The girls are back with an episode that starts with mystical Russian Orthodox nightmare fuel and ends with Argentina turning a serial killer into Friendship Day merch. Totally normal. First, Amy tells the story of Mia and James, a mysterious ex-boyfriend from an Otherworld Patreon story who casually claimed he could have the dreams of people he slept next to. Cute first date chat? No, thank you. Then he accurately described Mia's lifelong recurring childhood nightmare, the one she had never told anyone about, and somehow, after that, the nightmare stopped. And if that wasn't enough, Mia later saw James's body in a mirror with a completely different old man's face, and when James told his therapist, she admitted she had seen the same man too. Then Monique takes us to Buenos Aires for the story of Yiya Murano, the so-called Poisoner of Montserrat, a woman obsessed with status, elegance and living like a socialite on money she did not have. After running a Ponzi scheme on her friends, Yiya allegedly solved her little financial problem by poisoning three women with cyanide. And somehow, after prison, Argentina said: we have a new pop culture icon. We're talking TV appearances, mugs, memes and musicals. This episode has dream stealing, hooved angel warnings, poisoned pastries and a whole lot of “what the fuck?”
千禧年后,虽然在2001年和2002年他也推出了作品,但直到2010至2013年间,才以《Living it Up》、《Sanctified EP》、《We Magnify His Name》和《Phobia》这些重量级经典之作,迎来了真正的辉煌时期。 Robert Hood也开始创作他的个人专辑,如《Internal Empire》、《Nighttime World Volume.1》以及2003年的《Wire to Wire》。 M-Plant中的M就是Minimal(极简)。'”

"[in the play Freud's Last Session]... with the sound of the bombers both men react as they did the first time - with fear. But this time instead of disguising it they admit to it. That admittance was the bond between them. Freud also was shaken by the whole experience. At the very end of the play, and repeatedly through the play, there were reports on the BBC about the war. The BBC at that point had a live orchestra, and when the news was finished the orchestra would jump in and play music until the next news bulletin. Every time the news was over, Freud immediately turned it off, so he didn't have to listen to music. Lewis catches on to that at some point and he equates it with Freud's wall that he puts up to shield his emotions because he feels they are being manipulated. But at the very end of the play, after Lewis leaves, Freud listens to the radio and for the first time he doesn't turn off the music. The last image of the play is him just looking at the radio as if trying to really understand music and his own aversion to it.” Episode Description: The similarity is noted between the clinical encounter and the structure of Mark's play where there are two men in a room intensely engaging with each other. We discuss how the trajectory of the play, like in the consulting room, allows for the emergence of latent meanings to be revealed between Freud and Lewis. Mark shares with us what drew him to these two thinkers and how he created a storyline that would demonstrate the underlying emotional struggles of each, individually and together. It is set at the beginning of World War II, three weeks before Freud's death. The play touches on Freud's childhood, his intense relationship with his daughter Anna and his planned euthanasia. We listen to a reading of a piece of the play that entails a powerful encounter between the characters. Mark has adapted this play for the screen, starring Anthony Hopkins as Freud, that is currently being filmed. We were LIVE for the first time on YouTube. We want to thank everyone who tuned in to listen to this episode live, interact with us and especially to Braden from the ATT (Alien Theorists Theorizing podcast - exclusively on Spotify) for doing all the behind the scenes work as our producer, if anyone is in need of someone to help produce their live shows let us know and we can put you in touch! You can find the episode on our YouTube channel here - https://youtu.be/5j3L8_AMja4 We kicked off talks with story/non-story: Aaron Rodgers is in Hawaii while OTAs are underway (3:50). Is it a big deal? Does this open a door for Jordan Love to make ground on the starting job? We then moved to the news that is at the forefront of NFL talks. Did Julio Jones know he was on national television when Shannon Sharpe called him and put him on speaker phone (8:40)? Where will Julio get traded to? What is his value? Will he be a Raven? Seahawk? Titan? Patriot? 49er? The main attraction of the episode features Steve and Chris going through their WAY too early W-L predictions for each of their teams (Ravens predictions 18:25 and Seahawks predictions 30:55) . Did either guy have their team going undefeated? Let's just say the live YouTube chat was giving the guys a hard time for being homers! This conversation naturally shifts from predictions to which NFL coach will be the first to get fired (45:24). Will your team's coach make the list? Everyone's favorite segment, the Third Down (53:04) features the worst hair in sports/pop culture. There is a very special matchup that you'll have to tune in to, in order to find out! Talks wrap up with the Mailbag (66:45). Thanks to Marquise from the Cover 4 podcast, Ryan from The PP1 Podcast, Calvin Wood, and our good friend Liam Hagerty for submitting their questions. Be sure to submit your questions and we will answer it on the pod! This episode brought to you by the Dean Blundell Network. You can find the show over at deanblundell.com later this week and keep an eye for future blogs coming from Chris and Steve. We would also like to interact more with our listeners, so follow us and drop us a line at any of these over on Twitter: @ballhawks_pod @ssfisher87 and @phillipschris12 Parents will love the opening conversation about our kids farting in the bath tub which leads Steve and Chris down a weird rabbit hole. Gardner Minshew's recent country photos are discussed in depth and why this guy is the epitome of sex appeal. (13:35) NFL talks kick off with the New York Jets trading QB Sam Darnold to the Carolina Panthers, who are now verified friends & followers of the Ball Hawks Podcast! Find out what Steve and Chris think about the deal for each team and their current landscape with players and picks heading into the NFL Draft in just a few weeks. (38:37) The guys reveal the second half of their Mock Drafts from last week. And Chris gets called out about his 40 time leading to a bet. "...as Angie and Jamal both screamed, their mirror images turned and walked back towards, and then into, their room..." A quote from today's second story. Both of today's tales involve mirrors. The first story is all about the Mirror Man of the Midnight Mirror Ritual. If you want to perform this ritual, you're braver than we are. The second story is about a young couple bringing home what appears to be an intensely haunted antique. In this episode, guitarist Jeff Cotton (known as 'Antennae Jimmy Semens') talks for the first time ever in public about his experience working with Captain Beefheart and his Magic Band on the albums Strictly Personal, Mirror Man and of course, Trout Mask Replica.Famously publicity-shy, Jeff granted me the honour of this first ever interview, filling in crucial details of his story, and providing a new perspective on the making of some of the most beguiling albums ever recorded. He also discusses his subsequent musical projects, and talks about where he is at today.**SUPPORT THIS PODCASTPatreonDonorboxLINKSYouTube channelOfficial WebsiteTwitterInstagramEdition Impronta, publisher of Samuel Andreyev's scoresEPISODE CREDITSSpoken introduction: Maya RasmussenPodcast artwork photograph © 2019 Philippe StirnweissSupport the show (http://www.patreon.com/samuelandreyev)
Most bands make their first album the eponymous one, but Genesis waited until their twelfth studio album to name it Genesis. This one continues the trend toward pop that started with "Abacab" and "Three Sides Live," but maintains the prog rock and art rock connections of their roots. By this time Genesis consisted of Mike Rutherford on keyboards, Tony Banks on guitar, and Phil Collins on drums and lead vocals. Collins would become a celebrity shortly after this album was released.Folks, there's not a bad song on this entire album. We hope you enjoy this salute to Genesis as much as we enjoyed making it.“Home By the Sea”This deep cut tells the story of a burglar who unwittingly breaks into a haunted house, and is subjected to the stories "As we relive our lives in what we tell you." The album cut for this song drifts into a largely instrumental and percussion piece called "Second Home By the Sea."“Illegal Alien”Phil Collins dons a fake accent for this political but tongue in cheek take on the American immigration situation in 1983. The bridge consists of a sample of street sounds. "Over the border there lies the promised land where everything comes easy. You just hold out your hand."“Job to Do”This rocking deep cut has a keyboard sound more reminiscent of Abacab. Collins would pull away from intensely focusing on Genesis to spend more time with family after this album. Genesis is unusually talented at the transitions in their songs.“Silver Rainbow”This low key track has a lot of fantasy and prog rock elements. "But if you're sitting there beside her and a bear walks in the room, and you keep on going, 'cause you're unaware..."ENTERTAINMENT TRACK:R.E.M. - Radio Free Europe R.E.M. made their debut on the David Letterman show this month.STAFF PICKS:“It Must Be Love” by MadnessBrian's staff pick is from the group better known for "Our House." This song received some air play on radio and video, but Madness was much more popular in the UK. “Promises, Promises” by Naked EyesThis first wave, synth-driven song screams early 80's. Naked Eyes formed after the breakup of the band "Neon." The other members of "Neon" formed the group "Tears for Fears." “Monkey On Your Back” by Aldo NovaBruce's staff pick is from Canadian singer and producer Aldo Nova, and tells a story of lives destroyed by drugs, "a dragon that bites a hole in his arm at night." “Mirror Man” by the Human LeagueRob continues the synth pop trend of this week. The Human League sang with a British accent, somewhat unusual in the music of the time. The Human League still tours today. The Mirror Man was revealed to be Adam Ant many years after the song's release. LAUGH TRACK:“Far From Over” by Frank StalloneThis is the only top 10 song from "Staying Alive," the underwhelming sequel to “Saturday Night Fever.”
Captain Beefheart special with John French in conversation with David Eastaugh. French was invited to join Beefheart and the Magic Band in late 1966, as a replacement for Paul Blakely. Having played on Safe as Milk (1967), his distinctive drumming style moulded the driving heavy psychedelic blues of Strictly Personal (1968) and Mirror Man (1968, but not released till 1971). During the Trout Mask Replica sessions, French transcribed the musical ideas Beefheart played for him on piano for the rest of the band. However, shortly after the completion of Trout Mask Replica, French was booted out of the group rather violently by Beefheart and was replaced by the inexperienced Jeff Bruschell. French was also contentiously omitted from the credits of Trout Mask Replica and was largely absent from the band photos taken for the artwork. Nevertheless, he was soon invited back and played on the critically acclaimed albums Lick My Decals Off, Baby and The Spotlight Kid, sharing percussion duties with Art Tripp aka Ed Marimba. Then in late 1972, just before an American tour, he left again. Beefheart's contractual problems in 1975 forced him to join Frank Zappa's Bongo Fury tour,[citation needed] but as soon as he was able he reformed The Magic Band and French was recruited as both drummer and music director. 1976 saw the recording of the original version of Bat Chain Puller, which due to legal ownership problems remained unreleased until 2012. French also played guitar as well as drums on some of these songs. He walked out on Beefheart when his friend John Thomas (keyboards) was sacked from the band. French visited Beefheart in 1980 looking for work and was hired to take part in the recording of Doc at the Radar Station, playing guitar (and drumming on two tracks). He left before the band toured though, when Beefheart handed him a list of 40 songs to learn over a 3-month period. French sealed the walkout the next day by returning the guitar Beefheart had loaned him.

This week's episode was the latest winner of our Facebook poll, chosen by you our lovely listeners. The movie chosen was Gone in 60 Seconds a 2000 "classic" that has finally gave us the opportunity to watch a Nicolas Cage film. Listen as we discuss the plausibility of this whole movie and why the LAPD doesn't know how to properly use a helicopter. We question why some characters were given way too much screen time (Mirror Man we are looking at you) while others (Sway, Donny, pretty much everyone else) didn't. As always, we award the best and worst. Will Nicolas Cage himself win the coveted award named after him? Listen to find out! Ian Burden was a key member of the revolutionary new wave band the Human League during their imperial 80s period. Philip Oakey was desperate to find band members during the lead-up to the creation of 1981's game-changing album Dare! and called upon Burden to bring his musicianship to the group, which lead to classic singles like "The Sound of the Crowd," "Love Action," and "Mirror Man." After the unpleasant experience of recording 1986's Crash with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Ian decided to leave the group and a music career. Yet, out of nowhere, last year he put out his first solo album Hey Hey Ho Hum, which sounds exactly like the album a former Human League member should make. In this chat we discuss all of it - the albums, the hits, the ups, the downs and the motivations for a solo album at this stage. What an honor to hear from him! http://www.ianburden.uk/

It was one of those things in my life that just clicked...boom. This is where I'm supposed to be, and I've been doing it ever since.- Sean CorvelleSean Corvelle has played a variety of different roles in his career as an actor, a comedian, and a television host. But for the last eleven years he has been inspiring and motivating athletes and weekend warriors across the world at the Tough Mudder starting line. He is also the host of Tough Mudder's No Excuses podcast of which I was recently a guest on (you can hear my interview with Sean here.)Like most of us, Sean came to Hollywood with stars in his eyes hoping to build a career that would bring out the best in him - a career that fulfilled him while also allowing him to be creative, to perform, and to ultimately be successful. Similar to my own path, Sean discovered that the more success he attained in Hollywood, the further away he got from himself and his core values. The higher he climbed the ladder, the more it burned him out, and the less he wanted to be on the ladder at all. Tough Mudder became the unexpected calling that Sean never imagined. In today's conversation Sean shares his advice, experience, and stories about what it took to listen to his soul in order to leave behind a career in Hollywood. If you have ever felt stuck or you're unsure of the right path for you, get ready to be inspired and motivated to take just one small step towards forward progress today. Whether you have run an obstacle course race or not (or if you could honestly care less about mud runs), the lessons Sean shares in this conversation apply to every aspect of life.Want to Hear More Episodes Like This One?» Click here to subscribe and never miss another episode Here's What You'll Learn:How does Sean answer the question, "what do you do for a living?"How he got the job as Tough Mudder's starting line inspirational speaker. What Sean's first ever Tough Mudder starting line speech was like and how it evolved.Sean discusses the audition process in Hollywood from his perspective. Why it's important to not let success define you.How he became known as "The Mirror Man".Instrumental quotes from Tough Mudder and what Sean learned from the requests for them.Lessons learned from Hollywood. Why Sean believes our souls don't change, instead they just expand. How Tough Mudder is designed to be done together and what people learn from that experience. The two common excuses people use to avoid signing up for a race. How to overcome your hesitations to race. The lessons learned in Tough Mudder apply to every aspect of life even if you just show up to volunteer and not race.Inspiring stories of Tough Mudder runners never quitting.Sean's advice to his younger self in his darkest moment.Useful Resources Mentioned:No Excuses Episode 61: Zack Arnold on How to Optimize Yourself - Tough MudderCarlos Alazraqui - Comedian/Actor/ProducerContinue to Listen & LearnEp165: How to Overcome Doubting Yourself When You Know You're Meant For More | with Sandy Zimmerman, ANWEp122: 'Superfood Hunter' Darin Olien On How To Be Healthy, Fit, and Eternally AwesomeEp120: The Ninja Warrior Mother-Daughter Dynamic Duo, Part 1 | with Ginny MacColl, ANWEp121: The Ninja Warrior Mother-Daughter Dynamic Duo, Part 2 | with Jessie Graff, ANWEp06: Defining Your Purpose and Living Large | with Tony HortonEp68: How to Go From Couch to the (Spartan) Course | with Rose Wetzel, ANWEp60: Getting 1% Better Every Single Day | with Westley Silvestri, ANWEp49: Mastering The Mental Game of Focus | with Kevin Bull, ANWEp67: How to Be 'Better Than Yesterday' | With Jimmy Choi, ANWGuest Bio: Sean Corvelle Born in Annapolis MD, Sean Corvelle grew up partly in Baltimore and the other half of his childhood in the San Francisco Bay Area. It was soon after high school when he began his professional journey in the field of entertainment as a stand-up comedian.
