This week, I am joined by Jake Morrison. Jake is the Chief Executive at Citizens Advice Wokingham in Berkshire. At 18 he was the youngest elected politician in the UK joining Liverpool City Council in 2011 and working as a Member of Parliament at 19. He is open about living with mental ill-health, having Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder, C-PTSD and ADHD. His style of leadership is completely true and real. It's almost beyond authentic leadership. This is leadership where you are showing up with how you are feeling. You're showing up with empathy and understanding, and you are also showing up with vulnerability and sharing the truth of what's going on for you. Jake Morrison from the US has been living in Taiwan for almost 30 years, and been running his tech company here for 19 years.His focus is converting business opportunities into new products, designing user experiences and then bringing them to life. Morrison has delivered hundreds of projects in health care, FinTech, AdTech, telecom, and supply chain, including challenging high-integrity and high-performance apps handling billions of transactions a day.Morrison finished his Bachelor of Science (BS), Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical/Space Engineering from the University of Southern California. He also went to the National Taiwan Normal University for Chinese language studies, he is fluent in business and technical Chinese with HSK 5+ level. He also studied Japanese Language from the National Taiwan University, he is intermediate Japanese JPT3+ level.Despite being in Taiwan for almost 30 years, he hasn't applied for permanent residency. Jake Morrison has been taking pictures most of his life. Like many photographers, He is often called upon to shoot different types of events; however, landscapes large and small are what really interests him.  The body of Jake's work includes large panoramic vistas of the Yukon and collages of flowers shot in his studio. At first glance the styles look like they were taken by two different photographers, but there is a unifying connection between them, which he explains in the podcast. A natural explorer, Jake’s investigations have included taking classes at the University of Ottawa, the Ottawa School of Art, and the School of photographic Arts (SPAO), he also spends time reading, studying the works of others, like painter/photographer David Hockney, and experimenting with subjects that fascinates him. Since 2006, Jake has been exhibiting his work in solo and group shows primarily in Ottawa and in Toronto.  Jake's passion for photography takes him beyond his own work.
