The current era of Brisbane Lions success began with a shock win over reigning premiers West Coast in Round 1, 2019.What none of us would have guessed that night, was that we would make it until at least 2027 without losing to them again. Our eighth win in a row over the Eagles has kept our top four hopes alive, with the four-hour flight home no doubt feeling much nicer with the four points in hand.A Crows upset over the Swans has them breathing down our necks though, leaving no margin for error as Josh Carr's new-look Port Adelaide side make their way to the Gabba. You wouldn't think that playing 16th one week and 15th the next would be quite so anxiety inducing, but that's seemingly the way of things in 2026.Also this week:-What went wrong in the ruck?-Brainstorming ways to get Oscar Allen back into the side-Our thoughts on Ken Hinkley's Tasmania appointmentThe Roar Deal is sponsored by Kartable. Planning for later or needing now? Streamlined pricing and procurement for all of your trade materials, supporting services & site deliveries.
It wasn't the smoothest hit and run operation, but we saw off the attempted Carrjacking. Time to Restump Podcast the procuring of the points from the plucky Port Power players. While our mission to get into south Australia, secure the four points and get out again took a similar amount of time, we weren't exactly Delta Force commandos, executing a flawless raid and capture of Nicolas Maduro in Venezuela!Sometimes you simply have to battle the monotony monster in the mind and just win. Sometimes no thrills or frills pays the bills. That was pretty much the summary of the comfortable win over Josh Carr's cabal. There was an air of supremacy about us and a sense of formality and while they're habits we don't want creeping in, to be fair, it's hard to be critical.Port Adelaide had nine of their best 23 out. No Zak Butters, no Jason Horne-Francis, no Connor Rozee and no Mitch Georgiades! So, it is a tad forgivable for allowing an infection of momentary complacency. However, they belted us in the midfield which kind of makes you raise half an eyebrow. Was it a symptom of the situation? It's not nothing but is it any real cause for concern? Does it just provide us with beneficial feedback to work on before finals? But we're a ‘focus on the positives' posse at the Restump and they came in the form of Luke Jackson, Jye Amiss and Izzy Dudley.Luke Jackson, single handedly turned the tables and carjacked the Carrjackers in the 3rd quarter! But him telling his mids at half time he was going to do it and to be ready for it, that is something we're all here for.Jye Amiss arriving predominantly over recent weeks is something special and it only enhances our September chances. And we've said it before and we'll say it again, Izzy Dudley is as clever as Murphy Reid. His inability to waste a possession is top drawer and it's a rarity that something good doesn't occur from a Dudley involvement! We took the points, we put an almost insurmountable lead on the comp for the minor premiership race and now we look to keep on trucking towards Friday night's Derby, otherwise known as the West Coast fans grand final, whether they admit it or not.And what an encounter it may be! The Eagle fans are high on hope after a string of self-destructive performances masquerading as honourable losses, and they'll bring their nothing to lose mentality, their whinny manner, backpacks full of arrogance and an overinflated sense of entitlement. So, if you want to block out the constant shrieking of West Coast fans complaining about Harley Reid not getting a free kick for being tripped by a step, feel free to swap their noise for ours. We can't guarantee you'll be better , but at least you'll be getting a better quality of nonsense. Send us Fan MailSupport the show

"Scary Movie 6" starring Anna Faris and Regina Hall released just days ago to a massive box office overhaul, continuing Paramount Pictures' streak of franchise hits after "Scream 7." In this episode, Ryan reviews "Scary Movie 6" with producer TJ Jones, Josh Carr, Anthony Dapuzzo, and Jess Melendez. Ryan discusses the bold statement the Wayans Brothers make with the ending of this movie about embracing the original characters rather than the requel replacements, a concept that has been widely discussed in relation to the SCREAM franchise since "Scream VI." In addition, Ryan explains his point of view as to why the Wayans spoofed the exact narrative structure of "Scream" (2022) to undercut the message of the Radio Silence era with their own statement about how they view their franchise. Then, Ashley joins Ryan to for "Drop Dead" by Olivia Rodrigo as the song of the week ahead of the release of her new album, "You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So In Love," this Friday. The Sandgroper roper. He's a rustler! Wrangler Wallsy and co are out there on their annual muster, lassoing and herding prized young West Aussies back to the Fremantle farm. Time to Restump Podcast the trade parade. The seemingly very focused Freo strategy of enticing quality age profile applicable young west Australians who fill or add to positions of need, continues. So far, we've seen off Liam Reidy and we welcomed home ex-East Fremantle product, Judd McVee, to the Freo family.Under the clever guise of being neighbourly, Wallsy and co orchestrated a position that saw Judd McVee head to Fremantle, essentially for a very fair price, and potentially substantial unders. It unlocked the block that allowed West Coast to get their mature aged defender, Brandon Starcevich. We gave up picks 12, 33, 44 and 50 and received Judd McVee, pick 19, 23 and 46. Liam Reidy has made his way to Carlton with pick 53 and 71 while picks 50 and 68 returned. Nothing to write home about but what more could we realistically expect? You don't have to win every trade. Trade period isn't over yet but you'd imagine there wouldn't be too much more action from a purple perspective, other than Will Brodie heading to Port Adelaide to team up with Josh Carr. But who knows what unfolds in the frantic few moments before the final bell?Has the free agency compensation system gone past the point of repair? The manipulation and exploiting of the seemingly fluid rules, the lack of transparency around decisions made and compensatory awards handed down, suggest it's time to either scrap it altogether or blow it up and rebuild it in a more appropriate manner. Jojo has been banging on about it for years and now it surely seems he'll get his wish. The Chief is still running his one-man campaign to sound out Geelong's Ted Chlohesy. With Switta's often unreliable availability, could Ted be the perfect candidate to mitigate that risk and fill our post-Schultzy forward pressure deficiency? However, we're already in the workshop building the wagon to carry the picks, points and punters for the Chadwick28 Restump campaign ready to roll out next year! As always, we somehow come up with plenty of propaganda to prattle on about. So, as we always say, if you're not pickled or plastered and passed out on purple, your performance isn't presentable. If you haven't overdosed, you're not doing it right. Feel free to join us on the pod to get a momentary fix, or even just to top up.Send us a textSupport the show
