, and they've prompted us to ask again: is it small phones' time to shine? The ZenFone 8 is a compact flagship with a 5.9in screen and top-tier specs, joined by a big brother in the ZenFone 8 Flip. That packs the trademark flipping camera module, but drops specs elsewhere to make it work - is it worth the trade-off? Going all-in with a small flagship is a bold move from Asus, and the company was bullish about the benefits. Between that, the iPhone 12 Mini, and the Xperia 5 III, are we in a small phone revolution? Or, as the iPhone sales suggest, are small phones always going to be limited to the small-time? Finally, Carl Pei's post-OnePlus project Nothing has begun teasing its first launch in earnest: the Nothing Ear 1 headphones. The drip-feed news cycle is classic OnePlus, but despite plenty of announcements, a month out from launch we still know, um, nothing - is all this hype going to help, or is Pei playing with fire? We finally know what Samsung's next two foldable phones will look like, Apple and Epic's courtroom battle has finally begun, and Lewis is ready to review the AirTag. Leaked stills have revealed what the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Z Fold 3 will look like, prompting more talented people than ourselves to put together high-res renders for a better look at the final designs. With plenty of specs leaked too, how are the future foldables shaping up? Meanwhile, Apple and Epic's courtroom, um, epic, has kicked off this week. We'll round up some of the biggest discoveries from the legal battle, which has already embroiled Sony and Microsoft too. Finally, Lewis is ready to review the Apple AirTag, with Jim and Toddy on hand to help assess it against Tile, Chipolo, and Samsung's SmartTag. Vivo has unveiled the V21, its latest selfie-focussed mid-range contender, while we've reviewed two other affordable options: the Poco X3 Pro and Moto G100. The V21 and V21 5G are the successors to last year's Vivo V20. They build on that phone's 44Mp selfie camera by also throwing in OIS on the front lens - a first for any phone. Could this be the best phone for selfies anywhere? Meanwhile Dom has been testing out the Poco X3 Pro, the follow-up to our favourite budget phone of 2020. The Pro model upgrades the chipset without raising the price - can anything stand in Poco's way in the budget segment? Finally, Lewis has his thoughts on the Moto G100. This is the most powerful G-series phone yet, but its real USP is Moto's new 'Ready For' dock, which turns this mid-range contender into a portable desktop replacement. Apple's first event of 2021 is here, and we're ready to review Huawei's Mate X2 foldable and the controversial OnePlus Watch. First up, Apple has outfitted its latest iPad Pro models with its powerful M1 chip, 5G, and some nifty display tech - which leaves us wondering when they're going to finally give in and merge them with the Mac. Dom's spent 7 days with the Huawei Mate X2 and is ready to let you know what he thinks about the world's most expensive phone. TL;DR: the hardware is killer but you still shouldn't buy one. Sony has finally thrown down the gauntlet with its 2021 flagship phones, ZTE has launched a new flagship series, and Anyron lets us know what he thinks after fully testing the Nubia Red Magic 6. First up, Sony has launched the Xperia 1 III, 5 III and 10 III all together. The 1 III is the real star, with the industry's first 4K 120Hz display and dynamic focal length periscopic camera, but is that enough to break Sony out of its niche appeal? ZTE is next up, with a new trio of flagships led by the Axon 30 Ultra - notable in part because it's actually getting a global release, including the US. It boasts a triple 64Mp camera setup and a 144Hz display, but notably doesn't include the under-display selfie camera of last year's Axon 20 5G. It's been a sad week in the phone world, as LG officially bows out of the business, but before that we have new phones from Lenovo and Nokia to worry about. The Legion Phone Duel 2 is Lenovo's second-gen eccentric gaming phone, with twin batteries and the side-mounted selfie camera now joined by an RGB panel on the phone's rear. Should Asus be running scared? Meanwhile Nokia has launched a selection of six brand-new phones amid a massive revamp of its phone branding that drops the decimals and introduces C, G, and X ranges - alongside its own new mobile network. Finally, we'll pour one out for poor old LG - and the Rollable phone we're now never going to see. This week was all about Xiaomi, with the company unveiling too many products to count at its two-part Mega Launch - but we're most excited by the Mi Mix Fold and Mi 11 Ultra, of course. The Mi Mix Fold is Xiaomi's first foray into foldables. It packs a familiar design, but with Xiaomi's own spin on the specs and a price that undercuts both Huawei and Samsung - shame it's only launching in China. The new members of the Mi 11 series will go global though, with the Mi 11i, Mi 11 Lite, Mi 11 Pro and Mi 11 Ultra all here. Here's what to expect from all four, especially the new super flagship Ultra phone. Finally, as promised, we're revisiting the Vivo X60 series as Dom gives his reviews of the X60 Pro and X60 Pro+. The OnePlus 9 series is finally here - so why aren't Dom and Chris very impressed? They're joined by the Realme 8 and Poco F3 & X3 Pro in a very busy week for phone launches - so busy we don't even have time for the Moto G100 or Vivo X60! First up, we've reviewed the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro, but we don't love them. Chunky designs and a camera with a lot of room for improvement - so much for Hasselblad's help - mean for the first time we're hesitant to recommend the new OnePlus flagships. Luckily things are better when it comes to the Realme 8. Toddy's reviewed the 8 Pro and come away seriously impressed - though can it quite match the Redmi Note 10 Pro at the exact same price? And finally, Poco has unveiled its own next pair of budget beasts: the X3 Pro and F3, along with the new(ish) Snapdragon 860 chipset that powers the X3 Pro. This week we tackle the launch of two new Samsung phones, review the Redmi Note 10 Pro, and why leaks have changed tech launches - for good. First up, Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy A52 and A72 (and technically two different models of the A52, but now we're getting messy). The A51 was one of last year's best-selling phones, so how do Samsung's mid-rangers fare for 2021? Meanwhile Chris joins the show to tell us how he's gotten on with the Redmi Note 10 Pro - a $279 marvel that may just be one of the best budget phones on the market right now, though there are a couple reasons he couldn't give it the coveted 5 stars. And finally, in a month that's seen Samsung, Apple, and OnePlus all deal with launch event leaks, have leakers fundamentally changed the nature of tech launches? And why have each of these three companies responded to them so differently? This podcast is produced by IDG Communications. 2021's phone launches are heating up, with the Find X3 Pro and ROG Phone 5 both joining the fray this week. Dom is ready to review the Find X3 Pro, which packs in dual primary cameras, a special microlens, and one biiiiiillion colours. It's also shiny as heck, but that's neither here nor there. Meanwhile Lewis and our special guest Adam Patrick Murray have both been playing with the Asus ROG Phone 5, and are here to answer all your burning questions about the giant gaming phone, its OLED rear panel, and why the hell you'd need 18GB of RAM in a phone. Finally, we couldn't get Adam on the show without making him talk cameras. It's the day after the 2020 Iowa caucuses, and the Iowa Democratic Party has yet to announce the winner. The app that precinct leaders were supposed to use to report final tallies recorded inconsistent results. Party leaders blamed a "coding issue" within the app, not a hack or attack.
