Are you caught up in the stuckery of life? Has your motivation taken a summer vacation and forgot to buy a return ticket? It can be easy to lose our spark, our inspiration, or motivation, but it's even easier to get it back and light things up with your very own sparkle. You have something very special and unique to you that the world needs! We are all designed to shine in our own unique way, but sometimes life events, our surroundings, and even family can dim out our light and our talents. Getting L.I.T is about reconnecting to the ever present, internal spark we hold inside. Our well being and sense of balance comes from that spark. We need to shine for ourselves first, in order to shine outwardly for others. How you shine and how you express yourself is so different than how everyone else shows up in their shine. It's critical that we don't hide our light or let others diminish it or extinguish it. Tune in for a light hearted conversation about applying your shine so that you can feel joy, happiness, and live more freely the way you are meant to live, When you feel L.I.T. others will too. EP242: This week's guest interview is with Kim Selby, a woman with a varied background including advertising, public relations, fashion, acting, travel, motivational speaking, and raising a couple of awesome kids and who is constantly reinventing herself. She started her career in New Your City, working in advertising, PR and as a traveling Merchandising Editor at Glamour magazine. Act 2 took her to San Francisco, because she had “dated everyone in New York,” and that was a good thing because shortly thereafter she met her soulmate, got married, and had two glorious children, filling her time by volunteering as PTA president as well as other activities.  Kim has a super fun and vibrant personality and is a great example of how to embrace Act 3 of your life. She is currently being fueled by her love of speaking and her “Ignite Your Spark” podcast, And she's living by her motto and inspiring those of us over 50 that “you are never too old” by getting her first modeling gig at age 64! In this episode, Kim and I talked about: The story behind what prompted her to start a podcast last year at age 64. A shocking revelation that she discovered by accident right after her mom died. Her love for motivational speaking and how that desire surfaced at a young age. The actions she took to give more meaning to her “empty nest” stage of life. I loved our high energy conversation and how Kim walks her talk. She's such a great example of how to stay vibrant by leaning into what excites you and pursuing your passions regardless of age. To find that hidden gem of cinematic brilliance, an obscure indie, there was no way to scroll through images on a screen, you had to walk the aisles of small cardboard boxes with enticing artwork. Rows of mini movie posters competing for your attention. So grab your laminated membership card, make sure your late fees are paid up, and take a trip back to when movie magic came from a VCR. Kim has worked for Glamour magazine in NYC and was also the Fashion Director at Saks Fifth Avenue. This week on the Endure Stronger podcast, we chat to Joe and Kim Selby of the 10k Per Day Challenge. We met these guys at the National Running Show in Birmingham earlier this year and LOVED their new initiative, to foster a more active community with some awesome rewards for hitting 10,000 steps per day. We know what you’re thinking: I’m a runner. Why do I need to worry about 10,000 steps per day? Because the pedometer may say 20-40k some days, but if you are a valiant desk jockey or generally sit a lot for the rest of the day, you’re missing out on the performance gains, mental space and - of more interest - recovery benefits of putting one foot in front of the other more throughout the day. We really enjoyed chatting to Kim and Joe about the gains to be made when you’re more active in daily life. We’ve signed up to the challenge ourselves too - so if you want to hear the worst couple banter you’ve ever heard about competitive step counting, this is the podcast for you Find the 10k Per Day Challenge at www.10kperday.co.uk or find them on Instagram at @10kperdaychallenge.
