Send us a textThink eating less and exercising more is the secret to fat loss after 50? Think again. In this episode, I'm joined by Silver Edge Coach and Program Manager Monica Jacobs — and we're blowing up one of the biggest myths in the weight loss world: That starving yourself is the fastest path to fat loss. (Spoiler alert: It's actually the fastest path to a broken metabolism, zero energy, stalled fat loss, and feeling like garbage.) This episode is your crash course in what actually works for sustainable fat loss after 50 — and why your old diet tricks might be doing you way more harm than good. We break down:- Why eating more (not less) is often the key to fat loss over 50 - How to rebuild a sluggish, diet-damaged metabolism - The real reason your scale isn't moving (it's not what you think) - Why cardio might be killing your results - And the exact blueprint we use with our clients to help them build lean, strong, fat-burning bodies — for life Bottom line? If you're tired of feeling like your metabolism has left the building… this episode is for you. Join the 21-Day Metabolic Makeover Challenge (Starts April 21, 2025!) Send us a textWelcome to a special replay episode of the Over 50 Health & Wellness Show! With registration officially open for our upcoming 21 Day Metabolic Makeover Challenge (kicking off April 21st!)… I thought this was the perfect time to bring back one of my all-time favorite conversations. In this episode, you'll meet Nicole Hansen — a Silver Edge client who knows exactly what it feels like to be stuck in the never-ending cycle of dieting, cardio, frustration… and zero results. Nicole spent decades doing everything “right.” → Eating 1200 calories a day. → Doing hours of cardio. → Feeling exhausted, defeated, and convinced her metabolism was just… broken. Then she joined our 21 Day Challenge. What happened next might just flip everything you thought you knew about fat loss after 50. Spoiler alert? Nicole started eating more food. Started doing less cardio. Started lifting weights. And started feeling stronger, more energized, and (yes!) losing fat in a sustainable way for the first time in years. Her story is inspiring, relatable, and proof that it's never too late to turn your body into a fat-burning, muscle-building machine. Ready to Start Your Story? It's Thursday afternoon, which means a brand new episode of the Real Life podcast is here to help us make sense of the world around us.The guys started off the Thursday episode of Real Life with a conversation about why Tyler still leaves his location on despite none of the other guys sharing theirs. Somehow, talking about Tyler being sick at home led to Chalmers going on an epic rant about Jay's win in the weight-loss challenge. As you'll hear, the way by which Jay revealed that he had lost 20 pounds over a full day before the sanctioned weigh-ins.Changing gears, Wanye told a story from one of his dreams, in which Tyler had a mini-version of himself after seeing him appear on CBC in an interview. That led to a discussion about the heat Wayne Gretzky is taking in Canada for his association with the US president. Regardless of your opinion on what's happening with this situation, there's little doubt that we are living in one of the wildest timelines imaginable. The conversation then moved into a run of conspiracy theories that revolved around fake news and A.I. that seem to grab hold on social media these days, and how damaging those situations can be. While it's fun to use A.I. to make funny images, videos, and whatever else is going on, there's also a very dark segment of users that are using these tools for harm and shenanigans. So what's the answer to the problem? Only time will tell. Finally, the guys wrapped up the Thursday episode of Real Life with a second rant from Chalmers after his kids are at home because of P.D. days at their school, which seem to be a running concern in their household. The guys then finished off with some golf talk after the new season of Full Swing was loaded up to Netflix this past week, and how well the producers of that show have done to highlight the sport.

When I was first diagnosed, my doctor guessed at my insulin needs and said "let me know how it goes".In other words - even HE wasn't confident that it would work.Looking back, this ticks me off.Newly diagnosed diabetics like me being left to fend for themselves with a "best guess" approach to T1D management. In a recent conversation with my private clients - the topic of "calculating total daily insulin with precision" came up, alongside what a "healthy" amount of insulin looks like as a target.Long story short - the topic is an important one, reminded me of how most people are calculating it wrong (at the misdirection of their medical teams), and led me to recording this DEEP dive on the topic for YOU in case your insulin is set up incorrectly...HINT: you're probably (accidentally) taking the wrong amount of insulin. This episode will show you EXACTLY how to calculate that, and more.>> ENJOY!Grab your seat for the Weight Loss Challenge here:https://t1dbootcamp.comPurchase your copy of "The Blood Sugar Freedom Formula" book TODAY!https://www.amazon.com/dp/1964811880?psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&ref_=chk_typ_quicklook_imgToDpFree T1D Support Group Here: https://diabetesinaction.com/join-group-1---------Welcome to the Pardon My Pancreas podcast!! Monday afternoon means a new episode of the Real Life Podcast is ready to kick off your week and help you make sense of this crazy little thing called life. On this week's podcast, the guys discussed the Jasper Pond Hockey tournament, Baggedmilk's hot dog charity drive, and got an update for the Real Life weight loss challenge. The guys started the Monday episode of Real Life with an update on the podcast weight loss challenge. As you'll hear, Jay and Baggedmilk are down some weight, while a big weekend's worth of food and drinks has Chalmers up 200 grams. The best part about Chalmers gaining a little bit is that he spent the Thursday podcast episode bragging about being down six pounds.Tagging onto the weight loss challenge, the guys got an update about Baggedmilk's hot dog charity drive now that he's got a week's worth of dogs under his belt. Even though no on expected this bit to go on this long, it's amazing to see how the community has rallied around the challenge to raise over $5000 for SCARS animal rescue.Changing gears, the fellas looked ahead at the Jasper Pond Hockey tournament and Chalmers' plan to get everyone to stay an extra day so they could ski at Marmot Basin. Chalmers is very excited about the tournament, and if he can find a way to get everyone to stay an extra day, he could put himself even further behind in the weight loss challenge. Finally, the guys wrapped up the Monday episode of Real Life with a random collection of topics. They discussed everything that went down around the NFL this past weekend, recapped some winners and losers, and updated everyone on what's happening with the Real Life weight loss challenge. Needless to say, the Monday episode of Real Life was all over the map once again.

Ever wonder how "good" life can get with T1D?In today's episode, I pulled one of my current clients aside who was able to use the 80/20 blood sugar formula to FLIP his world upside down (though, I suppose "right-side up" is more accurate)...He went from frustrated and confused with blood sugars that would just NOT cooperate...fTo in control and FREE, where even during a week of absolute CHAOS, he was able to maintain 89% time in range, nearly effortlessly (because of the blood sugar formulas).>> ENJOY!Grab your seat for the Weight Loss Challenge here:https://t1dbootcamp.comPurchase your copy of "The Blood Sugar Freedom Formula" book TODAY!https://www.amazon.com/dp/1964811880?psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&ref_=chk_typ_quicklook_imgToDpFree T1D Support Group Here: https://diabetesinaction.com/join-group-1---------Welcome to the Pardon My Pancreas podcast!! Monday afternoon means a new episode of the Real Life Podcast is ready to kick off your week and help you make sense of this crazy little thing called life. On this week's podcast, the guys recapped home security, Jay's trip to Mexico, and set the terms for the Real Life weight loss challenge. The fellas kicked off the Monday episode of Real Life with a story from Tyler after he woke up convinced that someone was trying to break into his house. After a day of drinking for the Buffalo Bills, a beer league game, and a healthy dose of spidey senses, a potential intruder woke Tyler up in the middle of the night, leading the boys to discuss home safety. Initially, Tyler thought the boys would make fun of his story, but what happened was a discussion about how to deal with intruders.Next up on the schedule, Jay recapped his vacation to Mexico and started with a story about how he slept through an earthquake. Even though a bunch of folks around him felt the incident, Jay slept right through the whole event. Changing gears, Jay then told a story about a bar he went to in Mexico that was Oilers themed. Seeing as it was the spot for Canadians in Mexico to watch hockey, experiencing a couple of games in that setting was a very fun way to experience an Oilers game. Changing gears, the guys got back to the weight loss challenge they started talking about back in December and started the contest with an official weigh in. Jay came in at 230.1 pounds, Chalmers was at 199.8 pounds, and Baggedmilk was at 202.8 pounds, and now the contest will be who can lose 20 pounds the fastest or by the end of the end of the NHL regular season. With $200 on the line from each person, the race is on to get fit. Needless to say, the Monday episode of Real Life was all over the map once again.

On a scale from one to infinity, how excited were you to see that a fresh episode of the Real Life Podcast was recorded, wrapped, and ready to carry you into the weekend? Infinity excited, right? Of course. The guys kicked off the Thursday episode of Real Life with a discussion about the Jasper Pond Hockey tournament that's coming up in a couple of weeks at the Jasper Park Lodge and how the boys have started pulling some pranks on their out-of-town co-workers. From convincing guys they need to play with a wood stick to pre-negotiating the post-game party spot, it's clear how excited everyone is to get back to Jasper and play some hockey.Somehow, talking about playing hockey led to an extended discussion about the Olive Garden. Even though none of the guys had been to Olive Garden in forever, they still spent a lot of time talking about all the times they used to eat there. They also discussed how the restaurant removed Wanye's favourite seafood portofino dish. Nobody knows how the podcast landed on restaurant talk, but they spent more time there than expected. With the Olive Garden talk out of the way, the guys examined the weight loss of Chalmers, Baggedmilk, Jay, and Tyler and noted that they're still looking for a way to loop in charity. While Tyler and Baggedmilk have started chipping away at the challenge, Chalmers has been sick for the last week, and Jay is still in Mexico, so who knows how this challenge is going to turn out. Will they lose weight? Will Baggedmilk's hot dog challenge cause him to gain weight? Finally, the guys wrapped up the Thursday podcast with a story about Wanye leaving the Real Life group chat because he feels Tyler texts the group way too early. As you'll hear, the reason for having his notifications on makes sense, but in this case, he could have taken some very easy steps to mute notifications instead of having to leave the group chat.

Final Results For My 6-Month Weight Loss Challenge and Key Takeaways Click Here for a FREE 15 min Zoom Consultation With Brad: Over 40 Fitness Hacks Facebook Group In the latest episode of the Over 40 Fitness Hacks podcast, Brad Williams shares the final results of his six-month weight loss challenge. Starting in January, Brad aimed to demonstrate the effectiveness of building small, sustainable habits over drastic changes. Throughout the challenge, he focused on various aspects like diet, sleep, inflammation, stress, movement, and supplementation. Each month, he provided updates on his progress, with particular attention to inflammation and diet. In the final month, Brad concentrated on stress management, using tools like the WHOOP device to monitor his sleep and metabolism. Despite initially resisting meditation, he found diaphragmatic breathing effective for relaxation and improving his resting heart rate. Over the six months, Brad successfully reduced his weight from 215 to 201 pounds, attributing his success to maintaining a balance between disciplined weekdays and more relaxed weekends. Brad highlights the importance of personalized approaches, emphasizing that his methods can be adapted to fit different lifestyles and goals. He plans to continue focusing on inflammation and eventually aims to bulk up while maintaining his leanness. Four-Month Weight Loss Challenge Update: Adjusting For Setbacks and Successes Click Here for a FREE 15 min Zoom Consultation With Brad: Brad Williams provides a comprehensive update on his six-month weight loss challenge in this podcast episode. He discusses his journey over the past four months, focusing on various aspects of fitness and health improvement. In January, he prioritized reducing inflammation, which has been an ongoing struggle. In February, he emphasized movement, incorporating high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and long walks. March saw a focus on supplements, particularly digestive enzymes and electrolytes. For April, Brad concentrated on cleaning up his diet, shifting back to a keto, low-carb approach after experimenting with a carnivore diet in March. He emphasizes the importance of animal protein over plant-based alternatives for muscle hypertrophy. Brad also emphasizes the significance of individualized approaches to nutrition and biohacking. During April, Brad introduced more organic foods into his diet and increased his intake of probiotics through sources like sauerkraut. However, his progress was interrupted by contracting a severe stomach flu, leading to a 72-hour fasting period to aid recovery. Despite the setback, he returned to his routine and saw significant weight loss. Looking ahead, Brad plans to focus on improving sleep and managing stress in the remaining months of the challenge. He encourages listeners to join him in prioritizing health and offers support through consultations for those interested in starting their own journey.
