But as the technology has evolved, it has grown beyond stocking stuffers into a $4B industry with limitless uses for consumers and businesses alike. Pebblebee is at the forefront of Tracking 3.0 and is creating a connected global tracking ecosystem for all. A major complaint against digital tracking solutions such as AirTag, SmartTag, Tile, etc. is that they either only work exclusively for iOS or Android, or you have to use it with a specific app. Pebblebee is the first tracking solution that is cross platform compatible and works natively on iOS or Android. Pebblebee includes both B2B and B2C offerings. The company has announced new partnerships in 2023 with sports brands including Peak Ski Company and Henry-Griffitts golf clubs. On May 10, Pebblebee will be part of a major global announcement and will be introducing three new devices that will further the company's mission to create its global tracking ecosystem. Peak Ski Company and its strategic partner Pebblebee® unveiled PEAK Lôc8™, a first-of-its-kind locating and tracking device that will be embedded within certain models of Peak Ski Company's 2023/24 line of innovative skis. There are ways around safeguards. https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2023/05/apple-google-partner-on-an-industry-specification-to-address-unwanted-tracking/ UPDATE - May 2, 2023 Apple and Google lead initiative for an industry specification to address unwanted tracking Companies welcome input from industry participants and advocacy groups on a draft specification to alert users in the event of suspected unwanted tracking Excerpt from article: Apple & Google have adjusted their operating systems to combat unwanted tracking. Today Apple and Google jointly submitted a proposed industry specification to help combat the misuse of Bluetooth location-tracking devices for unwanted tracking. The first-of-its-kind specification will allow Bluetooth location-tracking devices to be compatible with unauthorized tracking detection and alerts across iOS and Android platforms. Samsung, Tile, Chipolo, eufy Security, and Pebblebee have expressed support for the draft specification, which offers best practices and instructions for manufacturers, should they choose to build these capabilities into their products. “Apple launched AirTag to give users the peace of mind knowing where to find their most important items,” said Ron Huang, Apple's vice president of Sensing and Connectivity. “We built AirTag and the Find My network with a set of proactive features to discourage unwanted tracking — a first in the industry — and we continue to make improvements to help ensure the technology is being used as intended. This new industry specification builds upon the AirTag protections, and through collaboration with Google results in a critical step forward to help combat unwanted tracking across iOS and Android.” “Bluetooth trackers have created tremendous user benefits, but they also bring the potential of unwanted tracking, which requires industrywide action to solve,” said Dave Burke, Google's vice president of Engineering for Android. “Android has an unwavering commitment to protecting users, and will continue to develop strong safeguards and collaborate with the industry to help combat the misuse of Bluetooth tracking devices.” Seg. 4 RFID – tracking tech with badges Safety – tech tracking to find people in remote places like ski mountains or hiking trails Long Range tracking thru radar tech like walkie talkie Satellite connectivity w/ smart phone – track people with little to no cell coverage, using direct line of sight to the sky for a satellite Safety on college campus – ie – Georgia Tech implemented safety alert system Other industries can use this type of tech also – Hospitals with nurses, or Hotel staff Crowd GPS – can pick up tracking device via other cell devices in close area, if person with tracker lost their phone Tech Topic: https://brt-show.libsyn.com/category/Tech More - BRT Best of Tech: Best of AZ Tech Council BRT of Tech 2022 BRT S02 EP52 (99) 12-26-2021 – Tech for the Holidays – BRT Thanks for Listening Please Subscribe to the Podcast Business Roundtable with Matt Battaglia The show where Entrepreneurs, High Level Executives, Business Owners, and Investors come to share insight and ideas about the future of business. Have you ever lost your keys or wallet? Of course you have! And it always happens at just the wrong time. You're running late and headed out the door and your keys are nowhere to be found. Now you've got to spend time that you don't have looking for your keys, making you even later for wherever you're headed. Fortunately, there is an easy way to solve this problem thanks to the team at Chipolo. What is Chipolo?Chipolo is a company that produces a line of products to help you find what might get lost. The product works by attaching a small Bluetooth LE tracker to the item that you want to track. When you need to locate the item, simply open the corresponding app and, if you are within range, press a button to cause the tracker to make noise. If you are outside of the transceiver's range, you still have the ability to track it. By default, the app will show you the last place that it was encountered. If you are in a remote place, or in a private location, you will see a map showing where your device last encountered it. If the device is in a more public place, it can be tracked live through interactions with other phones and tablets within range. Why Chipolo? The line is similar to some of the other brands you may have heard of, but with a variety of benefits that are lacking with others. Firstly, the most obvious difference is that Chipolo makes products that work with both Apple's and Google's ecosystems. So, no matter what type of phone you own, you still have the ability to use a Chipolo tracker.Another benefit is that the trackers come in a variety of colors and styles. For example, if you are looking to put one in your wallet, the company offers a slim tracker that looks like a credit card called the CARD. For keys, backpacks, and other uses, there is a small round tracker with a mounting hole in it, called the ONE. Offering multiple styles with different purposes makes the product more versatile. Having one product that tries to do everything means that it doesn't do anything great. In addition, the ability to purchase in different colors allows you to really personalize your experience. You can also easily differentiate between two similar items because of the color of the Chipolo tag attached. For example, our team has several of the same camera bag, but we can differentiate between the team bags because of the color of the tracker.Which Chipolo to chooseIf you are securely in the Apple product family, the line you want to look at is the Spot. This family works with Apple's Find My ecosystem, allowing all iPhones and iPads to help locate it. If you are in the Android camp, or you have a mixed collection, then the original family is for you.Either way, both product families are available for purchase today. To learn more or to buy some for yourself, head over to the company's website, or find the products on Amazon or Best Buy.Interview by Marlo Anderson of The Tech Ranch.Sponsored by: Get $5 to protect your credit card information online with Privacy. Warning - there's a LOT of swearing in this one, so if there are sensitive little ears present, maybe save it till later...We recorded this on the 10th of April as Scott Morrison called the election. It's another short one as Inger was already deep in campaigning for the Greens, We did manage to cover a lot of ground though (actually, it's not that short because we can't shut up once we get going). Jason is still enjoying #newjob where he is temporarily #bigboss. He's thinking about how to keep his people safe by planning a fire drill... which gives Inger the chance to tell him about the time she ignored the fire alarms because a teacher told her too and had to be evacuated from an RMIT building by hunky fire fighters. Jason then shares the existential crisis he had at breakfast time from reading Oliver Burkemans '4000 weeks' but the good news is he has worked out why he keeps losing the damn book around the house. Inger has a big old rant about the stupid new rule the Australian government has brought in about international students and look - she swears. Like a lot. You can read the article she wrote later that afternoon 'is this now the federal government's most bone headed idea ever'. Inger did find some research to share about podcast listeners though, which shows you are very agreeable types, so hopefully you'll forgive the swearing...Finally, Jason has a new Chipolo 'spot card' for tracking his bullet journal in case he loses it and Inger shares her new found love for MicroSoft Teams. Yes. Really. It was fun! Stay tuned for an 'unplugged' episode which will drop in a week or so. This campaign campaign is so hectic we don't even have time to write show notes right now, but regular programming will return soon we promise xxMentioned: Oliver Burkemans '4000 weeks'Podcast listeners likely to be more agreeable and less neuroticChipolo spot cardLeave us a message on www.speakpipe.com/thesiswhisperer.
