Narang's work has been recognized by many awards and special designations, Narang's work has been recognized by many awards and special designations, including the 2023 Guggenheim Fellowship in Physics, Maria Goeppert Mayer Award from the American Physical Society, 2023 ONR Young Investigator Award, 2022 Outstanding Early Career Investigator Award from the Materials Research Society, Mildred Dresselhaus Prize, Bessel Research Award from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, a Max Planck Sabbatical Award from the Max Planck Society, and the IUPAP Young Scientist Prize in Computational Physics all in 2021, an NSF CAREER Award in 2020, being named a Moore Inventor Fellow by the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, CIFAR Azrieli Global Scholar by the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research, a Top Innovator by MIT Tech Review (MIT TR35), and a leading young scientist by the World Economic Forum in 2018.In 2017, Dr. Narang was named by Forbes Magazine on their “30under30” list for her work in atom-by-atom quantum engineering, that is, designing materials at the smallest scale, using single atoms, to enable the leap to quantum technologies. Dr. Narang has held leadership roles in a DOE EFRC ‘Photonics at Thermodynamic Limits', DOE NQI Quantum Science Center, and the NSF ERC ‘Center for Quantum Networks', among others. Her continued service to the science community includes chairing the Gordon Conference on Ultrafast and Cooperative Phenomena, Materials Research Society (MRS) Spring Meeting (2022) and the MRS-Kavli Foundation Future of Materials Workshop: Computational Materials Science (2021), organizing APS, Optica (OSA), and SPIE symposia, and a leadership role in APS' Division of Materials Physics. Narang is an Associate Editor at ACS Nano of the American Chemical Society, an Associate Editor at Applied Physics Letters of the American Institute of Physics, and the Editorial Advisory Boards of Nano Letters and Advanced Photonics. 

Doug Ryan, CEO of Arineta, describes the advancements in cardiac CT imaging technology and how their ultra-fast scanning is revealing more accurate and higher-quality imaging of the heart. Using wide-area coverage and deep learning image reconstruction, the Arineta platform can detect arterial occlusions and coronary plaque buildup, which is a significant risk factor for sudden cardiac events and is often missed when relying solely on calcium scoring. The development of a mobile cardiac CT scanning unit is improving access to this technology, particularly in rural and underserved areas. Doig explains, "What you're trying to do is to stop the most complex organ inside the human body. The human heart translates, rotates, and beats somewhere between 60 and 100 beats per minute. So you really need advanced CT technology that comprises a great many areas, but the most important things are coverage speed and the ability to reconstruct it very quickly." "You're using advanced algorithms like our DLIR, our deep learning image reconstruction, which focuses on high-contrast, high-spatial, low-noise reconstructions that can then be put into what we call a multiplanar format. So you can look at these coronary arteries from all angles and do the diagnostic." "So it's actually a combination of several things. Ultra FAST is, of course, very important because you are literally trying to stop a bird mid-flight and get an accurate picture of it, but it's also the ability to encompass and see the entire heart in a single rotation. Physicist Matthias Kling studies photons and the things science can do with ultrafast pulses of X-rays. These pulses last just attoseconds – a billionth of a billionth of a second, Kling says. He uses them to create slo-mo “movies” of electrons moving through materials like those used in batteries and solar cells. Tearfund is raising concerns about how many New Zealanders are shopping on ultra-fast fashion websites - and the hidden costs that come with lower prices. New reports show one in four adults have recently shopped on Temu and around 14 percent have shopped on Shein. The 2024 Ethical Fashion Report gives Shein a score of 20 out of 100 - and Temu a 0. Tearfund's Claire Gray says many Kiwis are in a tough financial spot and will look for lower prices, but it's likely workplace exploitation runs rampant within these companies. "Our cost of living is rising and we're faced with situations where we need to buy items, clothes or other things from places that we know may not be treating workers well in their supply chains. It's a really tough position to be in." Temu has released a statement responding to, and refuting the allegations of workplace exploitation. "Temu is committed to upholding ethical, humane, and lawful business practices, as outlined in our Third-Party Code of Conduct.
