Following a double mastectomy, and hoping to recover in peace, actress Veronica Ghent travels to what she believes will be a solitary retreat in the Scottish Highlands. She's accompanied by a young nurse, Desi, who through sheer will and a good heart is able to put up with Veronica's brusque, standoffish nature. There are other forces at work: the land on which their cabin sits was the burial ground of thousands of alleged witches, whose ashes have fertilized the soil and created ground rich with supernatural power. When her dreams are haunted by visions of witches being burned and silenced, we learn of an incident from Veronica's past involving a famous director and possible abuse. It's an incident that's scarred Veronica as much as her recent surgery. But now, imbued with powers thanks to the the Highlands, Veronica finds herself able to confront the damage done to both mind and body. So we have quite a range of clientele, again ranging from very small to very large. We have found ways to serve them very efficiently in either case. We also have university clients. We do a lot of work on the IP side with university clients, with academic research institutions, helping them protect their intellectual property. And so having this range of different types of clients, I think, gives us an interesting perspective on how to work with different kinds of clients. What we found is that one size does not fit all. What works for a smaller company may not work for a larger company. What a larger company needs from us may be much different than a smaller company, same with universities. So we have custom-tailored our approaches and our teams to serve different types of clients depending on whether they're large, whether they're small, or whether they might be academic or even governmental in nature.[END] About Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP SGR is a full-service, international law firm that advises regional, national and global businesses on a wide range of legal matters. [TRANSCRIPT] Recently, we represented a client in the intellectual property area, which is the area where I practice. We actually took over representation from another law firm. In this case, the client was having difficulty, and the client's former counsel was having difficulty obtaining some patents in some very technological, very complex areas of technology, and they were having difficulty convincing the patent office to grant these patents, so they decided to come to us. This was a software-related technology that the company was developing. They came to us, and we've helped them formulate a better approach, a better strategy to explain to the patent office exactly the nature of the invention, exactly why the invention was different from what's been done before, and we were able to get the patent issued. In this case, we had to appeal the decision, a rejection at the patent office up in Washington, but we were able to convince the judges on appeal that the rejection should be overcome, so were able to get the patents for the client. This was very important for the client because they were looking to do certain things in their business that required them to get the patents issued. Without the patents issued, they were not able to move forward, so they basically were waiting for somebody to help them do this. The prior attorneys were not able to do so, but we came in and effectively saved the day for them.
