Checkout the link below!! https://ambassador.athletenarrative.com/shane-larson-join This episode is an INCREDIBLE opportunity to learn about perserverance from a current JUCO basketball player, who made his way to the college ranks after a LOT of hard work. We don't just say that, you're actually going to hear and see WHAT he had to do exactly in order to make his way into the college basketball world! I met Kaden when he was playing basketball at a local high school here in Idaho, in the city of Eagle. Kaden didn't really get on the court much at that time, but I always knew that he had the body type to play at the next level. And when I heard his story, I KNEW he had to be on the show! He currently is playing at Blue Mountain Community College in Pendleton, OR. Blue Mountain is part of the NWAC. Today you're going to hear what it takes to get there. You're going to hear about the hard work, daily consistency and discipline it takes, the adversity you may have to go through, and you're going to hear about the attitude and mindset required to reach your goals. Ultimately, what I hope you gain from this interview, is an appreciation for Kaden's story. This is a man who had a goal, and didn't allow anyone around him to deter him from that. In fact, he doubled down on himself, and bet on himself (something MANY of us can learn something about and apply more into our own lives). Please tap into this episode, and the only thing I ask is if you enjoy the interview, that you provide a review on Apple Podcasts or Spotify for us! Thank you so much! And if you want to follow Kaden's journey, follow him on Instagram: @kaden_johnson.2 - https://www.instagram.com/kaden_johnson.2/ ____________________________ Come follow The Gametime Guru on the various social media platforms! In this episode we explore the world of Junior College Basketball. I think it's slightly misunderstood and is an important area in the collegiate basketball landscape. Joining me are two legendary Minnesota coaches that were both successful coaches in the JUCO world. Jay Pivec has over 600 wins and a good majority of those came from his time as head coach at Minneapolis Community College. Jay was recognized as national junior college coach of the year in 2009 and was inducted into the national junior college hall of fame in 2010. And the second guest- Ron Larson just retired as the head coach at Anoka-Ramsey Community College. Ron amassed over 700 wins as coach at ARCC and St. Francis high school and is in the Minnesota Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame.Ron and Jay explain the differences in the three divisions of JUCO basketball, where most players that go the JUCO route play at the next level and why JUCO basketball is important. This episode is a must listen for those wanting to learn more about junior college basketball or are looking to play at that level.

The College Metropolis Podcast: College Admissions Talk for High School Students and Parents
#038 – Coach John Mosley is our guest on this special episode. We discuss several topics related to his successful approach to coaching, which has led several accomplishments inside and outside the basketball court. Coach Mosley was very generous with us as he gave us a behind-the-scenes look at several of the steps he takes each year to make sure his players achieve personal and collective goals, that result in success. Although our conversation took place within the context of basketball, the parallels with the college admission process are palpable. Everything coach Mosley shared with us related to personal leadership is absolutely applicable to each member of our audience. Coach Mosley talked about the need to secure small successes to reach big successes and the importance of helping students find stability as they navigate the highs and lows of their performance. He also explained how important it is for his players to experience winning every day. That is, winning at doing the small things that, in the end, allow them to achieve a positive mindset and a winning attitude. There is a lot that high school students and parents of high school students will get from this episode. My hope is that you get as much out of it as I did. You can find the show notes for this episode at https://collegemetropolis.com/38. Please help us reach more high school students and their parents by giving our show a 5-star rating, and by leaving us a positive review on the platform you used to download the show. That kind gesture will help us a ton. Thank you!
