Covering all the action from the Fed with a 25 bps cut to the Fed funds rate. Action from Merck licensing a GLP-1 drug from LaNova Medicines and the ripple effect it caused in the other pharma stocks. AMD vs. NVDA for 25! Which stocks do you have that you plan to keep forever? I have a few that I have trimmed or pulled some profits from but don't plan to sell out of anytime soon! We look at the moves from the Fed and their decision to cut 50 BPS. What that means for us as investors and consumers, why we should pay attention and how it differs from Treasury yields. How the Fed Funds rate differs from the 10 year yield and why mortgage rates aren't dropping as fast as the Fed funds rate. What the Fed rate means for consumers. Typically we look at growth stocks, industrials and financials in this environment but many of them seem over valued to me at this point. After NVDA's mind numbing run I have decided to take a bit more off the table and further cut my position down to size...but is my move enough? Writing covered calls on QCOM and selling off most of my position there. As rate cuts get nearer we look at stocks that should benefit from lower costs of borrowing, but we are also looking at the stocks that benefit when the consumer has a lower cost to borrow. We always hear that the NASDAQ names are more rate sensitive, but housing, car sales, some retail and banking names should also rise a bit as rates settle back down at lower levels. Many names continue to buyback their shares and/or also raise their dividends and a good number of those stocks are where I am looking to park some cash for dividends and long term gains. Week 27 1. However, in this historic moment of pivotal social and political change, medicine was also fast evolving to meet the needs of the time. Unprecedented strides were made in the science of medicine, and as women and African Americans were admitted into the field for the first time. The Civil War marked a revolution in healthcare, laying the foundations for the system we know today. Drawing on her new book Healing a Divided Nation, Carole Adrienne tracks this remarkable and fierce transformation in its cultural and historical context, illustrating how the advancements made in these four years reverberated throughout the western world for years to come. Adrienne is an author and documentary filmmaker. She has served on advisory panels for the Philadelphia Archdiocesan Historic Research Center and exhibitions on Civil War medicine and the 1918 flu epidemic for the Mutter Museum.
