Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin had been asked questions many times about making a sequel to their 1996 smash hit Independence Day. Several times they came close to doing so over the years, including an ambitious plan to shoot two films back to back at one stage. Yet when it came time to move forward, the big question they faced: would Will Smith want to return? And could 20th Century Fox afford him? The story of Independence Day: Resurgence is told here. As a director, Dexter Fletcher announced himself with the impressive low budget success Wild Bill. But he was on the lookout for something different, something out of his comfort zone for his next film. What, then, about a muscal movie set around the tunes of The Proclaimers? Enter stage left, Sunshine On Leith. Tales of both are told in this episode... --- EXCLUSIVE NordVPN Deal ➼ https://nordvpn.com/filmstories Try it risk-free now with a 30-day money-back guarantee! We're onto a new theme and kicking things off watching Independence Day Resurgence (2016), the anticipated sequel to the iconic film that cemented Will Smith as an movie star. While Smith is noticeably missing from this movie, they brought back almost everyone else from the classic, and introduced us to random new characters that we care little about. In this episode we discuss the futuristic look of the world (and space) 20 years later, the queen alien's design, and suggest an alternate plot that should have been explored.

The Ancient Draco vs Negumak Conflict – Its Impact on Earth Joining the Galactic Federation

EXOPOLITICS TODAY with Dr. Michael Salla

Play Episode Listen Later May 8, 2023 93:24

The Negumak are a powerful insectoid species that are the ancient enemies of the Draconian Reptilian Empire that have long interfered in human affairs. Reclusive and mysterious, the Negumak have long been courted by the Galactic Federation of Worlds to join their growing alliance against the Draconians & the latter's Orion Gray (Nebu) allies in an ongoing galactic-wide conflict. In her 2021 book, A Gift from the Stars, Elena Danaan first described the Negumak & failed Galactic Federation efforts to recruit them. In this interview, Danaan describes her recent updates about attending a diplomatic meeting on April 19 involving the Negumak & their response to a renewed Galactic Federation attempt to have them join their alliance against the Draconian Empire. She claims that recent Negumak skirmishes with the Draco have created the conditions for a union to be finally formed. Such an alliance will have significant implications for Earth as humanity is on course to join the Galactic Federation after the final defeat of the Deep State, which comprises the former minions of the Draco Empire. In 1989, the Negumak first made contact with Earth's governments. Soon after the Draco's Deep State minions went into action by starting a psychological warfare campaign depicting the Negumak as evil aliens with genocidal plans for humanity. Movies such as Independence Day and the Alien vs. Predator series of movies are examples of this covert perception campaign emerging from Hollywood blockbuster movies. In the two Alien vs Predator movies, the Predators (resembling Draco Reptilians) are depicted as frenemies to humanity, whereas the Aliens (resembling Negumak) are portrayed as genocidal. This covert psychological warfare program is best evidenced by comparing Danaan's drawing of a Negumak after she received a mental image of one from Thor Han Eredyon that appeared in her 2021 book. The side-by-side comparison of a Negumak with the Alien Queen shown in Independence Day: Resurgence shows a striking resemblance. The uncanny resemblance suggests that Roland Emmerich, the Director/Producer of the Independence Day series, was given an image of a Negurak and told to make it the ultimate genocidal villain for the movie series. In this interview Danaan further describes the significance of the Anunnaki siding with the Galactic Federation in a looming galactic confrontation with the Draco Empire & their allies. Her Galactic Federation sources say that a galactic war with the Draco Empire is looming & both sides are recruiting allies & preparing for the inevitable confrontation. Danaan next discusses her upcoming book Area 51: Conversations with Insider Stephen Chua. Chua was a supersoldier from Singapore who had special abilities and was trained to fight against Draconians. Chua spent time at Area 51, where he was exposed to some of the advanced technologies used in secret space programs. Her book, which is scheduled to be released on June 1, presents the transcripts of many hours of interviews and communications she had with Chua before his death after his first public interview. The sequence of events culminating in Chua's death suggests that he knew he was dying due to Deep State machinations and wished his testimony would be made public before it was too late. Finally, Danaan and Dr. Salla discuss some of the implications of extraterrestrial disclosure for the three Abrahamic religions, particularly the identity of the alleged Creator God called Yahweh/Jehovah/Allah in relation to the principal Anunnaki revered as gods by the ancient Sumerians. They also discuss Yeshua/Jesus' secret teachings that focused on establishing a connection with an Inner Light that is part of a Universal God rather than a single Creator God & how the Roman Catholic Church suppressed these teachings after becoming the Roman Empire's state religion. Today I'm joined by legendary character actor William Fichtner. I had him on the show to discuss his latest film 88. Having appeared in a wide range of films along with television and theater roles over the course of his career, William Fichtner continues to carve out a distinctive reputation as one of our most versatile and talented actors, whether in comedy or drama, action or character study. He is one of Hollywood's most distinct and familiar faces. Fichtner can next be seen in the Robert Rodriguez feature film Hypnotic alongside Ben Affleck and Alice Braga, and in 88 directed by Thomas Ikimi. Other recent films include The Birthday Cake, co-starring Ewan McGregor and Val Kilmer; The Space Between, opposite Kelsey Grammer and directed by Rachel Winter; Jack & Josie directed by Sarah Lancaster; Armed, written and directed by Mario Van Peebles; Finding Steve McQueen with Forest Whitaker, and opposite Jeffery Wright in the indie feature O.G. directed by Madeleine Sackler that premiered on HBO. Pivoting to the other side of the camera, Fichtner directed, produced, co-wrote, and starred in his feature film Cold Brook shot mostly in his hometown of Buffalo, New York. Segueing between television and feature films, Fichtner led an ensemble cast in the original first 2 seasons of the international crime series Crossing Lines. He recurred on HBO's Entourage from 2009-2011 and played ‘FBI Agent Alexander Mahone' for three seasons on Fox's hit drama series, Prison Break. William recently played Adam on CBS's hit show Mom opposite Allison Janney, from creator Chuck Lorre. Reboot It is back, and we're pitching for our lives! We're on a job-seeking tour of the only game left in Hollywood: Streaming services! The Rock laid the smackdown on us last week, so now it's time to turn our attention to a series that desperately needs it: INDEPENDENCE DAY! "Independence Day" was one of the biggest sci-fi blockbusters of the 90s. The film was the perfect blend of B-Movie tropes with modern-day special effects, with a sprinkling of Hollywood's biggest A-List stars (at the time, at least) in the form of Will Smith, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Vivica A. Fox and the immortal Judd Hirsch. In 2016, a too-little-too-late-too-Smithless sequel arrived with "Independence Day: Resurgence" and killed any interest the public may have had in the series. Now the Reboot Crew is tasked with revitalizing ID4 for a new generation. Will we bring the franchise back to prominence or will it all come crashing down to Earth?! Do you know... because the host doesn't. Discussion Points: -Will Smith didn't return... what a slap in the face for Director Roland Emmerich. -Bill and Sean discuss a film 'that's on a hiding to nothing'. -Sean trots out Bad Reviews (in front of Bill, he's shameless, he really is). -Sean gets surprisingly creative when he can't read out swear words in front of Bill. Random questions: -How many of Bill 'trademark quotes' does Sean rip off? -What the hell is with Sean's three-film Blu-Ray collection? -Where on Earth did the 'Presidential Line of Succession' people come from? Quotes of the episode: "A whole lot of ballooney!" "The logical part of your brain goes oh Jesus no, but the excited part of your brain goes- that would make a great episode!". "Do you want the old characters in it or do you not want them in it? You can't mix and match, this isn't 3 for 2 at Boots, just make your decision and do what you want" "If you take anything away from this review, please do not watch The Mummy (2017), no-one deserves that" "I'm not one for being structured, you might have noticed" I can't watch that film again recommendation: After Earth (2013). Chris & Kelsey celebrate the 4th respectfully and neither kick the tires nor light the fires. The Classic Film: Uncle Sam (1996) "Desert Storm vet who was killed in combat rises from the grave on July Fourth, to kill the unpatriotic citizens of his hometown, after some teens burn an American flag over his burial site” (IMDb.com). It's better than we ever could have expected, but that can't hide its most egregious sin: Uncle Sam is mostly a boring movie. The Modern Film: Independence Day: Resurgence (2016) "Two decades after the first Independence Day invasion, Earth is faced with a new extra-Solar threat. But will mankind's new space defenses be enough?” (IMDb.com). The original is by no means a masterpiece, but it made up for it in charisma. This sequel is just catastrophically bad and there's no amount of well-that-was-kinda-neat-I-guess that can make up for it. These are the voyages of the Starship THN, going boldly where no wiping fabric has gone before. Deep into the anals of hate! (Well, one or two napkins have probably already been there.) Carla from Burnt Corn, Alabama, our Paul-Lynde-center-square-super-guest-star, reaches into her local DQ napkin dispenser and produces a dandy: noise pollution from car stereos. The next time you think the rest of us need to share in your 100 decibel music appreciation, kindly shove your woofer up your keester. Also, what the hell is with service animals these days? Don't emotional support buffaloes cross a line? Who really needs a peacock on an airplane? Sound engineer Pauly from Bali claims service canines in his neck of the woods are best served medium well—though the barkage fees can be expensive. From there, everything goes downhill—or at least downward. Pauly from Bali hates anyone who falls four stories at a construction site, crushes their legs, wrists, pelvis, collapses a lung, and yet somehow manages to survive. Carla agrees: “Yeah, I hate weak ankles.” C'mon, the THN gang isn't totally heartless. What they really hate are faulty scaffolds! Episode 17 is dedicated to Arik's brother, Noah, who's got a long recovery ahead of him. Good luck to him. Ah, screw that! The bastard gets to play video games all day for the next 12 months. Finally, a roundtable discussion on bad movie sequels. Here's a dreadful trifecta: Blade 2, Staying Alive and Independence Day: Resurgence.
